Well, my 4th year here (already? oh, how time flies!)...and my book mountains are not getting smaller (well, they are, but the decline is sluggish). I don't know how my 2020 will be, maybe there will be a change of pace, maybe not, I'm waiting for a few things, so I don't know how much reading time I'll have. Still, I'll try to make it to Kilimanjaro as always!
I'm back again to track the physical books that will go off my shelves in 2020. I counted 48 books on one of the shelves so if I can summit Mt. Ararat, I'll have an empty space. Of course, that assumes that I don't buy any books in 2020....
This will be my 6th year joining this challenge. I'm hoping 2020 is the year I make a good dent in my owned books, particularly in print and audio. With over 1,000 books owned and unread I have plenty to choose from, yet somehow that doesn't stop me from looking at all the new books and getting those too.Happy reading to everyone tackling those mountains of books!

So glad you keep climbing with me!
So glad you keep climbing with me!
This is my third year in Mount TBR. I'm looking forward to using this as motivation to get through my backlog in the midst of raising a mess of boys. It worked this year! I'll probably aim for an ideal number of total books, as I also have some writing goals for next year too (eep!).
I have been climbing since 2014 and have found this group really motivates me to pause before my own books & consider before heading to the library (or bookstore). It's still a struggle to end the year with a smaller backlog than I start with!

Welcome, Ziggy! So glad you'll be joining us this year.

Yay! Thanks for running this again in 2020, Bev!This will be my 3rd year participating, and it's been a great motivation in making a dent in the pile of owned but unread pile!
I will reach Mt Blanc (24 books) in 2019, so I'll aim for that level again in 2020!
Woohoo! I will be back for the fourth time, decimating unread books on my physical shelves and Kindle as usual. Again, I will be pledging 75 books (out of an annual reading goal of 100) to leave some room for new acquisitions and re-reads. Looking forward to climbing again with you, and as always, thanks so much for hosting this challenge, Bev :)
Hi, I'm Linda from Ohio and I've finally found a mountain I can climb. I used to be part of a group that had an annual challenge to read 12 books that you owned. I still do that on my own and this will allow me to count all the other books I read that I own!

Glad you'll be back! As long as I am unable to control my book-buying habit, I'll be leading the charge up Mount TBR :-)

Hi my name is Hailee and this is my second time attempting this challenge (My first climb was in 2018). Like many here I buy way too many books considering I already own hundreds of unread books. Hopefully I'll be able to cut down on that number this coming year.
I'm pretty sure I'm going to start at Mount Blanc but I haven't fully decided yet.
Good luck to everyone participating in 2020.

Hi! My name is Tia and I have over 1000 unread books (about 900 physical and 100 ebooks). This is my first time to join the challenge and I’m hopeful that it is going to help me get through some of these books that I’ve owned for years. I’m glad to have found the group.

Hi everyone! I'm back for year 4, since I've never met my actual goal of more books out than in. I'm considering strategies for not getting distracted, so if anyone has tips on that I'll gladly accept them. And Margaret, I also plan to read Don Quixote next year; I'd be happy to buddy read it with you if you're interested!
Hello everyone! Liz from Ohio here, first year tackling this challenge. My goal is ambitious, I want to tackle Mt. Kilimanjaro and read 60 owned books. A side goal is to not purchase any new books until I meet my goal, currently have over 300 owned, unread, physical books. Now if someone wants to buy or gift me some more books that is a whole other story.

2020 will be my 4th year in the challenge!I have an e-book problem--instead of reading my physical books, I keep reading e-books so my physical books stay as they are. Or I read the books I've purchased recently, which doesn't count for the challenge. So, hopefully, 2019 will be the first year I actually complete a mountain (I have 1 book left for Pike's Peak!).
I won't be at home at the first several months of 2020 but I plan on using the library to read some of the books I already own and knock them down from the TBR pile.
Oh, in 2020 I'd like to go for Mount Blanc.

Hi! This is my first time with this challenge! I'm really looking forward to actually getting into my TBR pile I keep putting off. Hopefully the journey to Mount Olympus gives me the motivation I need!

Hi! Welcome to the challenge and good luck with Mount Olympus.
Hi AllFirst timer in the group and starting small.
My TBR is huge and the bookshelves are over-stacked but I tend to read on a whim and practically live at the library so might read more over on the virtual climb.
Need to have a think about how I'll start but when I do start here's my link https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Hi Kim! Glad you'll be joining us in 2020!
I have TBR books in a special armoire and need to read some in order to accommodate more, LOL. I'm looking forward to joining this group for the TBR Reading Challenge 2020. :)
I’m Traci and I’ve just found your challenge. I’m excited to use it to inspire me to read books I’ve accumulated. I must admit I am a book hoarder. I could spend hours in bookstores and the library. Sometimes I think I like accumulating them as much or more than reading the booksWell looking forward to incorporating this challenge in with others for 2020 to clear out some of our household clutter
Hello. My name is Mariola from New Mexico. I plan to read enough to empty a box or two of to be read books I have surrounding my house. In 2019, I surpassed my reading goal of 250 and am currently at 280. I need to do this well again.

Whelp, here I am, trying to scale my mountain of books again. This is my...fifth year, I think? I've slowed down a lot in my reading for 2019, so I hope I can pick up the pace in 2020. :)
Back for the 3rd year. I haven't made it up Pike's Peak yet... I need to this year, I have so many good books at home!

Welcome back! I keep slowing down as well. Hope we both can move a little faster in 2020.

I dont imagine that I'll ever clear my TBR (or even significantly reduce it, if I'm honest), but I did make it up Pike's peak this year and I feel a little better about my TBR because of it. So I'm definitely climbing again in 2020 and this time I have my eye on the peak of Mount Blanc.

Well, at this point...I’m not stopping! I already have my messy piles and disorderly digital ready for the new year, even as I storm towards the end of *this* year.

Glad you'll still be climbing with us!
Hello, I'm Rachael. I have so many books to read and not enough space on my shelves! This will be my first year doing Mount TBR. Even though my overall goal for 2020 is going to be 80 books, I've decided to start my climb at Mount Vancouver (36 books) to allow for new books and rereads (I know the rules state rereads are allowed but personally I'm not going to count them here if that's okay). I'll see how I get on through the year and I may make it up an even higher peak.

So, once again, I plan to concentrate on reading primarily from my own books in the coming year. Perhaps this year I will actually plant a flag on Mount Olympus...but my declared goal will remain Mount Everest. Please join me in knocking out some of those books that have been waiting for attention for weeks...months...even years
I have revised a couple of the rules--so be sure to check them over carefully. And, please, introduce yourself--if only to chime in with me to say "I'm a book-a-holic and I really need to read these books I keep accumulating!"
