I really want to get into mystery books. However, i find that most are either very bloody and violent and murderous or are very mature as in making out, unplanned pregnancy and tons of other things a christian girl like me does not want to read about. I am wondering if anyone has read any clean YA mystery books that have a little romance, but is quite subtle and sweet and with a good plot with lots of mystery???

I just discovered this series this year. It’s super clean and the romance is really low key.
They aren’t teen books but they don’t have anything that would be unsuitable for teens.
Another big favorite mystery author for me is Lynette Eason. Her books are a bit more intense but still clean, and lots of my teenage friends really love her writing.
Hi Michaela, may I be so bold as to suggest my Doctor Tess series? - https://patwilpenter.com/ Romantic suspense + mystery? - yes, especially books 3 and 4 in the series, which you can read as standalones, though I think you'd miss some of the character building in the first two books. #3 is HONEYMOON ROADKILL and #4 is HONEYMOON HOSTAGES.
All my books are clean and wholesome - https://patwilpenter.com/a-good-clean...
Hope you find what you're looking for.

The culinary series by Josie Kilpack are all really clean and well written mysteries. All the books start with the name of a dessert.
Check out the culinary mysteries by Josie Kilpack. They all start with the name of baked goods. Better if you read them in order.
I loved the Josie Kilpack mystery series. Really fun and perfectly clean. The first one is Lemon Tart.

I just finished, "When I Close My Eyes," by Elizabeth Musser, and I highly recommend it! Here is my review:When I Close My Eyes
"Wow! I happened upon this book while searching through Goodreads for something new to read. I had no idea that it would be such a captivating and emotional read. Not having a clue what the ending would be throughout, I had trouble putting it down and finished within a couple of days. The very interesting plot-line pulled me in from the very beginning. The way that the story was told kept the pace moving, and the characters were well developed. I loved being able to read such a deep, well written, inspiring book that was full of suspense without having to worry that there would be any unexpected gratuitous scenes to take away from the story."
Gabriella wrote: "Can anyone recommend novels that are retelling a of fairy tales?"Hey Gabriella,
Here are some clean, well-written fairy tale retellings:
Tales of the Latter Kingdoms series by Christine Pope
The Andari Chronicles series by Kenley Davidson
The Books of Bayern by Shannon Hale
Melanie Dickerson also writes clean fairy tale retellings but they're not as well written (in my opinion)
Hope this helps you find something to enjoy!
There’s a good list that you might find helpful, here:https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/3...
Not all of Robin McKinley’s fairy tale retellings are ones I’d recommend but her “Beauty: A Retelling of Beauty and the Beast”, and “Rose Daughter” were, in my opinion, quite good.
Would you like to start a new thread on the topic of fairy tales so that we fairy tale or fantasy fans are not encroaching on the mystery thread? If you do, it might be delightfully helpful to other readers with similar interests.

MaryBliss I would like to make a new thread but everytime I try to do that it says I can’t until I put in my e-mail address (which I already did that of course), so I can’t start a new one but maybe somebody else can?
I just read and reviewed the first book in Charles Todd's, "Bess Crawford" series. It was so good! I will leave my review here:"I was so excited to find a mystery series that is so well written and so completely riveting, AND icing on the cake, it is a clean read! I really enjoyed the main character, Bess Crawford, who is a nurse in WWl that finds herself in the midst of a family mystery while passing on a message from a wounded soldier. The book had the feel of a novel written in times past when the classic mystery novels were compelling and richly written, without the need for excessive descriptive violence or steamy scenes. I can't wait to read more of the, "Bess Crawford" series, and plan on reading Todd's, "Inspector Ian Rutlage" series as well.
An interesting side note is that Charles Todd is actually the pen name for a mother and son team that write these books together. Often co-authored books don't seem to turn out well, but in this case it works beautifully!"
Another really enjoyable and clean mystery series that I am in the middle of is the Charles Lennox series by Charles Finch!
