If it's a Great Dane, maybe Pinkerton. Pinkerton, Behave! is the first book.Or something to do with Marmaduke.
No its neither of those two books... I know he was a larger dog... maybe he wasn't a great dane… :/ mmm He def was a larger dog though

I keep thinking of comic strip dogs like Howard Huge and another giant dog that caused problems for his owners, but I can't recall the name of that one. Howard Huge was released as a book, but not for kids.Beethoven (of movie fame) was also popular in the '90s.
Cynthia Rylant has a series of books about a boy and his mastiff: https://www.goodreads.com/series/5965...

When I was learning to read, my mom had a series that featured a young man and his dog (I believe it was a great dane but might have been another large dog breed like a mastiff or st Bernard and no it is not clifford). I know its a series and the dog kept getting his owner ( believe it was a boy or man) in trouble. I believe it was a half picture/ half regular book
