I'm only 13% of the way done with the book but I'm already surprised at some differences in the book compared to the miniseries or Kubrick film. Kubrick's film made The Shining a haunted house tale basically. This novel is going with something deeper mentally going on I think.

What differences between versions and adaptions are you seeing?

So I have not seen the movie in forever. Of cpourse when I got back from a job site it was on AMC but already missed first half. Maybe next time

Anna (ovejita324) *gulp* I never saw the movie. *averts eye contact*

Anna (ovejita324) I have read SK before but it's been ages. I like how he writes and goes off on these old memories and thought processes of the characters. and then before i know it, I'm left wondering where was i in the story, and a couple of lines later he brings me back to the present. SK is a master at plunging the reader into the story.

Just starting the second section when they arrive at the Overlook. The mental, psychological elements are what intrigue me at this point. Jack's anger issues. Danny's dreams, invisible friend etc.

I never have either!

Andrew Smith (acereidsmithwarzone24) | 4 comments I haven't either, but did hear that there were twins in this. After reading this earlier this year... still haven't found them.

Anna (ovejita324) I have no idea how to respond to people's comments so I will just name them. @Amanda, well at least i dont feel all alone. @andrew, I do remember a set of twins that were mentioned in the book. Remember the previous family that stayed at the hotel? Didn't the dad shoot the mom and kill his twin girls?

I do remember the twins mentioned earlier as part of the past scandals

Almost halfway through and the twins still aren't there.

But the topiaries? *shudders*

Andrew Smith (acereidsmithwarzone24) | 4 comments I do remember the story now, thanks.
