✿~Danielle~✿ (dmh1) | 5684 comments I know this has been turned into a series read now. Are you going to be reading the Glass series? It's in the same world but with Opal as the main character.

For those of you loving this series. There is a new Yelena trilogy beginning next year. The first book Shadow Study comes out in February. I can't wait, been hoping for more from Yelena (view spoiler).

I saw the Glass books in the library when I was looking for Magic Study. I didn't look closely, so I had no idea they were in the same system.

I'll definitely read them. I just finished Magic Study and (view spoiler)

Great Cynthia. That's why I mentioned it, so others can decide if they'll carry on and read then.

Cait S | 2825 comments Every time she mentions the other districts, I keep picturing The Hunger Games series instead lol

Also I find it interesting how quickly she's starting to get snippy with Valek. There was a line something similar to "I won't just stand here and take his orders like a dog." Quick turn around for someone who was about to be hanged. I thought that was a little strange, especially since up to the point I'm at anyway, he hasn't really done anything cruel to her. She was informed she would need to be trained, the fact that she's like HOW DARE YOU POISON MY FOOD is like... Well... What were you expecting exactly?

Becky ♡The Bookworm♡ (mckennamuse) | 4205 comments Cynthia wrote: "Has anyone gone to the BR thread and asked the mods for a series BR?"

Might not be a bad idea. I'll go and check. If no one has requested it, I'll ask.

Chapter 11: (view spoiler)

Becky ♡The Bookworm♡ (mckennamuse) | 4205 comments Requested the Series Read on the BR request thread. Give them 24 hours. They're swamped.

I do like that the author gave us a map. That helps soooo much! Anne Bishop did that with The Others series, too.

About Yelena's anger. Are you talking about her training? In her final test: (view spoiler)

My TBR just grew again! Thanks for letting us know, Danielle!

I'm at Chapter 23 of Magic Study: (view spoiler)

Maybe I'll try the first book in the Glass series then see how it pans out. But I'll definitely up for reading Shadow Study. I hope the author finishes Valek and Yelena's story with this series soon. The 2 deserve some semblance of peace and happy 'ending'! They need to start making babies! haha

Becky ♡The Bookworm♡ (mckennamuse) | 4205 comments Finished Magic Study (Study, #2) by Maria V. Snyder .

Loved it, but I have a big question: (view spoiler)

Anyone else have thoughts on this dilemma?

RachelvlehcaR (charminggirl) | 4364 comments I'm going to start this book. :)

Update: I started the book and wow. Just the first chapter alone. Wow.

I can't remember if this get answered, Becky.

Anita Reads | 1677 comments Hmm. I just checked audible, I don't think there's an audio version of this one. I'm not sure I'll be able to join you in this read then. I don't have extra money to buy books this month. We don't have it at our library either. I'll have to wait and read this until some time in the new year, when I don't have christmas presents to buy as well.

(I get 2 audible credits each month, and have access to a ebook site that reminds of netflix)

Well...it does add to the mystery. I've been wondering since Book 1 (view spoiler)

Same questions I'm dying to know the answer to! Maybe the third book wil answer the mystery?

RachelvlehcaR (charminggirl) | 4364 comments I'm currently on chapter 20. I'm really enjoying the journey of this book. I think after I read this book I'm going to be read the rest of the series. I just wanted to put up a status of where I'm at. :)

I know I'm late into the game but I had to wait for my copy at the library. I'm so happy I'm reading this. I was at work today and telling my client all about it. She wants to read it now. :P

My thoughts about the beginning of the book: (view spoiler)

Okay, now onward! I'm hoping to finish it tonight. :)

Cait S | 2825 comments Well. I'm 40% in according to my Kindle and... it's pretty much died off for me. It seems like I might be the only one but at this point it's just dragging and I kind of wish it was over. :/ It's one of those that I read decently while I'm reading but then set down and don't really feel any desire or immediacy about picking up again.

It will pick up, at least it did for me. I'm a big action junkie so the ebbs and flows kept me engaged. The ending was great and explains a lot. I'm holding off on Book 3 until I've read a few other things. I'm seeing familiar phrases and getting too accustomed to the author's patterns. Taking a break with other genres will help.

Rachel...Glad to hear you like it. I think Yelena is a strong character, too. If you like the magic, you'll probably love the second book!

I'm all for reading what excites you. I just pushed through a couple of books recently because I had that 'it must be me' syndrome, wondering why everyone else loved it and I found it interminable. I think I'm over that now.

Although I enjoyed them both, I found that book 2 had more action than book 1. I flew through the 2nd book.
Like Becky, I'm holding off on the 3rd book so I don't get overloaded on this series.

Cait S | 2825 comments I'm enjoying Ari and Janco, so I'm still going for the scenes that they're in. It just seems really repetitive to me?

Like Yelena eats some food, Yelena takes a walk, Yelena takes a bath, Yelena goes to sleep. Yelena wakes up and does that exact same thing over and over and over again.

✿~Danielle~✿ (dmh1) | 5684 comments I love when Ari and Janco are on page

I won't be keeping on with the series but I hope the rest of you enjoy it! Thanks for letting me join in :)

It's okay to hate a book! I'm so glad there's a variety, because I'm not a big fan of cozies and romances and would have to take up MMORPGs if that's all there was to read.

That's okay, not everyone love the same books.

Michelle (govmarley) | 3150 comments I may pick this one up and join you since so many people in my group are reading it!

Lauren (laurenjberman) Becky ♡The Bookworm♡ wrote: "Hi Anita! The mods will make this a series read when they get a chance. Just identify which book you're commenting on when you post. It'll be very relaxed and you can read at your own pace."

Book #3 is up next for me. Do I understand correctly that if I read it and others comment on it as well, it will count for the Tower Teams?

Becky ♡The Bookworm♡ (mckennamuse) | 4205 comments Hi Lauren! Yes, that's right. When do you want to start book 3? I'll join you (I'm on the Witches of the Bayou team).

I should be done with The Book of Life (All Souls Trilogy, #3) by Deborah Harkness by Tuesday and I can start then. Is that OK with you? (I'm on Thundercats)

Becky ♡The Bookworm♡ (mckennamuse) | 4205 comments Tuesday is perfect! Ill be ready!

The more the merrier and that will be two more BRs for the Thundercats!

Cynthia (cynthiab) I'm on the road Tuesday and may not be able to start then. I can't read in the car without getting dizzy, so I'll have to find an audiobook and start this later.

Is anyone planning to read the short stories just for fun? They're on Snyder's website, so free. I may or may not.

Lauren (laurenjberman) Cynthia wrote: "Is anyone planning to read the short stories just for fun? They're on Snyder's website, so free. I may or may not. "

I usually skip short stories. There is rarely any significant contribution to the character development or ongoing storyline in them.

Becky ♡The Bookworm♡ (mckennamuse) | 4205 comments I haven't decided about the short stories. I have so many series that I want to get through that the novellas start to feel like extra filling.

I do plan to read one of the short stories in the Kate Daniels series, though. It's the one with Dali and Jim. Curiosity got the better of me! ; )

I doubt I'll read them too.

RachelvlehcaR (charminggirl) | 4364 comments I just picked up the second book. I am finishing up a book now and but I'll read this between books. :)

Becky ♡The Bookworm♡ (mckennamuse) | 4205 comments It's pretty bad when I start to decide which book to read based on points! I think I'm a Reading Challenge Addict...

Cynthia (cynthiab) I freely admit that I am. I've got it down to most points for time invested, since a 448 pp book takes as much time to read as a 452 pp one, guess which one I'll pick up first...

And I just realized (because I haven't been paying that much attention to December), that I have 7 Buddy Reads the first week. And I do want to read them all.

If I have to start setting my alarm to get up early and read, it's going to feel like a job LOL

lol, I know how you feel. I have a lot of books I'm reading. That's why I'm going to take this one slow and just in between the other books.

I wish the cutoff was 400 and not 450. So many of my books are just shy of the higher number. Grrr!

I always have my Nook in my hand these days and don't leave home without it. My husband made the comment to his mother the other day that I must be in the middle of "another online book thingy" since I'm pre-occupied with reading.

Cynthia (cynthiab) HA! I think I got through the worst of it with my husband when I got a Kindle and stopped buying physical books. I have(had) trouble getting rid of them, so I had a significant number of books in the spare room.

Now I just have a significant number of reading devices and a handful of library books.

Becky ♡The Bookworm♡ (mckennamuse) | 4205 comments I would be in BIG trouble if I owned dead tree versions of all my books. Last count I had 600 on my Nook. I'd need my own private library...with a cozy bay window filled with pillows and a big fireplace...which would be awesome! I'd probably move into it!
