SOLVED. YA book about a girl who goes with her friend to an audition and unexpectedly gets a main acting role in a fantasy TV show [s]

I read this YA book sometime between 2003-2005 I believe. The book seemed current and I think it was probably set in the US but I don't remember any details beyond that.
Some spoilers ahead.

The plot is about a teenage girl whose best friend is interested in acting and she tags along to an audition with her. The casting directors really like her and end up hiring her for a major acting role in a well-known (in the book) fantasy TV series, I think it was a medieval type show from memory. Her friend begins to get jealous of her.

SPOILERS: the star of the show is an adult woman - I vaguely remember her TV character having long red hair - and she too becomes jealous of the attention the MC is getting for her acting/character. There is also a male character in the TV show and I think she begins to develop a crush on the actor who plays him. In the end her character is written off the show because the star of the show makes a fuss about it.

I think the main character's name might have been something like Becca or Emily and her character in the TV show might have been something like Kel??? But I'm struggling to recall any specifics so this could be totally off base.

Bump! I've been trying to think of more details. I remember thinking that the plot of the TV show she acts in was maybe a bit similar to the The Song of the Lioness Quartet as the main character was, from memory, a lady knight (or something similar). I remember a specific description of her having long red hair and bright green eyes (in the TV show). It definitely had a fantasy, medieval feel. However the book is set in the modern world as I said before.
