Crow | 87 comments Full Name: Zephyr Varien Tenebris
Apparent Age: 24
Actual Age: 302
Title: Prince of The Unseelie, The Fallen Prince
Born Gender: Male
Gender Identification: Male
Sexuality: Heterosexual

Appearance:I painted this for @whimsifybox but couldn't share it for a long time 😁😁 I loved working on this piece and other two which I will upload…

Fae Type: Half Naga-Half Elf

Court: Unseelie
Thoughts on the Treaty: "War is never good, but making Mihail king is a mistake. He will bring about everything I worked so hard to stop, and destroy both of the Courts."

Power(s): Flight, Zephyr has retractable wings that can appear with a mere thought. Zephyr has a considerable amount of control over darkness. He can bend it to his will and shape it into what ever he desires. Having only the barest trace of naga blood in his veins gives Zephyr the ability to morph into a snake. As a High Born Fae Zephyr has boosted strength, speed, smell, and hearing.

Biography: Zephyr Varien Tenebris was chosen at age 100 to be his father's successor and rule the kingdom. He grew up very close to his cousin Connall Tenebris and considers him more of a brother than he does Mihail. As the war raged Zephyr was sent to the front lines to see the true meaning of war. He returned home completely shocked by what he'd seen, a distaste of war firmly set within him. Several years later, he learned that the war between the Seelie and Unseelie court was to end. He rejoiced to see his father had finally seen reason and ended the mindless slaughter of thousands of Seelie and Unseelie Fae. Most in his court considered him more seelie than unseelie in his ways, as he always made sure to tell a mortal when they had offended him rather than take immediate revenge, made sure his slaves were not overworked and never punished them for accidents or minor faults and was always kind to his friends, fair to his acquaintances and inferiors and he tried at the very least to be civil to those he did not like, though he found that he tended to get drawn into fights with his brother Mihail and then feel guilty about it afterwards. He just found the boy petty and, in his opinion, he was a disgrace to the royal family as he seemed to have no interest in bettering the family at all.
Zephyr was overjoyed when he was betrothed to Princess Eilidh, with whom he immediately fell in love. Their relationship grew strong as they got to know everything about each other and they were looking forward to ruling the kingdom as equals and making a difference to the peoples' lives. Then Goron, the envious goblin who had long ago cursed Eilidh's cousin Elysande, attempted to get his own daughter betrothed to Zephyr. When both Zephyr and King Faustino refused the offer, Goron cursed Zephyr, proclaiming that Zephyr would never sit on the throne with Eilidh. As the treaty made it clear that Eilidh being queen was a deal-breaker and that Zephyr could not simply marry another Graceling sister, Mihail was appointed Crown Heir instead of his brother.
Zephyr was devastated to lose the throne. More than that, he was devastated to lose the throne to Mihail. But worse than still was that he was losing the love of his life to Mihail. Or so he thought.
Yes, he is to lose the throne to Mihail, who has made it quite clear that he does not wish to be king. Mihail's lack of vision disgusts him. However, Eilidh and Mihail have made a deal. Mihail was once betrothed to, to a man named Sholto. The two have struck a bargain that Mihail may secretly court Sholto, and she may secretly court Zephyr.

Important Miscellaneous Information:He cannot show any affection towards Eilidh in public. They have to be very careful. But he still takes the opportunity to speak with her in group conversations, keeping his tone friendly and polite, but taking care to demonstrate his knowledge of the Seelie Court, and his knowledge of Eilidh (likes, dislikes, her family) as if to send a silent message that she could never truly belong to anyone else. Of course, he would never do anything so foolish as to show her anything other than courtly respect in public. Zephyr secretly wants vengeance on the goblin that ruined his life and will do almost anything to achieve that goal.
He believes Mihail is unfit for the throne and wishes to be reinstated as Crown Prince even though that means the end of the treaty. He thinks he can find a loophole in the curse and finally reclaim his birthright.(His loophole is that the goblin said he would die if he married Eilidh, so he thinks let's just not get married.) He's rather touchy about loosing the throne and will lash out if someone mentions it.
Though Zephyr doesn't really think it will come to it, he is willing to fight Mihail for the throne. He knows his cousin Connall would stand with him if he called on him, but is loathed to create more violence.

(I think I fixed every thing)

the_rabid_snail | 303 comments Aedelhaide Veora - Part One

Full Name: Aedelheide Cahira Heloise Toriana Veora
Nicknames: Aeda, Heidi, Hel, Tor, Tora, Lady Dis, Firebird
Apparent Age: 16
Actual Age: 115
Title: Lady
Gender: F
Sexuality: Heterosexual

Appearance: Aedelheide’s pale blonde locks of hair fall just below her shoulders and gleam like satin when she takes the time to brush them out. The ends of her straight hair curl very slightly inwards, and she normally wears it down and parted to one side or the other. At one time, her thick locks were much longer and reached her hips, but several decades ago she decided to slash off most of her lovely tresses with a knife and has never let them grow back since. Her left eye is a dark blue with tinges of violet around the edges of the iris, but her right eye is an especially pale yellow that almost looks closer to a beige color. Thin, gray veins extend upwards and downwards from her right eye, branching off into additional, smaller veins. Her skin is an unearthly alabaster, and her height is roughly 5’6, much shorter than that of her brothers. Her face is stern and serious, but when she genuinely smiles, it lights up. She has a small forehead, high, pronounced cheekbones, a sharp chin, angular face structure, full, pale lips, a petite nose, pointed, elfin ears and slightly arched eyebrows a bit darker than her light hair color. Just by looking at her, it is easy to tell that she is no dainty lady. She has a flat stomach but clearly defined abdominal muscles, and as a result, she doesn’t possess an incredibly tiny waist like many of the other court ladies. Her shoulders have a bit more muscle than any of the other ladies, and her back is exceptionally strong as well. She also has a moderately sized bosom and a gently curving figure, though it isn’t always apparent unless she wears something form-fitting enough. In addition, her calves are very well-muscled, but her feet and hands are still small in accordance with her height. Her hands and fingers are elegant with clean, short nails, though the skin is rough and calloused. The skin on her feet is much the same, and each of her toes is a tiny bit smaller than the last in a gently tapering line.
Aedelheide usually wears her hair down, in a high ponytail, or up in a French twist with minimal adornments. One of the only pieces of decoration she wears in her hair is a small, silver hair comb in the shape of feathery wings that she received from her mother. Concerning her wardrobe, she prefers functional clothing, mainly trousers and shirts. Her favorite colors are grays and blues, and many of her clothes are of those shades. Her preferred shoes are black boots with fur lining on the insides and silver buckles on the outsides, and the only jewelry she usually wears are stud earrings. For more formal occasions, she will wear simple, floor-length dresses, low heels, and minimal jewelry. During the war, her armor was silver with blue and gray accents and displayed the family crest in one corner. It is light and easy to maneuver in, and daggers and knives were sheathed at her side. Her twin swords were also held in sheaths, which were strapped to her back, and sometimes she would wear an ebony cape with sapphire blue trim.

(view spoiler)

Fae Type: Halfling (half elf and half fylgja)
Court: Unseelie
Thoughts on the Treaty: “Aeryn and I took vows of celibacy, and now this treaty has ruined that for my brother. I lost all my sisters, my baby brother, my mother, my aunts and uncle, my cousins, and my father at the hands of the Larkspurs, but I am forced to helplessly watch my brother marry one of them. For once in my life, I am afraid to look into the future.”

Power(s): Aedelheide has power over fire, darkness, air, and light but no such power over water or earth. She has heightened senses of sight, hearing, smell, taste, balance, and pain, and she has the power of flight like all winged creatures. Her most powerful abilities come from her mother, however. Besides the powers of flight, air, and light, she inherited the ability to shapeshift into a bear, lion, or hawk, and she can enter the dreams of people she is connected to by either blood or emotion. In addition, she receives visions of the past, present, and future, but particularly the present and future and especially concerning the deaths and demises of other people, though she can’t always control when the visions come and go and her mind can become lost in other planes if she stays in a vision for too long. With time, she has learned to shield her mind from prying eyes, but it takes her a great deal of concentration and energy to maintain mental barriers for much longer than a couple of hours at a time. Shielding her mental presence from others is easier for her to do. She also possesses minor healing and nature communication powers and can communicate telepathically with others who have the same ability.

Family:

Parents: Aemon (deceased) and Audra (deceased)
Siblings: Aethemar, Aethelwulf, Aeryn, Aengelia (deceased), Aesteria (deceased), Aendreas, Aelwyn, and Aevryn (deceased)
Uncles: Aeric, Aenendon (deceased), and Aelfdane
Aunts: Aethalia (deceased) and Aeltheda (deceased)
Cousins: Aebelard, Aeronwen (deceased), Aesclepius (deceased), Aelesdair, Aelzina (deceased), Aerdell, Aenora

Biography: Aedelheide was the seventh child and third daughter born to Lord Aemon and Lady Audra Veora. Her father was an elf, and her mother was a fylgja. The fylgjar (plural of fylgja) are guardian spirits that watch over individuals (usually mortals) and are typically seen in the form of animals or women. In some legends, a fylgja appeared as an animal that was seen when its charge was born, and in other stories a fylgja was seen as the totem animal of the individual it was protecting. In some ancient lore, if the fylgja appeared as a woman, it meant the spirit was guardian of an entire family or clan. They would also appear in the dreams of their charges and would sometimes offer advice or warnings about the future, but to see one while awake usually meant doom or death was coming. According to legend, if the fylgja appeared rotten, chewed up, or disgusting, then its charge will suffer a very violent or painful death. If it appears as a peaceful faerie, then its charge will have an easy and painless death. They have also been known to astral project when their charge assists them from time to time. Once their charge dies, they will accompany them to the afterlife and will leave once they have accepted their demise. The fylgja will then move on to guard a new charge. Often the new charge is a descendant of the former charge if any descendants exist.
To her father’s delight. Aedelheide was not much like her older, twin sisters. Aengelia and Aesteria were gentle and delicate creatures with sweet and loving temperaments, and they very obviously took mostly after their mother. Aedelheide was no such creature. She was determined to keep up with her older brothers and train alongside them. From the time she could walk and talk, she was following her brothers around and going on adventures with them around the castle and surrounding lands. She learned to climb trees, swim in lakes and rivers, spar with wooden swords, tumble down the hills, trudge up the mountainsides, sneak through the woods, and swing from vines over the woodland pond. To her family and those who knew her well, she was a tomboy. But like many girls, she liked to dress up in pretty clothing for public and social events. She also liked shopping, shoes, and arranging her hair in aesthetically pleasing ways. To the public and acquaintances, she was more of a traditional, feminine girl. This puzzled the few people who knew both sides of her, but she would just shrug and tell them that tomboys could look pretty too.
The visions started coming when she was very young. Sometimes they would appear in her dreams, and other times they would come while she was awake. At first, she didn’t know what they were. She thought they were only extraordinarily vivid dreams. Until they started coming true. Soon, she learned to pay attention to them, even though they could be cryptic at times. Sometimes, in her visions she saw only animals and no people. Eventually she learned that usually when she saw animals it was a person’s totem animal representing them, but the ability to discern a person’s totem animal was something she didn’t learn until much later. When she and her siblings were younger, Aengelia and Aesteria often had to help her figure out what her dreams and visions meant since they were older and more in tune with their mother’s powers than anyone else in the family. Aedelhaide would have gone to her mother, but there was an unspoken rule in the house that her father instituted against consulting or spending much time with Audra. Aengelia and Aesteria were the exception to the rule since their father cared little about what they did as long they didn’t cause trouble and stayed out of the way.
Once Aedelheide’s father found out about her visions, he wanted to know all about them every time she had one. She was expected to recount them in every exact detail and would be punished if she forgot anything. If she made a mistake in relaying her dreams and the future didn’t happen as she had predicted, she was punished for that too. She had always been a fast learner, but remembering things the way her father demanded was tricky. Fortunately, her older brother, Aethelwulf, was able to help her with some techniques to improve her memory. Once she’d adequately cemented them in her brain, she made fewer errors and didn’t receive as many punishments.
The older she got, the more she was able to compete with her older brothers. Her father pitted his children against each other in magic, combat, and intellect. Aedelheide almost never won in intellect against Aethelwulf, who was considerably smarter than everyone else, but she would occasionally have a chance if she’d happened to see the future of their games and could adjust accordingly. When it came to her other siblings, she nearly always beat Aendreas and usually won against Aethemar and her younger siblings in strategy. Against Aeryn, she won about half the time and lost the other half. When it came to physical strength, Aethemar always dominated the competition, but she did fairly well against some of her other siblings once she built up enough muscle. Aeryn was always stronger than her, so the only siblings she really had a chance of beating in that arena were Aengelia, Aesteria, and Aelwyn. Aengelia and Aesteria never participated, and Aelwyn was younger and easily beaten until he got bigger. She really should have had no chance at defeating Aendreas, but he never took anything seriously and didn’t even try most of the time. Consequently, she won against him more often than she should have.
Although she performed averagely in most disciplines, she was significantly stronger than nearly all her siblings when it came to magic. She was the only one who could see the present, past, and future, and she was the most powerful dream walker and fire manipulator. Even though she didn’t inherit many of her father’s abilities, the ones she had from both her mother and father were extraordinarily potent.
All her life, she had only ever heard Aemon talk of the war against the Seelie Court and the feud between the Veoras and the Larkspurs. In fact, she had heard little else ever come out of her father’s mouth. No matter what her family was doing, Aemon always found a way to bring the conversation back to war and death. So, it was no surprise when her elder siblings began going off to war.

the_rabid_snail | 303 comments Aedelheide Veora - Part Two

Biography cont'd: Apparently her father had served in the war in previous years but had taken some time off to train his own children to join him when he went back to fight again. Aedelheide was of little use just sitting at home and waiting for news of Aethemar and Aethelwulf, so it was a relief when she was finally shipped off with her older brother, Aeryn. They didn’t end up in the same place, but they were somewhat nearby each other. Unfortunately, Aemon stayed with Aedelheide, forcing her to focus her visions on the outcomes of certain battles. She also fought alongside the other soldiers when her father wasn’t pushing her to her mental breaking point.
Being in the midst of war somehow helped concentrate her dreams and visions on the battles and the demises of the other soldiers. Most nights she dreamed of death and torture, and so she tried her best to prevent it whenever possible. She made sure to shadow certain soldiers to try and save them from death and was often successful. Of course, she couldn’t save every fae, so she had to decide who to help and who to leave to fate. She took no pleasure in having to choose which soldiers she would do her best to help survive, but it was even worse to do nothing. Usually her decisions hinged on what she knew of the other soldiers and of what she had seen of their past. Sometimes, she thought she could see alternate paths a person could take if something interfered with their current destiny, but she had no idea if they were actually visions or just nice dreams. Either way, she did her best to help the ones with family to get back to. In her dreams, she liked to visit the pasts and presents of the soldiers with nice families. A loving family was something she had always lacked, and she enjoyed seeing what they were like even if it was only from a distance. After only being able to help a few at a time, she turned to dream-walking in order to warn the ones she thought she would be unable to help. After a time, the soldiers took to calling her Lady Dis (the singular form of Disir) when her predictions in their dreams continued to come true.
Like her brother Aeryn, the feud between their family and the Larkspurs made little sense to her. She didn’t know why their father was filled with so much rage or why the feud had started in the first place. All she knew was that it practically consumed Aemon’s every thought and that it was more important to him than anything, even his own family. This was all made clear to her when she saw the murders of her twin sisters in a vision while it was happening. Aesteria and Aengelia were caught in the middle of an ambush their father had planned out on the Larkspurs. The only chance they had at escaping with their lives was to heal the wounded, and so they did, right before Aemon could order them not to. Aedelheide could see the fury in his eyes as he watched them go about their work, and she knew he cared not for their lives. She could see his lips begin to move when the remaining Larkspurs offered him the choice of either letting his daughters heal the injured men or be killed along with the twins, and she knew the words he was about to utter were not going to be ones that commanded her sisters to comply with the Larkspurs. They were going to be ones that ensured their deaths. Luckily, Aesteria was wise enough to answer for herself and Aengelia before Aemon could, and the sisters silently acquiesced with the Larkspurs’ demands. Still, Aedelheide knew it was unlikely they would escape with their lives, and Aengelia realized it too. She gave her life healing a man who was being embraced by death, and when Aesteria attempted to help her, one of the Larkspurs slaughtered her where she stood. Both sisters died next to each other, and Aedelheide thought she saw Aesteria’s hand reach out to grasp Aengelia’s in their final moments and just barely brush against her twin sister’s fingers. Aedelheide could understand anyone wanting to murder Aemon. Simply and honestly, he was a horrid man who had inflicted a lot of pain and suffering on other people. Whether all his victims were entirely deserving of it or not, Aedelheide could not say for certain. But killing Aesteria and Aengelia like that? That was unforgivable. Her sisters had not been deserving of such a gruesome fate, even if Aemon was one of the worst beings in existence. No one should have to be punished for the deeds and crimes of their parents.
She soon received a brief message from her father. The letter was an account of what had happened, but it was far from accurate. Assuming the most probable thing, which was that Aemon had sent something similar or identical to her other siblings, she wrote her own letters in secret and had them discreetly delivered to Aethemar, Aethelwulf, Aeryn, Aendreas, and Aelwyn. She knew her mother would already know the truth of what happened. Audra might have even foreseen it. Aedelheide wasn’t sure.
Either way, the feud took on a new meaning for her. Before, she hadn’t had much of a definite opinion on the Larkspurs, but she certainly had one now. It had been hard to imagine anyone being crueler than Aemon, but she didn’t have to imagine now. The Larkspurs were monsters just like the Veoras were. She and Aeryn were under no delusions of the truth of their family and training. It didn’t help that war changed everyone involved in it, and she and her siblings were no exceptions. She didn’t have to see their presents and futures to know that. All she had to do was visit their dreams and watch what their subconscious concocted while they slept. Aeryn was like herself: he was under no illusions of the innocence of their family. He consistently dreamed of torture and monsters, but Aedelheide could tell that he always felt deserving of being tormented in his sleep. Aendreas’s dreams grew much darker. Once, she had liked to visit his dreams since they were usually lighthearted and fun. Now they were darker and much more serious. Even his practical jokes got significantly more morbid. Aelwyn toughened up. He used to be soft and spoiled, but the war had forced him to grow up and mature. Aethelwulf became considerably depressed. Typically his dreams were about his own shortcomings and perceived worthlessness. On the other hand, Aethemar got angrier and more vengeful, especially after the continued casualties of their family at the hands of the Larkspurs. He was even angrier at any message of Aeryn’s progress up the ranks. He had always been unreasonably jealous of his younger brother. Aedelheide changed too. She grew up and became more solemn and practical. Things she had once enjoyed like dressing up and attending social events seemed silly and stupid now. She would much rather become a hermit if she ever made it out of this war alive.
Meanwhile, her Uncle Aenendon, Aunt Aeltheda, and Aunt Aethalia were killed next in the Larkspur-Veora feud. She received word of it from her cousins, several of whom were murdered next. Aedelheide saw their plan to avenge their parents and how it ended in a vision ahead of time, but before she could get word to her cousins not to go through with it, it was too late. Aeronwen, Aesclepius, and Aelzina all died just as she had foreseen it. Her surviving cousins, Aebelard, Aelesdair, Aerdell, and Aenora returned her message with one of their own, informing her that her message had arrived moments too late. They were not aware that she already knew her warning had been in vain.
Not long after all this, Aemon unveiled a slightly scary-looking contraption he’d made. He had somehow gotten it enchanted to hold her in her visions until he wanted her to be released from them. Aedelheide did not want to cooperate, but she had no choice. Aemon was powerful enough to force her to comply if she refused, and it would be better just to do as she was told until she could figure something out. In order for it to work, she was restrained and strapped down to enchanted wood. The wood was cut into a long sheet and could stand either vertically or horizontally. More enchanted wood and some enchanted metals made up the restraints. Once it worked on her, Aemon used it as often as possible to help turn the tide of the war in favor of the Unseelie Court. It largely worked, and Aethelwulf and other strategists were able to alter their plans in order to account for the visions Aedelheide received of the outcomes of future battles. However, it came with a price.
Aemon kept her in her visions for longer and longer, and though Aedelheide could feel herself starting to slip away into other planes, he would not listen to her concerns. Unfortunately, Aemon usually listened only to himself and a few others, and Aedelheide was not one of those others. Eventually, disaster struck. She was in a vision and saw the fate of a battle happening only a few miles away, but she knew she would not be released in time to prevent the tragedy. She could feel herself slipping away, and before she knew it, she was no longer in her body. So, she did the only thing she knew to do. She went to the battle and wreaked as much havoc as possible, shifting between her totem animals. At one point she was a colossal bear with sharp teeth and slashing claws. In the next moment, she was a roaring lion, pouncing from enemy to enemy. But she spent the most time as a hawk, soaring and weaving through the Seelie soldiers as she burned them with fire and clawed them with her razor sharp talons. She became consumed by her fire magic, setting everything she touched alight with flames, and after the battle, became known as the Firebird.
Although she prevented a disastrous defeat for the Unseelie Court, she could not immediately return to her body. She wandered various, other planes for what seemed like an eternity before she was able to find her way back to her own plane of existence and her own body. When she finally returned, one of her eyes had changed color, and dark veins extended from it in all directions. It was ugly and would serve as a reminder of what she had been through. She wished never to experience being lost like that again; it had been terrifying.
In a dream, she saw the deaths of Audra, Aevryn, and Aeryn. She jolted upright and ran out of her small tent to find someone to send a message for her. The tragedy was still a while away yet, so she had time to prevent it. Fortunately, she knew faeries who could control the weather, and they caused a blizzard to delay Aeryn long enough to save him. Of course Aemon was informed of the impending attack, and Aedelheide sent instructions to the family guards to be on alert per her father instructions. Come to find out, he’d made sure the messages never reached the guards. Aedelheide was nothing short of furious when she felt the departure of Audra and Aevryn the very moment each of them was murdered. Her feelings were confirmed when Aeryn sent her word of what had happened. Not too long after, another letter came, but this one was from Aethelwulf. Aedelheide often sent messages to him concerning her visions, but he rarely wrote back. The letter detailed the death of Aemon, but it was something she already knew. The letter alluded to as much; Aethelwulf had always been the most intelligent and understood her abilities better than most of their siblings.
Shortly after, the treaty was signed, and the war was ended. Aedelheide saw it in a dream before the news reached her camp, but even though she was Lady Dis and the Firebird, no one was allowed to leave camp until a messenger came with the news. When she arrived home, it was a grim reunion. Their remaining family was almost unrecognizably changed, and there was little joy and not much to celebrate. They had their lives, but some of them, especially Aethelwulf, would much rather have died.

the_rabid_snail | 303 comments Aedelheide Veora - Part Three

Biography cont'd: Things didn’t get much better when Aeryn was summoned to Whitestone castle and informed of his engagement to Lady Aurinda Larkspur. Aedelheide had to talk to him telepathically to keep him from exploding and destroying something. Once they were on their way home, she let him have at it.
She was just as angry about it as Aeryn was. The Larkspurs had done nothing but slaughter their family. Aedelheide was fine with them killing Aemon and some of her other family, who might have deserved it. However, she wasn’t going to ever forgive them for murdering Aesteria and Aengelia, who had been innocents in the feud and had never even been involved. All they had ever done was selflessly help and heal others. It was unforgivable, and she did not want to make peace with any of the Larkspurs. However, she didn’t have a choice. It seemed no one respected vows of celibacy anymore or the right to properly grieve. She and Aeryn and their other siblings had just arrived home after a brutal, horrid, and agonizing war, and already they were being forced to pretend like none of that had ever happened. Absolutely ridiculous. As soon as Aeryn sent for her after the wedding, she would be there immediately, even if she detested the prospect of living with her enemy and in the territory of the Seelie Court, her other enemy.

the_rabid_snail | 303 comments Full Name: Lothaire Cearnach Mingan Bravewolf
Nicknames: Little Wolf
Apparent Age: 16
Actual Age: 197
Title: Lord
Gender: M
Sexuality: Heterosexual

Appearance: Lothaire has neatly combed, chestnut brown hair that extends to the nape of his neck. Usually he wears it slicked back and sometimes ties the ends into a very tiny ponytail with a simple, silk ribbon. His eyes are dark hazel, but they sometimes appear to be green, brown, or deep blue depending on the light. He is roughly 5’8, which is much shorter than his other siblings, and unlike most other elves, has smooth, evenly tanned skin. His knuckles, hands, and feet have several callouses, however, but the rest of his skin is rather soft. His facial features are mostly gentle and slim. He has a moderately broad forehead, a small nose, slender, elfin ears, smooth cheekbones, and modest lips, and he is always clean-shaven. His frame is not as broad and muscular as his brothers’, but he could never be described as bony or lanky. He possesses considerable arm and back muscles and powerful calves from years of practice in the art of fencing, and he has large hands and feet, though his fingers are a somewhat slimmer.
His family’s colors are sepia, blue, and gold, so usually he can been seen wearing something in those shades. He prefers trousers and tunics that are simple in design and easy to maneuver in, especially when he is practicing with his family’s large collection of swords. For more grand occasions, he wears decorative tunics and shirts in bright colors with gold accents and darker pants, and his family crest (a howling wolf) is usually sewn onto his shirt or cape if he is wearing one. The only jewelry he wears is a bronze ring bearing the family crest.

Fae Type: Elf
Court: Seelie
Thoughts on the Treaty: “It will be interesting to see if the family business declines or not since we are entering a time of peace.”

Power(s): Lothaire has enhanced senses of sight, smell, hearing, and taste and possesses superhuman strength, agility, and speed. He also has healing magic, minor nature powers, can shift into various species of wolves, and can communicate with and understand animals.

Family:

Parents: Garmr and Calista
Siblings: Renwick, Emil, and Amelie
Uncle: Talbot
Aunt: Salome
Cousins: Egan and Sigmund

Biography: Lothaire was the youngest child in his family, the Bravewolfs. The Bravewolfs had originally been smithies and craftsmen, and for generations they had forged some of the finest armor and weaponry in the entirety of the Seelie Court. Eventually, the more elite fae took notice of their work, and the family was commissioned by various nobles and royalty to create custom armor and weapons. Since their craftsmanship was rivaled by very few, the royal family of the Seelie Court decided they would only serve the crown and craft armor and blades for their guards, soldiers, and family members. Any commissions made by fae who were not related to the royal family would have to be authorized by the crown. After centuries of faithful and loyal servitude, the Bravewolf family was promoted to the lesser nobility of the Seelie Court, which is where they currently stand in the rankings.
Being the youngest, Lothaire was often looked over by the other nobility and family friends, but he never felt neglected by his parents. His father taught him the family craft along with his two older brothers, and he quickly became adept at the basics. His eldest brother, Renwick, had little talent or patience for the hard work of the forge and didn’t learn much else after being taught the simpler aspects of the craft. Lothaire and his other brother, Emil, progressed quickly and were soon able to complete the easier projects without much supervision or help from their father. Eventually, they moved on to more advanced work and when their father decided they were ready, they spent much of their time laboring in the forges and creating the various pieces that had been commissioned alongside their father and a few other employees.
As he grew older, Lothaire’s mother decided it was time for him to attend more social events and fill the other duties expected of him as a minor nobleman. Renwick had already been doing this for quite a while, and now it was Lothaire and Emil’s turn to do so as well. Lothaire quickly learned that he would never be as handsome and charming as Renwick and that the other fae women would never swoon over him like they did his brother, but he comforted himself with the secret knowledge that his eldest brother was not the brightest person and had not inherited the family talent at the forge. He was often a quiet presence at social gatherings and stuck by Emil’s side whenever possible, preferring to remain some distance away from Renwick. Most people had never heard his name and just referred to him as ‘Renwick’s brother.’ Still, he did manage to make a few friends, but most of his close friends were apprentices or children of the fae his father hired to help out in the forges.
One of the family traditions that had sort of died off once the Bravewolfs had been commanded to serve the royal family exclusively was the art of fencing. At one point in time, they had been renowned fencers (which was supposedly the reason they had also become blacksmiths) and had dominated tournaments for a long time, though all that had happened centuries and centuries ago. Lothaire decided he would try it out for himself and dedicated himself to becoming a master swordsman. Since he was already strong, disciplined, and patient from his training in the forge, it wasn’t a horrendously difficult practice for him to learn. His father instructed him first, and when he had exhausted his own knowledge, he hired more experienced teachers. After years of diligence and perseverance, he became known as an expert swordsman and participated in the various tournaments, winning more than he lost. At that point, people stopped referring to him as ‘Renwick’s brother,’ and started calling him by his own name, much to his delight.
Between his social duties, fencing practice, and labor in the forges, he keeps busy, but he always has time for a quick adventure or two.

Important Miscellaneous Information: He doesn’t like being compared to his eldest brother, Renwick.
He is very proud of his skill in the forge and as a swordsman, and he hopes to inherit the family business from his father someday.
He is a distant relative of Ianira Moonshiver and her siblings. His mother had a younger sister named Salome, but the two of them had an ugly falling out. So, Salome switched from the Seelie Court to the Unseelie Court where she married Talbot Starshine. Talbot’s younger brother is Eoghan, who is Ianira’s father.

the_rabid_snail | 303 comments Full Name: Galina Eira de Lancret
Nicknames: Gal, Lina
Apparent Age: 18
Actual Age: 148
Title: Lady
Gender: F
Sexuality: Heterosexual

Appearance: Galina has silky, white-blonde hair that ripples gently like a waterfall down to her hips. Normally she leaves her flowing tresses down and pins a few strands off her face or behind her head with glittering combs. Her eyes are shimmering, rainbow blue with tiny threads of silver laced throughout the irises, and her skin is as white and delicate as sea foam. Like a true river nymph, her frame is slim and ethereal, and she stands at about 5’7 with a full bosom and gorgeous curves. Her face is made of velvety, porcelain skin with slightly angular features and not a single blemish or freckle. Her high, sharp cheekbones and wide eyes are her most prominent facial characteristics, and her entrancing eyes are framed by lengthy, ebony eyelashes. She has a petite forehead, a small nose, delicate yet sharp chin, thin, pale lips, and slender, elfin ears that narrow gracefully to a point. Her hands are dainty with elegant, elongated fingers that have never known callouses, and her feet are also tiny with miniature ankles, small toes, and neatly trimmed nails.
Galina prefers to wear gauzy, flowing dresses in shades of silver, blue, purple, gold, and green. Most of her gowns are ankle or floor-length, or they are knee or calf-length in the front and reach the floor in the back. Several of her clothes are made of gossamer or similar materials, and some others are designed to resemble waterfalls or sea foam or flowing streams. Most of the jewelry she wears is delicate but tasteful so as not to overpower her slender frame. Dangling earrings, chokers, pendants, pearls, hair combs, circlets, simple rings, intricate necklaces, and elegant bracelets are her favorite types of jewelry and adornments. For less formal occasions, she decorates her exquisite locks of hair with flowers or shimmering scales. Often she can be seen barefoot with only anklets or toe rings on her feet, but when an event requires shoes, she wears small flats or high heels. Sometimes she dons sheer shawls to complement her outfits as well.

Fae Type: River nymph
Court: Seelie
Thoughts on the Treaty: “Oh, joy. I’m not an advocate of war, but I know the merging of the courts means my parents will try to find husbands in the Unseelie Court for me and my sisters. I know I came of age nearly half a century ago, but I’m not ready to be engaged and then married. Neither is Zoya. I only wish I had enough courage to marry for love and not power.”

Power(s): As a river nymph, Galina can control water, but her grasp over freshwater is slightly stronger than her control over saltwater. In addition, she can manipulate air and light, and she also has powers of healing. She can shapeshift into any aquatic animal that can live in freshwater, and she possesses the ability to communicate with and understand all freshwater creatures and animals that live near riverbanks. She can also breathe underwater, has enhanced sight while submerged in water, and can use electrolocation or echolocation to see underwater if she wants.
Family:

Parents: Jean and Hannela
Siblings: Araxie, Sapphronia, Zoya, Serefina, Ekaterina, Irene, Odessa, Styrling, and Ivory

Biography: Galina was the sixth child born to her father, Jean, and her mother, Hannela. Her elder sisters were Araxie, Sapphronia, Zoya, Serefina, and Ekaterina, and her younger sisters were Irene, Odessa, Styrling, and Ivory. The women in her family were renowned for their beauty, and she and her siblings were no exception. Galina was not the prettiest of her sisters; Sapphronia, Zoya, and Serefina had always been more beautiful, but she did not suffer from any lack of handsome and wealthy suitors.
Most of her early life was spent being tended to by nurses or playing with her older sisters. Araxie was a great deal older than her and usually off at various social functions or courting different suitors from court, but Sapphronia and Zoya didn’t mind her tagging along with them. Often they splashed in the rivers and streams or played on the riverbanks with their long skirts rippling in the water. Zoya and Serefina would braid water lilies and vines into Galina and Ekaterina and their little sisters’ hair, and Sapphronia would pluck at the gold strings of her harp and serenade them with her ethereal singing voice. Other fae sometimes lingered to listen to the music and admire the sisters, but Galina and her siblings usually pretended like they were alone.
Araxie, being the eldest, was one of the more mature sisters. Galina never got to know her very well since her sister got married before Galina was even one hundred years old and was absent most of the time, but still Galina looked up to her as a role model. Araxie was everything a proper lady should be: poised, graceful, tactful, intelligent, patient, eloquent, stunning, and gentle. She was also courageous and had married for love instead of advantage, something that infuriated their parents to no end. Araxie had been meant to marry the son of another, powerful noble family, but instead she became engaged to a lesser nobleman and married him when she was of age against her own family’s wishes. Jean and Hannela ceased to see her after the wedding and encouraged Galina and her siblings to have nothing to do with her and her husband. Since she had not yet come of age, Gal obeyed, but she never refused to help Sapphronia and Zoya sneak out to visit their eldest sister.
As she grew older, she was expected to lead the same lifestyle as her older siblings (with the exception of Araxie). Sapphronia and Ekaterina were notorious for the number of flings and courtships they had with other nobleman. They never had less than a few gentlemen admirers at one time, and Gal thought they had probably been to bed with half the court by now. Zoya and Serefina were not as promiscuous, but they had their fair share of noblemen suitors. Zoya was one of the more headstrong sisters and preferred to do things her own way. Galina knew she had no desire to marry and settle down, but it was a secret she kept from their parents. Serefina was much more demure and despite being one of the more stunning sisters, had fewer courtships and admirers than Sapphronia and Ekaterina. She was much shyer and significantly less of a flirt. In time, Galina acquired a respectable number of suitors, but like Zoya, she did not enjoy having an escort or a nobleman to ensure her every want and need was met at all times.
To her dismay, most of her younger siblings turned out like Sapphronia and Ekaterina. She had honestly hoped for another sister like Zoya, since her rebellious sister was mostly preoccupied with rejecting her parents’ marriage arrangements for her, but the closest she got was Odessa. Odessa was a quiet girl who wanted to be a writer and a poet and find “true love.” Gal couldn’t very well do anything risky or adventurous with her little sister, but at least they could talk about something other than men. It wasn’t that Galina never wanted to get married; she did. But she didn’t entirely feel ready for it, and she didn’t enjoy toying with the hearts of her suitors like some of her other sisters seemed to. Zoya had told her that she was a bit like Araxie, but Gal had never really known her and couldn’t say for sure whether she thought it was true or not.
Somehow, Araxie remained the only sister to get married so far. Sapphronia and Ekaterina still have no desire to settle down, and Zoya has her hands full arguing with Jean and Hannela about her future and turning down all their ideas of potential husbands. Serefina has mostly disappeared these days, and Odessa busies herself with writing sonnets and haikus about eternal love, leaving Gal to fend for herself in court and against her more promiscuous sisters, especially Sapphronia, Ekaterina, and Styrling.

Important Miscellaneous Information: Gal is a favorite at court and has a large friend circle as well as several gentlemen suitors or admirers.
She is accomplished in singing, playing the harp and flute, dancing, painting, and sewing.
She loves swimming in any body of water (though freshwater is her favorite), and it is rumored that a kiss from her while underwater will grant the recipient the ability to breathe underwater for a short amount of time.

Full Name: Lillium Briar Melantha Chantrea Dusk
Apparent Age: Sixteen
Actual Age: One Hundred and Fifty

Title: Lady

Born Gender: Female
Gender Identification: Female
Sexuality: As Yet Undiscovered

Appearance: Lillium is slight of build, four feet high with a slender frame and long obsidian locks that tumble like a mound of raven's feather's over her bony shoulders when left unbound. Her face is an oval, with wide emerald eyes framed by long, thick, voluptuous sooty lashes. She always tries to look her best, using the money her kin send her to purchase beautiful gowns and jewels that flatter her porcelain skin ans ebony hair. Her wings are reminiscent of those of a moth and range in colour from the deepest purple to the palest lilac. Her ears are pointed at the tips.

Fae Type: Elf
Court: Unseelie
Thoughts on the Treaty: "Peace would be nice, I suppose. I personally doubt Mihaill will ever get along with anyone who is not Sholto, and Zephyr seemed so happy with the Seelie Princess."

Power(s): As well as flight, Lillium is an adept spellcaster. She can communicate telepathically with others who have the power of telepathy, put up a magical shield around herself and others that protects against all but the strongest attack, walk into others' dreams and control the element of air.

Biography: Before Ellowyn came to power as Aodhan's advisor, her father occupied this position, with his wife standing dutifully at his side. Ellowyn's father, Eldred, had an elder brother by the name of Everard, who too had a wife who stood by him. She was a young and beautiful thing, many years his junior, but obedient to his every whim, for she wanted for what he had promised her. Everard had it in his mind to unseat his brother and become the Royal Advisor, and for many years he tried to do so. He attempted to discredit his brother and slowly gain the ear of the king. He gained the love of the common people, and while all this was going on, his wife was with child.
She gave birth to a beautiful baby girl with hair as black as ebony and skin as white as snow, and they gave her principal lady in waiting the honour of naming the girl. Lillium, for the lily as white as her skin. Lillium was adored by all, but so too was Elric's daughter Ellowyn, who despite not being a baby could turn a crowd to her advantage any day of ther week. Eventually, matters became desperate for Everard. Seeing that he would not win this silent war through manipulation, he attempted to poison the king, with the idea of framing his brother and coming to the rescue. It was the little girl, Ellowyn, who was his undoing. She had never trusted him, and forced him to confess by asking him outright if he had poisoned the king. She kept asking until he could no longer evade her question and the king himself demanded a yes or no answer.
That was how Lillium's father fell from favour. She was three at the time, but she remembers it well. She remembers having many servants to attend her, but after that she was held in a tower with her father and mother, the place where all high ranking traitors are held. Her father was sentenced to death, and she and her mother were forced to watch in the front row. As her mother knew of the plan, she was executed also on the charge of conspiracy to commit treason. They kept Lillium locked in the tower, unsure what to do with her. She was only a child after all, and after many hours of questioning, it became apparent that she knew nothing of her father's plans, although she knew that he was up to something. She had assumed he was just going to give the king a present, or that her mother was with child again and he was excited about that. They could not execute an innocent.
Her uncle was no help. His brother had brought shame on his family, and so he advocated to have her stripped of her title and locked away somewhere safe, perhaps in a temple. Years passed in this indecisive way, and Lillium came to believe that she would forever be a prisoner of the tower. She could always tell which way they were leaning by how luxurious her conditions were. If they were leaning towards clemency, her food was good and a fire burned in the grate. If they leaned towards severity, there was no fire and very little food. But when she was eighty, her uncle died. Her cousin Ellowyn took over immediately as the king's advisor. Her conditions vastly improved and she was given a servant to wait upon her, who told her that Lady Ellowyn was steering the king towards a treaty with the unseelie court. Her cousin had it in mind to send her as a lady in waiting to an unseelie noble as a gesture of good will.
Having grown up in the seclusion of a tower, she knew nothing of the unseelie court, nor of the war, and so she did not fear this. She still viidly remembers the day she was called down from the tower, one soldier gently holding her left arm, another her right, in case she should stumble, and brought to Lady Ellowyn. The woman had smiled at her and asked if she wished to be free of her imprisonment and instead go to be the lady in waiting to Lady Eirlys. In a voice hoarse from disuse, she exclaimed that she would be delighted to do so.
Before she could be sent to the unseelie court, she had to be retrained. She learned to ride a horse, to dance, to sing and play various instruments. She learned to speak eloquently, to read and write poetry. And, of course, she had to learn to control and master her arcana. It took a little longer than expected, just over three years, but eventually she was ready to be sent to Lady Eirlys. Ellowyn explained to her that she was still a Lady, but all of their lands and fortune now belonged to the crown. Still, the king was generous and would pay her weekly so that she could buy new gowns and jewels, out of the money that he had claimed for her father's betrayal. She explained that it was a great honour to be a lady in waiting, and that they often married well. Hearing this, Lillium was content.
And so she went to Moonshiver Castle, where she has been ever since.

Important Miscellaneous Information: Lillium is always striving to erase her father's reputation and uphold the honour of her surname for the sake of her cousin Ellowyn, her savour, to whom she is entirely devoted. She always strives for perfection, knowing that the tiniest mistake in either court could mean death.

Crabby Constance (crabbyconstance) | 128 comments Name: Melantha Moonshiver
Title: Lady
Apparent Age: 15
Actual Age: 86
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Heterosexual

Appearance: (view spoiler)

Fae Type: Elf
Court: Unseelie
Thoughts on the Treaty: “I’m excited for the coming peace. I just want everyone to get along.”

Powers (if any): Melantha has enhanced senses, especially sight, hearing, and smell. Additionally, she has perfect night vision and is a natural empath. She possess slight control over air, but her strongest power is suggestion or persuasion. She uses it to gain her desires or in order to further advance her standings, though she does feel awful when she directs it on close friends or family, so she avoids this. Being able to understand how people are feeling and suggest things through her magic go hand in hand, and have often provided her with a deeper control of other people. She also has very slight telepathic abilities, allowing her to communicate with those she is naturally very close to.

Family:

Parents: Belladonna and Eogan Moonshiver
Siblings: Ianira, Velika, Lycidas, Arawn, Catriona, Melchior, Badriyah, and Isolde Moonshiver
Aunts: Kolfinna, Asphodel, and Kairos
Uncles: Wolfram (in law), Athansius, Ozul (in law), Lucien, Killian, Silvan
Cousins: Eirlys, Ennata

Biography: Born seventh in a long line of nine children to Belladonna Moonshiver, Melantha grew up mostly undisturbed by her parents. Her mother only cared about Ianira, leaving the second eldest Velika in charge of the younger ones frequently. While Melantha appreciated the mothering from her sister, she became self-sufficient and responsible on her own. She learned how to subtly please Belladonna by maintaining her appearance and manners constantly, and in this way she avoided any negative attention cast on herself. As a child of Belladonna, there was no such thing as positive attention.
Melantha matured, forming her own friendships and past times. She mostly spent her time with her sisters Catriona and Badriyah, and the three had a penchant for shopping and antiquing in the markets. Using the powers of persuasion she’d inherited from her mother, she’d barter for things she admired at a price lower than they were worth. Over the years, Melantha built up quite a collection of jewelry, dresses, picture frames, paintings, old boxes, wooden figurines, ancient symbols, musty books with signatures, and so on. However, she most enjoyed shopping for things she could wear, but especially necklaces. She wasn’t as conceited or flirtatious as Catriona, nor as shy as Badriyah, though she did occasionally get back at her mother for ignoring her by taking expensive shopping sprees. She also always tried to drag Isolde along on their adventures even though her youngest sister complained, protested, and then usually gave in.
Melantha attempted to be as inclusive as possible, thereby gaining a large friend circle among the Unseelie court. She had her fair share of admirers as well, but she knew her mother would never allow her to marry until it was beneficial - and certainly not before her other siblings either. She hated the twisted control her mother held over her future, but she let most of her frustration out by spending Belladonna’s money. Either way, Melantha grew very popular and developed extensive friendships, not to mention her sisters’ own friends as well that she’d met or spent time with occasionally. Perhaps she wasn’t the most influential, but at least someday she could use her acquaintances for her mother’s benefit in exchange for marrying who she wanted to - or so she hoped.
Important Miscellaneous Information:
Melantha is the third youngest child and is therefore very useless to Belladonna.
She has lots of freedoms, mainly does as she pleases, and is quite popular.
Her favorite pastimes include reading and shopping.
Catriona and Badriyah are her best friends, but she also enjoys being with Isolde, Ennata, or just generally anyone.

Actual Age: 139
Title: Mercenary
Born Gender: Female
Gender Identification: Female
Sexuality: Pansexual

Appearance:
https://40.media.tumblr.com/21dbaa77b...
Fair, yellowish skin dappled with freckles. Vibrant green eyes. Rose red hair often decorated with black roses.

Fae Type: Blodnbryd
Court: Unseelie
Thoughts on the Treaty: She could warm up to the Seelie is she tried, but it wouldn't be her first choice.

Power(s):
She can be very "persuasive" when it comes to getting what she wants. She almost has an aura of seduction, if she chooses, she could make anyone fall for her easily. Though, her ability is draining on her and she doesn't use it often. It is also less potent on those who are already committed to someone else, which can make some assignments harder.

Biography:
Raizel could probably change her ways if she tried, but she's never really been into the whole "nice girl" thing. Perhaps if she met the right person, she could be convinced, but until then, she likes having power. She likes being the desired one. The one who spreads her seeds wherever she goes. Her black roses practically spread like wildfire, sprouting up in places where plants should be unable to thrive, let alone survive.
Raizel likes people, sometimes a little too much. Her favorite jobs are luring her victims in, having a little fun, and then killing them in their sleep. She's not too sadistic, at least they got to have a good time before they died.
Beware of this rose's thorns though, because they'll prick you in the most unexpected way.

Important Miscellaneous Information: Her middle name is Widow because her mother was widowed just before she was born.

Dark brown, almost black hair. Deep blue eyes. Charming smile.

Fae Type: Pixie
Court: Lesser Unseelie Court of the Pixies
Thoughts on the Treaty: He couldn't care less about politics

Power(s): The little people have a special talent for casting charms that affect human behavior. They can enchant children and beautiful maidens into joining one of their dances, or they can muddle travelers and cause them to wander for miles in the wrong direction.

Biography: Neptune is very outspoken. If someone asks him a question, he'll give them a straight answer, whether or not it's the answer they want to here. He was never a fan of messing with mortals, despite his abilities as a pixie. He'd much rather leave them to their own devices, especially since that he's noticed they don't need help making the dumb decisions.
He enjoys spending time in nature and dancing with the breeze. Being as small as he is (considering pixies are freakin' tiny), he likes to let the wind take him where it will. Very laid back and relaxed most of the time, he will bite back if forced to. He is always down for a good debate, the sense of victory he gets from winning one is the best feeling in the world.
Important Miscellaneous Information: His outspoken nature has caused many of the people he considered close to leave him. He's a little much for some people.

Full Name: Guinevere Roslin Myfanwy Gisla de Barra
Apparent Age: Twenty-Five
Actual Age: Four Hundred and Thirty
Title: Queen/Lady
Born Gender: Female
Gender Identification: Female
Sexuality: Heterosexual

Appearance: Guinevere is an ethereal beauty, known for captivating the hearts of others. Many wish to possess her, but they know it would be foolish to try. Her husband won her in conquest and he would not hesitate to slaughter any man who dared attempt to take her. That does not mean, however, that many have not been tempted.
Her skin is as pale as the moon and possesses an otherworldly glow that only enhances her radiance. She has not a single freckle. Her skin seems always to be in perfect condition, for her husband will accept nothing less. However, many dark secrets lurk beyond the layers of magical cosmetics she artfully applies each morning. Should you ever catch her without these cosmetics, you might find a bruise blackening under her eye and another fading on her arm. Of course, that is highly unlikely to happen. She is always meticulous in her concealment of them, lest she receive another for her carelessness.
Her face is oval in shape, yet unlike some oval shaped faces it is not overly long and thin. Her nose is just the right size for her face, again, not too long, but thin and delicate. All of her features are perfectly symmetrical. Her rosebud lips are neither too thick nor too thin and part to reveal slightly pointed teeth that glisten like pearls. Her ears are slightly pointed at the tips, an indicator of the faerie blood that runs through her beins. Her eyes are a pale violet flecked subtly with gold, encapsulated by thick golden lashes.
She stands at four feet and five inches. Her wings are every shade of purple you can imagine, the different hues bleeding seemlessly into one another to create a spectacle of breathtaking beauty.
When left unbound, her hair spirals to her hips in loose waves like a waterfall of spun gold. When not in her own chambers though, she often adorns it with some sort of accessory at the very least, as she is always meticulously careful with her appearance.

Personality: Guinevere was raised as a lady of the seelie court, and so up to the age of one hundred, she was the ideal seelie courtier. Fortunately, some of her parents' teachings have come in far more useful than anyone ever would have guessed. From the moment she was born, she was taught that the patriarch -- the husband, the father -- is the head of the houshold and that he should be obeyed; his every whim catered to by wife, child and slave alike, his every need met. Her mother taught her that impeccable manners were everything, coaching her on how to be the perfect lady from the time she spoke her first word. These are skills that she now uses to her greatest advantage.
Over her years at the Unseelie Court, she has learned to become a master wordsmith. Words have become an artform to her now. She has not many advantages against her husband, but those she does have she uses well. As a fae she cannot lie, but she can call on specific memories in order to emulate certain emotions -- a trick she will occasionally play if she feels a desperate need to manipulate her husband. He is a difficult man to please, for he is incredibly demanding and feels a need to be both feared and loved. Guinevere feels no love for the man, but she certainly feels the fear. As his wife, she is honour bound to obey him, but she secretly dreams of being swept off her feet in a whirlwind romance, though she knows such dreams are dangerous. She is a wise woman, after all. She knows that her husband won her in conquest and would not hesitate to kill any man who dared oppose him for her. Still, she dreams of light instead of darkness, love instead of fear.
Guinevere seems to be the ideal bride: she is always presentable and rarely is she heard; she answers her husband's every summons, obeys his every command and tends to his every need. She sees to it that the slaves and servants perform their duties to her husband's high standard. Some judge her harshly because they believe her to be quite empty-headed, as she does not express her opinions very often. In truth, this is not true. She is a very intelligent, astute woman. She has many opinions, she simply does not express them to those she knows she cannot trust, and she trusts very few. She discusses only trivial things, like cosmetics and clothing, with her handmaidens, as she knows that any of them could be a spy for, or a mistress of, her husband.

Fae Type: Halfling (Elf/Undine)

Court: Unseelie (Court of Shade)
Thoughts on the Treaty: "My husband says that is not becoming for a woman to speak her thoughts aloud; a good wife is seen and not heard." [i]Yet I fear that he will not accept this treaty, that he will never bow willingly to a Seelie Queen...

Power(s): Guinevere has the ability to breathe underwater. She is also able to manipulate the water, from boiling it to shaping it to turning it to ice. She can also communicate with any water-dwelling animal. As well as enhanced senses on land as well as underwater, she has the ability to cast spells due to her elven side. Her body can heal fairly quickly from most illnesses and injuries, so too can she heal others. One of the key exceptions to this is iron, or any poison that negates magic.

Biography: Guinevere was born to Leodegrance and Eluned, their youngest child and only daughter. Leodegrance was a lesser Seelie King, ruler of a well-established court known as the Court of Dreams. He was loved and respected by his people, as was her mother. She was his prize, his jewel, and the object of her brothers' constant affections. Though much was expected of her, she wanted for nothing, especially love.
When she was fifty, she was betrothed to Tristan, the oldest son of King Emrys Lothian of the Court of Mist, and King Lothian's chosen heir. The idea was that when she came of age, she would rule at his side as his queen. For fifty years the couple bonded, making visits back and forth between each other's courts. Guinevere, more than content with the match, eagerly awaited the day when she would marry the kind Prince of the mists.
Alas, three weeks before her hundredth birthday, another man entered her life. A citizen of the lesser Unseelie Court of Shade had forcibly talen the virginity of the wife of a citizen of their court. In retaliation, the husband of that woman had challenged the man to a duel. The woman's husband had managed to cut off one of her attacker's hands with his sword, but he was killed soon afterwards with a deadly curse, despite having specifically requested a non-magical fight. The ruler of the Court of Shade was refusing to punish this citizen, claiming that he had not murdered the man as they were engaged in a dual, despite the fact that a non-magical fight had been agreed to and these terms had not been honoured. Nor would he punish the man for rape, arguing that the loss of his hand in the dual was punishment enough and that the matter had been solved between the two men. Dissatisfied, Leodegrance travelled with his family to Lilim to sort things out. He demanded that the man look upon his daughter, Guinevere, and asked him to imagine how he would feel if such a thing were done were done to a member of his family. The King of Dreams had just made a dreadful mistake, for in inviting the shade to look upon a dream come true, he had set in motion a series of events that would change their lives forever.
Three weeks later, a grand banquet was held at Aisling Castle in honour of her betrothal to Tristan Lothian. She can still remember that night in vivid detail: the maids dressing her hair in the adult fashion for the first time; the lower cut of her off-the-shoulder dress, like the ones her mother sometimes wore to parties, a signal of her new adulthood and her eligibility for marriage. She had been seated next to her betrothed, and there had been toasts to their happiness and many beautiful gifts. And then he had swept into the room in crimson robes, his red cap ready to be quenched in blood -- King Velibor Areithos Amraphel Aeoelric de Barra of the Court of Shade, the man who would soon shatter all of her dreams.
He strode forward, demanding that King Leodegrance yield his daughter to him. Leodegrance stated that his daughter was a Seelie fae, but Velibor pointed out that as his daughter was now one hundred, she had the option to change courts. He told Guinevere that if she did not do so willingly, a disaster beyond her imagination would occur. Her father forbade it, while her betrothed pleaded with her not to do so, assuring her that she was safe. While Tristan attempted to calm Guinevere, her younger brothers escorted the guests out of the building and her eldest saw to her mother. Velibor did not try to stop this, as he had no interest in the guests, nor Queen Eluned. It was her daughter he had come for. Meanwhile, the honourable Leodegrance stepped forward to engage their uninvited guest in combat. But Leodegrance was older, and it had been many years since he had seen a battle. Velibor was a seasoned warrior and thus easily defeated the well-intentioned man. Her betrothed rushed forward to avenge him, but he was young and inexperienced. He had yet to fight a true battle, and his judgement was clouded by panic and anger. The older fae, spurred on by steely determination, defeated him even more easily than he had his first opponant. He swore to Guinevere that he would kill each and every one of her brothers if she did not promise herself willingly to him, and so she knelt at his feet and swore to be his true and faithful bride until death did them part. He took the very engagement ring Tristan was going to present to her from the dead man's pocket and slipped it onto her finger, then carried her off back to his own court.
One month later, they were wed in a lavish ceremony. Nobody in her family was invited. He forbade her from ever contacting them again, or from stepping foot on Seelie soil without him being there to watch her. He has forbidden her from leaving the grounds of his castle without a guard and she is constantly under scrutiny when in his presence. All infractions are severely punished. He has put restrictions on when, where and how she can use her magic; in fact, every element of her life is controlled. Yet, through it all she endures, for she knows that if she does not then he will slaughter all those she cares for. The castle in which she resides is much more a prison than a home to her. Guinevere knows exactly what she is, a hostage that goes by the title of Queen. Still, she plays her part well. She finds joy in all she can, knowing she would lose her sanity completely if she did not. Though she is forbidden to see her brother, the one handmaiden she does trust -- who also happens to be her dearest friend -- has informed her that her mother named another of her brothers, Leontes, the heir to the Court of Dreams one week after the tragic events of her betrothal banquet. Leontes was coronated almost immediately and wed to his sweetheart, Lady Roslin, who is now Queen of the Court. Her handmaiden also told her that in Tristan's place, King Lothian appointed his third eldest son, Tarian, to rule the Court of Mist. Most recently, she has learned that the young daughter of King Emrys Lothian, the man who almost became her father in law, has come of age.

Important Miscellaneous Information: Guinevere always wears an onyx set in white gold on the fourth finger of her left hand, a symbol of her marriage to the man who murdered her father and former betrothed. Being part Undine, she has a beautiful soprano voice, and often sings to pass the time.

Anastasia | 41 comments Full Name: Shrylaine "Shry" Willowspell Antibarnes
Apparent Age: 19 years
Actual Age: 180 years
Title: Poet, Bard
Born Gender: Female
Gender Identification: Female
Sexuality: Demisexual Lesbian

Appearance:
(view spoiler)
Stark black hair the is always feathered out and is difficult to maintain. Sunflower yellow eyes. Elongated oval-shaped face. The largest feature on her face is her nose.
Shry is short and long. A slim body without any major curves, and that's the way she likes it. Her legs are long and flexible.

Fae Type: Raven-maid
Court: Unseelie
Thoughts on the Treaty: She is a fan of the peace, it makes it easier to spread her stories.

Power(s): Raven-maids are similar to the water fae, selkie. They are tied to a cloak of feathers that allows them to shape shift into ravens at will, though it costs energy. She also has the ability to bind another to the life of a Raven-maid, provided they are not already fae.

Biography:
Shry has had a love of storytelling for as long as she can remember. Sometimes it's through song, sometimes poetry, and sometimes a story is simply a story. She writes whenever she has the chance, but more often than not, they are inspired by true events. She likes to live her life between the balance of black and white, the grey area of morality is where she dares to venture. She prefers not to hurt others, but not because it's right, simply because it's not very enjoyable to her. She can often be found somewhere up high, often in trees, feeling the wind in her feathers and writing up a draft of a poem.
She prefers to keep her abilities to herself, as they were taken advantage of once when her cloak was taken by a mortal, binding her into slavery until they died or let her go. That was the only time she has ever killed someone, and she would like to keep it that way.
Important Miscellaneous Information: Raven-maids are created, not born.
She works for the Unseelie royal family, having been recently employed by them for entertainment.

@Anastasia: She's really interesting! Is she Allura's love interest? So since she's a bard, does that mean she works of her own free will for the Unseelie Royal family then? (not as a raven-maid but as a bard/storyteller)?

Anastasia | 41 comments She is indeed!
I planned to have her work of her own, but if she did work for the royal family, that may offer some interesting rp opportunities.
Which do you think would work best?

It would probably work best if she worked for the Unseelie Royal Family. Then she would get more opportunities to roleplay with Allura. Perhaps she's only just started working for them and they employed her because they heard she was such an amazing storyteller?

Crabby Constance (crabbyconstance) | 128 comments Forrester M. Lennon - Part One
Full Name: Forrester Mahler Lennon
Apparent Age: 17
Actual Age: 98
Title: None
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Heterosexual

Appearance: If someone offered a shower, a haircut, fresh clothing, and shoes to Forrest, he could appear almost civilized and handsome. Unfortunately, no one has, so he looks just like the dirty street urchin that he is. His straight brown hair is always tangled and shaggy, crawling down the nape of his neck and flopping over into his eyes. His locks gleam disgustingly with oils and grease, obviously rarely washed. Haircuts come even less frequently for him. Once his hair starts reaching his shirt collar, his sister forces him to let her trim it. Usually though, it hangs like a limp, damp rag draped across his head. Forrest constantly has to push it out of his eyes, so it’s naturally parted on the right side. It especially irritates him if it falls into his view, which is when he begs his sister for a trimming. Forrest has calm, hazel irises, with ribbons of green hugging his pupils, speckled with muddy browns and slimy grays. His eyes would resemble a disgusting swamp if it weren’t for the peaceful sage green twirling and twisting around to mellow the colors out. Thick, brown brows usually position themselves into a frown, shadowing his upturned eyes and short lashes, and wrinkling his forehead. This expression has become so permanent that even when Forrest isn’t frowning, those scowl lines are still faintly present. His sun-kissed skin is buried under smudges and smears of dirt, mainly evident on his cheekbones, neck, and forehead. A sprinkle of dark freckles across his cheeks used to be very visible, but now they are practically indiscernible from the mud. Grime and bruises are inescapable – anywhere you look, you’re bound to find an abundance tarnishing his lightly tanned skin. Both his nose and lips are unnaturally narrow, the former typically burnt by the sun to the color of a strawberry, while the latter is pale and dry. His thin face holds an almost unhealthy lack of fat, emphasizing his cheekbones, which are neither particularly high nor low. From his temples and brow, his elongated face gently tapers down to a prominent chin. Forrest is absolutely unable to grow any facial hair worth noticing. A few, light whiskers scratch his jawline and neck, but he’s never even needed to shave because of how faint they are. A tanned, thick neck extends to a pair of broad, tough shoulders, and strapping biceps. Forrest’s short height and crouched posture tricks others into severely underestimating his athleticism and muscle. He’s quick, robust, and very powerful. Thus from years of practice, he excels at punching, running, jumping, climbing, and carrying heavy objects or people – all skills which have announced themselves in the form of extremely evident muscle on his body. Yet, he sneaks around, hiding in whatever corners he finds. Forrest constantly stands on edge, listening and waiting. He always appears tensed, as if ready to leap out and tackle someone. His skittish nature has done him many favors, though it also means he looks very uncouth and loutish at all times. Despite his muscle though, Forrest is still deprived of food and much skinnier than he should be. His forearms are tinted a permanent pink from the sun, and his hands and feet are scarred with callouses and random scrapes. Most noticeably, there is dirt everywhere. It covers his feet, his legs, his face, and his arms, while working its way into his hair and clothes. The filth is never-ending, and any type of bath is quickly rendered useless as soon as he steps outside again. Bruises mar his chest, back, and knees, typically from pulling risky stunts, running from commoners, or just from sleeping on cobblestones, rocks, and sticks. The stench is also inescapable. The scent of sweat, grime, and trash hover around him and sticks to his clothing. Even despite how accustomed he is to the smell, he still catches terrible whiffs of himself that cause him to gag. Occasionally, he’ll tuck a few flowers into his pockets to mask the smell, or he soaks his shirt in order to clean it, but there isn’t much else to be done about it. Any person to lay eyes on him only sees a grubby, foul, nasty waif that should be avoided like the plague. Luckily, Forrester strongly appreciates their retreat, though not the equally condescending, suspicious glares that follow him around.
There aren’t many options for him in the way of clothing, as most of the rags he salvages he gives away to others. Forrest usually wears a pair of brown trousers that seem quite too big for him, so he rolls up the ends of the pants and uses a piece of dirty rope as a belt so they won’t fall down. He also possesses one white shirt with a flat, button down collar, stops perfectly at his hips, and sleeves that reach just past his elbows. He leaves the collar unbuttoned and bunches the sleeves up at his biceps to keep them out of the way. Unfortunately for him, the shirt is an impractical white color that’s been continually darkened over time by dirt. His appearance is only made more disgusting by this. Since this is his only real set of clothing, it’s very hard for him to clean them unless he wants to go without them for a while – which he doesn’t. Occasionally, his sister will order him to clean the shirt, which means he’ll complain to her for several hours about not having a shirt to wear. As soon as it’s washed though, it picks up the dirt and the stench as soon as it touches his body, so he rarely soaks it these days. He owns no shoes, nor anything else. Forrest is a dirt-poor street urchin, and he looks the part.

Fae Type: Elf
Court: Seelie
Thoughts on the Treaty: "If this treaty works out - which I'm not qualified to predict because I could care less about the nobility's politics - at least it'll mean a safer world for the kids. But even if it doesn't, we'll be okay somehow."

Powers: Forrest has enhanced senses and reflexes.

Family:

Parents: Maia and Valeri Lennon (deceased)
Siblings: Sailor Atiya Lennon, Holland Wilder Lennon

Biography: Forrester never really knew his parents. By the time he and his sister Sailor became old enough to actually develop a relationship with them, it was rendered impossible. Their father Valeri never hung around the house during the daytime, and his mother was employed in a bar. She switched over to the night shift once Forrest arrived so she could care for him – and Valeri watched over him during her work hours. Then his sister Sailor entered the world, and then little Holland was born. A year after his brother’s arrival, his parents were killed. The only memories Forrest held of this time was helping his mother with the babies, and sleeping in a stuffy room next to them.
His life really started after their death. On his mother’s one night off, someone broke into their home, the glass shattering and waking Forrester. He herded his siblings out their bedroom window, careful to keep baby Holland quiet. He covered their ears when he heard his parents scream, reassured them when those cries were suddenly silenced, and snuck them down the alley once the building was swallowed by hot flames. The only thing that remained at the site was piles of ashes. Everything had been destroyed, leaving the surviving Lennons without a home, money, or any clothes but the ones they wore. Forrest stepped up to provide for the family, as he felt was his responsibility. Unfortunately, no one desired to employ a dirty orphan, and he didn’t think it best to leave Sailor and Holland alone on the streets all day anyway. Sailor could very well care for their littlest brother, but it wouldn’t be safe for her. She couldn’t defend herself. Forrester didn’t even consider finding a job after that. Instead, he thieved what they needed. The food was scarce at first, and he often got caught and beaten for trying to steal it. When he returned to his siblings’ hiding place in the alley, their pitiful faces and moans motivated him into not failing the next time. He grew skilled at slipping under the noses of the commoners, deciding what was worth stealing, what was possible to steal, and what his siblings required the most. He rarely departed from their sides unless in order to snatch things for them. They slept in the alleyways, hid behind buildings and piles of trash, avoided nosy villagers, and felt desperately uncomfortable no matter how they sat or lay on the streets. They became accustomed to it because they had to. Sailor and Holland complained, but Forrest suffered in silence. Sailor and Holland always ate first until their stomachs felt full, and Forrest consumed whatever scraps remained. Sailor and Holland received several layers of clothing and different outfits, while Forrest hadn’t changed out of his sole pair of trousers in months. He put them before himself. It was his rule – he would only accept the things they didn’t use.
The three fell into a better routine. Forrester found secluded places for them to sleep the night away together, then rose before dawn to scout out something for breakfast. He returned, woke them, fed them, and basically spent the rest of the day practicing his thievery, exercising, or teaching his siblings. Forrest threw his pent up energy into climbing, running, jumping, and fighting. Sometimes he let himself get caught by an angry commoner on purpose so he could work on fending them off and escaping. He sprinted as much as he could every day, tried to jump from high places or across things, and skulked around. Some of these didn’t go very well – the jumping blessed him with a large amount of bruises and scrapes, though he never pulled anything risky enough to seriously injure himself. Forrest also learned exactly where every street led, his sense of navigation in the city growing quite flawless. Thievery came easier to him as time passed, and he eventually conjured up a bit of a reputation among the people. Most of them called him Swiper since he never surrendered his actual name. Of course, several other waifs searched him out and begged him for his food after his notoriety spread. He never could bring himself to deny their malnourished, despairing faces, so he often faced sleep without much sustenance his his stomach. It also inspired other urchins to steal from him. On one such occasion, a boy had been sitting in the broken window frame of an abandoned building on the second story. When Forrest strode past, the boy swung his yoyo down and hit him on the head. Then his partner, who’d been lurking in the shadows, stepped out and tried to pickpocket Forrest in his surprise. Thankfully, Forrest realized what was happening and caught the second kid’s wrist, though he later ceded his few coins to them. Afterwards, the two followed him to his camp, and Forrest reluctantly extended an offer to stay with him. It then became Forrester, Sailor, Holland, Herbie, and Harrison. Herbie was simply called Yoyo, or sometimes Cap-Head since he always wore a checkered ivy cap. Forrest thought he’d really only seen the top of his head twice. Yoyo called Harrison “Squeak” for his constant voice cracks, and that nickname stuck as well. Eventually, their original names were forgotten. When the next kids showed up, Forrester began a small journal of each kid’s true, first name, and surname if possible. Herbie knew his last name, “Starnes,” but Harrison didn’t. He figured it’d be impossible to trace the boy back to his surname, so he gave up on that one quickly.

Crabby Constance (crabbyconstance) | 128 comments Forrester M. Lennon - Part Two

Biography Cont’d: The next to to join the clan were Barnum and Rabble. Forrest stumbled upon their amateur street show one day, and understood immediately. It wasn’t that hard to guess. Rabble had constructed a nice routine of jokes and tricks to gather the crowds’ attention, while Barnum snuck around and pickpocketed the distracted townsmen. Forrester watched from the corner, actually quite entertained. Rabble had a knack for humor, and the two boys seemed to have a sturdy partnership. He later approached the two after they’d disappeared from the main streets, asking them for help. Forrest introduced them to Yoyo, Squeak, and his siblings, and Barnum and Rabble slowly agreed to join up. They could aid the group by performing their show, Yoyo and Squeak would do theirs, and Forrest would ultimately provide anything else they needed. The boys respected him, as his cold nature demanded, but they mostly excluded him. Forrester didn’t mind. The children were all younger anyways, and more lighthearted.
Forrest and Sailor almost assumed the role of their guardians. Sailor encouraged the kids, found clothing for them, and always stayed in one place. In turn, Forrest divvied up the food – never failing to eat last after everyone had received their fill – and patched up any serious injuries. He also helped them improve their routines, escapes, and thievery. They were caught less, harmed less, and brought home more. Barnum even found particularly aromatic flowers and perfumes to share, thus cementing his nickname as “Stinky.”
As Forrest aged, he slept less. Once the children had all fallen asleep, he wandered around the dark streets for an hour or two, often until midnight. If he felt satisfied that everything was quiet and peaceful, he’d return, rest, and then awake again at dawn. These nightly walks benefited him in several ways. One, he had time to think. Two, he could feel utterly alone. Three, he could practice anything he wanted or exercise. Four, he could scavenge through the trash, search for things to eat if he was hungry, or – if he was lucky - find coins on the ground. Five, he kept an eye on the town. If he hadn’t, Isabelle would’ve died. A young baby girl had been born, and supposedly the parents didn’t want her. It seemed that the strange man had brought the crying child out in the alley to kill her. Not much triggered Forrest’s anger, but this certainly did. He found an empty beer bottle lying nearby, crept up behind the man, and cracked the bottle on his head. The stranger passed out and Forrest rescued the little girl. He named her Isabelle, and cared for her for the first several months of her life. She slept fairly soundly, but Forrest always stood nearby. He foraged bottles of milk for her, mashed up fruit, and even had clothes sewn for her. Eventually, he passed on the task of mothering Izzy to Sailor. His sister was much better at that sort of thing anyway. He felt a deep connection to the little girl, as if he were her father, but never spent an abundance of time with her. He found that his responsibilities closed that opportunity off. Forrest had seven kids to watch out for now, not just her. He did always sincerely enjoy it when Izzy toddled along next to him, holding his hand, but those occasions remained rare.
Forrest began spending the nights with the children, pushing his strolls to the daytime. He’d wandered quite a ways from his camp, though he trusted Stinky, Fremont, and Sailor to watch out for things, when he discovered the sound of a whimpering boy. Apparently, as Forrest gathered through a man’s muttered comments, the boy had tried to steal from him. The boy cowered on the ground, subjected kicks and slurs. The man promised that the thief would pay, but he’d clearly taken that notion far. He expressed his anger in beating the boy, who appeared skinnier than any other waif he’d met. As the boy lay defenseless, Forrest tackled the man, landing a few punches to his face. The man refused to leave either of them alone though, so he eventually cracked a crate on the back of his head so he’d pass out already. It was presumed that Forrest would bring the boy back to the camp. He didn’t speak much, nor did he eat much. The clan nicknamed him “Worm” for his skinniness, though he did begin to fill out after much urging from Sailor.
The group continued to grow in size. Forrest picked MacConnelly, Rolfe, and Turtle up. MacConnelly and Rolfe were orphaned brothers who’d taken it upon themselves to care for an abandoned girl. MacConnelly held the same spirit as Forrest, so he didn’t hesitate to join up. Rolfe and Turtle followed. Apparently, Turtle was her nickname, her real name being Trudy. Neither boy knew her surname. Worm then nicknamed Rolfe “Ro.” MacConnelly became Forrest’s most trusted associate, and he was privy to more information than anyone else.
Next, Forrest met “the biggest circus in town,” as they called themselves. A group of four kids - Wilburn, Dirk, Frieda, and Carlotta - performed an obnoxious show, usually centered around magic tricks. Unlike Rabble and Stinky though, they didn’t pickpocket the villagers. They preferred to earn their money a more honest way. Well, everyone except Dirk. Dirk preferred earning his money by tripping or shoving people, and then snatching it from them. At the end of the show, when Frieda and Carlotta asked for tips or donations, Forrest asked them if they would like to join the group. The girls accepted immediately, though Wilburn and Dirk were a bit more wary. Dirk hated people, and Wilburn didn’t like to be involved in thievery. Eventually they both relented. Frieda entertained the group with her love of syrup and sweets, so they nicknamed her “Honey.” They named Dirk “DP.” Carlotta insisted that the group call her “Dreamcatcher.” They all laughed and decided to name her “Dree” for short. Finally, Wilburn was nicknamed “Panda.” The poor kid was quite overweight, which brought him quite a lot of teasing.
The next kid to join their group was Berenice. MacConnelly had caught her trying to thieve from their clothing stash, so he offered her a home. Forrest also rescued an abandoned baby. After raising Izzy, Sailor wasn’t very happy about caring for another infant, but she acted in place of his mother. She named him Todd, though most of the kids just called him “Baby.”
He wasn’t really sure why all the kids joined so easily. Perhaps they realized there was protection in numbers, or they felt tired of trying to survive all alone. The clan held a certain, attractive spirit. Despite their differences, they were a team – a team of raggedy waifs, some without birthdates, some without any knowledge of their given names, some abandoned, some unwanted, but all desperately alone prior to their allegiance with the group. Forrester found them, Sailor cared for them, and the jokesters and optimists united them.
Important Miscellaneous Information:
Forrester is a thieving street urchin who has formed a gang of thieving street urchins.
His parents, Maia and Valeri Lennon, were stabbed and murdered by an unknown culprit for unknown reasons.
Forrester has aligned himself with the High Court in order to keep himself and the kids safe, though he has nothing else to do with them.

the_rabid_snail | 303 comments Andromache Lytherion Feridor - Dowager Queen - Part One

Full Name: Andromache Celandine Adara Sybilla Lytherion Feridor
Nicknames: Andra, Lily, Butterfly, Kee (used by family and close friends only)
Apparent Age: 16
Actual Age: 108
Title: Dowager Queen
Gender: F
Sexuality: Heterosexual

Appearance: Andromache’s thick, golden blonde hair falls in natural, loose curls all the way down to her hips. Vibrant roses, lilies, orchids, tulips, daisies, and a variety of other resplendent flowers are often braided or entwined into her tresses, and other times streams of gold and silver are threaded through her curls, making them gleam and sparkle in sunlight. Almost always a few of her radiant locks of hair are braided into a crown just above her forehead, and she adorns it with pearls, flowers, pretty ribbons, or other decorations. Her enchanting, serene eyes contain every shade of blue in the rainbow with a miniscule ring of ice blue around the pupils, cerulean in the middle, and faint tinges of indigo around the edges. Her skin is soft as satin and as fair as ivory, and not a single freckle nor blemish mars her velvety face. Gentle, dark lashes extend from her eyelids, and her delicate nose curves up just a tad at the end. She has a slender forehead, high cheekbones, a dainty, smooth chin, softly arching eyebrows, petite ears, alluring, rosebud lips, and perfect, pearl white teeth. Her neck is elegant and elongated, giving way to slim shoulders and a smooth back. Miniature butterfly wings of teal and gold are attached to her lower back, and two, matching pairs are hidden at the backs of her ankles. Together, all three pairs allow to her fly several feet above the ground, but she must enlist the aid of magic or enchantments to float any higher. She is blessed with a lovely, mid-sized bosom and ravishing curves, and her graceful legs are slightly longer than her torso and serve to grant her flawless carriage. Her hands, ankles, and feet are miniature and delicate, even for a fae woman of her size, and she possesses no birthmarks or tattoos.
Andra prefers understated but elegant clothing made of the finest silk, satin, or gossamer in colors of gold, turquoise, lavender, cerulean, mauve, spring green, dove gray, and other shades of these colors for public appearances. Her dresses fall to her ankles or to the floor, and her most formal gowns have trains of varying lengths. Pearls, gossamer shawls, nature-inspired jewelry, flowers, and hair combs are her favorite accessories, and though she prefers to be barefoot, she wears delicate heels and flats when appropriate. In the privacy of her own home, she wears plainer dresses in neutral colors, mostly grays and blacks, and dons minimal jewelry. When receiving guests, attending court, or visiting friends, she wears her more colorful gowns and adorns herself with the proper amount of jewelry and finery as it would not do to let on that she is still in mourning.

Fae Type: Elf
Court: Court of Stars (Seelie)
Thoughts on the Treaty: "I am overjoyed that there will finally be peace among the courts, and I am especially pleased that my cousin, Princess Eilidh, will be Queen of the High Court. I cannot imagine a more gracious and competent fae for this honor than her. But, I must admit, that quietly I am concerned for my future. Above all else, there is not an inkling of desire or even fantasy in me to remarry."

Power(s): Andromache can shift into a butterfly and a swallow, and she can fly with the aid of the miniature pairs of butterfly wings (one pair on her lower back and a pair each at the backs of her ankles). She can also control earth and air and possesses powers of healing and nature, and she has minor empathic and telepathic abilities.

Family:

Parents: Verrill and Elora Lytherion
Siblings: Adonia Lytherion Haveritte, Nikolos Haveritte (in-law), Galatea Lytherion Meroue, Petryn Meroue (in-law), Laomedon Lytherion, Retsina Lytherion (in-law), Calligenia Lytherion, Arien Lytherion, Marpesia Lytherion, Cyrus Lytherion, and Idalia Lytherion
Husband: Eitan Ravel Baer Eothir Feridor
Nephews and Nieces: Cathair Haveritte, Andor Lytherion, Lucine Haveritte, Leora Lytherion, and Medore Meroue
Aunt: Arwen Graceling
Cousin: Eilidh Graceling

Biography: Named after her grandmother (the first Lady Andromache Lytherion), Andromache was the fifth child born to her parents. As the daughter of an illustrious noble family, no door nor avenue was closed off to her, and her every need, whim, and fancy was fulfilled promptly. Wherever she went, fae and mortals alike praised her virtue and admired her beauty, paying her and her family the respects they were due. All through her childhood, she saw more of nursemaids, servants, and tutors than she did her parents. The times she did see her parents were often from afar at parties and other gatherings where she and her young siblings were always under the watchful eyes of their governess, expected to be on their best behavior and, above all, seen and not heard. Being born with a silver spoon in her mouth had its upsides, but there were definitely drawbacks as well.
While she had little contact with her mother in her younger years, her eldest sister, Adonia, cared for her in a motherly way like she did all the siblings, and Andra grew to love and respect her more and more as the years passed sluggishly by. Ever the prim lady, Adonia often advised her on what to wear and say, but she was also quick to praise and reward good behavior in her siblings with treats and kind words. The next sibling, Galatea followed dutifully in Adonia’s footsteps, though she had a penchant for mischief and merriment and was often scolded for speaking too forwardly or indulging in spiced wine and dancing late into the night at balls and parties. Andra rather enjoyed attending social events with Galatea or just being by her side in general, for even the most dull and dreary days cooped up inside their adjoining quarters could be transformed into silly and cheery hours passing all too quickly by when Galatea was around.
After Galatea came Laomedon, the oldest boy. Andra rather envied him and Adonia for being the siblings that saw the most of their parents, but she found it hard to hold that against either of them. Laomedon was always seeking adventure and didn’t have to be asked twice to join in whatever plans Galatea had concocted for the day. As the eldest son, he took care to maintain a proper public image of dignity and sophistication, but behind closed doors with Andra and the rest, he was among the most raucous and vivacious of them all and flirted shamelessly with the maids. Whenever they held grand “balls” of their own, he danced with every sister, even convincing Adonia to leave the piano once or twice and waltz across the floor of their sitting room with him.
Born just before Andromache, Calligenia was the next sibling in line and was considered one of the great beauties of the family. She was more timid than Galatea and Laomedon, but she did not lack cheer and energy. Being one of the more thoughtful and articulate siblings, she and Galatea often wrote, choreographed, and staged plays and songs for the siblings to practice on slow days. Adonia could be persuaded to compose and play music on the piano, flute, harp, or cello, and Calligenia would write the lyrics and poetry, collaborating with Galatea to invent the characters and create their lines. Galatea was usually in charge of wardrobes and costume design since she had impeccable taste and an eye for fashion, and because Andra had a knack for sewing and embroidery, she, Adonia, and the younger sisters would turn Galatea’s sketches into actual costumes.
Arien was after Andromache, and she quite liked his diligent and caring nature. Because he was her first younger sibling, he received much of her doting attention, and she could be found entertaining him with toys, music, and books most of the time when he was a small child. He turned out to be very resourceful, the type of person who could make something out of nothing, and was typically tasked with creating the props and sets for Galatea and Calligenia’s theatrical endeavors. Although they did not need to go to all this trouble themselves to put on extravagant productions for their own entertainment as they had a multitude of servants and no shortage of coin to buy pretty trifles and other things, Galatea insisted they do as much as they could themselves, for it helped to pass the time and served as a glorious distraction from monotonous lessons and days confined to their chambers. Besides, there was nothing quite like sipping at steaming tea and enjoying delicate pastries while Adonia could be heard composing on piano and Andra was busying herself sewing or practicing lines and watching all going on around her in a flutter of business. Truly Galatea’s little distractions were the highlights of her days.
After Arien came Marpesia. With proper instruction, she developed one of the most beautiful yet haunting singing voices Andromache had ever heard, and she was as gentle and sweet as her voice. Also she was gifted with a pencil and brush, so in addition to being pestered into lead singing roles by Galatea, she painted backdrops on large canvases for some of their productions. Cyrus was the youngest boy, and his impulsivity paired horrifically with Laomedon’s rollicking about. It took all Andra and Adonia had to rein him in at times, but his enthusiasm was soon put to better use once he was old enough to participate in the siblings’ thespian enterprises. The youngest was Idalia, and being the last born, she was slightly more spoilt than the rest of them, though none of them minded terribly. Her spirit rivaled Galatea and Laomedon’s, but there was hardly anyone who could resist her innocent charm and dainty features. Since she dearly loved to dance, Galatea oft choreographed special scenes just for her in their plays.
As Andromache grew older, she was allowed to leave her quarters more often and join her parents at gatherings and tea. To maintain her and her sisters’ virtues, her parents kept them restricted to the manor except for attending parties, family, and events most of the time, but now that she was steadily approaching the year she came of age, it was time for her to be more visible in the public eye. Adonia had been the first of them to marry, wedding a high noble just a few months earlier, and Andra knew her parents had been seeking a suitable match for Laomedon for some time now. Someday it would be her turn, but for now she was content to live a life of freedom like Galatea before it was all stripped from her upon an engagement. She was not as outgoing as her older sister, but she did enjoy socializing and dancing at parties and sometimes a little harmless flirting. Had she known just how soon her status as an eligible, young lady would change, she might have allowed a gentleman or two to court her or stayed out much later into the night with Galatea and Calligenia.
When she was less than a decade until her coming of age, the Lytherion manor received a visitor. Andromache did not know him, but the servants dressed her and her unwed sisters into some of their finest gowns, washed and styled their hair elegantly, and adorned them in resplendent jewelry. Andromache, Galatea, Calligenia, Marpesia, and Idalia all gracefully glided down the staircase to meet the visitor, a Mr. Eitan as he was introduced. He stayed for dinner and dessert and afterwards was lead to the drawing room where Marpesia entertained him with a ballad while Andromache accompanied her on piano.

the_rabid_snail | 303 comments Andromache Lytherion Feridor - Dowager Queen - Part Two

History cont'd: Andra expected Eitan to be under her sister’s spell like all who heard her seemed to be, but she felt his eyes on her as her fingers gently stroked the keys to intertwine melodies and themes in bewitching harmony, lowering her lashes and praying that her cheeks did not blush and betray her. Andromache heard little about their mysterious visitor after he left, but one afternoon she was summoned to appear before her parents and wearing one of her delicate, summer gowns, curtsied before her strangely elated parents. They informed her that long ago, they had called on the old king and queen of the Court of Stars for help and that they had promised to return the favor someday. When the former monarchs passed away, their only son inherited the throne and now was searching for a suitable queen, a faery fair to gaze upon, gracious and pleasant in manner, and skilled in domestic arts. This king was the Mr. Eitan who had paid them a visit that one night, and to hold up their end of the bargain with his family, Andra’s parents had offered him his choice of their unwed daughters, though the king had insisted they not know whom he truly was when he first met them so that they would be sincere and not intimidated by his rank. He had sent a letter of his choice a few days later, and the past couple weeks had been spent negotiating the dowry and wedding and other such things. Andromache was astonished; she had not known Mr. Eitan was a king. Surely he had chosen Galatea or Calligenia. Galatea was such joyous company and lovely too, and Calligenia was the most beautiful of the sisters and could weave mere words into gold and treasures invaluable. To her surprise, her beaming mother told her that the king had chosen her to be his bride and queen. She nearly fainted at the news, so sudden and strong was her shock, but quickly she composed herself, thinking that now she must never lose her poise as a future queen. She had hoped for love and romance before engagement, but now that was forbidden. She must wait patiently and chastely until her one hundredth year when she would wed her fiancé, though naturally she must not expect to see him often as he had his own court to rule.
The years drudged on, and though sometimes things seemed unbearable, Andromache was thankful that she was afforded so much time to prepare herself for her future. Galatea and Calligenia authored plays as always to help pass the time, and Andromache participated when she wasn’t too preoccupied learning all about her new court. There were so many people and places to know and ever so much more history to memorize. Fortunately it was a Seelie court, so laws and social etiquette there were much the same as where she had spent her life so far. Finally, her wedding day arrived, and nervously but hopefully, she said her vows and sealed her fate with a kiss from her bridegroom.
She had never visited her new husband’s court before, but it was more wondrous than any dream Marpesia could have painted with her brush. True to its name, the Court of Stars was indeed among the stars. It was nestled high in the bluest and brightest of skies among enchanted clouds large enough to hold up entire cities. The main castle where she was to spend much of her time was magnificent and outwardly adorned with crystals, starlight, and glass. At night, the surrounding sky was pitch black but millions of stars in the distance bathed the court in a dim, heavenly glow. As a queen, Andromache never wanted for anything, and she quickly adapted to her new home, learning the layout of the castle and of the city sprawling out below. She made the acquaintances of countless lords, ladies, and advisors and was again infinitely grateful that she had been blessed with the luxury of time to learn all the various titles before she had been wed and crowned. In her husband, she was also fortunate. Eitan was attentive to her every want, and though he expected her to leave matters of state to him, he answered her questions patiently and sometimes listened to her counsel. Formality between them gave way to fondness, and eventually Andra fell deeply in love with him, although she was uncertain if he returned her feelings or not.
Harrowed by matters of state and politics as of late, Eitan dispatched a message to Andromache, telling her to join him in his private chambers for supper and dress accordingly. There had been little time to spend with her recently, but he relayed the hope that this would help make up for it in his message. Dinner was lovely, and the rest of the evening even lovelier. But when she awoke, Andromache was disappointed to find him gone and returned to her chambers for the day, dictating letters and planning the menu for a ball that was to be held at the castle next week. Little did she know that last night was the last time she would see her husband, perhaps forever.
When the news reached her of Eitan’s disappearance, discreet search parties were sent out as Andromache deemed it unwise to alert everyone that he was missing just yet, but as no sign of him surfaced, she had to formally declare him missing, her heart heavy. Once it became apparent that the search was ultimately futile and that Eitan might never return, Andromache, deeply sorrowful, became the Dowager Queen of the Court of Stars. She had no shortage of advisors and lords to help her since she had only been Queen a little over a year, and she kept her husband’s most trusted councilors by her side.
In the first year without Eitan, Andra’s eldest sister gave birth to her first child, a son named Cathair Haveritte, and Andromache was ever so pleased to attend the babe’s christening and to be his godmother alongside her younger brother Arien as godfather. Adonia and her husband, Nikolos, had spared no expense on the reception, and Andra had to admit that she enjoyed herself a little, though it did sting her that she had no children of her own yet. More good news followed that year. Laomedon married a high noble, Retsina, and Galatea married several months later to a slightly lower ranking noble, Petryn Meroue. Andromache attended both ceremonies, though it was a bit of a struggle to keep a cordial and joyful manner as remembrances of her own wedding and brief marriage threatened to overwhelm her. Still, she was happy that two more of her older siblings were now married and could build their own lives. Adonia bore a second child shortly after the Galatea’s wedding and named her daughter Lucine. Andromache dutifully appeared at her niece’s christening and reception and did the same for the births of Laomedon’s children, Andor and Leora, as well as Galatea’s daughter, Medore, over the next several years. Her yearning for children to call her own never ceased nor diminished, but she simply could not bear to marry another or take a lover even after these past, several years.
One afternoon as she was riding in a litter dressed in all her finery through the city on her way back to the castle, some of the townsfolk had organized a pageant in her honor as they always did on the day she had been coronated. The star of the performance was a young, fae girl with an enchanting singing voice that distantly reminded Andromache of her younger sister, Marpesia. Also with the girl was a boy who looked to be her brother and had a lovely singing voice as well. After the performance concluded, Andromache applauded and threw a handful of flowers and coins at the performers’ feet in gratitude and proceeded to dispatch a servant to find out who the two children were. When the servant returned, he informed her that they were orphans, and it so saddened Andra to think of the poor, motherless and fatherless children that she sent for them immediately, disembarking from her litter. She cared not that everyone could see her taking in interest in these children, and besides, the streets were so crowded with people wanting to glimpse her that it was noisy enough. Three children appeared before her; one of them apparently looked after the two that had performed for her. After asking their names and ages (to which they told her their names were Evangeline and Asa), she invited them to come live with her as her wards in the castle, her heart overflowing with a joy she had not known for a long time when they accepted. Delighted beyond words, Andromache declined to ride the rest of the way home in her litter and walked amidst her servants and guards with the two children, waving and smiling at all her subjects who had come out to see her and to celebrate the anniversary of her coronation.
Once she arrived home with her new wards, she ordered that chambers be made ready for them as fine as if they were her own children and set about finding a tutor to instruct them in etiquette and a seamstress to make them suitable clothing immediately. She adored doting on the two of them every chance she got, and though sometimes matters of state took up her time and attention, she always made sure to send them some trifle or other or to arrange an outing for them to make up for her absence. Even though they were not her own children, they were close enough, and they brought happiness and laughter back to her days at the castle.
Almost no one was happier for Princess Eilidh than Andromache when the terms of the treaty were agreed upon, though silently Andra wondered what would happen to her once the courts were united. The Princess Eilidh herself would be marrying the heir of the Unseelie Court, Prince Mihail, and now that two of the survivors of the bitter and bloody Larkspur-Veora feud were being wed, would she be next? Certainly as a Dowager Queen with no blood children of her own to inherit her throne she must be an enticing prospect to marry off to an Unseelie fae in order to help bind the courts closer together under the one High Court. She would have no choice if it was decided she was to wed again; to decline a marriage arranged by the High Court would be to risk war on her own court, and that was definitely out of the question. She must simply hope and pray that if she was to be forced into marrying again, her new husband would be kind to her and her wards.

Other Miscellaneous Information: Andromache is accomplished on the piano and violin, and she is excellent at sewing, embroidering, knitting, and other domestic arts.
She loves children more than anything in the world, never turns down the opportunity to dote on others' children, and always accepts when asked to be godmother to someone's child since she lacks her own.
Secretly she still mourns after her husband and is holding out hope that he is out there somewhere. She is determined to wait for him forever, though there is pressure on her to remarry and provide an heir to the throne.

Andra is approved and I love her! :) You can go ahead and make a folder for the Court of Stars now! It wouldn't actually be called that though. Each court has a home. For example, the Court of Mists lives in a place called 'Lilim' which means 'shade' in...I honestly can't remember what language. :D But the home of the court of stars would be something celestial sounding, I imagine.

Crabby Constance (crabbyconstance) | 128 comments Evangeline L. Herndon - Part One

Name: Evangeline Lois Herndon
Nicknames: Eva, Annie
Title: Lady
Apparent Age: 15
Actual Age: 81
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Heterosexual

Appearance: (view spoiler)
Evangeline certainly transformed into a beautiful young lady after being accepted as Andromache's ward. Before, her brown hair practically swam in oils and was riddled with tangles. Her legs were fragile and weak, her body frighteningly skinny, and her health deteriorating by the moment. But after years of love, Eva finally blossomed into a perhaps quaint, but very pretty girl. Her dark hair is naturally formed into grand, luxurious curls, often styled in various different ways, yet most often left down. Her face is oval and smooth, no longer tainted by an abundance of freckles or bruises. Thin eyebrows, perfectly shaped, arch over her bright, cerulean eyes. Her irises stand out boldly in contrast to her pale skin and dark locks. A few deeper blues intertwine themselves with the clear cerulean color, only adding to the complexity of her eyes. Dark circles are sometimes apparent beneath her eyes, though cosmetics are often used to cover them up, as well as add some rosiness to her lips and cheeks. Her nose is smooth and straight, eyelashes long and curly, and mouth full and usually covered with a light lipstick or balm.
Evangeline's frame is much more filled out than it used to be, though she still appears very fragile and dainty. She barely reaches 5'2, but her impeccable posture makes her seem taller. Her shoulders are quite narrow, as is her waist, and she hardly possesses any curves. Due to her skinny torso, her bosom is just slightly more exaggerated, though it's still hardly anything to boast about. Her elbows, collarbones, and shoulder blades do protrude quite a bit. Thankfully, it doesn't make her appear sick - rather just on the skinnier side.
Most of Evangeline's dresses flatter her elegant shoulders and tiny waist. By far, she looks best in white and yellow. Thus, the majority of the dresses she owns are, in fact, white or yellow. Her other favorite color to wear is dark blue, as it pairs nicely with her eyes. She still refuses to wear any sort of high heel, so she mostly wears slippers that match her dress, or occasionally platform shoes. If she leaves her hair down, she also adds a bow the color of her dress. As far as more casual wear, she dons a lot of sundresses - primarily yellow, white, dark blue, or gray. And like her brother Asa, she loves traipsing about in a pair of socks so she can slide around on the palace floors.

Fae Type: Elf
Court: Court of Stars
Thoughts on the Treaty: "I'm not the brightest or the most educated on politics, but the idea of peace is certainly very appealing. I know a lot of people want peace. And the goal of this treaty is to establish peace. I just hope it really does that because fighting is awful. And there are people suffering who need our help, so the sooner we have peace between the courts, the sooner we can focus on helping those people."

Powers: Evangeline has heightened senses and she can also shapeshift into a small, snowy owl.

Family:

Father: Zephaniah Herndon
Mother: Eleanor Herndon
Brother: Louis Rothenstein Herndon
Brother: Asa Nathaniel Herndon
Aunt: Clarinda Lovelace
Uncle: Vernon Lovelace
Cousin: Jesiah Lovelace

Biography: Annie grew up under her aunt and uncle's care - if care was even the right word. Aunt Clarinda spent most of her time reprimanding her for her hunger and calling her greedy. The family was quite poor, so understandably their wasn't much food to go around, but Clarinda always served her husband - the man with abusive tendencies and a bad temperament - significantly larger portions than she did anyone else. Sometimes her cousin Jesiah or her brothers insisted that she eat some of their dinner as well. Eventually, she became used to the sickening feel of hunger and stopped begging for more, but everyone noticed how increasingly skinny she looked over the months. Eva didn't grow much either. For a large portion of her childhood, she remained significantly shorter than even those who were younger than her. None of this was helped by her weak immune system. She had a tendency for sickness, so Louis, Asa, and Jesi spent blocks of time nursing her back to health. Of course, that was quite hard to do with no spare money for a doctor and not enough food. After spending so many days in bed, it was much harder for her to stand or walk for long periods of time. Asa and Jesi always forced her to take walks at least once a week to help her gain strength. Since she especially liked the sunsets, one of the two boys would help her outdoors for a stroll. She shared much of her mind with Asa and Jesi on those trips, and although it was sometimes difficult, she began welcoming them.
Although her sickly manner meant she spent dreadfully boring hours in her room, it also provided her with the opportunity to learn many things. Jesi found time to teach her to read. Once she knew the basics, she picked up every book her aunt and uncle possessed and struggled through the text. Clarinda also taught her to sew. Apparently, it was "time Eva learn to do something that helped out the family, rather than the family only helping Eva." Evangeline didn't mind learning sewing though. In fact, despite Clarinda's nagging and criticism, she very much enjoyed it. Clarinda would go out and purchase cheap fabrics, and have Evangeline transform those fabrics into clothing of some sort. She also once began knitting gloves and hats for everyone during an especially cold winter, though she only finished Clarinda's, Vernon's, and Jesi's before she fell ill and usually felt too exhausted to do anything but sleep. Finally, the last thing she learned was singing. She often hummed random tunes while she worked on sewing or knitting, and she eventually learned songs she heard neighbors singing. Singing became her new favorite pastime, and her voice seemed to soothe Clarinda's grouchiness. Unfortunately, it had no effect on Vernon. Still, she filled her room with her singing. Even when she felt desperately ill, she managed to sing anyways. It brought comfort to her. Asa picked up on the tunes from her, from the many hours he spent in her room. The two began pairing their voices together. Sometimes Vernon would march into her room and tell her he'd bind their mouths shut if they didn't stop "that racket." Eva and Asa just sang quieter so he couldn't hear them. Once, Evangeline asked about her parents. At the mention of Zephaniah and Eleanor, Clarinda seemed to actually have a heart. The two would sit by the fire after Vernon had gone to bed, Annie in the rocking chair, Clarinda on a stool, and Asa on the floor. Louis never came down, though Jesi told her that he sometimes sat listening at the top of the stairs. Clarinda spoke in a much gentler voice than usual, telling of her childhood memories with her sister, Eleanor, and then of when she met Zephaniah. The best memory Eva ever made in that household was when Clarinda said Eva was very similar to Eleanor - same beautiful voice, same temperament, same looks. Clarinda didn't know much about Zephaniah, a fact which saddened Eva and Asa quite a bit. Mainly, they realized they'd never know exactly what their father was like. The only thing Clarinda had to offer was that he had green eyes, brown hair, and was very brave and loyal. Whenever she spoke of him, a strange, soft expression came over her face, an expression that made Eva think perhaps Clarinda had had feelings for their father. Perhaps she did know more about Zephaniah, but just refused to share it. These late night talks ended when Vernon traipsed down the stairs one evening and yelled at Clarinda for not coming to bed. Eva never witnessed Clarinda's softer side again after that.
As they grew up, Vernon's temper became increasingly worse. Louis always sat at the doorstep to watch for when he returned home from work. Vernon shoved him to the ground many times for that, but Louis continued to do so anyway. And if his mood seemed especially foul, Louis would throw a pebble at the window, which meant Evangeline was supposed to go out the back alley and wait until one of the boys retrieved her. Louis would scold her for singing while she stood out there, but Eva did it to comfort herself. She feared for her brothers quite a bit, especially as Vernon became more and more violent. And Jesi had left home as soon as he became of age, which meant he was no longer around to help out. Every time Vernon became angry, she missed Jesi even more. He was the best at calming Vernon, and she'd really loved spending time with her cousin. Eva had been hiding in the alley the night that Vernon had lost his job. In his rage, he broke Asa's nose and gave Louis a gash on his forehead. After Vernon had fallen asleep, exhausted, her brothers stepped out into the alley with her. Louis announced that it'd be better if they left home. This frightened Evangeline even more, but Asa agreed. They packed their essential belongings in a bag - meaning that Eva was forced to leave her books.
Life became unpredictably harder. Since Louis couldn't find a job, they lived on the street. They never had the opportunity to bathe, they never had the cash to buy anything, and they never had more than one meal a day. Eva was used to hunger, but this was a new level. At one point, Louis visited Vernon's home to see how things were, and if they were still welcome. He returned in a daze, simply mumbling that there was nothing there for them. Eva was frightened to see Louis this way, so she decided not to ask any more about that, and she made Asa promise as well. The twins always stuck together, especially so when Louis went on trips. When she asked what he was looking for, he responded with, "a job and a home." He never found it. But while he searched, he left a knife with her and Asa, as well as all the food he could gather. Of course, by "gather," he really meant steal. Louis never earned anything honestly. When Eva was feeling up to it, she'd sing in the streets with Asa. They'd set a box at their feet for people to toss in coins. Sometimes they earned enough to purchase meat and bread or soup. Other times, they only received a coin or two. On the nights where they didn't sing or didn't gain enough, Asa would try to guilt trip storeowners or commoners into giving the children something small to eat. If that didn't work, he'd steal something. Eva tried to sing more and more so they could eat heartily, or maybe even buy fabric one day. She knew all three of them needed new clothing, and if they bought material she could make them new shirts and pants. Of course, that never really happened. The need to eat was always prioritized above the need for clothes.

Crabby Constance (crabbyconstance) | 128 comments Evangeline L. Herndon - Part Two

Biography cont'd: There was, however, a day when Louis returned with good news. He explained that it wasn't a house or a job, but a friend that would help them. It actually turned out to be a lot of friends. The head of this group of friends introduced himself as Forrest. He was a bit reclusive, but he really cared for the children. He refused to eat until all the others had eaten, refused new clothing, sometimes even refused to sleep. With the group's efforts - some thieving, some performing, some scamming, some scavenging - they actually brought in quite a bit of money, which they used to buy food. Eva and Asa did their part by continuing to sing, although one of the older boys - MacConnelly - often made her stay at their "home," when she felt sick. Their home was actually just an old abandoned building. Forrest figured they couldn't use it forever, seeing as at some point someone was bound to move in or tear it down. But for the moment, it provided good shelter. MacConnelly was very kind to her. On her birthday, he brought her a piece of cake. She had no idea where he got it from, but she and Asa split it. Forrest set up a warm fire, the group sang and played games. It was by far the best birthday she'd ever had. And at the end of the day, Louis bought her a new book to read. Or perhaps he stole it. She never bothered to ask. The next month, Forrest announced that he thought he'd found work for Evangeline and Asa. He mentioned that Rabble and Stinky - two boys in the group - put on shows and charged people for admission. They would sing in these performances. Even though Rabble's and Stinky's shows were small, Evangeline's voice still gained a nice reputation. At one point, Eva found work singing in the pageant that celebrated the queen's coronation. The queen had apparently noticed her and asked to see her and Asa. So, Forrest accompanied them to see the queen. She offered for them to be her wards. Evangeline was overwhelmed at the idea. She'd always admired what glimpses she'd had of the nobility, and the prospect of living in a palace, being fed three meals a day, dressing up and attending parties, getting to read any book she wanted - well, she was elated. Forrest didn't even have to convince her to accept, and Asa eagerly followed.
Thus began her life as Andromache's ward. It took a few years for her health to improve, but gradually she became less skinny and her illness came less often. During the time of adjustment from living on the streets to living as a noble, Asa was her closest confidante. Although they had separate chambers, sometimes they'd fall asleep talking in her room. For the first months, it took a lot of nagging to get her to eat three meals a day. And during the times that her health confined her to her bed, Asa had soup brought to her. While she ate, he read aloud to her and then sang songs with her. She had quite the trouble sleeping, so he'd usually pick a book and read to her until she drifted off. A doctor was even brought in to visit her, though he deemed the main source of her sickliness was just simply her malnourishment. But over time, she gained weight and strength, and soon her illnesses left altogether.
Tutors were brought in to educate both her and Asa. She loved sitting and absorbing the things she was taught. She especially loved learning about literature. However, her favorite thing was to find new songs. For her birthday one year, she had a piano brought into one of her rooms. An instructor spent time explaining how to play, and Eva picked up on it quickly. She spent most of her time reading, singing, or playing. She also knew of Andromache's fondness for the piano, and she was happy to share a common interest with her. She was so grateful for Andra's care for her and her brother.
She also learned etiquette, and shortly afterward began attending parties and balls. Evangeline loved to dress up. She relished the feel of a servant styling her hair, of looking through her closet for something beautiful to wear, of introducing herself as Lady Evangeline Herndon. Perhaps certain nobles didn't necessarily accept her, but generally they did. They were refined people, although still kind. Eva found the differences between the two worlds fascinating. And to think that most people only knew one world and not the other. Of course, sometimes Evangeline missed her family and her friends. So she'd have the servants pack large amounts of simple food - bread, meat, a bit of fruit - and venture out towards her former home on the streets. There, she'd visit Forrest, Louis, and all her other friends. MacConnelly always smiled when he saw her. Forrest and Louis mentioned that she appeared much healthier, and Asa agreed. The group was very excited that she and Asa could live with a noble. MacConnelly was a bit quieter. Every time, he told her that he missed having her around, although he knew it was best for her to be with Andromache. He also once told her that he thought she was beautiful even before she'd gone to live with Andra. If Louis noticed these comments, he never said anything to her. But Asa did. He always mentioned it after they'd visited. He pointed out that clearly MacConnelly really really liked her, though she often shrugged it off. Eva didn't know what to do about it. She'd always wanted to ask Andromache for advice, though she felt too shy. Instead, she ignored the situation, focusing on her interests, her lessons, and on attending parties. She's continually growing now. Her health only improves with each day, her intelligence expands, and her skills increase, all on account of the dowager queen's generosity.
Important Miscellaneous Information:
She and her brother Asa are wards of Andromache Feridor.

Crabby Constance (crabbyconstance) | 128 comments Name: Asa Nathaniel Herndon
Nicknames: Nat
Physical Age: 15
Actual Age: 81
Gender: Male
Title: Lord
Sexuality: Heterosexual

Appearance: (view spoiler)
Asa has a thick, chocolatey brown mane that often curls upwards when free of its gelled, slicked-back style. Due to the product he uses, his hair color usually darkens to a near black. However, no lock is out of place, he has no wisps of hair tickling his eyebrows, and the style accents his square forehead. His hair is often in need of a trim, though this is only noticeable when it starts creeping down his neck. Asa has a very solid, yet bony face. His brow bone is well defined, and the impeccable, arched shape of his eyebrows only adds to his well-groomed appearance. Below his brows are his studious, dark hazel eyes. In most lights, his irises appear to be the color of mud, with subtle hints of green mixed throughout. Yet when he wears anything green, his eyes transform into a lush, lively tree. Small, brown streaks connect the green outer rim to his pupils, as if his pupils were the roots of a plant. On his raised cheekbone rests a wide, white scar, stretching from below the center of his left eye to the outer corner. His nose seems just a little too narrow in contrast to the rest of his face, and the tip of it is sickeningly crooked from a break that never healed properly. His lips are full and poofy, shadowing another small white scar on his chin. His clean jaw comes to a rounded point, and leads into his thick, dark neck. Asa is unable to grow any facial hair whatsoever, a fact which never ceases to irritate him.
Asa's body has come a long way - from being severly malnourished, bony, and bruised, to his now strapping, muscled figure. Unfortunately, his height has not yet caught up, so he reaches a meager 5'3. His skin is very pale, but no longer constantly burnt to a crisp by the sun. Rather, his complexion, though ghostly white, is clear of freckles and sunburns. Bruises and scrapes no longer mar his body. Instead, all that remains of his former injuries are faded scars on his back, chest, arms, and knees.
Asa tends to wear baggy clothes. He loves wearing gray sweaters paired with loose, green, black, or brown trousers, and thick socks to warm his feet. However, at events, he dons a black suit, green or red waistcoat, and formal black shoes. Asa's clothes usually have as many pockets as possible, since he likes to be able to carry things around with him, and he'll even refuse to wear certain outfits unless they have at least three different pockets. Mostly though, he likes to dress casually, comfortably, and practically, though he does have fun wearing nicer suits and gelling his hair for parties and other fancier events.

Thoughts on the Treaty: "I just don't want more people to die. Whatever stops that is something I would support."

Family:

Father: Zephaniah Herndon
Mother: Eleanor Herndon
Brother: Louis Rothenstein Herndon
Sister: Evangeline Lois Herndon
Aunt: Clarinda Lovelace
Uncle: Vernon Lovelace
Cousin: Jesiah Lovelace

Biography: Asa never knew his parents very well, as his father was killed in war a few months before he was born, and his mother died of sickness shortly afterwards. Instead, his aunt Clarinda and Uncle Vernon assumed the role of his guardians, and their son Jesiah became like a brother to them. Yet, Vernon's home was not a pleasant one. He would work himself into fits of rage and often rough his son and nephews up. Eva was never around when those things happened, as Louis would always sneak her out into the alley and cover her up with a blanket. After a few years spent in Vernon's home, Jesiah became of age and left. He refused to tell anyone where he planned on going, though he told Louis he would return and contact him once Louis was of age. Louis did not plan on waiting here that long. Vernon's fits only came more often. After he broke Asa's nose, Louis packed up their things and snuck out in the middle of the night. At first, Louis tried to find work, though no one agreed to hire him. Louis was as skinny as a worm and young, too. He hated watching Eva cry herself to sleep out of hunger, so instead he took Asa with him and began stealing things. He'd snatch things from the outdoor markets, rummage through the trash for useful things, or even grab clothing from shops if Asa or Eva ever outgrew any of their outfits. Louis tried his best to care and provide for them, yet living on the streets was a constant struggle. Sometimes Louis got caught in the act of thievery and brought home no food. Eva fell ill quite often, yet they could never afford any medicine for her. So Louis continued to search for work, often leaving Eva and Asa alone for days. He made the two of them promise to look after each other, so when Eva was hungry, Asa would go steal things from outdoor vendors. Or if Asa was cold, Eva would find him a blanket and they'd huddle together. Eventually, they got used to carrying around a knife, which Louis gave to them in case anyone ever tried to harm them. Louis had believed he could care for them better than Vernon, yet he had failed time and time again. Once, he'd even spoken to Vernon and Clarinda. When he returned, he refused to talk about his visit there, simply saying that there wasn't a home for them there. So they continued to limp along until, of course, Louis met Forrest. Forrest welcomed the children into his group and fed them better than Louis ever did. Forrest also found occasional work for the kids. When nobility visited or traveled through the town, they'd organize special shows or pageants and charge people to watch. Eva often sang in these events, earning money to buy herself food or clothing. The group still had no shelter or real home, but they weren't going hungry for days either. Asa insisted on performing with Eva each time, as he didn't want to leave her on a stage by herself. Her legs were always weak so he put his arm around her to support her, and he sang with her. A few of the other children that Forrest watched out for taught the pair how to perform different tricks, dances, or acrobatics. Eva was hardly strong enough to do any of the latter two, but Asa decided to learn them while she watched. And meanwhile, Louis always hovered nearby in case they needed him. In one of these performances, the Dowager Queen attended. Eva and Asa both sang together. Afterwards, the queen asked to see them. Forrest insisted on accompanying them, mainly in place of Louis. Louis refused to go with his siblings to see her. When she asked if they'd like to be her wards, the two accepted. Forrest really wanted to see the two kids be well-cared for, so he pushed for them to go with her also.
Thus, Eva and Asa began their new life apart from Louis and Forrest and the rest of their companions. Eva often felt sick from the amount of food she consumed, but Asa enjoyed every bit. He constantly snacked and tried new foods. He also discovered the joy of dessert. In fact, Asa really thrived in Andromache's home. Once he was fed regularly for a while, his bones stopped jutting out and he grew stronger and even a little taller. He also continued to sing with Eva. Oftentimes, when she felt sick in her chambers, he'd sit next to her and sing or talk until she either fell asleep or felt better. After a year, even her health had greatly improved. Andromache had tutors brought in, which Evangeline loved. It was much easier for her since she was used to sitting for long periods of time and listening. Asa, however, found it extremely difficult. He was interested by the things they taught him, but he fidgeted and bounced constantly. It took him much longer to learn things that Eva had learned in a week. They were also introduced to parties and formal events. Both enjoyed dressing up, seeing the beautiful ballrooms, and dancing, though they each felt distinctly out of place among the other nobles. Many of the snobbier nobles refused to speak to them, but Asa and Eva formed some of their own friendships eventually. They also occasionally visited their old friends on the street. Eva would pack a large basket of food to take to Forrest, and the twins would spend an hour or two catching up with their brother and former companions. Louis always smiled when he noticed how healthy the two were, asking them to thank Andromache for him. However, though the offer stood, he never became her ward. Asa continually asked why, but Louis refused to explain. So despite missing their elder brother and urchin friends, Evangeline and Asa especially loved Andromache, and neither could express their gratitude for how much she cared for them.
Important Miscellaneous Information:
He and his twin sister Eva are wards of Andromache Feridor. They've been with her for about five years.

the_rabid_snail | 303 comments Full Name: Casimir Einar Loring
Nicknames: Cas
Apparent Age: 20
Actual Age: 294
Title: Mercenary
Gender: M
Sexuality: Heterosexual

Appearance: Casimir’s pale, blonde locks fall gracefully down his back to the bottom of his shoulder blades. His hair is stick straight and can’t hold a curl, so he typically ties it into a half-up half-down style with the up portion braided into a plait. His eyes are bright, emerald green with tiny flecks of amber and are framed by short, ebony lashes, and his skin is pale but rough and calloused, especially on his hands and feet. A stern, cruel look rests on his face most of the time, and he has a broad forehead, chiseled jaw, high, razor sharp cheekbones, a slightly Roman nose, arching, dirty blonde eyebrows, and thin, pale lips. A long, horizontal scar begins at the right corner of his forehead and slants down all the way to the center of his chin, and another, smaller scar lies just below his left eye, though it is only visible from close range. Other, faint scars mar his calloused knuckles and muscled arms and back, and he stands at roughly 6’1 with a broad frame and lengthy, strong limbs. A tattoo of a hawk ablaze with flames is on the back of his right shoulder, and a second tattoo on the inside of his left forearm depicts three, intertwined letters (K, S, and C) with a soaring eagle underneath and miniature stars forming an outer ring.
Normally he dresses in leather armor with a chest plate and shin and shoulder guards and dons a russet cloak lined with animal fur in colder weather. Long-sleeved shirts and trousers in dark colors are worn underneath his armor. Boots with fur lining and silver buckles or soft, noiseless moccasins cover his feet, and swords and poisoned daggers hang from his belt along with a length of rope, a “fun” flask (containing whiskey), canteen of water, and other, useful things. A bow and quiver of arrows are strapped to his back when he needs them, and russet gloves matching his cloak and also lined with animal fur keep his hands warm. When he has to blend in, he dresses as a commoner and wears simple, cotton or linen shirts in earth tones and dark trousers with his favorite pair of boots, though he does possess a few, finer things if he something requires him to look a little nicer. While he could easily afford more refined clothing, he prefers to dress simply and keep to himself, not wanting to draw any unwanted attention.

Court: Unseelie
Thoughts on the Treaty: "Oh, sure. A marriage between two brats born with silver spoons in their mouths will solve everything. Never mind that both courts have lived with opposing laws for centuries and that giving a few, elite people more power never backfires, right?"

Power(s): Casimir has enhanced senses of hearing, sight, smell, taste, balance, temperature, proprioception, and pain, and he has powers over darkness and fire. Additionally, he has enhanced strength and speed and can teleport.

Family:

Parents: Aloysius and Elda Loring
Sisters: Kendria and Solveig Loring

Biography: Born in the Unseelie Court, Casimir was the middle child to Aloysius and Elda Loring. His father had served honorably as a captain of the royal army but had retired once Casimir was born, and his mother was a talented seamstress for the royal family, though as she had grown up in a military family she could also wield a blade with moderate skill. The Loring family lived modestly but comfortably enough. Elda earned some money for all the gowns and other clothing items she made for the royal family, and Aloysius received a monthly pension for his long service to the court. Sometimes when revels or other such celebrations were upcoming, Casimir and his sisters had to assist their mother in order to get everything done in time, a task he dreaded more than almost anything. He could stitch a straight line thanks to his mother’s thorough lessons, but his skills did not extend farther past that. His preferred way of passing time was with his father, fencing in the old barn on their property.
His elder sister was Kendria, a beautiful but strong-willed woman. She could sew and embroider as well as their mother, but like Casimir, her favorite past time was learning how to fence or how to hunt in the nearby forest with their father. Oftentimes he and Kendria tagged along with their father on hunting expeditions to supplement their table, and both he and his sister became very good shots with a longbow after repeated ventures. There were no lectures in his household about proper behavior for ladies and gentlemen as they were commoners and Elda had grown up in similar fashion, and since they lived in a more rural area, civilized, social conventions were widely ignored.
His younger sister, Solveig (or Sol as they sometimes called her) followed eagerly in his footsteps. She was not as serene as Kendria and overflowing with youthful vigor, but it was put to good use in weeding the garden, churning butter, or skinning animals and plucking feathers from ducks and geese they killed for supper. When she was old enough, Cas and Kendria allowed her to go out hunting with them, though the first time she accidentally startled a buck, and Casimir harshly reprimanded her and had to send her home, sore over the loss of perfectly good venison. However, Solveig learned quickly and was soon put to work setting traps in the woods for smaller creatures.
Although they lived in a remote area, there was another family living only a couple of miles away, and sometimes they traded or ate supper together. The head of the family was a kindly fae named Merrill, and he and his wife, Ritza, had four children of their own, Jasper, Sezia, Tahti, and Lucan, and a nephew, Foxley. Jasper was an adept hunter, and sometimes he accompanied Casimir and Kendria into the forest. He was quiet and solemn, but when it was just the three of them, they could talk openly amongst themselves about anything and everything. Sezia kept mostly inside the house, content to knit, sew, cook, and clean, and Casimir did not usually interact much with her as she seemed very closed off for some reason. Tahti was a bit of a timid creature, but she enjoyed Casimir and Solveig’s company and often offered to let them ride her family’s horses. Hunting and trapping was not her favorite past time, but she was skilled at it, sometimes successful in pestering Jasper into bringing her along on their trips as she liked spending time with Casimir and his sisters. Lucan and Foxley were the chief troublemakers and were usually not more than a yard apart from each other. Most of the mischief they caused was Foxley’s idea, but Lucan was more than happy to be roped along into whatever ill-advised plan his cousin had come up with.
As they grew older, Casimir and Tahti spent more and more time together whether it be hunting just the two of them, racing her father’s horses along the riverbanks, or stargazing and inventing their own constellations. After years of treating her as his little sister, he realized his feelings had transformed into something else, and he was determined to court her. Delighted, Tahti accepted, and once he had courted and cared for her for two years, he decided to propose to her. He took her with him on a trip to the city to let her see the sights and so he could collect his father’s pension for the month, but when the sun began to set and he was about to ask for her hand, Tahti was snatched from his arms by a high-ranking fae who desired her for his mistress whether she was willing or not. Casimir did everything in his power to retrieve her, but he only came too close to getting himself killed. A few months later he bribed someone in the noble’s household and was told that the noble had recently tired of Tahti and dumped her on the streets with nothing but the clothes she was wearing the day she had been taken. For all his best efforts, Casimir couldn’t find her in the large city, and a growing hatred for the royalty and nobility festered in his heart.
He moved to the city in hopes of someday spotting her and became a mercenary, using his combat and hunting skills to execute his targets, though he would do nearly anything if the price was right. One day, a member of the Unseelie royal family, Amara, came to him with a proposition: find and kill the fae who had killed her husband and in return he would be rewarded well. It was not the most difficult task he had been assigned, though tracking the murderers took some time. Once he found them, he made quick work of them and as Amara had requested, cut out their hearts and returned them to her in an oakwood box. After that, his reputation grew, and work was even easier to find. He purchased a few, small homes in various parts of the city with the earnings he’d saved and stockpiled each with preserved foods, weapons, and medical supplies. Sometimes, he still roams the streets at night under the light of the moon, searching for a glimpse of his precious beam of starlight, Tahti, though doubtless she would think him a monster if she saw him now.

Important Miscellaneous Information: Casimir is fond of stargazing and hunting, can track people and animals exceptionally well, is terrifyingly good at manipulating others, and hates royalty, nobility, and anyone with power whether they abuse it or not.
