What allusions have you picked up on in ASOUE?

Someday someone should write a scholarly analysis of the series. There is a lot going on underneath the surface of it, especially when you consider the last book.

Prufrock Prep- reference to Eliot's 'Lovesong of J Alfred Prufrock

Mr Poe and his children Edgar and Allen.. Or is it Eddie and Al? (also the crow village could be a reference to Poe's The Raven)

The name Baudelaire is I'm guessing a reference to the poet Charles Baudelaire?

I'm sure there are heaps more, those are just a few off the top of my head :-)

Also the Quagmires seem to be named after Isadora Duncan, a famous ballerina.

I spotted a dig at Virginia Woolf in The Reptile Room and at her book Mrs. Dalloway in The Hostile Hospital.
The quotes are: “Never, under any circumstances, let the Virginian wolfsnake near a typewriter.”
and
"...and they visited Clarissa Dalloway, who did not seem to have anything wrong with her but was staring sadly out the window of room 1308..."
