I gave my mom and sis Kindles for Christmas, which they took the library so the librarian could help them set up accts and check out books.

The librarian apparently let an OMG slip out when she saw my cloud. At the time, I had more e-books than the library.

There are worse things to hoard.

LOL! They add up fast! The library saves me a FORTUNE every year! The Overdrive app is amazing and I'm fortunate to have two local library systems at my disposal. If one doesn't have the ebook, the other one usually does.

My MIL recently bought an e-reader and wants me to bring my Nook over on Thanksgiving so we can compare books. I'll have to get her on Goodreads.

My library has pleasantly surprised me, especially this year. They now offer 3M Cloud Library services, which has quite a few books I didn't find on Overdrive, as well as Hoopla for audiobooks.

Kathleen...I don't know what I'd do without it! I certainly couldn't read as much as I do now and I'd be missing out on so many great books. I wish everyone had the same access.

Cynthia...I'll have to look into that. Our library is pretty progressive, but I haven't heard of the Cloud Library or Hoopla. Maybe I missed it. Sounds awesome though!

I'm starting Fire Study now and hoping it keeps pace with the others!

Well I finished the first, I liked it, but was hoping for a little more. However, I have a problem with not finishing a series (unless they are truly just terrible). So I will continue to book 2.

I'm at around 60% on Fire Study. I want Roze to die a horrible death.
I didn't get much reading done. We hit a lot of traffic and still haven't made it to my parent's house. Probably another 2.5 hrs and I'll be ready for a bath and bed by then for sure.

I'm almost half way through book two and would like Roze to be gone. Haha, I'll assume she just gets worse.

Anybody up for a series read of Opal's stories: We could wait until everyone is through the Study series? January would work well for me.

As for Valek, I wanted more of him, too! They were communicating telepathically in the last book with such ease, so why not now? Is it the null shield/void/thingy-ma-jig? I didn't quite get that. It was a neat connection between the two and I want to see more of it! (hide spoiler)]

I liked Poison Study, but I enjoyed this one more.

Although (view spoiler)[Rose appears to be unaware of the Vermin's true intentions, she is going quite happily with them. For someone who is supposedly so clever, she is an idiot! I guess her obsession with killing Yelena is clouding her judgement. (hide spoiler)]

Finished - not as good as the first two books in the series. The end was rather anti-climactic.

I'm just about done with the second. While there is a lot I've enjoyed about the first and the second I feel both are filled with repetitive nonsense. The story is creative and interesting so I'll probably continue on to the third.

I think they didn't call it 'Soul Study' because it seems to me she didn't do a helluva lot to learn about soulfinding or binding or guiding or whatever she's destined to do. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[I enjoyed the chase through the country for Yelena. She showed herself to be clever and resourceful. The backpack, the food, the glue for the leaves. And she had the advantage by being able to swing through the trees.

Valek seems to be crushing on her a bit. I don't think I would be opposed to that. Hope he doesn't turn out to be the bad guy!

So the magician either wants her dead or in the south to train? Interesting that Yelena could have that much power if she learned to control it. No wonder the general wants her dead (besides the whole "killing his son" thing).

Am I the only one that thinks she doesn't need a daily antidote? I felt like Valek was just telling her that to control her. I expected Irys to tell her Valek was lying to her when they were chatting in the woods, but I guess not. Just seems like a convenient way to control someone.

Rand...I knew I shouldn't trust you. You let me down.

Totally shocked by the revelation about the Commander. I assume that was a real glimpse into his thoughts during the meeting?

I still think Yelena isn't really poisoned. Maybe I'm wrong. And I love the Power Twins. Love them! (hide spoiler)]

Poison Study final thoughts:

I knew Valek hadn't really poisoned her! It seemed like a good threat to make, and once she couldn't find anything about it in her research I thought it was a made up poison. I didn't suspect the antidote would make her sick, though. Nice twist.

Really curious about her family. I think that's what I'm looking forward to most about reading the next book. A solid three star read for me.

I'm 22% in the Fire Study and I'm yawning through it all. The book has lost its spark for me I don't know if it's because I waited too long to continue or I just realized some things are still left unexplained like Moon Man's powers (or I slept through it when an explanation of how these StoryWeavers magic system works?) Anyway, I'm too invested in the series now to stop so... reading along!

I agree, Kathleen. Fire Study was definitely the weakest of the three, especially the first third. Like you, I'm invested in the characters so I kept going. It did get better, but it wasn't the authors best work. I got the impression she was a bit scattered and unsure of where her plot was going in places. There were many bright spots, though. I really liked the fascinating scenes as our heroine comes to understand her powers.

Is it just me or Yelena is starting to become annoying? But thankgoodness the action finally picked up because i was yawning through the first half.
