Tony Talbot Looks like King is doing another collection of short stories:

"And in the fall of 2015 there will be a new collection of stories called The Bazaar of Bad Dreams, which'll collect about 20 short tales. It should be a pretty fat book."

Source: http://www.torontosun.com/2014/11/06/...

Looking forward to those!

Dan (dan2345) | 170 comments Oh I love S Stephen King's short stories. Right now I'm reading Nightmares and Dreamscapes. Can't wait for this new anthology.

Kandice | 4387 comments I love his short story books as well and cannot count the times I grab one off the shelf at random and just read one or two as palate cleansers after something heavy. He really knows how to pack a punch into limited space.

Tony Talbot My favourites are his short stories as well. I still get a chill reading "Strawberry Spring" with its killer(!) last line.

"Short stories are like a kiss in the dark from a stranger"

Doreen Petersen | 252 comments I've recently added this to my ever increasing to-read list and soo looking forward to it!

José (lectorconstante19) Awesome! I had no idea this was coming, really looking forward to it.

Kandice | 4387 comments They're releasing one of the stories early, Drunken Fireworks, on June 30th.

Tony Talbot The only one I've read is UR.

That one and Batman and Robin have an altercation got my attention, can't wait to read them!

Tony, What did you think of UR?

message 13: by Tony (last edited Apr 26, 2015 05:25AM) (new) - rated it 3 stars

Tony Talbot UR wasn't one of his best stories...seemed a little confused and convoluted.

The format I read it in and the circumstances weren't the best though and I'd like to read it again to get a better grip on it.

Erin (ems84) | 2659 comments I agree, I like it.

Michelle | 7 comments Love it!

Kandice | 4387 comments I really disliked the cover for Full Dark, No Stars when it was first revealed because it didn't look like a Stephen King book. Now I love it.

This one also looks decidely un-Stephen King-ish, but I like it anyway.

message 19: by Tony (new) - rated it 3 stars

Tony Talbot The cover kinda freaks me out. Maybe that's a Good Thing? :-)

Kandice | 4387 comments I just re-read The Little Sisters of Eluria and came across the phrase "tent of bad dreams". Germ of a thought?

Kandice | 4387 comments I keep looking at this cover, which I love. My one exception is the red lettering. I do NOT like that. I thought purple was supposed to sell horror?!

I think the lovely aqua, turquoise or whatever you call that color, would have been better carried into the font.

Victor So In the Tall Grass won't be included in the collection? That's really disappointing.

Looks like this one is the cover for the UK edition:

Kandice | 4387 comments I love that cover! As visually interesting as I find the American cover, I think I prefer the UK edition.

Thanks, Angie!

Kandice | 4387 comments Stuart wrote: "Why put in Mile 81, Blockade Billy etc when he has already brought them out as an ebook?"

Some people don't "do" ebooks and feel cheated of the opportunity to read them.

Stuart Vernon | 6 comments I'll still buy it like lol

I'm glad that "Under the Weather" is in there. I've been bugged about that only being in the paperback of Full Dark No Stars up until now.

Kandice | 4387 comments Chris wrote: "I'm glad that "Under the Weather" is in there. I've been bugged about that only being in the paperback of Full Dark No Stars up until now."

Me too! I don't generally buy paperbacks of his so had to check it out of the library.

Gavin (thewalkingdude) | 244 comments Why does the UK always get the better covers of SK books? :(

Kandice | 4387 comments This particular one I prefer the UK cover, but I don't always.

Kandice | 4387 comments I hate the red on the US version. It's jarring and doesn't seem to belong. I love the "head" image, but that red...blech!

Kandice | 4387 comments It's not the red on it's own, it's the red on top of the lovely relief of a turquoise image.

Yes, the artwork on that of the boy and tiger? That's beautiful..."

Yes, and the keyhole on fire is so much more DT-related and tr00. I gave my american version away and ordered the british one. Haha.

Kandice | 4387 comments I loved that cover painting(US version), BUT it really didn't go with the "feel" of the rest of the series. Maybe that was on purpose?

Could be, since what was under the cover didn't either. Hehe

Kandice | 4387 comments Good pull Chris!!!!

You don't have to read it to know that a keyhole (especially such one) is DT-related.

But I give you the 11/22/63 cover - the american one beats the hell out of the british one.

message 44: by Janith (new)

Janith Pathirage (pathirage) His short story collections appear to be much better than his novels. They have better endings. I'm currently reading Nightmares and Dreamscapes , haven't found a single disappointing story.

You should see the ones for Skeleton Crew, Christine, Pet Semetary and Eyes of the Dragon. They may or may not be to your taste, but I find those one's equally if not more appealing than the U.S. editions. That's just my opinion though. I only mention them so you may appreciate the artwork on those ones if you choose to check them out and have never seen them before.

I really like that UK version myself. I think it's kind of neat.. I don't know the mixture of colors is kind of creepy.

message 47: by Beth (new) - rated it 3 stars

Beth (bethpecoraro) | 6 comments I'm looking forward to starting this today. But I am just a little disappointed that I've already read four of the stories.

Matthew (funkygman007) | 199 comments Just started reading the other day and, Oh, man! Batman and Robin have an Altercation has to be in my top 5 favorite King short stories.

Amanda (queenjaneapproximately) Really enjoying this! I love King's short stories. I was so excited for Bad Little Kid, since he had previously only published it in German. I am almost finished the collection, reading Obits right now.

Squire (srboone) | 92 comments I'd read four of the tales in BoBD (I purposefully didn't read a lot of them in their original publications).

I really enjoyed this collection. King has become a great observer of humanity's little horrors that get taken for granted (that is, when he's not writing banal mystery thrillers). The short story format is perfect for the writer King has evolved into. And while I thought "Ur" was one of the weaker entries in the book, his writing as Ernest Hemingway is mesmerizing:

“A man’s life was five dogs long, Cortland believed. The first was the one that taught you. The second was the one you taught. The third and fourth were the ones you worked. The last was the one that outlived you. That was the winter dog. Cortland’s winter dog had no name. He thought of it only as the scarecrow dog…”

I'd like to read this work.
