Ok loyal members of TNBBC, I have a question for you.
I am reaching out to Neil Gaiman in the hopes that he will join us at some point in the near future for an Author Q&A session to discuss his three books that we have read together as a group:

Neverwhere A Novel
Stardust
The Graveyard Book

How many of you would be interested in participating?

I am currently asking him which method he would prefer

- a folder in here with a set date/time-

OR

- a separate group where we can lay out folders and threads and even though we open for a set date/time, we can continue to leave it open for future questions if he were to pop in on a whim.....

well......??????

People are peeking, but no one is posting. Is it possible that there is no interest in having Neil Gaiman here to answer your questions and chat about his novels??!

That's why I love requesting online. The librarians get it and hold it for me. :D

I am sure others have library horror stories. But all in all when money is this tight the libraians do a fantastic job.

That's the same thing with me except that it's not because there is always someone before me (which I'm sure there would be) but the fact that most of his books mysteriously disappear o_0 It even puzzles the librarians! The catalogue says they are available and shelved but I can never find them (and I ask for help), except for some rare and very fortunate moments when I found two of his books in the 'new' shelf XD

But Lori, YES, YES :D

I was telling my daughter about my experiencs, she said mom they steal them. They put them in their backpacks and walk out. So you might want to pass that along. Now in our library they have a monitoring system, something like the big stores have. If the book has not been scanned an alarm rings.

They have an alarm system there as well which is good because we don't want any thieves :)

Maybe the books died and went to book heaven. hehehehehe

message 28: by Paula (new)

Paula Very interested!!!

I just finished "Stardust" as an audiobook read by the author. Wow! He is an amazing storyteller. They had a little interview at the end of the book and... it's official... I have a crush on Neil Gaiman - I think I could listen to him tell stories forever. I'm trying to cut back on book purchases, but his are worth every penny.

message 29: by Rauf (new)

Rauf You know...everyone who'd heard Neil Gaiman reading his stories all said they loved his voice and became an instant fan. I never listen to an audiobook of his but I have heard him talk in MirrorMask DVD audio commentary. I could see why the ladies love his voice -- deep and fatherly and all Britishy.

message 30: by [deleted user] (new)

YES! YES!

I'll go with the 2nd option.

message 32: by Jackie (last edited Sep 20, 2009 05:34PM) (new)

Jackie (thenightowl) For anyone who is interested in listening to the The Graveyard book, here is a book video tour of him reading a chapter at each signing. The complete tour can be found here: http://www.mousecircus.com/videotour....

Unfortunately, you can't download it but you can watch him read. :-)

(And I'm in the YA-Wild Things group too and he is a fascinating person. Would love to be able to talk more with him.)

Great news. Neil just contacted me about the author chat. I will be keeping you updated as I hear from him. For the moment it appears we will be looking at a one hour long live chat here within the group.

Nothing is locked in yet as far as a time or date....
Promise to keep you posted!

message 42: by Rauf (new)

Rauf Holy socks! Nice works, Super Mod. Neil Gaiman will be at the Singapore Writers Festival next month but I doubt that he'd make a visit to Jakarta, even though it would only take an hour to fly there :(
woe is me.

Hilary (renfrew) | 66 comments Please include me in! I met Neil Gaiman once, briefly, when he was last at the National Book Festival in Washington, DC. He was promoting Anansi Boys at that time. When he arrived it was like watching rock star...him in a black leather jacket and shades, the teens queuing up for miles and even screaming...

I was at that National Book Festival, too, Renfrew, and it was awesome. I don't think it was just the teens queuing up and screaming though. Ha, ha. What I thought was so magnanimous of Gaiman was that he did a second book signing after his talk because there were so many fans that had waited in line and hadn't gotten to him in the first signing before he had to leave for his talk in the tents. I was one of those disappointed fans in the first line who actually got to get my picture taken with him at the end of his second signings. He had been signing for a long time and was still gracious and upbeat. An amazing person and author!

I took part in an online chat with Neil in another group and it was wonderful. He is so great about keeping in touch with his fans.
