Full Name: Eilidh Niamh Adara Fiona Graceling

Apparent Age: Sixteen
Actual Age: One Hundred

Title: Princess

Born Gender: Female
Gender Identification: Female
Sexuality: Heterosexual

Fae Type: Elf
Court: Seelie

Appearance: Eilidh is undoubtedly a beautiful creature; mortals who have glimpsed her in their dreams have described her as ethereal and delicate, like an enchanted rose that one must conceal behind glass lest a passer by be captured by its beauty and reach out to stroke a petal, only for it to wither and fall. All the most beautiful things are delicate, so says Eilidh's mosther.
With her appearance unaltered, she stands at exactly five feet. Her skin is as pale as the moon, with not a single blemish to mar her perfect complexion. She has an oval face with dainty, symmetrical features. Her eyes are evenly spaced and neither too near to, nor too far apart from, her tiny nose, which slopes gracefully down towards a set of full rosebud lips. Her eyebrows are naturally thin and light, but her eyes are the feature that truly brings her face to life. They are wide and expressive, framed by long ginger lashes and ever-changing in colour. Their irridescence gives them the power of a chameleon, changing their hue to best suit the light. Her hair is a blend of every natural colour, from white to black, though you would have to examine each individual strand to tell, as each one is a different colour. Most strands, however, are a different shade of red, giving her locks an auburn hue. When left unbound, they fall to her hips in loose waves.
Her ears are pointed at the tips and she has a birthmark in the shape of a crescent moon on her ankle, but aside from that she does not look particularly inhuman.

Personality: EIlidh is a very dutiful individual. She has been raised by her parents to be submissive and obedient to her superiors. Ellowyn in particular took great pains with her, as it was Ellowyn's hope that Eilidh may one day be the key to ending the war. Thus, the adviser took care to thoroughly educate her about the world of the fae. From a young age, she was very knowledgeable about politics and faerie etiquette. Now, at age one hundred, she has been moulded into the perfect symbol of peace. She has both seelie and unseelie tendencies. She has been taught both to be cruel and kind, and to obey her husband in almost everything. She knows how to give wise counsel, but only to give it if it is requested of her. Most importantly, she knows the difference between her equals, inferiors and superiors and that there are distinct ways to treat these three classifications. She would never, for instance, bow to a mortal, though she has many mortal 'pets' that she allows to follow her around and admire her. She never tires of their compliments, and in exchange for obeying her every command, her mortal 'pets' are given food, water, pretty clothing and, most of the time, Eilidh's kindness. She can sometimes become impatient with her slaves, but that is far from uncommon in Elfane.
Eilidh is one of those people who knows when and how to be serious and when and how to have a good time. She also knows where the boundaries are. She adores the revels and is always leading a circle of dancers or playing an instrument for a group of awestruck fae, but never will she take a man to her bed, not until she is wed. She allows other men to earn kisses from her, but she will kiss only their cheek or allow them to kiss her hand or forehead. Never will she kiss their lips.
Eilidh is very close to her parents and obeys their every command. In return, she is rather spoiled and is accustomed to getting her way, though she is far from the brattiest fae. In fact, she and her handmaidens even sew clothes for the stolen human babies and the human slaves.

Thoughts on the Treaty: "I think it is a wonderful thing that our courts are finally coming together," [i]though I do not understand why we had to fight in the first place. The war cost so many good lives. "I eagerly await my union to Prince Mihail: we shall join our hearts and our courts and rule as high king and queen of the land for all time, what could be better than that?" [i]Does he even like me? Sometimes I get the feeling he does not. I know Zephyr liked me...No, I must not think of him. I am to marry Mihail, not Zephyr. Whether he likes me or not, we shall do our duty.

Power(s): Eilidh has the ability to turn into a mourningdove, a moth and a dragonfly. She has the ability to change her appearance, teleport, fly, move objects with her mind and control the five elements. She is able to see the past, present and future, though she cannot command visions to come, they come at their own will. She is however proficient with other methods of divination (tarot, tea leaves etc). She has the ability to tell if another is lying and to hypnotize humans. She has much more power over humans than she does over the fae. She can modify humans' memories, erasing events altogether or planting false ones in their place. She can also mess with humans emotions. The power she holds over humans does not work on the fae.

Biography: Eilidh was born one hundred years ago to Aodh and Arwen Graceling, the eldest of their children and thus the heir. As she was born during the bloody war, they had no time to find her a betrothed. Eilidh spent her days locked away in the castle, protected from all who may seek to harm her. She emerged from the castle only on celebration days, highly guarded. She had no less than three food tasters. Her parents took no chances.
Then, one year ago, a miracle happened. The war was ended with the signing of a treaty, and she was to be the glue that sealed the alliance. Well, her and the Crown Prince of the Unseelie fae, Prince Zephyr. She adored him at first sight, as did he her, but their happiness was short-lived. Another man coveted the Prince as a bridegroom for his own daughter, and as Zephyr and his father had refused in favour of the alliance and Eilidh, he placed a curse upon the prince. Zephyr could no longer marry her if he wished to keep his life. And so the new crown prince came into her life. She had given him little thought before, as he was only to be her brother in law. Now he was her betrothed, and together they would rule Elfane until the day they died: Prince Mihail was to be her husband.

Important Miscellaneous Information: Eilidh is a very talented musician, playing the lute, xylophone, harpsichord, lyre and hydrocrystalophone and she has a very wide vocal range.

Full Name: Allura Chantrea Athanasios-Harrow

Apparent Age: Eighteen
Actual Age: One Hundred and Fifty
Title: Lady

Born Gender: Female
Gender Identification: Female
Sexuality: Pansexual

Appearance: Allura is a dark and twisted beauty, standing at five feet and three inches, with unblemished skin as white as the winter snow that seems always to possess an ethereal glow. Her full lips are red as blood and part to reveal a set of pointed white teeth. Her emerald eyes glow when she is angered. Her ears, like many in Elfane, are pointed at the ends. Though her figure is wilowy, she has curves in all the right places. Her breasts are large, her stomach flat, her waist slim, her hips round. She is, in every way, alluring.

Personality: Allura is unseelie in every way. She loves nothing more than setting traps for unsuspecting mortals, dancing the night away at a revel and shedding the blood of those who cross her. She is known for her passive-aggressive nature towards most women and her thirst for vengeance against those who dare wrong her. On the surface, she appears sweet, almost saccharine. She is happy to be nice to those who are nice to her, as long as those people are fae. She gets along much better with those of her own court, but now that the war is over, she is willing to give the seelie court a chance to prove themselves worthy of this alliance. She is particularly curious to learn what is so special about Princess Eilidh.

Fae Type: Allura is a halfling, being half Anthropophagi on her father's side and half Asparas on her mother's.
Court: Unseelie
Thoughts on the Treaty: "I found the whole war thing rather amusing, but I am glad that my friends' safety is assured now."

Power(s): Allura has the ability to hypnotize everyone who does not have the power to resist hypnosis (or is not wearing a charm of protection). She can read the thoughts of others, fly, teleport, move objects with her mind and control the elements as well as the weather. She can turn into a dragonfly and alter her appearance.

Biography: Allura was born to Princess Melisande -- sister to Unseelie Queen Ursula -- and the Lord High Executioner, Thanatos. Growing up, she was taught to revel in bloodshed. She was always sat in the front row for executions. From a young age, her father took her human-hunting with him, taught her to fire a bow and handle many other weapons and made clear to her that her gender did not make her weak. He taught her how to be a force of nature, to use her gender to her advantage. Her mother taught her the art of seduction and manipulation while her father taught her the art of warfare and death. But not only did they take time to train their little girl, they took time to read to her, to tuck her in at night, to tell her that they loved her. They bought her fine things and ensured she had the best of everything. Before the war ended, Melisande was sure that she would be Mihail's bride. But then the treaty was signed. Still, Zephyr was the Crown Prince. Zephyr would marry Eilidh. Then Ravenna Blackwell's father had the nerve to curse Zephyr, and what happened? Just like that, Mihail and Eilidh were engaged. Of course, it's not that Allura loves Mihail. At least, she doesn't think she does. It was all about the power; power she will never have now. Her mother still hopes that Allura will become his official mistress, but Allura believes herself better than that. She is determined to marry well, and if any mistress will be taken, she will be the one taking them.

Important Miscellaneous Information: She is a very skilled archer. Actually, she knows a lot of ways to kill.

Tall and pale and dark-haired, there's no doubt in the slightest that Tenebris blood runs through Mihail's veins. Unlike the rest of the family, however, his eyes are darker, shaded a deep brown instead and only made to seem lighter by his thick eyelashes. In his youth, he wore his thick black hair almost to his waist, and this, mixed with the thin and dainty frame he still possesses, made it so that he was often mistaken for a girl. Now, he often retains that long dark hair, though cropped shorter to his chin so that the curls fall around his face and frame his high cheekbones: some might have said he looks almost wasting at his worst. It contrasts nicely with the pallor of his skin too, the stark whiteness accentuating the black and vice versa, adding sharpness to his features which gives him the appearance of being older.

Usually clean-shaven, he does tend to have a light stubble dusting his chin and upper jawline, the beginnings of a moustache sometimes daring to show themselves. The only facial hair he'll ever really allow to grow are sideburns, and even those are generally shaved to perfection. And, of course, there's the one imperfection he'll never be able to fix - arguably the bane of his physical appearance and the result of what might be considered a stupidly chosen dalliance and the beating Mihail received from her actual partner - that slight crook marking the break of his nose. Some have commented that it gives him a more thuggish look, and he takes full advantage of such remarks, though the half-distracted expression and side-smirk often discount from that and make him appear almost perpetually inebriated.

For the most part, Mihail takes pride in his appearance and does his best to ensure he looks handsome in that mildly unnerving yet elegant Tenebris way, whether this is through the way he dresses or merely the way he holds himself. He often ties or slicks his hair back when he wears it shorter, a habit which remains from when it reached his waist, although the volume makes it harder to handle and more often than not one can see the slightest of strands detaching themselves from the bunch and hanging down over his face. When his hair is cropped short, on the other hand, he keeps it slightly quiffed yet neat, sometimes dusted with glitter. Mihail dresses primarily in darker designs with a particular affinity for crimson, with silver decorations curved like the viper he so commonly wears across his shoulders. He adores jewellery; his fingers and ears are often decorated by a plethora of similarly snake-shaped rings which curl up his fingers and a golden pendant which addresses him as 'princess' permanently hangs around his neck, a joking gift from one of his sisters. More often than not, he darkens around his eyes with heavy eyeliner and isn't afraid of whichever other make-up he thinks appropriate for the occasion. He also bears a set of viper tattoos: a small one on the back of his neck, one curling around his left wrist and a similar one on his right ankle.

He aims for sophistication and sinisterness in his fashion, and he usually delivers it well.

Typically, the new heir to the Unseelie throne is found accompanied by his only trusted servant, an elf by name of Leontios, to the extent that he is almost deemed an accessory to the heir. Though some speculate as to an illicit relationship between them, this has never been confirmed nor denied. Leontios bares the ability to teleport; to move objects with his mind; to tell when another is lying; to view their thoughts freely; to converse with beasts; to hypnotise those who cannot resist; shift his face into that of another, and control flames, shadows, and any liquids with ease. He does not speak aloud, only whispers in his master's ear, and can be identified by the thin silver, serpentine collar worn around his neck.

Mihail has always put on a front of personality. Whilst that Tenebris darkness lurks beneath - cold and heartless and willing to do whatever it takes to get his way - he plays the bright and bubbly persona, a far cry from what he was in his childhood. It often seems as though he could switch at any moment, half the time apathetic and haughty towards most, and yet still willing and happy to approach anyone on the street just to flirt.

Raised near entirely by his sisters, and always cast aside as the youngest and least significant of the family members, he's developed a whinier personality around them; a spoiled streak brought on by their doting nature which he is startlingly unaware of, which only turns him into a diva half the time. Still, despite its obvious benefits, on the inside, he lives in stress about the sheer fact that he's the youngest in his family and he may not live up to their reputation (something about which he particularly worries now that he has been raised to the title of heir), but, in reality, Mihail has little to worry about, and the pettiness he shows when enacting revenge for the smallest of deeds only accentuates that and his ability to get overly attached to both objects and people. He is a serious romantic, often overly judging the level of the relationship.

Likes; snakes, philosophy, knives
Dislikes; Zephyr Tenebris, water, dogs

Mihail was born the youngest member of the already extensive Tenebris family, and, as a result, little was expected of him outside of general appearances within the Unseelie Court. Mother loathed her second son and had little interest in him, and Father had never shown much interest in the boy either, so he could easily spend most of his days in the philosophical pursuits that he much preferred. He could fall in love as he wished, and, as a result, ended up in a dedicated relationship with a Gancanagh named Sholto Evoris. They courted for close to a decade before the nobleman proposed, and Mihail had been on the verge of happily leaving his family home and thoroughly giving his life to the other, when the news that his brother's betrothal was broken reached him. All of a sudden, Mihail's entire life had changed: he was heir to the throne, forced out of his engagement, and made to marry some girl for which he had little care. Now, although he holds onto an illicit relationship with Sholto as best he can, he must keep up appearances.

Like his siblings, Mihail is half-naga and half-elf. He can communicate with and shift into a snake, and is unable to feel any fear. His pale skin appears soft to the touch, and yet, when one presses their fingers against it, they shall find it hard and cold, as if it were made of stone. He can create and control great storms, and shift water to his desires. He has an incredible tolerance for the cold, the ability to break another's will and force their submission, speak with such a silver tongue that they might bend to his will, and to create dark and trapping illusions from their worst nightmares. Finally, perhaps most dangerously of all, if he wills it, can kill a man with the force of a glare.

Full Name: Ellowyn Alethea Dusk

Apparent Age: Twenty Four
Actual Age: Five Hundred and Fifty

Title: Lady

Born Gender: Female
Gender Identification: Female
Sexuality: Bisexual

Appearance: Although Ellowyn is as ancient as some of the Wychwood's wisest trees, she looks not a day over twenty five. Her porcelain skin is soft and youthful, free of wrinkles and blemishes of any kin. She is tall and willowy, with slight curves in all the right places. A cascade of golden ringlets falls to her hips when unbound, thick and lustrous. Her eyes are the centrepiece of her face, two sapphire orbs flecked with gold and framed by long golden lashes. Her ears are slightly pointed, her retractable gossamer wings exquisite shades of green.

Fae Type: Ellowyn is a halfbreed. Her father was a mazikeen, her mother an elf.

Court: Seelie

Thoughts on the Treaty: "The treaty was my idea, how do you think I feel? Of course, I had intended Princess Eilidh to wed Crown Prince Zephyr...but the curse cannot be lifted. Nevermind, we shall simply have to make do with Crown Heir Mihail. Who knows, he may just surprise us. Maybe. Hopefully. If the wish I made that shooting star last night comes true."

Power(s): Ellowyn is able to fly, as well as hypnotize mortal beings. She can also hypnotize faeries who are susceptable to hypnosis. She can change her appearance, shifting into both human and animal forms. She is able to see the past, present and future, and has control over all four elements. She is able to teleport, move objects with her mind, summon objects at will and control the weather.

Personality: Ellowyn has been working for the Seelie Court since she came of age, so she is incredibly attached to the Graceling clan. Their sorrows are hers, their triumphs hers, their joys hers. There is no right or wrong way to describe Ellowyn, for she is a fae with many metaphorical faces. Most know her to be kind but professional. The saying 'the walls have ears,' definitely apply to her, as she is notorious for knowing everything that goes on in both courts. She has a miniature army of slaves, which she tasks with bringing her the latest information. After all, she cannot do her job properly if she is not properly informed, can she? And, alright, a part of it might be overcuriosity. She likes everything to go the way they are supposed to. She definitely wasn't happy when Zephyr got cursed and Mihail had to stand in as Eilidh's fiance instead. She has a bad feeling about this, but she's determined to make the best of it, for the sake of both the kingdoms. She is absolutely convinced that the kingdoms would fall into ruin if she were not there to prevent it. Whether she is right or wrong remains to be seen, but her overinflated self worth definitely pushes her to get a lot done. Some might say she thinks too highly of herself, but nobody can argue with the fact that she knows her place and respects the royal family, and nobody can argue with the fact that they value her intelligence. And she does have the point, she IS one of the most powerful fae around.
How she treats her inferiors depends on how they treat her. She is kind to most of them, but if they step out of line she is not afraid to remind them that they are beneath her.
Although it may seem as though she is happy in her job and wants nothing more than to keep the kingdom stable, a hopeless romantic is buried within her, yearning to break free. Though she (thinks) she keeps it well hidden, she is desperate for love and affection. Every time she arranges a union, she wishes someone would marry her, but she doubts anyone will ever love her.
Ellowyn is definitely one of the most eccentric fae you will ever meet, with a personality that changes as frequently as her wardrobe.

Biography: Ellowyn was born to Lord Ambrose and Lady Esmeralda Dusk. Ambrose was the previous royal adviser, and as his only child the responsibility, as per tradition, was to fall to her when she came of age. She spent her childhood learning from her father, going on trips to the palace and becoming acquainted with the royal family. When she came of age, the title passed to her and her father made a graceful retirement. Aodh and Arwen wished to end the war, not continue to fight as their ancestors had before them, so Ellowyn suggested they attempt to conceive several sons and several daughters, so that a marriage pact might be arranged. The idea would be that they would choose the most sensible to present to the royal family. When it became apparent that the Unseelie heir was a boy, they choose the most sensible girl, Eilidh, on Ellowyn's prompting, to present to them. And thus the war was ended.
But even though peace is on the horizon, she feels now more than ever the lack of a love in her own life.

Important Miscellaneous Information: Ellowyn is very fond of tea and as well as all the traditional teas she loves to experiment with infusions. As well as being the adviser for the seelie court, she is the court's official matchmaker. She arranges the unions of nobles and royals in the seelie court. When peasant couples wish to marry, they come and ask her to bless the marriage. She is also the seelie court's official event planner. When Eilidh and Mihail become rulers of the High Court, Ellowyn will become their adviser.

(This is her when her gifts fully mature. But she currently has the mahogany silver dusted hair. The guy with her will remain unknown...)

Fae Type: Elf
Court: Seleighe/ Sidhe/ Seelie Bright Court

Thoughts on the Treaty: The future is bright but a darkness looms within the Myst. Even in the brightest of day darkness is there watching. Nothing is always as it seems.

She also has the gifts of an oracle that include: Divination, Clairvoyance, Clairsentience (Empath), Precognition, Presentience, Remote Viewing, Aura Perception, Clairaudience.

Biography: Aleneil was born in Llachar Lle Logres, Elfhame along with her twin brother. Where they grew up in the home of their ancestors. Until time came for her to take her place in the temple among the seers of the same kingdome. Soon her gifts proved to be more than expected. She wasn’t just a gifted seer but a rarely born oracle. Therefore, she is often called upon to appear in various courts.

She's great. There's just one thing. The land of the fae isn't called Elfane here, it's called Evermoore. But I am impressed that you know what the faerieland is traditionally called! :) I have no idea why I called it Evermoore instead of Elfane haha. Anyway, she is approved.

Apparent Age: 19

Actual Age: 300

Title: Bodyguard to Aleneil

Born Gender: Male

Gender Identification: Male

Sexuality: Straight

Appearance:

Related image

Clothing: Usually wears a midnight blue tunic with a black cape and gray pants with brown knee height boots

Fae Type: Dark Elf

Court: Seelie

Thoughts on the Treaty: ̈ We may have peace now, but eventually this will all come crumbling down hard all around the naive.¨

Power(s): He is adept in shadow magic and physical enhancement magic. His prime talent resides in illusion magic and tricking the senses, regardless if they be human or fae. He has developed his arcane skills enough to emit a healing aura passively if he focuses enough. Along with that he can utilize barrier magic and wind magic

Biography: Edrahil was one of the many orphans caused by the great war between the Seelie and Unseelie courts. To make a living for himself to get out of the slums, he became a Freesword and lent his talents to any cause worth his time in morality and gold. Even if he entered tournaments he would leave unscathed and undefeated, mainly due to his obscenely high agility. Up until now, he was arrested for drunkenly brawling the royal guard, so to avoid being hanged he now spends his days being the bodyguard to Aleneil.

Important Miscellaneous Information:

He wields three swords: two broadswords and 1 rapier. All of the blades have fragments of iron infused with ebony, whilst the hilts are blood red with white runes depicting the elements are engraved in the hilt and blades.

Along with this, he has a matching set of knives in case he should need them. He usually carries around a set of lockpicks and other trinkets. He has a high affinity for alchemy. Along with a superb resistance to most poisons since he tested all of his tonics on himself.

The only armor he wears are a simple chestplate, a set of gauntlets and greaves, the rest is either cloth or leather clothing. The armor is also ebony, but has his signet engraved over his heart: an eagle

the_rabid_snail | 303 comments Full Name: Asphodel Diana Moonshiver
Apparent Age: 23
Actual Age: 263
Title: Lady
Gender: F
Sexuality: Heterosexual

Appearance: Unlike most of her siblings, Asphodel has pale blonde hair a few inches past her shoulders. Normally she keeps it up in a braided bun or French twist, but occasionally she’ll curl it and leave it down, although that hasn’t happened since she took over as the Lady Moonshiver. She has the same, wide caramel eyes as her younger sisters and a slender figure. She has little to no curves and a small bosom, but she’s still as classy and graceful as any lady of high society. She is about 5’9 but only weighs roughly 103 pounds. Her skin is extremely pale, even for an elf, and blue-green veins are visible on the undersides of her forearms and all up and down her long legs. The only scar to mar her porcelain skin is a slash on the underside of her right forearm, but she always covers it with long sleeves. She has an angular face that sports far too many wrinkles already for her age, and her cheekbones could puncture skin. She has a delicate nose and ears and a sharp chin, and she has short, dark eyelashes. Her nails are normally adequately long, but sometimes she chews them down until they bleed when she’s stressed. She never paints them like her sisters do, probably because they taste gross when she bites them. Her limbs are long and lean, but her carriage isn’t awkward at all. She’s learned how to use them to her advantage, especially now that she’s grown into them as an adult.
Asphodel’s dress style is a little more unconventional than most of the other ladies and royals. At parties and important events, she’ll wear normal gowns like all the other women. Usually it’s something gauzy, delicate, and ethereal. The rest of the time, however, she wears plainer, shorter dresses and, in the privacy of her own chambers, trousers and lovely blouses. She always wears a pair of slippers that matches her outfits, and her taste in jewelry and adornments is simple and elegant. She never wears anything gaudy or heavy.

Fae Type: Elf
Court: Unseelie
Thoughts on the Treaty: “I will sleep better once the marriage has occurred and the treaty is sealed. Then things will be safer for my family.”

Power(s): Asphodel has perfect night vision and acute senses of hearing, smell, taste, balance, proprioception, pain, sight, touch, and temperature. She has mastery over shadows and darkness and also has weak powers of suggestion. The latter is more her younger sister’s thing. In addition, she can control the elements of water and fire, and she is able to visit the dreams of people she has either a strong emotional or blood connection to but cannot control the dreams of others even while visiting them.

Family:

Parents: Jarlen (deceased) and Morrigan (deceased)
Siblings: Kolfinna, Wolfram (in-law), Athanasius, Lucien, Killian, Belladonna, Eoghan (in-law), Kairos, and Silvan
Husband: Ozul
Daughters: Eirlys and Ennata
Nieces: Ianira, Velika, Catriona, Melantha, Badriyah, and Isolde
Nephews: Lycidas, Arawn, and Melchior
Uncles: Faustino and Diarmid
Aunts: Ursula and Brienne
Cousins: Margherite, Rosa, Luciana, Semele, Eva, Zephyr, Chiara, Mihail, Demetrius, Kane, Merlin, and Signy

Biography: Asphodel was the third child born to her parents. She lived a particularly comfortable life since her mother was a sibling of one of the current Tenebris monarchs and her father was a middle-ranking nobleman in the Unseelie Court. Although not a single fancy or comfort was denied her, she rarely would have described her childhood as happy because her mother mostly ignored her. Morrigan was usually too preoccupied with her older sister, Kolfinna, to pay much attention to her. She often had her father’s attention since he tried his best to make time for her, but it was hard not to be jealous of Kolfinna sometimes.
While her mother never took an additional husband, it was rumored that she had secret lovers as a few of her children looked suspiciously different from each other and her husband. Asphodel was one such child. Her father also never took another consort, and if he did have any mistresses, he kept them secret. Morrigan was insanely jealous and a little bit possessive of him.
Asphodel became the mother figure to her younger siblings as her mother didn’t seem to realize some of them even existed. Her mother also routinely forgot the names of the youngest children, so far too many of the responsibilities of parenting fell to Asphodel instead. In hindsight, this turned out to be something she was grateful for because it helped prepare her immensely for her mother’s death.
Since her mother didn’t care much about her, she married a minor nobleman without much trouble, though she had to wait for Kolfinna to marry first per her mother’s instructions. However, when it was discovered that Kolfinna was barren, her mother was heartbroken. She then made Asphodel the Moonshiver heir right before dying in an accident with Jarlen. Asphodel and the two siblings she was closest with, Athanasius and Belladonna, debated privately whether or not it was really an accident. The three of them decided not to say anything to Kolfinna, who was distraught enough already about never being able to bear children.
Once Asphodel became Lady Moonshiver, she had two daughters, Eirlys and Ennata, but was never able to have any other children. With the amount of stress she was under, it was difficult enough to conceive twice, so doing it a third time proved to be impossible. She envied the ease with which her younger sister conceived, but she was never the jealous type and didn’t have much time to worry over it anyway.
Her brother Athanasius got engaged to a low-ranking noblewoman named Alyssandra, but when her family found out, they forced her to break off the engagement. Apparently Morrigan had gotten into a horrid fight with the woman’s mother a few hundred years ago and had never been forgiven for it. Besides Kolfinna and Belladonna, none of her other siblings got married. Kairos went through lovers like you would go through paper napkins, but none of her brothers seemed too interested in consorts or lovers. It didn’t help that Morrigan had alienated a lot of the nobility, but by the time Asphodel had managed to repair many of the relationships her mother had damaged, it was a bit too late.
While she’s still occupied navigating the complex social circles and political scenes, she is looking forward to the joining of the two courts and swears she will feel less stressed once the marriage has happened, though everyone knows she will still be just as stressed.

the_rabid_snail | 303 comments Kolfinna A. Moonshiver - Part One

Full Name: Kolfinna Acadia Moonshiver
Nicknames: Finn (her favorite nickname), Finny, Finna, Kola
Apparent Age: 24
Actual Age: 270
Title: Lady
Gender: F
Sexuality: Heterosexual

Appearance: Finn has silky, dark brown tresses all the way down to her hips. Typically, she gathers several curls and pins them off her face or behind her head with ornate, jeweled or beaded combs, leaving the rest of her thick locks of hair to fall freely. The only times she wears it completely up is for special occasions since it takes large amounts of time to organize her masses of hair like that. Her solemn eyes have hazel irises and wide pupils framed by medium-length, dark eyelashes, which make her eyes appear slightly bigger than they actually are. Although her eyes are sorrowful and clearly reflect her emotional torment, there is still something strangely beautiful and enchanting about them, which fascinates both human and fae alike. Finn is the most slender of all her siblings, but it subtracts more from her physical appearance than it adds to it. While she is not as emaciated as she used to be, she is still somewhat bony to the point that it is a little unattractive. The outlines of her ribs are clearly visible if she wears anything too formfitting or sheer, and her overall body is very angular and sharp, especially in most of her joints. Her spine and both scapulae protrude from her back, and her already sharp kneecaps and elbows are only further accented by her lack of muscle and fat. Even though she has an elegant, long neck, the effect is somewhat ruined by her collarbone jutting forcefully out. Her chin and cheekbones look nearly razor sharp, and the rest of her face is gaunt with very pronounced facial features. Her lips are thin, though pretty, pale pink in color, and her nose is thankfully small and delicate already and doesn’t look as overly sharp as the rest of her. She has dainty, elfin ears that taper gracefully to a point and thin yet dark eyebrows with a slight arch. She is only half an inch taller than her younger sister, Asphodel, and is just as graceful in her movements. Her own nails are always medium length and well taken care of as she is not the habitual nail-biter her sister is. Her bosom is exceptionally small due to her past malnourishment, and the envious curves she used to have are now very little.
Finn never wears anything form-fitting or sheer. Because of her near-anorexic appearance, she only wears floor-length gowns to cover most of her physical grotesqueness, though much of the boniness around her face and neck can’t be hidden. Since her ankles are delicate and weak enough already, she wears flat shoes or simply no shoes at all. She likes to wear bright flowers in her hair as well as combs set with pearls or other jewels, but pearls are her favorite. As an added bonus, they stand out against her dark tresses.

Fae Type: Elf
Court: Unseelie
Thoughts on the Treaty: “Asphodel keeps saying she will feel more relaxed when the treaty is sealed through the marriage ceremony, but I know she will just find something else to be equally stressed out over. I suppose, personally, the treaty does not really matter to me very much. I care not if we are at war or if we are at peace. The odds of me dying during either are equally slim with my Wolfram and all the family bodyguards around. Still, this treaty is important to my sister, so for her sake I hope nothing interferes with or prevents it.”

Power(s): Kola has enhanced senses of sight, hearing, smell, touch, taste, proprioception, pain, vibration, balance, temperature, and chronoreception. She also has perfect night vision like her siblings and can visit the dreams of others, but she is a more powerful dream walker than any of her siblings who possess the ability. Not only can she visit the dreams of others, but she can control them to some degree and can visit the dreams of anyone she has encountered or anyone either related to someone she knows or someone she has visited the dreams of instead of just being able to visit the dreams of blood relatives or people she is strongly emotionally connected to. She can control air, water, fire, and darkness, but she has no powers of suggestion like her other siblings have and cannot control earth or light. She does have telepathic abilities, can sense the presence of magic or magical beings, and is the most powerful of her siblings.

Family:

Parents: Jarlen (deceased) and Morrigan (deceased)
Siblings: Athanasius, Asphodel, Ozul (in-law), Lucien, Killian, Belladonna, Eoghan (in-law), Kairos, and Silvan
Husband: Wolfram
Nieces: Ianira, Eirlys, Velika, Catriona, Ennata, Melantha, Badriyah, Isolde
Nephews: Lycidas, Arawn, Melchior
Uncle: Faustino and Diarmid
Aunt: Ursula and Brienne
Cousins: Margherite, Rosa, Luciana, Semele, Eva, Zephyr, Chiara, Mihail, Demetrius, Kane, Merlin, and Signy

Biography: Kolfinna was the eldest child of Jarlen and Morrigan Moonshiver and was expected to inherit the title of Lady Moonshiver. Her mother began grooming her to fulfill her role practically as soon as she took her first breath of air. Looking back, it seems as though her mother thought she didn’t have much time left before something would happen to her since nearly every second of every day while her mother was alive was only ever about her future as Lady Moonshiver. Her mother kept her isolated from her siblings for the first hundred years of her life, though that may not have been entirely on purpose. Even though she’s had over a hundred years to reflect on her mother’s methods and even though she was the closest to Morrigan out of all her siblings and even her father, much of why her mother did the things she did remains a mystery to her.
It wasn’t hard to figure out that most of her younger siblings were jealous of the way she got their mother almost completely to herself. A few of them grew especially resentful of it and of her. However, she wished she could make them understand that it wasn’t really all that great. Her mother did not actually love her very much and was mainly just using her for her own, twisted ends. Still, her younger siblings never understood until after their parents died and much of what their mother had done finally came to light between the eight of them. But Kola could never blame them for that. They were younger at the time, and all they knew was that their mother cared infinitely more about Kola than them.
The older she became, the more her mother disclosed to her. Apparently Morrigan had been nursing a murderous grudge for being passed over for the Unseelie throne for an exceptionally unreasonable amount of time and had been plotting how to take what she believed to be rightfully hers ever since. Kolfinna soon came to learn that she was to play a considerable part in her mother’s plan, but she had no interest in a throne. She really had very little interest in any important title at all. Most of the time, she just wished to fade into the background or to be a minor noblewoman, but her mother would never take no for an answer.
When she was nearing one hundred years old, her mother informed her that she would be married as soon as possible after she came of age to one of the Unseelie noblemen. Kola became even more disheartened when she heard the news. She had fallen for a middle ranking nobleman, but she knew her mother would never allow it because his position was not high enough. How would she ever survive life with some strange nobleman? She had come to look forward to her midnight rendezvous with Wolfram when she was able to see him. They were the only times she was able to be out of her mother’s direct line of sight. Or so she thought.
She was too naïve to realize that she was always watched. Her mother made sure of that. As unstable as Morrigan was, some part of her must have realized that she needed to throw Finn a bone if she didn’t want her to internally break and defy her wishes, so she gave Wolfram and Kolfinna her blessing when they were both of age.
Finn was happy for once after she married Wolfram. At least whatever nefarious plan her mother was plotting, she wouldn’t have to deal with it entirely alone. Wolf turned out to be a stable presence in her life, although he kept his distance when her mother was around. She didn’t blame him for it, but she still wished he would show a little more backbone at times. Still, she was grateful that he would defend her honor when the other nobility and royals made particularly nasty remarks about her behind her back since her mother had done some pretty horrid things in the past. Wolf had always advocated not judging or tormenting people for the mistakes of their parents.
After being married for several years, Kolfinna was puzzled that she had not yet borne a child. Her mother didn’t help in this instance, insisting that she hadn’t been trying and even insinuating that the marriage had never been consummated, though she knew it had. Eventually they discovered that she was barren and would never be able to bear children. A devastated Kolfinna fled immediately to her chambers and refused all food and drink until the next day when Wolf convinced her to at least have a glass of water. For weeks she ate very little and kept herself confined to her rooms, only accepting Wolf’s company. She refused to comply with any of her mother’s requests to see her, even when the requests became demands, and then, threats. Wolf, Athanasius, Lucien, and Asphodel’s husband, Ozul, took turns watching her door both night and day. After learning from Kola some of the things Morrigan had done, they didn’t trust their own mother not to try to at least scare Kola into cooperating and submitting. An outright attempt was never made, but the four fae all admitted to feeling watched and seeing shadows move in unnatural ways during their rotations.
To make things worse, her mother disinherited her and made Asphodel the heir, but she died soon after in an accident with Jarlen. Although they tried their best to keep her from hearing the hushed debate, Kolfinna knew Athanasius, Asphodel, and Belladonna suspected some kind of foul play, probably at least somewhat on their mother’s part. She never let on that she knew; she was too tired and miserable to care much.
The months dragged on, and she continued to barely eat. Wolf insisted on waiting on her himself, hand and foot, which she appreciated. She wasn’t much in the mood to deal with anyone else. However, once she began to look like a ghost of a fae woman, Asphodel and Wolf decided they had had enough of this. They pushed her to eat more, pulled her out of her chambers and into public areas of the mansion, and talked at her until she replied. Kola hated it, though she could never be very angry with Wolf for very long. Her sleep was mostly plagued by nightmares, and she could hardly sleep at night for fear of them until Wolf came up with a solution. If she could no longer control her own dreams, then she could share his dreams. It worked, and she gradually regained control of her own dream magic again once she started eating more.

Biography cont'd:
Kolfinna has become the mysterious Moonshiver sister after being locked away from the rest of the world for so long and still rarely is out in public for shame of her current figure. Slowly her eating is returning back to normal. Because she ate little to nothing for long enough, her body must adjust to small amounts of food at a time. Otherwise it all just comes back up if she attempts to eat normally like she used to. Wolf fiercely stands up for her even if she is not present; he regrets not having her back more when it came to her mother. And her relationships with her siblings have been repairing steadily. The siblings she is closest with are Asphodel, Athanasius, and Lucien, and she and Ozul get along nicely as well. Her relationships with her youngest siblings are still a bit strained, except for Silvan. He naively loves everyone but is too shy to show it. Now she’s just hoping that no one will notice her at the wedding of Mihail and Eilidh and that she can disappear as soon as it is over.

Important Miscellaneous Information: Whenever a member of her family suffers from bad dreams, Kolfinna will visit them and ensure the rest of their night is peaceful if they wish.
She likes to spend time with her nieces and nephews, especially Ianira, Velika, and Lycidas since they are the quieter ones and are content to sit in silence with her sometimes. Oftentimes she enjoys doting on them as if they were her own children.

Full Name: Elysande Oriana Eulalie Alastriona Lycoris
Apparent Age: Sixteen
Actual Age: One Hundred
Title: Lady
Born Gender: Female
Gender Identification: Female
Sexuality: Polyamorous Pansexual/Romantic

Appearance: Elysande is a strange and unearthly creature, that is a fact that cannot be disputed. She stands at exactly four feet. She has not grown since her fiftieth birthday and it is predicted that she will not grow a single inch taller. She had the body of a child, despite being a fully grown woman. Her breasts are small and soft, her figure so slender and frail that it seems a single fall could shatter her into a thousand tiny shards of glass. Her skin is as white as snow, though her illness shows through it. Most days it is just a little too pale, though not too pale to be unattractive. When she is very ill, however, it may take on a slight tint of grey, giving her the palor of a fresh corpse. Her eyes are exquisitely beautiful, large purple orbs flecked with speckles of gold, encapsulated by long silvery-golden lashes, but her illness sometimes causes them to sink into her skin and casts them in shadow. Her glistening, pointed teeth are as sharp as needles, and her pointed ears ideal for hearing conversations that take place beyond the window of her tower.
Her hair is pure white, with breathtaking silver undertones and gold overtones that make it appear as though the rays of the sun have been woven with the beams of the moon. When unfound, which is often, it falls just past her hips like a rippling waterfall.

Personality: Most of the time, Elysande is very articulate and well-spoken, as she has had plenty of time to read and perfect her vocabulary. However, there are times when this may not be so. When she is in severe pain, she cannot speak at all, except telepathically. When she is particularly distressed, she has a tendancy to speak nonsensically, sometimes in rhymes or riddles. Quite often though, her vocabulary is like a perfectly polished diamond.
Elysande has had everything handed to her on a silver platter, from slaves to exquisitely crafted instruments to exquisite coronets meant to remind her of her importance. She is, after all, a noble lady. She has become somewhat of a Shahrazad, as she has had plenty of time to practise her storytelling, but it is others' stories she most likes to hear, stories of the outside world.
She has come to terms with what she is now, and what she must do to stay alive, but she is still slightly melancholy about her confinement. She knows why it must happen. If she was allowed to roam free, many more would die. There would be a good chance that she would unleash her powers on them to stop the pain, whereas in here, she is being given enough to survive without damaging the population. But that has never stopped her curiosity about the outside world or the people in it. Though, of course, Elysande would never do anything forbidden. At least, she would like to think so. She thinks of herself as a true lady, just the way her mother taught her to be.

Fae Type: Elf
Court: Seelie

Thoughts on the Treaty: "Eilidh has not yet told me about her new betrothed. I know that she was happy with Zephyr. She told me so. She visits me, you see. Eilidh is one of my favourite cousins...I do hope Prince Mihail -- forgive me, Crown Heir Mihail, treats her kindly."

Power(s): Eulalie can be roughly translated to mean 'sweetly speaking.' On the day of her naming rite, Goron granted her a gift to go along with his curse -- the gift of the silver tongue. He had hoped that she would use it to lure unsuspecting victims to her death. What he has given her, in plain terms, is an incredibly powerful form of persuasion that is almost impossible to resist unless you are a very powerful fae, or armed with many protection charms against these enchantments. He also granted her an ethereally haunting singing voice that would draw anyone who listened towards her. It will not kill them. No. Goron assumed that she would be tempted to do that herself. She does use these gifts, but not to lure unsuspecting victims to their deaths. She is well fed, so she has no need of them. No, she uses her gifts to get other things she wants.
Unfortunately, the curse has affected her magic in other ways too. It has become mostly a destrictive force. She cannot kiss anyone who does not know about the curse, or they will die instantly. So she must tell the person before she kisses them, and if they fear her when they kiss her, they will die. All plants that do not also bring death in some way wither and die when she touches them. She has the ability to move things with her mind, telepathically communicate with others who have the gift of telepathy and levitate, though due to the curse, doing too much magic wears her out sometimes. She has the ability to communicate with animals, which explains why she is never without her cat, Luna. She has enhanced hearing, smell, taste and touch. She occasionally dreams of the future and can often make accurate predictions with the aid of tools (tea leaves, crystal balls etc).
Weaknesses: She is unable to fly, because her wings were removed for her own safety when she was an infant. Her eyesight is not enhanced as it should be. In fact, quite the opposite. Her illness makes it worse. When she is in severe pain she cannot see at all. She has the typical faerie aversion to iron. Sunlight causes her pain, how much pain will depend on the day, that is one of the reasons she does not leave the tower. She is bedbound most days and, when she is not, she cannot walk far. She often cannot walk without assistance.

Biography: Elysande was born to Lord Alzor and Lady Ferelith, the latter being a distant cousin to Queen Arwen of the Seelie Court. The couple were overjoyed to finally have a child of their very own, as they had been trying for many years. They hand-picked each of her names carefully: Elysande, meaning healthy and strong, a symbol of what she had emerged victorious from her mother's womb, while her predecessors had perished within; Oriana, golden dawn, to symbolize the start of a new chapter in the Lycoris' lives; Alastriona, 'defender of mankind,' for her parents had fought fiercely to bring peace among the courts, and even among fae and mortal kind, and hoped that she would wish to do the same, and finally Eulalie, 'sweetly spoken,' for the first cry she uttered was as sweet as a nightale's song.
Three days after her birth, a goblin arrived on their doorstep. His name was Goron and he had a proposition for the new parents. He wished to be pledged to their infant daughter in betrothal, to be married upon her flowering. In exchange, he would personally see to it that an alliance was made between the seelie and unseelie courts, and mortals were given fairer treatment in Elfame. But they loved their little daughter and, though they knew how politics worked, they saw not how a person they had never even seen at court before could deliver on such a promise. Furthermore, they wished for Elysande to choose her own life partner when the time arrived. They turned him down. That was when he swore to them that he would do all that he could to have Elysande at his side, and if he could not, to shatter every dream they had ever had.
All were invited to her Naming RIte, and all who were invited arrived. As her parents stepped forward to present her, Goron stepped out of the shadows. Snatching the baby from her mother, he presented her to a shocked Seelie Court, before placing a curse on the child.
"This child will die within three days
Lest her parents break their ways
And she on others' lives sustain
Though she forever be in pain
Blood and sinue, bone and heart
For her to stay, one must depart
A creature of the darkness is she
And finding love shall be hard indeed
For dare she kiss an ignorant soul
They shall perish at her hand
My warnings, you should heed
But should she tell them, they may kiss
And all may lead to wedded bliss
He may even break my curse
Unless he fears her
Then it's worse
For he will die a painful death
And she will draw her final breath."
To keep her safe from the curse, her parents locked her in a tower in their castle. They hired slaves to look after her, giving them strict instructions that they were never to kiss her, not even on the cheek, unless they had absolutely no fear of her at all. Of course, they all knew that the curse referred to a lover's kiss, but they could never be too careful, so only a few dared to kiss her. Her cousin Eilidh was among them. Her parents gave up their activist ways, for who could now take seriously two people who were encouraging the capture of mortal and faerie alike so that their daughter could devour their meat, bathe in their blood, suck out their soul and eat the crushed powder of their bones with medicinal healing herbs?
Her parents have spoiled her in compensation for the curse and the fact she cannot go outside, even though she is desperately curious about the outside world. Although she has come to terms with her curse and does not particularly mind devouring the souls of others, she does want to know what the outside is like.

Important Miscellaneous Information: Elysande loves to sing and often does. All of her visitors and slaves wear very strong anti-hypnosis charms, but she has never tried to eat one of them. If anything she has just tried to get them to make her a cup of tea and she needso nly command that anyway. She plays many instruments, is very artistic, and has an array of beautiful nightgowns, and some fine dresses for visiting days. Lady Ellowyn Dusk is her Earth Mother.

the_rabid_snail | 303 comments Full Name: Nissa Rosalia Nightwind
Apparent Age: 17
Actual Age: 105
Title: Escort
Gender: F
Sexuality: Bisexual

Appearance: Nissa has chestnut brown locks of hair in luxurious curls to her mid-back. Usually she either wears her hair half-up half-down with the half-up portion ending in a braid or pulls it all back into a thick French braid. She loves to experiment with a variety of different hairstyles, but those are her go-to’s. In stark contrast to her dark hair, she has wide, crystal blue eyes flecked with tiny specks of silver that sparkle like falling snow when the light hits them just right. Her velvety soft skin isn’t as pale as some of the other fae, but it is still quite fair, especially in comparison to the mortals. She has dainty and petite facial features to match the rest of her small frame, which is slightly shorter than average for an elf. Her delicate nose is gently upturned just a bit and is centered perfectly on her face, and her glittering eyes are just the right distance apart. She has full, sweet lips of pale orchid pink, a softly pointed chin, and gently arched eyebrows that match her hair color. She has a soft, full bosom and gorgeous, envious curves to complement her slender figure and dainty feet with skin as soft as lambs’ ears on the undersides.
Above all else, Nissa prefers clothing that is revealing yet still covers enough to tease the imagination. Lacy or sheer dresses are stables in her wardrobe, and oftentimes they include long slits down the sides, showing her finely shaped legs. The necks of her gowns dip low, and the skirt and sleeve lengths vary widely. Various bracelets and rings adorn her wrists and fingers, and gold or silver anklets dangle around her ankles. Small chokers, pendants, and elaborate necklaces are her favorite neckwear, and dangle earrings are another of her jewelry preferences.

Fae Type: Halfing (half elf and half siren)
Court: Seelie
Thoughts on the Treaty: “Of course I support it. As the mortals say, ‘duh.’”

Power(s): Nissa can alter various things about her physical appearance, including her hair, eyes, skin, lips, height, and build. She is an empath and is able to sense the emotions of anyone around her at will but not their actual thoughts, and she can manipulate the emotions of others to some extent. Her emotional manipulation is more powerful on humans than other fae, though. She has minor telepathic abilities, but those only extend to an exceptionally strong will and the ability to keep most other fae out of her head. She has no actual mind-reading or telepathic manipulation powers. She can control the elements water, earth, and air, with her strongest element being water. In addition, she has small powers of persuasion that mostly tie into her empathic abilities unless she makes skin-on-skin contact with someone, at which point she has the ability to utilize tactile hypnosis. Her tactile hypnosis is another ability that works best on humans or weak-willed fae. Her last ability is her persuasive and sometimes hypnotizing singing voice, depending on the type of fae, strength of will, and the presence of any wards or charms against hypnotism.

Family:

Parents: Mortimer and Nona (deceased)
Siblings: Remy, Naenia, Nikolae, and Magena
Uncles: Zesiro, Carlin, Zimori, and Zion
Aunts: Eudora and Beata
Cousins: Lennon, Torin, Nerine, Filip, Rook, Rosabel, Ephraim, Stellan, Dulcinea, Frey, and Perdita

Biography: Nissa was born into the Nightwind family, a family that thrived almost solely on crime. She was the third child born to her parents, Mortimer and Nona, and was expected to pull her own weight when she was old enough. Her first jobs were small-time thieving tasks like pickpocketing or shoplifting with her older siblings, Nikolae and Naenia, and her older, half-brother, Remy. Because she was the youngest and smallest (even for her age), Remy, Nikolae, and Naenia would often provide distractions while she swiped money, food, other supplies, and anything else they wanted for fun. Her cousins usually joined in the fun as well, and as children, there was no greater pleasure than throwing whatever town or city they were in into chaos. Her cousin Lennon was one of the wildest of them all, along with Torin and Rook, who routinely drove everyone nuts with their practical jokes. However, she didn’t get along with all of her cousins. Her father’s brother, Zimori, and his wife wanted nothing to do with how they survived and kept their six children away from Nissa and the rest of her family. On the rare occasions she did see them, Rosabel and Dulcie teased and mocked her relentlessly for her shabby clothes and tomboyish ways, and Stellan and Frey picked on her and tried to publicly humiliate her by whatever means necessary. Perdita was too young to understand much of what was going on, and Ephraim mostly just kept to himself, which she appreciated. She would rather have a friend but one less tormentor was better than another bully. At least Nikolae and Naenia stood up for her when their cousins overwhelmed her since she was the easiest target. Magena was still very young at that point and no fun to tease, Naenia wasn’t even around usually, and Nikolae had the thickest skin of anyone she’d ever met and just chose to not be offended by most of what their cousins said or did. She always admired that about him. Things seemed to go a lot smoother for him than they did for her.
Sadly her cousin Lennon also endured much of the teasing as she was an illegitimate daughter of Mortimer and Zimori’s brother, Zesiro. To avoid embarrassment, Mortimer and Zesiro’s sister, Eudora, and her husband acted as if she was one of their own children, but Lennon had always known who her real father was, even if her birth mother remained a mystery. Her own inner turmoil and wild ways perhaps stemmed from not knowing her real mother and why her mother did not want her. Either way, with the exception of Ephraim and Perdita, Zimori and Beata’s children never gave her a break about it. Nissa and Lennon eventually decided to band together and cause Rosabel, Dulcie, Stellan, and Frey just as much misery as they’d suffered. With their criminal cunning, they were more than successful.
Once Naenia and Nikolae started getting older and more mature, they moved on to other things. Her older sister took up the fraud portion of the business with their Uncle Carlin and Uncle Zion, and Remy and Nikolae entered the business of finding (by means any necessary), selling, and smuggling valuable and hard-to-find objects. Torin also aged out of petty thieving along with his sister, Nerine, leaving Nissa to be in charge of her younger sister, Magena, and Lennon, Filip, and Rook. To her surprise, she was better at flirting with people to keep them distracted than she was at doing the actual thieving. Also during this time, Ephraim left his parents and siblings to join her and her family in their illegal ventures and ended up fitting right in. She had always known he was the odd one of her Uncle Zimori and Aunt Beata’s children since he didn’t share his parents and siblings’ aversion to her and her family’s lifestyle.
As she continued to grow older, she and Nikolae and Naenia grew farther apart. Things got even worse when their mother, Nona, was murdered by another faerie and no justice was ever administered. Nikolae withdrew into his smuggling even more, and Naenia switched to the Seelie Court as soon as she came of age to start a new life free of any criminal activity. Nissa and Nikolae had radically different reactions to everything that happened. Nikolae became a little heathen and got all sorts of idiotic ideas about humans and fae being equals, although he wasn’t going to quit the smuggling business and become some righteously angered activist, as he put it. Meanwhile, Nissa ended up working part-time in gentleman’s clubs and some other unreputable establishments until it became most of her life. She wasn’t ashamed to say she was good at what she did, even though Nikolae constantly criticized her chosen occupation.
When she came of age, she switched courts without many problems since she had already built up a decent clientele there. The only real problem was Nikolae, who didn’t want her to go but still refused to accept her profession. To make matters worse, they got back into the ages-old debate of the superiority or equality of fae to humans and parted ways angrily. The last thing she said to him was, “shut up, you pagan loser.”
Even though her main residence was in the Seelie Court, she still spent a substantial amount of time in other courts as she had made a reputation for herself among all different demographics. Even some of the various nobility were or had been her clients at one point. If she wanted to, she could have made a fortune off blackmail or intelligence via pillowtalk, but it seemed too much like something her family would do.
Soon after she switched courts, she started to feel watched. But even though she looked over her shoulder, walked in circles, and changed up her routines, she neither figured out if anyone actually was following her nor quit feeling like someone or something was tailing her and spying on her. This continued for quite some time until she was approached by a fae she recognized as the Seelie Court advisor. Naturally she was flattered beyond measure at the prospect of working as a spy and though she wasn’t sure it was a good idea, accepted anyway. She got the feeling that she didn’t really have a choice in the first place.
Now she has been a spy for the Court of Secrets for a couple of years, sneakily extracting information from her various clients and seducing anyone she thinks has important or applicable information. She also is Lady Ellowyn’s eyes and ears in other courts and keeps tabs on potential threats whenever she has work in the different courts. In addition, she plants any information she is instructed to, keeps dangerous fae “occupied” when necessary, uses her numerous underworld contacts to help the Court of Secrets as needed, swipes or copies down sensitive information for Lady Ellowyn, persuades, coerces, or bribes people when ordered to do so, and does anything else Lady Ellowyn and the Court of Secrets requires of her.

Oooh I like her! <3 Do you want her to live at Graceling Castle or just in the Seelie Court? Either way, you can make her chambers or residence now. :) And you'll have to think of a spy code name for her and tell me what it is.

Crow | 87 comments Full Name: Connall Varys Tenebris
Apparent Age: 22
Actual Age: 397
Title: Prince of Ice
Born Gender: Male
Gender Identification: Male
Sexuality: Heterosexual(But he'll flirt with anyone)

Appearance: (view spoiler) He has a scar across the right side of his face from a blast of Drake fire that he covers with a minor illusion. Connall prefers to dress in slivers, blacks, and either dark blues or light blues. His clothes generally have a thin dusting of frost, due to his power.

Fae Type: Frost Fae
Court: Unseelie
Thoughts on the Treaty: "The treaty, don't make me laugh, that treaty is an excuse for one side to gather more soldiers find a loophole and declare war on the other." Connall never really paid much attention to politics while he was in court, so the treaty doesn't really mean much to him. He thinks that neither court will ever truly lay aside all their grudges, he believes that sooner or later one side will get fed up with the other and worm their way out of the treaty and he'll be their laughing at those who had believed in it. He doesn't bear the treaty any ill will though, in fact he doesn't really care how it turns out as long as he isn't on the loosing side.

Power(s): As one of the Frost fairies he has a considerable amount of control over ice and can shape it to his will. The temperature around him is almost always freezing, with a fine coating of frost left in his wake as he walks. At will he can freeze any body of water near him. As a High-blood Fae he has heightened strength, sight, and smell.
Personality: Connall carries himself with a quite arrogance befitting a Fae of his stature. He has a short temper and is not afraid to voice his opinions. Connall has a strong sense of loyalty and will always side with those he believes will return his loyalty with more loyalty. He cares deeply for the well fare of the Unseelie court and those Fae who live within it and will always try to do what is best for the realm.

Biography: Connall Tenebris was born to Temerilion Tenebris the brother of the King of the Unseelie, and Myrtale Frost a frost fae. He was raised alongside the Kings own children and granted the title of Prince since he's father was brother to the king. At the age of one hundred fifty he was gifted a small keep at the edge of Unseelie land and was told to defend it to his dying breath. At the time he had thought it was a great honor that he had been sent to defend his kingdom, but when he arrived he saw the keep was crumbling into the ground and no nearby court appeared even remotely interested in invading. He had been sent away from Tenebris castle because his uncle the King had decided that he was was a threat to the legitimate heirs to the throne. So he spent the next hundred year lazily relaxing in his keep waiting for his King to call for him. He longed to join the war against the Seelie Fae that would give him leave to call his banners and leave the godforsaken pile of rumble that he was forced by oath to guard. So he was finally set free when his king gave him leave to join the war against the Seelie Court. He gathered his men and marched to the Unseelie/Seelie border and led frequent raids against the Seelie Court. Soon he had built himself a reputation as ruthless commander, loved by his men and hated by the Seelie faeries. He spent years along the border sowing destruction until the day he heard that a treaty had been signed, at hearing the news he had raced back to Caste Tenebris to see if his uncle had lost his mind. When he saw that his uncle had agreed to the treaty of his own free will, Connall gathered his men, left Castle Tenebris and returned to his keep, sure war would soon follow the treaty. Now Connall patiently waits for either the treaty to fall apart or for invitation to the upcoming wedding of his cousin.

Important Miscellaneous Information: Connall acts as if he doesn't desire the Throne of the Unseelie but secretly he want to rule. When he was young Connall swore a blood-oath to the Crown Prince the soon to be King of Seelie and Unseelie and would do almost anything to have it revoked. He can't tell a lie, it annoys him to no end but he can't tell a single lie, which gives some people the assumption that he can be trusted. Which of course would be wrong.

When Connall was younger, the Crown Prince of the Unseelie Fae would have been Zephyr. Now it is Mihail, as Zephyr has been cursed. Does that mean he swore a blood oath to Zephyr? If so, what is the oath he swore?
Also, the line of succession is different here. The king CHOOSES his successor. So, Faustino chose Zephyr at a young age to succeed him on the throne (despite Zephyr not being his firstborn son) but then Zephyr got cursed and so he chose Mihail as a replacement. When you say the king is threatened and fears for his children, do you mean that Connall thinks Faustino believes that Connall would kill his children so that he would have no choice but to put Connall on the throne? Does Connall believe that the king thinks Connall would find some way to scheme his way onto the throne?

message 19: by Crow (new)

Crow | 87 comments Okay so the oath was unwavering loyalty and the promise to help him should Zephyr ever call on him for aid. I was thinking that Faustino distrusted Connall because he thought that Connall was to ambitious and might make a bid for the throne by doing any of the things you suggested but in reality Connall would only try to scheme is way onto the throne if he believed Mihail was not worthy.

XD sorry for not making it more clear.

Full Name: Silana Omera Vin Schol
(Vin Schol is her last name)

Nickname : Firesoul, Ember, Coal, Scorcher.

Apparent Age: 25

Actual Age: 459

Title: Assigned Boygruard. BodyGuard of any Nobels/Visiting Royals.

Born Gender: Female

Gender Identification: Female

Sexuality: Heterosexual

Appearance: Hannah Waites

https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&r...

( Has a scar that crosses from the edge of her jaw, down her neck, and to her shoulder. It’s as thick as her hand when folded. And crawls down to inbetween her shoulder blades. Usually has burns on her hands and wrists. )

Fae Type: Fire Fae

Court: Unseelie.

Thoughts on the Treaty: We might be at ease at the moment, though war festers underneath it all. One wrong move and it’s enough for it all to go to waste.

Power(s): As one of the Fire fairies, she has a very high amount of control over fire and can conjure, and manipulate it to her will. The temperature around him is almost always burning, her body above average temperature. To the point where if she doesn’t release any of her fire, it will begin to exit her body through body temperature, burning whatever she comes in contact with. At will she can burn any object in a quarter mile radius. As a High-blood Fae she has heightened strength, sight, and smell. Though she was born with too much fire. To where when she needs to cool down after, she still burns with too much fire. Embers Can often form from her skin and just, drift away from her. When that begins, it’s a warning sign that she might need to let some of that energy out. It wares her down often, she eats an unnatural amount of food throughout the day. She stretches and moves around, pacing. She can’t keep still.

Biography: Silana was born into the court of Unseelie, into an infamous family. The Vin Schol’s. Scourchers. They were called. Since there were so few fire Fae’s that used their powers. Their overwhelming powers. Some people were frightened when Silana was born. When her mother’s scream shook the kingdom of Unseelie, and their home almost burned into ashes. Silana was born with too much fire. Twice the amount of an average fae. For she had done something with her twin in the womb. Destroyed it, took its fire. Kilt it.
There was no doubt she would leave her court. She was an Unseelie.
As Silana grew, she struggled to leash her fire. To not burn herself, or set fire to her home. Her friends, family. Pets. That happened until her hundred and fiftieth birthday. Then she began to control it all. When a simple pair of gifts given to her that day from her grandfather. Gauntlets, and a sword. Each with a ruby that sparkled. The color of fire. An enchanted ruby that helped her control it all. It absorbed her fire, diminished it. Controlled it. It helped her.
She developed the habit of waking at 0430 ever morning. To go for a run. To find her hiding spot and meditating. And then to practice in a lake. Where her fires would be challenged by the water. There were no fish. No plants. Just a large pool of untouched water. By the time she was home it would be 0925. Every morning she was not a minute late nor early.
Silana is the eldest of five. The strongest of five. Then it became four. Then three.
Then it was just her and her mother. Broken and shaken. Crippled by the savage Seelie’s that dared to cross that border and attack her family. Before the treaty. Before the peace.
She watched them die.

It was her fire that saved her. That burned those horrid Fae’s to nothing but ash. Even their bones were gone. The only reminder of them is a large scorch mark on the old tiled floor.
Hatred festered in her heart.

It was years after this that the King of Unseelie had discovered her. Helped her. Her mother. Only to trick her into a life contract of service. She was to be a bodyguard. To be a weapon for only desperate needs.

Silana had been there when they made the treaty. Signed it. Had almost lost it. But she kept her her fire leashed. Controlled.

Now Silana, works as the bodyguard and guide of higher importance. It paid well, and her mother was safe. She found happiness in painting and sold it for extra money. To feel useful.
Silana developed the ability to release energy by embers. Releasing them from her skin. It’s a warning sign that she needs to be alone. That people should back off.
Only few didn’t heed her warning. Those deaths have been pardoned.

Important Miscellaneous Information: This women can not keep still. At all. Even in her sleep, or being unconscious, her body seems to move in some form. Twitching, random spazzing. She often seems like she is having a seizure in her sleep. It’s starling.
Her greatest fear is herself. Her powers. She sometimes fears her own flame.
Has a blind spot in the corner of her right eye. Has to turn her head to see in that area.
Her mother is the most important thing to her. She’d rather die a thousand painful deaths than to see her mother get any illness or injury.

the_rabid_snail | 303 comments Sereia Indra Gwenore Nerissa Halloran - Part One

Full Name: Sereia Indra Gwenore Nerissa Halloran
Nicknames: Sera, Reia, Neri
Apparent Age: 18
Actual Age: 196
Title: Crown Princess
Gender: F
Sexuality: Heterosexual

Appearance: In her mermaid form, Sereia has gently rippling waves of silky, silver hair a couple of inches past her waist. To keep it from snagging on and tangling around things, she keeps it braided or pinned up when she swims long distances underwater. Her eyes are bright, glittering teal and even without the help of magic, could enchant anyone who dares to meet her imposing stare and see the softness behind the cold. She has pale, creamy skin with not a single blemish and a graceful, slender figure. Her facial features are smooth and soft, and she has a petite nose, delicate ears, rounded cheekbones, a dainty chin, and a small forehead. She has long, lean arms with slim hands and elegant fingers and a flat stomach, full bosom, and lovely curves. Her powerful tail is longer than her torso and covered in gorgeous aqua, cerulean, teal, pearl, and silver scales.
When she shifts into humanoid form, she tends to look much the same but without the tail. Depending on where she is, she will take on a more elf-like appearance, human-like appearance, or another type of humanoid fae-like appearance. Whatever form she takes on, she never looks any less intimidating than she does in her natural form. Because of the fae species her father belonged to, she can also shift into a stunningly beautiful white mare with a long, silver mane and tail and a large water bird.
When Sereia is in her mermaid form, she wears crowns of shells, corals, pearls, or silver for more regal occasions, but for less formal things, she adorns her hair with flowers, sea stars, and other various fauna or wears simple, gold or silver circlets around her forehead or atop her hair. In humanoid form, she tends to wear elegant, sheer gowns in blues, greens, or purples and silver or gold crowns with pearls and small shells. For more casual events or everyday things, she wears her circlets instead. Most of her dresses are form-fitting and slightly revealing to show off her envious figure, and several of them have been designed to resemble mist.

Fae Type: Halfling (Mermaid/Each Uisge)
Court: Undersea
Thoughts on the Treaty: “It’s insulting. If my mother the Queen can rule the third most powerful court all on her own, I don’t see why we can’t remain independent. I don’t care if the Seelie and Unseelie Courts keep fighting or not, but I do not want to be dragged into this alliance they concocted without consulting the rest of us. Typical elves. They only think of themselves and their own courts.”

Personality: Sereia is an independent, cunning, and spirited individual. While she is slightly less mischievous than she was in her younger years, she still has a love of adventure and diving headfirst into the unknown. Never has she been known to sit still in contentment. Of course, her untamed spirit and thrill-seeking nature have gotten her into endless trouble, and she has learned various lessons from the escapades that ended up hurting herself or others. As she has aged, she’s gotten better about thinking through the possible consequences of her actions, but oftentimes she does whatever it is she wants to anyway and figures out a way to get out of trouble later.
Carefully laid out plans always end up being wrecked by her, though many times it is on accident. She is better at making things up as she goes along rather than following a previously thought-out plan and is easily bored, preferring to flirt with danger more than playing it safe unless something important enough is at stake. If something would endanger her family or court, she will do anything to the best of her abilities to prevent it, even if it means depriving herself of her courtship with disaster for a time. She is very protective of her family and court, especially her brothers. Vengeance is swift and particularly painful for anyone who tries to hurt them.
Even though she is quickly bored with tedious, day-to-day tasks and inane projects that require her to sit still for long periods of time, she is a very focused individual when it comes to just about anything else. Not many fae, even including the royals of other courts, possess her discipline and determination. Self-motivation has never been an issue for her, and she also forces herself to undergo strict punishments for any failures, except if she failed to do something she thought was especially stupid and pointless.
On the outside, Sera seems cold and heartless. She possesses a severity to her that not many others her age have acquired yet and is the most self-disciplined out of all her siblings. However, her fiery temper is usually fairly easily provoked, and depending on her current mood and whom she’s with, she may or may not make any attempts to control it.
To those who know her better, she is very wily and fun-loving when she allows herself to be, but lately that side of her has come out less often. A particular seriousness dominated her demeanor after the loss of Chernomor, and all her adventures became much fewer and far between. She still is not the most patient person and definitely has a cruel streak in her, but she’s not overly haughty and elitist like some of the other royalty both in her own court and in other courts. At formal events and around royalty and nobility from other courts, she is cold, sharp, and quite intimidating, but the rest of the time, she lets loose a little more, especially around her brothers, and can keep up with even the wittiest of banter.

Power(s): Sera can shapeshift into a human, a large water bird, and a sleek, white mare with a silver mane and tail. She can control water, air, light, darkness, and the weather, and when underwater she can use electrolocation instead of sight if she wishes. She has enhanced senses of sight, smell and hearing, and she can communicate with and understand sea creatures. In addition, she has the ability to see the future but only if it concerns disaster, destruction, loss, or any other kind of unpleasantness. Sometimes she receives visions at will, and other times they come by their own will. She also can communicate with others telepathically, has exceptionally strong mental barriers, and has powers of hypnosis, illusion, and suggestion. Being half mermaid, she can breathe underwater, and her abilities are strongest when she is in or close to water.

Family:

Parents: Chernomor and Morwenna
Siblings: Beowulf

Biography: Sereia was the eldest child born to the King and Queen of the Undersea Court. Her mother, Morwenna, was one of the merfolk, and her father, Chernomor, was an Each Uisge. The Each Uisge are malevolent shapeshifting water spirits similar to the Kelpie. They can shift into human, horse, and water bird forms and mainly torment humans. Often they appear as horses and allow humans to ride them, but as soon as they see water, any rider becomes stuck to their back and they head for deep water to drown them and eat their flesh, leaving only the liver untouched. Typically they are mistaken for Kelpie, but they inhabit salt water or large inland lakes and are far more dangerous. In their human form, the only way to tell they are fae is by the water weeds, sand, or mud in their hair.
Out of all her siblings, Sera was one of the closest to her father. Her fiery temper, intimidating nature, and several of her other mannerisms and personality traits were inherited from him, and she was easily his favorite daughter. He taught her how to shapeshift into horse, human, and bird forms and how to make any and all water bend to her absolute will. Despite how much he cared for her as his child, he was a cold teacher and punished her harshly for even minute failures. As a young child, Sera had been sweet and kind albeit feisty, but her father hardened her through his strict lessons, legalistic rules, and unrealistic expectations. Still, she loved her father, and her favorite pastime was racing him in horse form through the woods and streams and by the sea.
Her relationship with her mother was very different. Morwenna expected her to behave like a princess: to be obedient, capable, intelligent, polite, kind, graceful, patient, truthful, and disciplined. Sera was easily capable and intelligent, and she was disciplined in her magic and abilities. However, she did not meet the requirements of the rest of her mother’s expectations. For a long time her relationship with Morwenna was very strained and rocky, reflecting the state of her parents’ marriage at the time. Chernomor was usually off doing his own things, killing mortals, seducing women, eating the humans’ livestock, and disappearing with Sereia, leaving Morwenna to rule much of the Undersea Court on her own. Sera was no help in this respect as she was usually off with her father, neglecting her own duties and following in her father’s footsteps.
Her relationships with her siblings were better than her relationship with her mother. She wasn’t as close to them as she was with her father, but she was especially fond of her younger brothers. Sometimes they would spend days at a time by the lakes, seas, or oceans in the mortal lands together, exploring, pretending to be human, racing as horses along the shores under the moonlight. Being the fastest of her siblings, she usually won, but not always. There were no rules, and she and her brothers were not above playing dirty and using their magic to win. She was not as close with her sisters since she was the only one who was at all tomboy-ish, and they simply didn’t share many interests. Though to be fair, it wasn’t like she tried very hard to establish good relationships with them.
Even though she was the fastest of her siblings, she could never outrun her father. Chernomor was the swiftest of his kind, but she never ceased trying to beat him even so. One day, while they were racing at twilight, Sereia came closer to outrunning him than she ever had before. Encouraged by this, she forged on, jumping over fallen logs and galloping with as much speed as she could muster. The wind tangled the silver locks of her mane behind her, and her coat gleamed in the light of the rising moon. It was an exhilarating experience as always and one that she never tired of. Somehow, she managed to pull ahead just barely and, determined, kept on. Her hooves thundered on the dirt trail, and branches poked at her sides as she charged on. But she paid no mind to any of the usual, minor obstacles. Looking back, she wished she hadn’t been so intent on winning. If she had paid more attention, she might have prevented the tragedy that befell Chernomor.
Apparently, Chernomor had seduced and killed a young woman living with her family nearby in the woods, and the husband, father, and brothers of the woman saw Chernomor racing through the forest and killed him with iron weapons. The only reason Sereia had outrun him was because he had been hurt and killed. She turned around just in time to see the final blow delivered. With a distraught neigh, the hunters noticed her and went after her as well. Furious and enraged, she turned and sprinted towards the lake nearby and didn’t stop until she’d reached its shores. When the hunters caught up with her, the water was subject entirely to her will. She only thought, and tentacles of water erupted from the peaceful surface of the lake and knocked the men off their feet. The water twisted and roared, pulling the men into the water as colossal waves buried them hopelessly deep in the lake. One of them was an exceptionally strong swimmer, and so Sera forced a mouthful of water into his lungs and froze it before sending him to join the others at the bottom.

the_rabid_snail | 303 comments Sereia Indra Gwenore Nerissa Halloran - Part Two

Biography cont'd: There was only one man left: the one who had delivered the killing blow to her father. Angry clouds gathered over head and lightning scorched the ground nearby. Terror was evident the eyes of her father’s killer as she shifted into human form, but she didn’t care. There would be no mercy. She opened her mouth and sang a siren’s song. The terror disappeared, and nothing but undying admiration and obsession were left in the hunter’s eyes as he willingly walked towards the lake and to his own, imminent death. She sang higher and higher and higher until she reached an impossibly high note at which point the hunter was seconds away from unavoidable and certain death. She broke the spell just long enough for him to realize what he had done, but at that point it was too late. The mammoth waves overwhelmed him and swiftly sent him to his watery grave to join his family. As the storm ceased and the waves calmed, Sereia collapsed into a pitiful heap on the water’s edge.
When she next awoke, she was on the back of a horse being carried back to the fae realm. One of her brothers had come to take her home. She quickly lapsed back into unconsciousness and didn’t wake up again until she was home. For days she was confined to her chambers and forced to rest. She had never used her magic like that before and was exhausted beyond imagination. The first few days she was home, she was barely awake, but after that she was up and about. Everyone was careful not to talk about what had happened in front of her, but she heard whispers nonetheless. She came to realize that had it not been for her father’s rigorous and intense training, she would have surely perished with him at the hands of the hunters and their iron weapons. Thanks to him, she was nearly unparalleled by any fae in the Undersea Court with water magic.
Out of everyone in her family, the grief hit Sereia the hardest. Morwenna mourned intensely as well, and they finally found something in common. During this time of vulnerability, her mother took it upon herself to influence her in ways she hadn’t been able to before. Sereia started to understand the importance of what her mother did and what it took to rule the court. Eventually, she decided she had the strength, cunning, will, and power to do it too if something happened to her mother. She had always been the Crown Heir. There was never any doubt about it, but now she fully understood what that meant for her personally. While she would never be the perfect princess her mother wanted, she was still a notably strong and wily one. Somewhere along the line, her mother came to terms with the fact that Sereia would never be exactly what she had envisioned her daughter being, and their relationship was the better for it.
Sereia made a reputation for herself across the various courts. It was her goal to ensure that everyone knew not to mess with her, her family, or her court. Per her mother’s instructions and very strong wishes, she did not outright oppose the peace treaty to unite the courts, but she made no show of being overjoyed about it either. When Crown Prince Zephyr was cursed, she hoped that would put an end to the union by marriage nonsense, but Prince Mihail was simply made the Crown Heir instead, which infuriated her to no end. To avoid all-out war and not risk every single court attacking the Undersea Court, she decided not to do anything to destroy the treaty. But if an opportunity came up with a high enough rate of success that wouldn’t guarantee the total destruction of her court, she would be sorely tempted to take part in it.

Important Miscellaneous Information: Sereia can play the flute, harp, and other similar instruments and has a lovely singing voice even without using her magic.
She loves games, sports, theatre, and horses, and she has gained a reputation for being able to tame even the wildest of animals. She also takes part in the various tournaments within the Undersea Court.
Most of the fae in the Undersea Court respect and love her, though the nobility have mixed feelings about her. The fae in other courts have varying thoughts about her as well, but she is widely respected and feared by many. The general consensus seems to be that she is a bit of a wild card and a powerful one at that.
She also has very few servants and strongly prefers to do things herself. She only keeps the bare minimum amount of servants necessary and is mostly indifferent to them as long as they perform their duties well and don’t disrespect her.
Because she can foresee disasters with frightening accuracy, she is often sought after for her ability, but she only rarely uses it for other people besides her brothers and a few other people she’s known a long time.

the_rabid_snail | 303 comments Ianira B. Moonshiver - Part One

Full Name: Ianira Bastet Moonshiver
Nicknames: E, Nira, Bas, Bassie
Apparent Age: 16
Actual Age: 98
Title: Lady
Gender: F
Sexuality: Heterosexual

Appearance: Ianira has a head full of thick, wavy, ebony hair to her waist. Normally, she wears it down, but lately she’s been wearing it up in an effort to look more mature. Braided buns are currently her favorite. Her eyes are bright green with tinges of ice blue and a few flecks of silver, and she has a killer set of long, dark lashes to frame them. She has ghostly pale skin even for an elf, but it gives her an eerie, otherworldly sort of beauty. Her frame is slim and lean with petite, bony shoulders and ribs that slightly protrude from her chest. She looks quite nearly anorexic, and it subtracts from her overall appearance. Despite this, she does have some curves and a decent bosom. Her face is sharp and angular, and her cheekbones are especially high and prominent. She has thin, pale lips, small, pointed ears, a delicate nose, a small forehead, and a sharp chin. She is a habitual nail biter and so has short, ragged fingernails, but her toenails are always short and neat, though she refuses to paint them whatsoever. She never paints her fingernails either, probably because the polish tastes gross when she chews on them. Her limbs are long and limber; she’s very flexible but possesses hardly any strength at all, unlike many of her family members.
Her taste in clothing is simple, nothing overly ornate or gaudy. She prefers neutral colors and clothes with simple, clean lines. She doesn’t wear anything too form-fitting as she is embarrassed by her figure, so most of her clothes are loose-fitting or slightly baggy to give the appearance of a little meat on her bones. She wears some jewelry and prefers necklaces or small earrings. Bracelets and rings are too distracting for her to bother with. She also wears very light, natural makeup to accentuate what beauty she possesses.

Fae Type: Elf
Court: Unseelie
Thoughts on the Treaty: “I’m glad the war is over now. Unlike many in my court and some in my family, I am not bloodthirsty or supportive of any form of violence. However, with this treaty, my life is over. What am I saying? I never had a life to begin with. But any hope I had of actually having a life of my own is gone with this treaty. I don’t want to wish further harm on anyone, but… now I will never escape my mother’s control, and I will never have any semblance of freedom. And Nikolae… No. I was never going to tell him the truth of my feelings for him anyhow. I suppose things are easier in that respect since I have no chance with him because I have no chance of getting away from my mother now. I wish I had the privilege of being born a commoner…”

Personality: Ianira is the quiet, bookish child of the bunch. She’s a daydreamer who’s obsessed with obscure lore, and she’s very booksmart. She’s a fountain of knowledge and random facts and can rattle off lengthy lectures and monologues having read them only a few times. Her voice is soft and soothing, but she can be very dramatic when reciting or reading something out loud, which is why her siblings always wanted her to read to them when they were younger. However, in front of strangers, she gets a huge lump in her throat and can barely read above a whisper.
She has a near photographic memory, which is why she can memorize things so quickly after being exposed to them for only a short time. This has helped her immensely with all the tedious studying that her mother and tutors always assigned to her. She loves reading but is easily distracted during her studying as she would rather be learning about obscure mythology. When she wants to be, she can be very focused; nothing can tear her attention away from what she’s doing unless it’s something she doesn’t care about. Then, the dust particles moving in the air could distract her.
She is very detailed in everything she does but is often sidetracked by small things instead of looking at the whole picture. Context never holds much meaning for her, and her central coherence is very weak (while most people would complete the phrase you go hunting with a knife and… with a gun or compass or something that makes sense, Ianira would complete it with the word fork instead, but no one goes hunting with a knife and fork. Thus, her weak central coherence). She also struggles with theory of mind, or her lack thereof. She finds it difficult to put herself into others’ shoes and is completely puzzled by the fact that no one else thinks like her, which often leaves her feeling isolated and lonely. In addition, she doesn’t understand why she can’t always persuade people to agree with her opinions; in essence, she doesn’t realize that people can change and still not think like her. When she fails to change someone’s mind, she thinks that there was some flaw in her logic or that she failed to make her points correctly and will go over and over it in her head until she finds where she went wrong.
It is often said that Ianira is cold and apathetic, but while it may seem that way, it’s actually not true. She does care for her family, especially her sister, Velika, but she doesn’t know how to show it very well. Plus, she doesn’t have much spare time these days to hang out with her family ever since her rigorous studies started.
She’s very creative and enjoys making up her own stories. Sometimes she would tell them to her younger siblings when no one else was around. She likes to stay in her own, little bubble and detests any sort of change. In her mind, all change is bad. It irritates her and can send her into panic or anxiety attacks. She doesn’t like to try new things and likes to follow the rules unless she thinks they’re stupid or pointless.
She often says that she was born to be a hermit. She doesn’t like most people, would rather do everything herself, and needs a lot of alone time to decompress. People tire her out, especially since she is terrible at seeing boundaries and has a lot of trouble reading body language, tones, and facial expressions. Luckily, her sister has taught her enough to survive the social activities and events she is expected to attend, and she’s learned how to cover her mistakes most of the time. As a fae she cannot lie, so she’s learned how to say things without directly lying that gives other people false impressions. A lot of times the things she says don’t exactly mean what you think they mean.
Because she keeps to herself so much, she’s developed an air of mystery, which attracts a lot of the male fae from the various nobility, but she usually gives off a ‘leave me alone’ vibe when she’s around lots of other people. So, most guys don’t ever seriously pursue her. Most of the time they’re just messing with her, and there’s been a long series of males daring other males to get her to go out with them.
She has a good work ethic, part of which was instilled in her by her mother, and will never give up on anything unless it’s stupid or pointless. While never giving up is a good trait to have, it can be more harmful than helpful as she doesn’t always know when to give up. Sometimes she takes things too far, but she rarely shows her anger in public. She’s learned how to act and blend in like a chameleon. Even when her anger does become visually apparent, she’s not physically violent. She’s too afraid that she’ll break something and deeply regret it later. This she’s learned from past experience.
In summary, Ianira is very smart and observant, noticing things and patterns that most people miss, but social etiquette and cues elude her. It’s like everyone except her got a handbook that explains how to deal with social situations and other people. She means well but is often misunderstood and unable to confide in anyone but Velika.

Power(s): Ianira has heightened sense of sight, hearing, smell, taste, temperature, pain, vibration, pressure, proprioception, and balance, but they are more acute than those of other people who have enhanced senses to the point that is often more a hindrance than an advantage. She has power over darkness, water, air, fire, and earth but not light. She can visit the dreams of others and can control the dreams she visits to some extent. In addition, she is able to visit the dreams of nearly anyone if she has seen or met them before, if they are a blood relative, or if they are a blood relative of someone whose dreams she has previously visited. She can also cloak herself while visiting the dreams of others so that they cannot detect her presence. She did not inherit any powers of suggestion or empathic abilities from her mother, but she can communicate telepathically to others with the same ability and has exceptionally strong mental barriers.

Family:

Parents: Eoghan and Belladonna
Siblings: Velika, Lycidas, Arawn, Catriona, Melchior, Melantha, Badriyah, Isolde
Uncles: Wolfram, Athanasius, Ozul, Lucien, Killian, Silvan, Talbot
Aunts: Kolfinna, Asphodel, Kairos, Salome, Vashti, Theodora, Eluria
Cousins: Eirlys, Ennata, Egan, Sigmund
Grandparents: Jarlen and Morrigan
Great-Uncles: Faustino and Diarmid
Great-Aunts: Ursula and Brienne

Biography: Ianira grew up as the eldest child and the favorite of her mother, Belladonna Moonshiver. When she was born, her mother immediately decided that Ianira would become an important and influential lady and would be engaged to the highest-ranking nobleman she could find. In fact, Ianira can’t remember a time when she talked to her mother about anything besides her academic studies and her social duties. Pretty much as soon as she took her first breath outside the womb, her mother had been conditioning and grooming her for her great destiny. At least, that’s how Belladonna saw it. She ensured that Ianira’s training was especially rigorous and thorough, the lonely girl hardly ever getting a break. Even as a small child, her mother would force her to burn the midnight oil in the library or in the other areas of the castle. By the time she’d entered her teenage years, she knew at least twice as much as most other nobles and royals of her age, but that wasn’t good enough for her mother. Her studies only became more difficult and time-consuming, and any hopes she had of having a life outside of the royalty and nobility were dashed. The only things she was allowed to do outside of studying was to attend social events hosted by the royalty and the court’s elite, but she disliked the grand parties and social circles and melodramas of the powerful and elite. While her mother and siblings seemed to fit right in as if they were in their own home, she always felt useless and even lonelier since there wasn’t anything to distract her. Even among her own family, she feels isolated and distant and doesn’t usually know how to interact or talk with them. The sister directly after her, Velika, is the exception. Velika is Ianira’s most trusted confidante and friend and is the only one she feels like she can be herself around. They’ve always been close and always have each other’s backs no matter what, especially since their mother cannot be trusted to be reliable in any sense of the word. But Velika doesn’t know everything that goes on in Ianira’s head. Ianira still has her own secrets and feelings that she’s too embarrassed or ashamed of to tell even Velika. Whether or not Velika is aware that she’s been less than forthcoming about certain things is all speculation.
Since Ianira has spent so much time in the mansion’s library, she knows almost exactly where every book is and has read at least half of the vast collection of volumes.

the_rabid_snail | 303 comments Ianira B. Moonshiver - Part Two

History cont'd: During her studies one day, she came across a book jammed into the back of one of the bookshelves and deciding it was more interesting than what she currently was studying, sat down on the floor to read it. It was full of myths and forgotten tales of long, long ago, and she was so absorbed and entranced by it that she finished the entire tome in one sitting many hours later. If the candles hadn’t been magical, their dim glow would have been extinguished long ago. She ended up falling asleep on the library floor that night near the fireplace, using the tome as a pillow. When she woke up a few hours later, there was a red imprint of the tome on the right side of her face, which was pointed out to her by Velika in the hallway outside when she got up. Unfortunately, she’d overslept after a full night of studying and reading and had only ten minutes to be ready for breakfast with a noble family the Moonshivers were close with. Thank goodness that Velika had been there to help her. Otherwise, she would have been a lot later than a couple minutes. She still got an earful from her mother because Belladonna always liked her to be ready early, and her mother doubled her schooling load for the next month. She was forced to become accustomed to getting very little sleep.
Just about ever since she could remember, she’s had to wear these uncomfortable, itchy dresses to various social events with her mother and family. Her mother started taking her when she was old enough adequately educated in proper etiquette, and she’s always hated them, though they were more tolerable when she was younger. Not many people but her mother, the especially powerful relatives, and some pretentious snobs expected her to behave perfectly then, so as long she didn’t mess up in front of them or her mother, things were fine. Most of the nobility and some of the royalty found her shyness and timidity adorable, but there were still some who found small children annoying. Ianira always kept to herself at these functions and events. Her mother didn’t directly say that children should be seen and not heard, but Ianira knew that was what she meant, which was fine with her. She preferred being invisible anyway. Her Aunt Asphodel always encouraged her to participate and say what was on her mind, but she always shook her head and backed away; she hardly ever spoke a word in public.
Of course, as she got older, things changed. When she reached her teens, she was expected to socialize and appear completely at ease when her mind was really racing and butterflies were flitting about in her stomach. She had trouble talking about things she had no interest in (as her interests didn’t match most of the female nobility and royalty of her age), and detested small talk. To her, it was the most useless thing ever. Why did people ask other people how they were doing if they didn’t really want to know in the first place? All they wanted to hear the other person say was, “I’m fine. How are you?” And all that person wanted to hear, “I’m well. Thanks for asking.” And then they would talk about something even more inane, like the weather. Sometimes that just infuriated Ianira for no reason. But as she would say, “why the heck would you talk about the weather? There are millions of more interesting and thought-provoking subjects to discuss. I refuse to believe that everyone is just that brain-dead that the best conversational topic they can come up with is the weather.” Once, she slipped up and told a noblewoman at a party that she was tired and bored and that her pet had just died that morning and that she really didn’t want to be at this party presently, and the girl she spoke to gave her a weird look. For the next month, no one from that noble family would even acknowledge her, and they even were testy and on edge for a while with Asphodel and Belladonna, whom they called the Matriarch Behind the Curtains. Later she found out that she’d talked to the daughter of the Lady Nightkill and that the party had been at the Nightkill mansion. She never saw the girl again until her Uncle Athanasius got engaged to her. She learned that the girl’s name was Alyssandra, but she never really talked to her. She was too scared that Alyssandra would bring up the incident at the Nightkill party and behave cruelly towards her.
Belladonna had caused this type of fear by mistreating Ianira whenever she made the slightest slip. Ianira never resented her mother for it; she was fine with being a door mat, though Asphodel often tried to get her to stand up for herself. Her mother conditioned her to strive for nothing less than perfection and to obey her every command. She taught Ianira that she was worthless when she made a mistake, but she did also tell her that she was above most of society and deserving of greatness the rest of the time. Still, the damage had been done, and Ianira feels absolutely zero self-worth, except for the times she does something right in her mother’s eye, which happens almost never. Her mother always has a critique ready for her, and Ianira has not quite realized yet that she will never be good enough for her mother. Her view of the world is almost completely through her mother’s lenses, but one good thing she inherited from her mother (and Asphodel) was her sense of duty, though it was a bit different from Belladonna’s sense of duty. Belladonna felt only a duty to herself and Ianira, but Ianira felt duty to her whole family, just like Asphodel.
Even though they didn’t have a relationship, Ianira was still sad when Alyssandra’s parents forbade her from marrying Athanasius and broke off the engagement. She’d liked seeing how happy Athanasius had been with her, and he fell apart when his fiancé left him. It took him a long time to get over it, and Ianira was ashamed to say that she had no part in his healing process. She didn’t know what to do or how to go about helping him. Usually when she tried comforting someone, she accidentally made it worse, and she didn’t want to hurt her uncle, especially since he was always so kind to her. She now regards that decision as cowardly and is too ashamed and upset with herself to be around him. Now she just avoids him when she can do so without being rude or impolite.
Around this time was when Ianira and Velika cemented their friendship. They’d been close before, but they hadn’t built up enough trust yet. Ianira was a mess, blaming herself for Athanasius’s broken engagement as she’d hated that the woman to be a part of her family even though it brought her uncle joy. Velika, sensing her sister’s misery and distress, reached out to her, and Ianira, not in a position to reject the offer, held her sister’s hand and trusted her for the first time. It took some work, but Velika was patient with her older sister. And eventually, they became inseparable. They studied together for academic exams, talked about anything on their minds, and relaxed. It was the only time Ianira got a break from her mother’s strict routines. Even though Velika was younger than Ianira, she still saw herself as the mother hen of all the siblings, including Ianira, but Ianira was fine with that. She knew she wasn’t suited for the role anyway.
Her other good friendship was with a friend of her sister Isolde’s. Nikolae Nightwind, a smuggler and con artist, captured her mind and, then, her heart. They both had an interest in obscure lore and ancient history, and they could have spent hours debating the subjects if Ianira had the time. Nikolae started bringing her old books on other legends and archaic history, though the way he obtained such texts was just about always against the law, but most of what he did was illegal already. At some point during this time, Ianira fell for him, but she never told anyone, not even Velika. In fact, Velika had no idea that she knew Nikolae in the first place, and she didn’t know about Ianira’s obsession with ancient lore and history either. They would stay up discussing the origins of certain fae or the complexities between the various courts, and both would swear never to tell anyone what they studied. Ianira never told him how she felt. She didn’t want to ruin their friendship, and she knew she wasn’t – and never would be – ready for any kind of romantic relationship. She was too much of a mess, and the whole thing would end in heartbreak. Plus, if the relationship went sour as it likely would, where else would she get these texts out of her mother’s sight?
Then the treaty was signed, and the war ended. She was rather relieved that the fighting and bloodshed had finally ceased, even if it only ended up being for a short while. She had little faith that the treaty would actually work and thought her suspicions proved right when Zephyr was cursed only for the king to make Mihail the crown heir instead. Once it started to look like the treaty really would hold, her mother informed her that she was going to endeavor to bring about an engagement between her and a Seelie prince. Ianira was too scared to say no, but she knew her life and any semblance of hope she had of having the life she wanted was over.
Currently, she’s maintaining her rigorous studies with Velika and Eirlys, still has a small crush on Nikolae, and stays up burning the midnight oil as she pores over the tomes he brings her, trying to do anything to take her mind off her impending doom.

Important Miscellaneous Information: Her sister Velika is her best friend and knows more about her than anyone else.
She’s probably read more books than people twice her age and has a near photographic memory. She is terrible at remembering people’s faces but never forgets a name. She just can’t always match the right name to the proper face.
Because her senses are unusually heightened, she is easily overstimulated and tires quickly after being around crowds or noisy places or people.
She doesn’t ever really get angry; she usually just descends into a period of depression and self-hatred and tends to blame herself for things she really had little to nothing to do with.
Her Aunt Kolfinna’s obvious fondness for her perplexes her, but she would never even think of complaining. She simply doesn’t understand why her aunt would show her more affection than her own mother.

Thoughts on the Treaty:

¨I do hope this treaty bodes well for the land. I would love to wander about the forests again and not have to worry about political borders.¨

Power(s):
She can commune with wildlife and sense the life force of those around her.

On top of that, she can detect whether the aura of somebody is malicious or intends to do something malicious.

As far as magic goes, she wields earth, wind, and water magic. Though her most powerful magic, though sealed away so she doesn't accidentally use it are light magic, time magic, spatial magic, and last but not least, plant magic. These four types were deemed forbidden to practice in her early years, so she seldom uses them as to not invoke the fear of the people she looks after and to not put a target on her back. These forms of magic are incredibly unpredictable, but she has mastered them, but she absolutely refuses to teach them to anybody outside her circle of trust for obvious reasons.

Biography:

She used to live in a small village outside Graceling Castle. On one fateful night known to her as: ¨The red night¨ her village was beseiged by wild fae and a few necromancers in the mix. Whomever they killed, was added to the ranks of the undead. Out of all the fae in the village, she was the sole survivor and was found by lady Ellowyn. Since then she has been serving her will, no matter what that may entail.

Important Miscellaneous Information:

Her weapons of choice are either a greatsword, a longsword and shield, or flail and shield.

She wears Sterling white plate armor with splatters of red all over the armor, except on her left pauldron, bears a symbol representing a cherry blossom.

When she isn´t in her armor, she wears a blazing red tunic with black pants with brown knee-high greaves.

For formal events she wears a midnight blue gown.

She has a few pets:

1.) A Griffin named Angel
2.) A Dire wolf named Zeus
3.)An earth golem named Eon
3.)Lastly, a wind leviathan named Luna

Title: Lady
Apparent Age: 15
Actual Age: 92
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Heterosexual

Appearance: (view spoiler)

Fae Type: Elf
Court: Unseelie
Thoughts on the Treaty: “This treaty is finally happening! I think it is the best thing for everyone, but I hope that Eilidh is in love with Mihail too. I know I’d hate to have to marry someone I didn’t love already.”

Powers: Ennata has heightened senses of sight, hearing, and smell, but these are very weak compared to her other family members. However, she does have perfect night vision. Ennata has slight elemental control of water and darkness, the latter being the strongest one out of all her abilities. She possesses some powers of suggestion as well, though she is quite gullible and has no shield against others’ magic and persuasion.

Biography: Ennata was born to Asphodel and Ozul Moonshiver, several years after her elder sister Eirlys. She mainly spent her early years with a nurse since her mother, as Lady Moonshiver, was often too busy. As a young girl, Ennata never thought much about it. She easily entertained herself, and her nurse simply acted as a stand-in for whenever her mother couldn’t be there. She also loved playing with Eirlys, too. Ennata toddled after her constantly even if she wasn’t wanted, as well as her cousins. She thrived whenever she surrounded herself with people, and cried when left alone.
Eventually, as she grew older, the nurse was dismissed. At first, Ennata felt completely neglected. Her mother only disappeared more and more from her life, and the figure that she needed never seemed to be there. To get more attention, Ennata turned into a bit of a brat, though after people strayed farther from her, she realized that perhaps it wasn’t the best strategy. She learned to live with it overtime, but she also largely refined her tactics for receiving attention. Her father seemed more present than her mom though, and Ennata played on the guilt he held for Asphodel not being there for her. Ozul loved to spoil her to make up for Asphodel’s lack of support, so throughout her years she enjoyed spending time with him. She also went to him whenever she needed anything, or just someone to speak to. Ennata perhaps spent more time with him than Eirlys did, though one could argue that Eirlys didn’t necessarily seek or require a relationship there.
Ennata also enjoyed parties. She developed a very large friend circle, and she thrived on the extravagant social events. She often attended with her cousins Catriona, Melantha, Badriyah, and Isolde. Ennata’s bubbly personality easily guided her to converse with whomever she pleased, and thus she’d at least spoken with most of the nobility her age in the Unseelie Court at some point.
Another pastime that shaped Ennata’s life was sculpting and pottery. Ennata could spend hours crafting things out of clay, with a companion or two nearby to hang out with while she did so. She created several figurines of various objects, and sometimes she even sculpted beautiful pots and cups. Ennata was very immersed in the arts from a young age, until she refined her interests down to molding clay.
Although her mind was distracted by her friends, father, and crafts, Ennata still didn’t understand her mother. She felt unloved by Asphodel, as if she was some sort of nuisance undeserving of her time. She used her father and friends to fill the gap, but she never could find a suitable replacement for her mother. Ennata only wanted Asphodel to squeeze aside time for her, but that hardly ever happened and she felt empty because of it.
Important Miscellaneous Information:
She is a popular socialite, and is usually surrounded by people. Ennata is also very bubbly and cheerful all the time.
She is the daughter of Asphodel, who is arguably the most important Moonshiver and plays a key role in the family.
Ennata is much clumsier than the other Moonshivers, and she sometimes resembles an awkward, waddling duckling. In comparison to her family, her powers are also weaker, especially her senses, probably affecting her lack of grace to some extent.

Thoughts on the Treaty: “The treaty is being formed with good intent. My hope is that it really will bring peace. I know it’d benefit all of us for the better, and my mother especially.”

Powers (if any): Eirlys has heightened senses of sight, hearing, smell, touch, temperature, proprioception, and taste. She can telepathically communicate with very familiar people, as well as sense the presence of others. Eirlys also is talented at manipulating shadows and darkness, and has some slight, weak control over fire.

Family:

Parents: Asphodel and Ozul Moonshiver
Siblings: Ennata Moonshiver
Aunts: Kolfinna, Belladonna, Kairos
Uncles: Wolfram (in law), Athansius, Lucien, Killian, Eoghan (in law), Sylvan
Cousins: Ianira, Velika, Lycidas, Arawn, Catrina, Melchior, Melantha, Badriyah, Isolde

Biography: Eirlys was the first daughter born to Asphodel and Ozul Moonshiver. She was mainly raised by a nurse during her babyhood since her mother had business that often occupied most of her time, but Eirlys grew very close to some of her other family members instead, such as her Aunt Finn and her cousins.
After Eirlys learned to read and write, the nurse was dismissed. Eirlys was quite skilled at entertaining herself. Most of her time was spent reading, drawing, or sitting quietly around family members. She was careful not to disturb or distract her mother or create trouble, but otherwise she was mainly free to do as she pleased. Eventually, she developed an immense love for drawing. When she wasn’t reading or hanging out with friends, she’d be found with her drawing materials on a sofa or desk somewhere. Eirlys did enjoy being with friends and family, but decompressing afterwards was a must, and she usually did so through her sketches or books.
Eirlys, as she matured, also began her studies with cousins Ianira and Velika. The three girls were thrown together, and thus grew closer over time. Eirlys found the incessant quizzing and dull texts repetitive and boring, but she liked the time with Ianira and Velika. In addition, Eirlys, Ianira, and Ianira’s brother Lycidas were sort of “adopted” by their Aunt Finn. Kolfinna seemed to like her quieter nieces and nephews, and her aunt sort of stepped in for her absent mother. Her younger sister Ennata was much more social, so she never spent much time with her. Eirlys was social to some extent, but she had nowhere near the friend circle and acquaintances her sister did.
Her uncle Athanasius, after his broken engagement, acted much sadder and quieter. She never spent much time with him, but she often wished to comfort him somehow. She always seemed to make it worse though, so really the only sibling of her parents that Eirlys was close to was Kolfinna.
Over time, though Eirlys felt distanced from her mother, she realized that Asphodel really did love her and Ennata. Her love language was just different, and she also held an immense amount responsibility as Lady Moonshiver. So Eirlys simply recognized that their relationship was going to seem different, unlike her younger sister who was still slightly immature and never seemed to understand.
Important Miscellaneous Information:
She is the eldest daughter of Lady Asphodel.
Eirlys is very skilled at drawing and sketching, and she also has an immense vocabulary from all her heavy reading.
Eirlys is quite introverted, and thus much shyer then her sister even if she does enjoy being around people.

Thoughts on the Treaty: "We'll see........." Fenyrs care little for the treaty. All that matters to him is, will the peace last? He would love to see the treaty last, for he has no love of war, but he isn't sure the engagement will work.

Power(s): Fenyrs has minor control over ice and the cold. As a High Born Fae he has heightened strength, sight, and smell.

Personality: Fenyrs usually keeps to himself, always watching but never participating. He always likes to have the upper hand and if he doesn't his isn't likely to put himself at risk. He owes no one any allegiance except for his cousin Connall Tenebris, his liege lord. He talks in a soft cold voice that seems both cold and dangerous at the same time.

Biography: Fenyrs was born to Myrcella Nightflower and Venrys Frost. Fenyrs was raised far north of Tenebris Castle while his cousin Connall was sent there immediately fallowing his birth. For this Fenyrs has always been a little jealous, he wanted to be the favorite of the family but Connall was the one destined for greatness. He enlisted in the army shortly after his fiftieth birthday having grown tired of a nobles life, he quickly found that war was far from the games he had used to play as a child. He saw enemy and friend die alike, and he hated it. He hated that it was a blatant waste of life. That the King and his sons sat in their castle and watched. They let their soldiers lay down their lives in a war that had started because of some insult one side couldn't bear. When Connall joined the war bringing with him the full might of the Frost family, Fenyrs joined him. He rose quickly in the ranks of his cousins small army. He served as Connall right hand man during the war, carrying out his orders to the letter. While is cousin quickly became known as the Lion of the North, Fenyrs became known as the Lions Shadow. He earned the name after someone joked that he followed Connall around like a "Shadow". After the war ended Fenyrs continued to serve his cousin as the captain of his guard.

Important Miscellaneous Information: Fenyrs is scarred by his war years and the horrors that came with it. It's a touchy subject for him and it isn't wise to mention it to him. He wears usually all grays, silvers, blues, and blacks.

Crabby Constance (crabbyconstance) | 128 comments Name: Beowulf Elden Melchizedek Lowell Halloran
Title: Prince
Apparent Age: 17
Actual Age: 120
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Heterosexual

Appearance: (view spoiler)

Fae Type: Halfling (Merman/Each Uisge)
Court: Undersea
Thoughts on the Treaty: “I’m quite indifferent to what the elves do, as long as they leave me and my family out of it.”

Powers (if any): Wulf can shapeshift into a human, merman, water bird, and a dark black horse with a tangled mane and tail. He also has heightened sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch, especially underwater. He can manipulate water, echolocate, and he is one of the bests at communicating and bonding with sea creatures. Most of Wulf’s powers actually stem from his Merfolk blood, rather than his Each Uisge heritage. As such, he can create hurricanes when he’s in the ocean, breathe underwater, travel swiftly through it, and most of his powers are heightened in water. However, several of those abilities are quite weak - except for his communication with animals and speed as a merman. His strongest one is illusion magic, but not without some painstaking studying and lots of trial and error. Because he draws so much energy from the water, he’s also learned that it heals ailments or illnesses, replenishes his sleep, and helps him practice his magic. He can only do some certain abilities in the water too, such as water manipulation, storms, and improved senses. Over time, he discovered how to transfer the healing powers he draws from it to others when they’re in the water with him, but this is currently his most experimental power. Wulfie’s most developed talent though is his illusions and envious bond with sea animals. He heals them, rescues them, and in return he always finds a companion in the ocean. In fact, most of his time is spent in his merman form. He has mastered tricking people with his visions, and he usually can persuade others into sharing secrets or aiding him through these illusions. Wulfie has incredible speed and strength as a merman, assisted by rapid impulses and far-reaching senses. Otherwise, he really doesn’t care about the other powers that his father would rather him develop.

Family:

Parents: Chernomor and Morwenna Halloran
Siblings: Sereia

Biography: Beowulf was born in the midst of several brothers and sisters, his favorite being the eldest, Sera. His parents rarely paid him any attention, but Wulfie was content to hide in the shadows. In fact, he rather wished to be left alone. He hardly connected with anyone, except for Sera. Even then, she was much more competitive and wild than he, and he felt alienated and misunderstood. So, most of Wulf’s time was spent by himself in a library, or with his closest companions: a pod of dolphins he’d befriended and cared for since his early childhood.
Wulfie’s relationship with his father was very strained. He cared not for Chernomor’s irresponsible lifestyle, and Chernomor was disgusted by Wulf’s lack of ambition for magic. Beowulf was easily his least favorite child, which was ironic because he was closest to Chernomor’s favorite daughter. However, Wulf simply felt that his father misunderstood him. It wasn’t that he didn’t care about magic, rather that he didn’t care for his father’s training. Chernomor never recognized any of Wulfie’s accomplishments, instead criticizing him constantly and always pushing for more. Over time, Wulf grew beat down by this, and he couldn’t stand the loathing and insecurity he felt when around his father. Wulfie was quite powerful - certainly not as potent as Chernomor or Sereia - but he practiced his magic frequently and built up strength without his father knowing. Because he hated the competition, he focused on the specialties that they didn’t pay attention to or possess. And when he realized that his father based his love off of accomplishments, Wulf purposely failed at absolutely everything. If he had no apparent strength whatsoever, his father would quickly give up and the court would determine that he was of no worth. Perhaps Sera was the only one who knew of his actual abilities, but if she did she never mentioned anything. Once everyone left him alone - except his favorite sister - he returned to swimming with his dolphins, reading for hours in the library, practicing his magic, and nosing himself into diplomatic secrets since everyone thought that he was stupid based on his father’s outright display of disgust for him. Wulfie simply had the satisfaction of doing whatever he pleased, whenever he wished to. He could sneak off for hours and nobody would care. Eventually, through his intense studies of magic, faeries, sea creatures, and psychology, Wulfie surpassed most of his siblings in strength, all except Sereia. And while he may not have been the fastest racer, he certainly was the fastest swimmer, a proficiency he developed from his constant adventures with the dolphins. Over time, he might have been recognized as one of the most powerful in the Undersea Court had he not pretended to be stupid and weak around everyone other than Sera. He had plenty of intelligence up in his brain, too, and he often offered his wealth of diplomatic knowledge to Sereia if she ever needed it. However, he left it up to her to share it with their mother if she pleased. Morwenna, not unlike his father, was disappointed in his capabilities, even though he really didn’t care about proving her expectations wrong. They’d never been particularly close, so she fell in line with the rest of them.
However, Wulf had his share of faults, too. He constantly shoved everyone away, even Sera. He protected himself through distancing anyone he felt too close to, and making everyone’s judgment of him really horrible to avoid dealing with them. He claimed that it was solely for the purpose of being the undercover sibling once Sera was on the throne, but it damaged the relationships that he’d already built. Wulf also was given a free pass for his lack of clear communication, but at least his loyalty to his sister repaired their friendship on multiple occasions. Wulfie alienated himself to escape the disappointment of being misunderstood, throwing himself into his studies to quietly prove everyone wrong about him and creating a sense of satisfaction with his self-worth.
While Beowulf spent most of his time under the sea, he was still quite protective of his sister. She and Chernomor often journeyed off despite the fact that both had very important roles in the court. On one occasion, when they didn’t return as expected, Wulf searched for her, finding Sera by the ocean, his father’s dead body not far from her. He transported her home and stayed by her side till she awoke. The following months, Sera drowned in her grief. Wulf did feel sorry, regretting not trying harder in his relationship with his father. However, Beowulf had learned to trust his instincts, so after a few months he decided to move on. Most of his time was actually used caring for and doting on his sister. He could see how depressed she grew after the occurrence. Wulfie hated to watch her suffer, so he took it upon himself to help her recover. He did everything she was too tired or sad to do, forced her out of her isolation - whether gently or irritatingly - and never strayed far from her side. Eventually, she seemed to recover, and thus he returned to his quiet, distant self. Once his life wasn’t completely devoted to maintaining hers, Wulf grieved in his own way: by spending sometimes days in the ocean with the sea creatures, whom he shared an incredible bond with.
Important Miscellaneous Information:
He is on the younger, middle-ish side of the family.
He is Sera’s favorite sibling, and Chernomor’s least favorite son.
Beowulf is a master of illusion and communication with sea creatures.
He’s very close with a pod of dolphins, whom he’s named, can tell apart, healed them, and helped them thrive.
Pretty much everyone belittles him, thinks he’s stupid and weak, and is usually either condescending or bossy to him.

Evelin ☪️ Queen of Witches (evelinwitchleader)

Fenrys Tenebris • Prince of Tenebris • Unseelie Kings Nephew

Vanyar & Nature Fae • Unseelie Court

Appears to be 23 • is actually 130

Bisexual Male • Single

Face Claim is Otto Seppäläinen

Thoughts of Treaty •
When it comes to the treaty, Fenry has no idea of what to think. He knows it is a great opportunity for the Unseelie court to gain power over the Seelie court- but he also knows that in turn, the Seelie court gets the same amount of power over them. He also considers the fact that because of this supposed treaty, he and his siblings could no longer go around and "punish" those who wrong the Unseelie court. So really... he doesn't really see a point of it, ir a gain that justifies the means.

Powers •

Shape Shifting This particular gift was something he inherited from his mother- whose name is still very much unknown to him. Although Fenry's able to change his appearance, he rarely does it. When he does, however, it's usually something minor- like a minor change of his eye or hair color.
When it comes to body shifting, he is only able to turn into one animal- a falcon. He only ever shifts into one when it is absolutely necessary, because the constant body shifting is incredibly uncomfortable to him, no matter how many times he does it.

Earth Power: Because of his Nature Fae ancestry, Fenrys is able to manipulate the growth and movement of plants. He can either grow out plants that have already been planted, or make some out of his own blood... although depending on how many he grows, the slower the process is. This power is incredibly draining to him, which is why he can only do certain amounts at a time- or, well, he'd risk tapping out and being unconscious for a few days.

Healing: Fenrys is able to heal almost immediately after being injured- mainly because of his fathers side of the family. The only things that can slow his process to an almost human speed are Iron, which is rather unfortunate because then he'd be "unstoppable", and huge injuries. He can even put his limbs back together moving them close to each other and holding them for a long while.

Unnatural Speed and Strength: This power is practically a given, since most fae are faster and stronger than the average human. Its also incredibly helpful in a war- although, unfortunately, it doesn't make much of a difference when you're battling others with inhuman strength.

Biogeography • Fenrys and his siblings had always stuck out in their court- for various reasons. One of those reasons is because they were all birthed by different mothers, who varied in shapes and fae species, but raised by their father- a very arrogant, freaky and insufferable man. Their father either forced their mothers into... conceiving his children, or promised them things that he would not keep in the end, usually resulting in their immediate deaths after giving birth. Fenrys wouldn't be surprised if he did have more brothers and sisters out in the cruel, wicked world, because his father is a whore. Hopefully none that would attempt to take his very much deserved title.
Another thing that made the Tenebris siblings stick out was how they are all a distinct version of beautiful. Fenrys himself has his fathers appearance- silver hair, a strong, athletic build, and the same pale blue eyes that he and his siblings shared. Because he is usually seen wearing some time of flowery object- a crown of roses and flowers or a simple pin in the shape of one, people generally mistake him as the kindest one of his siblings, who are usually broody and dark. In reality, he is just as cruel and wicked as they are- only he finds that a good and kind looking appearance usually fools more people. As for the flowers and roses... well, its his only way of somewhat honoring the woman who birthed him- no matter how much of a fool she was for doing it without knowing the terms and conditions.
Even if Fenrys was raised with his siblings, he is not a fool and knows his trust for them could only be so much. He knows that they would have his back in war- unless, of course, it served their better interests for him to be dead. He also knows that they know the feeling is mutual- because they all know where they stand when it comes to it, and that they work better together anyways.

Full Name: Aurinda Mirella Flavia Catalina Larkspur

Apparent Age: Sixteen
Actual Age: One Hundred and Six

Title: Lady

Born Gender: Female
Gender Identification: Female
Sexuality: Heterosexual

Appearance: Aurinda is an exquisite beauty, as all Larkspurs are. They are renowned for their beauteous appearance, which is perhaps why many flock to and adore them, while others loathe them with a burning passion.
Unbound, which it often is not, her hair falls a mere inch or two past her hips like a waterfall of spun gold. For the past five thousand years, every descendant of Flavius Larkspur has possessed the shimmering gilt locks that mark them as his descendant. Aurinda is no exception. Though they flow freely when she is abed, typically they are pinned into an elaborately braided style and if they are not then certainly adorned with a circlet of coronet.
Her eyes are the colour of honey. Even when iced over with rage, warmth is still trapped within them, begging to escape the cold. The colour of her eyes truly say it all -- though it is slowly freezing, Aurinda's heart is as pure and loving as they come. Some say that the eyes are the windows to the soul, and in many cases they are, but over the years Aurinda has had to learn to school her expressions into those others wish to see. Even when burning with anger, she can appear happy and content. It is a skill she has learned and studied dilligently, but not one she will brag about. She will allow her true feelings to show on her face only when her true feelings are what others wish them to be, or when she is in the company of a person she knows she can trust.
She stands at exactly four feet and three inches. Her hands and feet are tiny and delicate. Her skin is the colour of an untarnished snowflake, her lips the shade of summer blooms. Her face is oval with symmetrical features. Her teeth are sharp, her ears pointed. Her nails are longer than those of the mortals, with curved edges. They rarely snap, and if they do, they grow back within the hour. Her wardrobe is filled with beautiful gowns provided by her aunt, Queen Arwen. Most of them are in pale colours, or in white and gold, the Larkspur colours.

Personality: Much like an onion, Aurinda has many layers. Raised in Graceling Castle with the best of everything, she may come off as spoiled and materialistic. A favourite of the court for her charm, grace, imaginitive stories and mastery of etiquette, she has what has is now known as 'The Larkspur Gift,' a natural charm that shines through like the sun. However, she has, since her rescue, been haunted by memories of Aemon's Last Stand. She finds it difficult to trust anyone who is not a family member, of a member of her tight-knit circle of friends, though nobody would know that because of how friendly she is. She suffers from terrible nightmares about that night.

Fae Type: Halfling (Elf/Siren)
Court: Seelie

Thoughts on the Treaty: "I despise this treaty! It has robbed me of my freedom and my right to hate the sworn enemy of my kin. I trusted the Gracelings and they have betrayed me! Should war come, I would not be against it.
Ultimately, she has the same goal as the rest of her family: for the larks to destroy their foes, break out of their cages and fly again. When that day comes, she is confident that she will be able to join them. At present, she is firmly on team Larkspur and is confident that nothing will change her mind.
Having learned that she is now betrothed to a Veora, she has decided to use her fury to her advantage. She has decided that she will play the role of the loving, obedient wife. But she will learn his weaknesses, she will learn his secrets, and then her family will bring his down.

Power(s): As well as having the power to fly, as all winged creatures do, Aurinda has the power to levitate. She is able to control the elements of earth and air very well, and fire and water to a lesser extent. She is able to move things with her mind, bend objects with her mind, walk into others' dreams, astral project and communicate with others who have the power of telepathy using this power. She is able to turn into a lark, and is able to communicate with animals. She also has mild sway over nature, a power which can be developed with practice.
Her wings are retractable and resemble those of a dragonfly. They are lilac in colour and gossamer in texture.
As she is half-siren, she has the gift of charm and persuasion, but it is weaker than that of a full blooded siren. For instance, when she sings, her voice is so lovely that it has the power to silence even the most rowdy crowd, stir feeling in even the coldest heart, but she could only compel an already depressed person to jump from a cliff. She can only compel those who secretly wish to do the thing she suggests they do to do so. For instance, if a person secretly wishes to kiss another, and she suggests, either by song or speech, that they do so, they will. If the person has no interest, or even only a mild curiosity about doing so, then her persuasion will fail.

Biography: Aurinda was raised in the paradisical castle of Aurum, one of the largest on the Seelie territory and certainly one of the most beautiful. Among the others living there were her mother, Alayna, her father Jasper and her four siblings, of which she was the youngest. Only one thing marred her idyllic childhood, her family's persistent, frightening feud with the Veoras, a family of the Unseelie court she had been raised to despise.
The entire family gathered at the Castle to congratulate the eldest Larkspur child, Orabella, on her betrothal. A great dinner was being held. Aurinda was only six at the time. But as the third course was served, armoured men came flooding into the grand hall. Aurinda dove under the table per her mother's instructions, helpless to watch as her father was cut down, as her sister's betrothed was shot through the heart, as her favourite cousin, her best friend, Alondra, was beheaded with an iron blade. The next thing she knew, the room was filled with smoke. She would later find out that her mother had set the room ablaze so that, in their distraction, the opposite side would not see them escaping through the secret tunnel, nor would they see a slave lift Aurinda from under the table and carry her through another, out into the dark night, and to the safety of Graceling Castle.
This is where she was raised, learning the fineries of the court, protected from the Veoras under the guardianship of the seelie king and queen, while the slave who saved her -- Moreia -- secretly slipped her letters from her surviving family members, who had fled to a secret location but were planning their revenge. She burned each letter after receiving it, determined not to give anything away.
When Aemon Veora died, she was overjoyed. But then the news came from Queen Arwen herself that she was to be betrothed to his son. At first, she felt betrayed, used, dishonoured. For the first time, she risked sending a message through Moreia to her mother. Fortunately, it was not intercepted. Her mother instructed her to marry him, but to remember always that he is their enemy, and to use their marriage to help their family's cause. Now is the time they have waited for. Now, the larks will fly again.

Important Miscellaneous Information: Aurinda can play almost any instrument you play before her. She is a keen musician and a talented soprano. She loves needleworks also. But as well as that, she loves flying, horse-riding and archery. When she was younger, she dreamed of having a husband who loved her just as much as her father loved her mother. Then her father was murdered. Now she dreams of avenging him. Her favourite colours are white and gold, as these are her house colours. She loves sweet treats and rarely ever refuses a cup of tea.

the_rabid_snail | 303 comments Aeryn Veora - Part One

Full Name: Aeryn Chalmar Gunnolf Adonis Veora
Apparent Age: 17
Actual Age: 124
Title: Lord
Gender: M
Sexuality: Heterosexual

Appearance: Aeryn mostly inherited his father’s looks and very few of his mother’s. His thick, jet black locks brush the nape of his neck and droop just a bit over his forehead and right above his eyes. His irises are dark, rich hues of brown with ebony shadows lurking near the irises, giving his eyes the appearance of shadows pervading them from within. His strong build and muscled frame is another trait he received from his father. Except for his eldest brother, he is the tallest of all his siblings, standing at roughly five feet and ten inches with a significant and imposing frame. Even at a distance, it is obvious that he has defined arm, back, shoulder, and abdominal muscles. Less noticeable except from a closer proximity are his chest, thigh, and calf muscles. One thing he did inherit from his mother was his extremely pale skin tone, which matches that of his younger sister’s. His facial features are powerful, broad, and stern, like the rest of him. He has prominent cheekbones, a sharp chin, broad forehead, pale and thin lips, and pointed, elfin ears.
Typically, Aeryn wears his silver and obsidian armor displaying the family crest and his broadsword sheathed at his side along with boots and gloves. Now that the war is over, he’s reluctantly lost the armor and taken up clothing that is more maneuverable and comfortable than regal and befitting for someone of his status. Mostly he wears black and gray leather clothing, ebony boots, and dark, floor-length capes (for more formal occasions). He truly has embraced the ‘Dark Lord’ legacy his father left behind, at least in appearance.

Fae Type: Halfling (half elf and half fylgja)
Court: Unseelie
Thoughts on the Treaty: “I am all too happy to quit this war, even though it is strange not to wear my armor nearly at all times. I am tired of it, and I am not very well cut-out for it. However, with this engagement, I would gladly take up my broadsword once again and commit myself to a lifetime of war if it meant I would not be required to marry my sworn enemy.”

Personality: Aeryn conducts himself with all the dignity and magnificence expected of someone with his title. He is well-mannered, polite, charming, and distinguished at all public occasions, but being naturally introverted, he has gained a reputation for disappearing from social events as early as possible without being rude. Being out at parties and events is very tiring for him after a while, and he gets more impatient, irritable, and blunt the more he is forced to socialize once he’s hit his limit. In the privacy of his own home, he is mainly monosyllabic or completely silent altogether, preferring to tend to the business of his estate or settle down to read a book, usually nonfiction. He finds fictional stories frivolous wastes of time. His sister, Aedelheide, is one of the only ones who can tease more than a few, short sentences out of him when he’s in full-on introvert mode.
Aeryn puts his duty to his family and court above all else. He will do whatever it takes to protect them, especially Aedelheide, at the expense of anything else, including himself. Bloodshed for the sake of bloodshed just isn’t his thing, so he only fights for good reason. Unfortunately, that isn’t the perception most people have. The majority of people see him as being just like his father: cold, uncaring, and bloodthirsty. It doesn’t help that he looks the most like his father out of all his siblings and appears serious and stern much of the time in public. It also doesn’t help that he served in the war and had been known to cause as much destruction as possible. Mostly it had been because of a desire to protect his court and family, but it was hardly perceived that way.
He despises being compared to his father and will lash out in anger at the nearest object but never a person. While he will hurt other people if he has to in order to protect those he loves or feels obligated to defend, he never wants to hurt an innocent person for something as trivial as a comparison he knows to be false. However, if the comparison is made out of spite and by someone who is deserving of a good punch to the face, he has no issue knocking out a couple teeth.
Aeryn has a fiery temper and reacts strongly to any slights made against him or his family, but he becomes more upset if someone is insulting a member of his family than he would if someone was insulting him personally. He also becomes very angry if anyone close to him is hurt or killed, and when that happens, all rational thought abandons him. In that moment, he knows only a burning rage and will stop at nothing to right whatever wrong has been done against his family. Only his mother and Aedelheide and Aethelwulf, two of his siblings, have ever been successful at keeping him from doing something rash and stupid when he’s in this state.
There is a gentle side to Aeryn. He can be incredibly kind and generous to those he cares for. Out of everyone in his family, he gives the most thoughtful gifts for Yuletide and birthdays and other special occasions. There is certainly a frugal side to him, but money is no object come Yuletide. Since he is a saver rather than a spender, he has more than enough to purchase nice presents for his family and anyone he cares to get a gift for. Still, he never just buys people presents. There is always a personal touch to them. Sometimes he makes homemade gifts, and other times he engraves purchased gifts or writes a sweet note to go with them.

Power(s): Aeryn has enhanced senses of sight, hearing, smell, taste, and balance, and he can fly thanks to his wings. He has the ability to shift into a wolf and has power of darkness, light, air, earth, and water. He can create visual, auditory, gustatory, tactile, and olfactory illusions and moderate healing powers. In addition, he can move things with his mind, teleport, communicate telepathically with others who share the same power, and shield his mind from most prying eyes. Most of his abilities were inherited from his father. The only abilities he received from his mother are shifting into his totem animal (a wolf), flight, healing, and air and light manipulation. His strongest abilities are his illusions, telekinesis, teleportation, and shapeshifting.

Family:

Parents: Aemon (deceased) and Audra (deceased)
Siblings: Aethemar, Aethelwulf, Aengelia (deceased), Aesteria (deceased), Aendreas, Aedelheide, Aelwyn, and Aevryn (deceased)
Uncles: Aeric, Aenendon (deceased), and Aelfdane
Aunts: Aethalia (deceased) and Aeltheda (deceased)
Cousins: Aebelard, Aeronwen (deceased), Aesclepius (deceased), Aelesdair, Aelzina (deceased), Aerdell, Aenora

Biography: Aeryn was the third son born to Lord Aemon and Lady Audra Veora and would later be named his father’s heir. His father was an elf, but his mother was a fylgja. The fylgjar are guardian spirits that watch over individuals (usually mortals) and are typically seen in the form of animals or women. In some legends, a fylgja appeared as an animal that was seen when its charge was born, and in other stories a fylgja was seen as the totem animal of the individual it was protecting. They would also appear in the dreams of their charges and would sometimes offer advice or warnings about the future, but to see one while awake usually meant doom or death was coming. According to legend, if the fylgja appeared rotten, chewed up, or disgusting, then its charge will suffer a very violent or painful death. If it appears as a peaceful faerie, then its charge will have an easy and painless death. They have also been known to astral project when their charge assists them from time to time. Once their charge dies, they will accompany them to the afterlife and will leave once they have accepted their demise. The fylgja will then move on to guard a new charge.
Aeryn would never know what his mother saw in his father. Maybe Audra was Aemon’s fylgja, or perhaps his father was a different man when his mother married him. Either way, the man he knew was cold, uncaring, and strict. He couldn’t remember a time when his father wasn’t plotting some bloodshed or tragedy against the Larkspur family, who were cousins of the Seelie Court Queen Arwen, or training him and his siblings in the ways of combat and destruction.
Growing up, his father encouraged competition between the siblings. Aethemar, his eldest brother, particularly hated him. Aeryn was Aemon’s favorite, and everyone knew it. While Aethemar was just as strong as Aeryn, he was considerably less bright. Aeryn would outsmart him time and time again, but he very nearly died a few times at the hands of his brother when their father pitted them against each other in combat. His second oldest brother, Aethelwulf, was probably smarter than him but not as strong. When it came to games of chess or strategy, Aeryn lost to Aethelwulf slightly more than he won, but he was stronger in both physical strength and magical power.
The siblings after him were identical twin sisters, Aengelia and Aesteria. They were just as beautiful and ethereal as their names, and they took mostly after their mother, much to the disappointment of their father. They were proficient in healing, nature, shapeshifting, and earth magic, and made a reputation for themselves as being two of the most powerful healers of the Unseelie Court when they were older. Aeryn’s brother, Aendreas, was next in line. Aendreas was the jokester of the bunch, and while he never dared breath a word about it, Aeryn always hoped and prayed in secret that their father would never be able to beat the mischief and humor out of his brother. Since Aendreas hardly took anything seriously, Aemon was especially hard on him and did manage to toughen him up. Still, Aeryn would smile to himself whenever he saw the results of one of Aendreas’s subtle pranks.
His youngest sister, Aedelheide, came after Aendreas not long after. While Aengelia and Aesteria inherited the healing and nature part of their mother’s powers, Aedelheide inherited the protection and seeing aspects. She was the only sister who could see the future and astral project. Her twin sisters could dream walk, but she was a more powerful dream walker. Her totem animals were a bear, a lion, and a hawk. After Aeryn, she was their father’s second favorite.
The last two siblings were Aelwyn and Aevryn. Both of them tried immensely hard to please their father, but Audra doted on them more than she had her other children. Aeryn thought it was to make up for what her other children were turning into: monsters. It was true, though. Aside from the twins, Aeryn and his siblings were horrid and potent creatures.
As soon as his father felt they were prepared enough, he sent them to the war against the Seelie Court. Aethemar thrived in that environment, though he never rose to a terribly high rank. His short temper and sometimes irrational behavior simply made him too much of a risk. Aethelwulf, however, was a different story. He ended up being very successful, mainly as a strategist. Aeryn followed in their footsteps, combining their gifts of strength and intellect. He didn’t really like it, though. Conditions were rough, he was always tired, and he was responsible for the morale of other troops. War just smelled horrible: rotting corpses, blood, soldiers who hadn’t bathed in months, sweat and grime, and sometimes foul-smelling terrain. He always said he was never meant to be a soldier in someone else’s war or any war for that matter, but trying to tell Aemon something different than what his father had already decided was like knocking your head against a stone wall repeatedly: nothing good ever came of it, and you usually got hurt.

Biography cont'd: Aengelia and Aesteria were never shipped off to war. Instead, they had orders to help heal the wounded and sick soldiers who made it home. Aendreas was held back for a while, but he too ended up in the war. Somehow, the blasted jokester survived, but how he did is anyone’s guess. Aethemar called it sheer, blind, dumbluck.
Aedelheide went to war at the same time Aeryn did, even though she was younger than both him and Aendreas. Aeryn hardly ever saw her, but he knew that she and their father were together wherever they were. Aelwyn followed Aendreas eventually and returned much more hardened than the soft, spoiled boy Aeryn had grown up with. Aevryn was kept home by Audra and never saw the nightmarish aspects of war.
While Aeryn was in the trenches, he received regular news from his father about the war against the Seelie Court and about the war against the Larkspur family. Aemon certainly hated the Seelie Court with a burning passion, but he hated the Larkspurs most of all. Aeryn couldn’t remember how the feud had started, and to be honest, he didn’t know if his father did either. Whatever happened, it had set Aemon on a course that he had never come back from. He had heard stories of the massacre at Orabella Larkspur’s betrothal dinner, but he had still been young at the time and hadn’t been there. The feud didn’t hold much meaning for him until certain events unfolded while he was at war.
The first thing that happened was the demise of his twin sisters. Apparently, Aesteria had convinced Aengelia to cross over into neutral territory with her where Aemon had planned an attack against some of the Larkspur family members at the same time. Unknowingly, they were close by when it happened, and surviving members of the Larkspur family grabbed both of them, recognizing them as Aemon’s daughters. It wasn’t hard to figure out. Their reputations as exceedingly powerful healers made them easily recognizable. The two families were now at a stalemate. Aemon could order his daughters to heal the men he wounded and then offer himself to be killed in return for the ones he had already murdered. If they were in a good mood, perhaps they would let one or both of his daughters go. Before Aemon could even open his mouth, Aesteria volunteered both herself and Aengelia to heal the injured men. They went about their work quietly, under the close watch of the surviving Larkspurs. They had healed nearly all the wounded men when Aengelia, a more powerful healer than her twin sister, came across a man who was either a Larkspur or a guard of the Larkspur family. She didn’t know which he was, but she knew he was seconds from dying. It was obvious that she was probably going to die anyway, and if she was going to die now, then she wanted to die doing something good, something she loved. She healed the man, but she had to use her own life force to do so and laid there on the cobblestone, struggling to breathe. Aesteria tried to heal her, but one of the surviving Larkspurs sliced her stomach open and let her bleed out next to her twin sister on the cold ground. Aemon fled, barely escaping, and sent word of what had happened to Aeryn, Aedelheide, and their other siblings at war. Audra needed no message to know when any of her children had been slaughtered.
The feud between his family and the Larkspurs suddenly became much more real for Aeryn. His sisters were some of the only innocent people he knew, and they had died violent, painful deaths that they had not been deserving of. But worst of all was the fact that he knew his father would have sacrificed them in an instant if it meant he would live another day to see the extinction of the Larkspurs. Aemon had written a very distorted version of the truth in his message, but Aedelheide somehow knew the truth and had sent him a letter detailing what really happened in secret.
His Uncle Aenendon, and his Aunt Aethalia and Aunt Aeltheda were the next casualties of the feud. A few of their children, Aeronwen, Aesclepius, and Aelzina died trying to avenge them, though they took out a couple of the Larkspurs with them. This feud was getting bloodier and bloodier the longer it went on, and Aeryn prayed desperately for it to come to an end.
He was due to come home for a week before returning to war, and he was especially eager to see his mother and Aevryn and to take a bath and put on clean clothes. However, he was delayed on his way back by a severe blizzard and returned a day too late to save Audra and Aevryn from being murdered. Somehow the Larkspurs had found where his mother and youngest sibling had been hiding: a smaller castle owned by a distant cousin of Audra. He was ambushed in the courtyard by men who had lain in wait for him. They must have known he was coming back and had expected to find him there, but when they couldn’t find him, they had hidden and waited for him to make an appearance. There were not many of them that had stayed behind, but they put up a good fight. Still, Aeryn won, and he buried his mother and little brother on the hill the castle was situated on. He wrote to his father, Aedelheide and their other siblings, hoping the notes would not be intercepted. At least Aethelwulf received the message, because a week later, a messenger delivered a note to Aeryn from his older brother. Apparently Aemon had finally died and at the hands of a Larkspur, no less. Aeryn felt somewhat sad but also relieved. He dared to hope the feud would end, but he doubted it. If the Larkspurs hated them as much Aemon hated the Larkspurs, the feud probably wouldn’t stop until all members of one or both families were all dead.
When the treaty was signed and news reached the battlefront, Aeryn was the first one to be packed and ready to move out homewards. The only person who beat him home was Aendreas, who had apparently deserted the army just a couple of days before news of the treaty reached the area he was stationed in. Somehow, his younger brother had thought it would be funny to disappear for a while and then reappear with some ridiculous story to explain his absence.
The war had taken its toll on all of them, but Aeryn didn’t fully realize how much until Aedelheide arrived. He didn’t know what had happened to her in during the war, but she came back with one pale eye. Before she had had two, vibrant blue eyes that were so lovely they were the envy of all the Unseelie Court. Now one of them was a strange beige-yellow tint, and dark veins sprawled across her hardened face. He had disliked war before, but now he really detested it after seeing what it had done to his sister.
During a rather somber reunion with his surviving siblings at home, a messenger arrived with an invitation to Whitestone Castle. There was no explanation behind it, but he was intrigued and decided to go. Aedelheide insisted on going with him. He tried saying no, but war had changed her on the inside too. She was much more bossy and stern than he remembered, and he couldn’t dissuade her from staying behind.
He was even more surprised when Lady Ellowyn announced that he would be marrying Lady Aurinda Larkspur, a member of the family that had wrought only destruction, death, and pain on his own family. Luckily, Aedelheide was there with him, and he was glad she’d forced him to bring her along. She helped him keep from exploding with rage until they were back in Unseelie territory and away from prying eyes and eavesdropping ears.
It was clear he had no choice in the matter but to marry the girl. He had hoped never to take a wife or to have a family, but now all his carefully thought out plans were laid to waste. He had planned to live in Veora Castle with Aedelheide, who had also decided to remain celibate, and any other of his siblings who desired to stay. With the treaty, the feud obviously had to end, and he had rather liked the idea of living out the rest of his days in his home with only his remaining family and a few servants. He and his siblings had survived the war and could certainly defend themselves from any intruders. But none of that mattered now. He was to marry his sworn enemy and to live in enemy territory. After the wedding, he was going to send for Aedelheide to join them at the earliest opportunity.

- Zephyr is 185 years old
- He is not the eldest Tenebris child, he is the third youngest, there are 5 sisters older than him
- He was chosen as heir to the throne at the age of 100
- If Zephyr was reinstated he would be Crown Prince, not heir

Age info is at the bottom of his wanted ad / in Mimi's app, siblings and his age ranking among them is in the app, the wanted ad also says he was chosen as heir when he was of age (which is 100 for fae), and he's Crown Prince because he's male / a prince, Mihail is only Crown Heir because he's genderfluid
