And as I opened the book on Christmas, I was confused, why would my mom get me a book about ... on Christmas of all days. You would you to if got this book on Christmas, so I left it on my shelf for three months, It resting on my shelf until one day I picked it up and read the first chapter, with such a quotable line as “What happened before all this, what happened before the beginning, Astrophysicists have no idea” (pg.32). I was hooked, this was the line, it’s just straight-up “we don’t know” and I loved that, that was the line that got me hooked, and throughout the book you have these quips, letting Neil DeGrasse Tyson’s personality really show through this mostly informational book, some of these lines include... “For many, the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements is a forgotten oddity--a chart of boxes filled with mysterious, cryptic letters last encountered on the wall of high school chemistry class” (pg. 116). I love the skill of being able to add your own flair to an informational book, and the way he does it is unique, from my experience to only him, It’s really fun, It’s like a Bill Nye show in book form, I learned without even thinking I’m learning, like when he says “Then they will surely interpret these biomarkers as convincing evidence for the absence of intelligent life on Earth, (About aliens)” (pg. 192) without even thinking about it to hard and I have to commend him on this.
