Heir of Fire
discussion
Rowan and Aelin

you understand the struggle.

Aye. The release of Queen of Shadows is near, though. Closer than it has ever been. :)
Sarah J. Maas's confirmation of Rowan having significant page time is enough to keep us teeming on the edge of our seats.
I'm currently re-reading Heir of Fire. Celaena's state at the beginning of the book is heartbreaking. She was carrying the weight of the world on her shoulders, and her dynamics with Rowan at the start was antagonistic at best.
But she opened up to him, and he to her. They grew together. I suspect that it is only the beginning, and they have much ground to cover together.

OMG I can see that song fitting them perfectly. I'm like playing the scenes out of my head with the song lol... x'D

I know, right!!! I just couldn't stop listening to it, I just kept goining back to fan girl mode and start imagining the possibilities!!!

Never! News flash, fae can have more than one mate! Also Aedion would not be a good king because he is to obsessed about Aelin! A kings job is to take care of the people. May I mention that Rowan has a good balance of both traits. Sorry but I doubt my opinion of Rowan shall ever change. Though I respect the fact that you work hard for your shipping and is not a choalina fan. I'm sorry Shan but this shipping is life and I hope you join the light. Leave the darkness come to the welcoming rowan+aelin shipping light

Your a hard core shipper like me, who wouldn't want to be your friend?

your and rowan+aelin love yet choalina hate rant touched my fan girl heart. THANK YOU

I love your hate for choalina and the fact that you ship aelin+rowan but why the aedion thing?! Don't go to the dark side the light is waiting for you.

ummm...if aedion was her mate wouldn't they have felt it earlier. They were together for years, rowan and aelin felt a spark in a couple of months even with that heartache wall, so no.

Giirl I'll always side with you unless Rowan does something so horrible that it makes me cringe in fear. Which I doubt he would, because Rowan is too smexy to make mistakes. Rowan x Aelin for life... <3

On another interesting note, Sarah was requested by a fan to sort her characters in Harry Potter houses - and Celaena and Rowan are both in Gryffindor. :)

I ship it too. Aelin+Rowan for life

I feel the same way!!! Sarah is either going to shatter my heart like plates at a greek party or she is going to make me one of the happiest people on earth. I hope she chooses the second option.

I was looking around Sarah J. Maas's Pinterest and noticed a lot of Rowan pins where he's got a hooded tunic getup and armed with arrows. In many other pins, he's wearing heavy armor as well as a mask. At least two pins depict him with a wyvern, one of them where he's in a mid-air flip. Strong hints of him being in battle. More than anything for Rowan, I really hope he survives the series. <3

I was ..."
you got that right. If Rowan died I would die with him.

speak the truth!!!

I love your comment!!! People need to understand that if a guy can't accept you for who you are while not being a total stalker who hasn't seen a girl in years(cough....sorry Aedion....cough)than you have placed yourself on my NO I DON'T WANT YOU list. So thank you for explaining the great truth to those in the dark. I'm sorry but this OTP is my life. I shall die protecting my ship.

- Choal and Aelin (just typing it makes me have a gag reflex/no offence to the shippers just an opinion)
-Aedion and Aelin (they haven't seen each other in years!)
-Dorian and Aelin (I can see where your coming from)
-Rowan and Aelin (My baby!!!!People choose this magnificent couple please!)
My opinions are plastered all over the post but I can't help it. Vote with your opinion! But beware,I always try to convert people to my shipping!

My Follow up...shall we call it my VP choice (or as my brother-in-law would say 1st place loser) is:
Dorian & Aelin.

I hope she never has to put us in that situation.

This is a sign!!!!Rowan is the only dude who can accept aelin for who she is without being a total stoker! There is no civilized debate Sarah only the fact that AELIN+ROWAN is real.

I'll always ship Aelin x Rowan together they so fine for each other... <3

That's right!!!!!! Rowan and Aelin forever!!!!

Just a feeling.
Which, I think, is kinda terrible. I had an issue with him NOT accepting her as who she is. In the previous book, not only did he break her heart, but also stay away from her because magic/fae/enemy etc. He's faaar too loyal and used to the no magic court and life.
He supports Dorian and is loyal to him beyond anyone else.
From what I understood (or how I read), Chaol only began to accept her and see her after Dorian's little speech to pick a side.
Chaol would have to go through some serious character development. Not to mention, it would be a little out of character for him to FULLY accept Aelin in a book or so.
And idk. He kinda seems weak.
Emotionally.
Captain of the guard squeamish when it comes to killing?
Aelin has killed and will kill many more. I think she needs someone to balance that and to understand her.
AhemROWANahem.
Dorian def sailed off.
He and Aelin will prolly remain friends and keep their kingdoms close.
Now as for Rowan.
TRUE that he already had a mate.
And that there was really nothing steamy between them in this book.
But judging by his actions alone... I think he does or is starting to love her.
He is loyal to her.
He does complement her in many beautiful ways.
He does challenger her and care for her.
Oh, oh!
And that one scene. Where Aelin had issues with female demi-fae checking out Rowan. The possessiveness....
I'M NOT SAYING THAT THAT'S SOMETHING BUT THATS SOMETHING
sdfjgnk
Personally, I think that true/real (whatever ya wanna call it) love begins with loyalty and friendship.
Chaol has never exactly put her first.
He never really will. It will always be Dorian or his country.
Again, there was nothing steamy between Aelin and Rowan, seriously. Look at how they talk to each other. The things they notice about each other. Their closeness.
Aelin definitely grew in this book.
She reminded me of a horny teen. She got Dorian, kissed him, then went off to Choal. Now, I'm not denying that she have ever loved him. She did. But that was Celaena. Not Aelin.
Not that I had an issue with that. I LOVED how she didn't just love one person, but many. She definitely grew throughout the books; from a lost teen girl, to a killer queen. Literally.
Idk. I really wish it would be Rowan.
But if it's Choal... whatever.
Life will go on.
Maybe third times the charm?
Longish!
Sorry!
Just finished the book!
Ps:
Who did Aelin tell her life story to??
Rowan.
Because she KNEW he would understand and accept her.
I think that if she told Chaol. He'd only sympathise, but not fully understand what she went though and why she couldn't embrace her true identity, other than for obvious reasons.
Basically: Aelin needs someone who is not only supportive and understanding, but someone who matches her in strength, emotion, and mind,
Lastly:
Rowan and Manon? Another feeling.... but I'm reallllllyyyy hoping that it won't be the case.
However, those two would kick such ass.

but she wasn't alone!!!! She felt support from Rowan through every problem she faced and she was grateful for it. She even admitted Rowan was the first dude she could ever open so much too and she gets jealous when he is with other females. These are all signs that she has feelings for him and he is boyfriend quality. Thank you for your opinion but this is my OTP and I've got to preach!

Preach, preach, preach the truth girl omen lol... x'D

Aside from the face value of Celaena's conscious thoughts, much has transpired between Aelin and Ronan in the third installment. It was a build-up, leading them to something more than where they began. Neither Ronan and Aelin are entirely aware yet. We have yet to see Ronan's POV in Queen of Shadows, which in itself will be a delight.
All this speculation is certainly exciting to partake in! It's marvelous that we are merely halfway through this six-book journey, and to think there is much more that will happen to our beloved characters.
Regarding Rowan's storyline, it was pleasant news when Sarah J. Maas mentioned that it's possible for fae to have more than one mate.
Beyond that, we must remember that mate is not synonymous with carranaam, which Aelin and Rowan are. That itself is phenomenal.
Regardless, it is a given that Rowan will play a pivotal role in Celaena's endeavors to turn the tide. By the end of the Throne of Glass series, it is doubtless that he will go down as an unforgettable warrior.
