I'm just reading the first book right now, it's great! I'm really excited to fun out what will happen later in the series.

Wheel of Time is my favorite fantasy series. This might sound silly but when I think of the characters they feel like good friends more than pages in a book.

I would love to see a challenge like that. It would certainly help for my 2015 book challenge. I've set my 2015 book challege to be a "normal" number, but with the additional requirement that the average book size should be 300+ pages. 2015 is the first time I'm also setting a pages target, so I'm still guessing what a doable average is.

Theresa~OctoberLace (octoberlace) | 773 comments Kara, will Let's Turn Pages be an annual or quarter challenge?

Kara (karaayako) | 3984 comments It'll be an annual one.

Canadian Dragon | 904 comments That sounds like a good challenge with pages, I am hoping to read the game of thrones series. So far I have just read the first book.

Kara (karaayako) | 3984 comments I'm with you, Tasha! I keep planning to get back into the series (I want to reread the first one too since it's been a while), but I keep not making time for it.

I had no idea the stat page existed. That is amazing and I'm obsessed with it!

message 60: by Tytti (new)

Tytti | 58 comments I have noticed that my "normal" average is about 275 pages, it has often stayed around that number even without trying. This year I should be able to get to an even 300 after finishing three books over 800 pages.

Next year I am planning to read all the shorter books I have lying around here and some of the shorter classics. My "goal" is an average of 250 pages but I'm not sure if I can make it. I wouldn't be able to read many longer books then.

But then again, I might be busy again next year, so I am keeping the numbers low: 36(-40) books and 9000(-10 000) pages, this year I am trying to get 37 books and 11 100 pages, though I might miss the last book and 288 pages... (Yes, the last two books I have chosen based on the page count.) I didn't start seriously reading until May this year, though.

My son feels that 50 pages a day is a very attainable goal so we keep track of each others page counts. This year I finally made the goal of 18250 pages. Unfortunately he had a book slump in the spring and won't make the goal.

We had a similar challenge for 2014
"https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/..."

I usually do my own "personal" challenge each year to read books from A to Z but it might be fun to try to read books set in all 50 states in 2015, you gave me a great idea, Thanks!

Sharon - if you do this challenge, here is a link you might like to a map of the most famous book set in every state.

I've read a lot of those books, but it will be a good resource. It's funny that I've never heard of the most famous book set in Utah ... of course it's about polygamy. Everyone still thinks it is a common practice here. (It isn't)

The 19th Wife by David Ebershoff

I would say the most famous book set in Utah is ...

The Executioner's Song by Norman Mailer

I would have to agree with you Sharon. I have not heard of The 19th Wife but I have heard of Norman Mailer's book.

Cassandra | 5832 comments I just wanted to post here, since you were asking, and let you all know that the Let's Turn Pages Challenge is officially posted. I hope this helps encourage and reward reading longer books!

message 67: by Lauryn (last edited Dec 15, 2014 02:53AM) (new)

Lauryn | 3 comments I really have not kept up with the books for this year and actually have not read any of the books that were on my list, although I have read books that were recommended by friends.
I will try and be consistent and keep to my list in the coming year and also be active on the group.

✨ABookGirl✨memoirs are my jam✨ (abookgirl1) Does anyone know when the 2015 GoodReads widget will be available?

Which are you most excited for?

message 75: by Maureen (new)

Maureen | 238 comments I am most excited about the randomiser challenge.
There are a few books I forgot were in my tbr list. I already bought a couple of the books in that list. Can't wait to start!!
For now I will participate in 3 of the yearly challenges, but if everything goes well in the beginning of the year, I will probably add more challenges.

I love all of them!!

message 80: by Jodi (new)

Jodi (readinbooks) | 1971 comments I am most excited for the I Spy Challenge, which originally I wasn't going to sign up for and I am excited for the Listopia Challenge. The Randomizer Challenge is fun too because it is neat to see what books the randomizer picks for me.

message 81: by Marina (new)

Marina (sonnenbarke) I'm really curious about the Favourite Genres Challenge. I keep reading literary fiction and not much else, so I'm glad to broaden my horizons a little bit.

Gwen S. (gwen1629) | 449 comments Kara, is there any way one can have his/her book reviews done on Amazon merged over or copied to Goodreads??

message 83: by Kara (new)

Kara (karaayako) | 3984 comments Gwen, I don't believe there is. If this is a feature you'd like to see, I would recommend posting about it in the Feedback Group.
