Etta.n | 93 comments It was YA that I read around 2005, following kids who don't know in the beginning that they're aliens. Their parents landed on Earth and use drugs to keep themselves & their kids in human-form, under the guise of it being medication for a 'genetic blood disease.' Then when the kids find out there's a faction fight over control of weapons, some want to wage war/revenge on humans who've wronged them, etc.

Etta.n | 93 comments At the end, the humans have also learned about the aliens' origins and real forms, and some of the kids are going as part of a delegation to negotiate with human leaders about resettling on earth.

I added a spoiler alert to the topic header/title.

Etta.n | 93 comments In between they're fighting over territory / control of the site where the original spaceships crash-landed? YA, not that obscure I don't think...

A long shot - Achilles by Greg Boose? (mentions "a relatively new blood disease called Sepsis Bimorphyria, or Sepsis B.")

(Google search - site:www.goodreads.com "young adult" "science fiction" aliens drug "blood disease")
