Eileen | 37 comments Hi, I'm Eileen. This is my 3rd year, but I skipped a year or two. I'm scaling Pike's Peak because although I have the best of intentions to dive into my enormous TBR pile, all the shiny new books catch my attention and...Well, I'm sure all y'all know! We shall see how this year progresses!

Charlotte Igelkott | 6 comments Hello!
My name is Charlotte and this is my first time climbing. I wouldn't necessarily say I own too many unread books but some of them have been sitting on my shelf for a long time now, so I've been looking for a good shelfwarmer challenge. I'm still trying to choose between Pike's Peak with added conditions and straight up Mont Blanc so it might take me a few days to set up my challenge, but I'll definitely join you!
Happy new reading year to all of you!

Victoria (crushedbymytbr) Back for second year. Last year I summited many peaks, finally planting my flag on Mt Kilimanjaro.

This year I’m going straight for Mount Vancouver

Smaller goal because I’m hoping to get a new job this year with better, but more, hours (currently work evenings) and I really need to finish some series, which will require me to buy/borrow books.

I will also keep a better eye on how many books I'm buying, because they far outstripped my reading and unhauling.

message 104: by Penny (new)

Penny | 1 comments Found this following an online search for reading challenges. Looking forward to finding motivation to read books I already own, rather than just buying more to add to my TBR pile!
I'm not so good at the social media side but will try my best to keep uptodate here.

Chanel This is my second year participating in the Mount TBR challenge. I hoping to conquer Mt. Ararat! Fingers crossed!

Abi (booksa144) | 13 comments Hello! This is my third year participating, and thanks to a library book sale back in October and Christmas, I've received just enough books to participate in Pike's Peak this year. The last two years, I finished Pike's Peak and all but one or two books of Mount Blanc, so hopefully I can echo some of that success. Looking forward to reading with you all!

Marie (marie2) | 71 comments Hello everyone! This will be my second year to join the Mount TBR Climb and look forward to a climb to Pike's Peak for 2020. Although, I was able to climb to Mt. Kilimanjaro in 2019, I am curbing my expectations for this year. My bookshelves include some large volumes which are calling my name and I just may even read some books I don't own and commit to the Virtual Mount TBR as well. In any case, I know this will be a fun experience! Thank you Bev for hosting this super reading challenge!

Laurel Ragland | 22 comments First time here and I am so glad to have found this challenge. I have done several reading challenges over the past few years but I always needed to get a new books or check one out. Meanwhile my list of Want to Read keeps growing. Going for Pikes Peak but I am pretty sure I can get higher!

Amy | 26 comments It’s my fourth year on the Mount TBR. 2019 was a distracting year so I only managed about half of what I had accomplished in 2018. I’ve decided to start on Mount Blanc and then see how this goes. Good Luck everyone and Happy Reading!

message 110: by Nell (last edited Jan 02, 2020 02:21AM) (new)

Nell I have joined the challenge again this year. My mountain climbing goal is Mt. Vancouver - 36 books. My TBR has grown each year. So this year I intend to reverse the ratio of books acquired: books read. Just over half the books that I read in 2019 counted for this challenge. For 2020, 75% of books that I read will count for this challenge.

Bethanie (bookbathbrew) | 3 comments This is going to be my first year doing this challenge. I’m aiming for El Toro.
My goodreads challenge for the year is 150 books so that’s half of them from my TBR.

Tess Ayala Diaz (tessandbooks) | 1 comments .Hi I'm Tess from México, I'm aiming fro Mount Blanc. I hope I can get down some books, because I love re reading, and I really want to finish some series. And good luck to everyone

Susan | 29 comments I’m glad to be climbing with you this year. It’s my fifth time (gulp) and there are still lots of TBR books waiting. (Funny how that happens). El Toro is my destination! Onward and upward. One book read so far and 74 more to go.

Kirkykoo79 | 11 comments Hi, I’m Kirstin from the UK and this is my first climb. I’m planning to use the 12 books I’m reading for another challenge - tricky to find ones in my TBR pile that fit that criteria but my list is just about done - and then another 12 books from my growing mountain!

message 118: by KimM (new)

KimM Hi All :)

I'm Kim and I've been watching Jenni do this for 3 years. The challenge is perfect for what I need this year. I bought too many books last year. (Imagine that). Looking forward to it!

Kinsey | 35 comments I am brand new to this challenge and excited to tackle those books that have been sitting on my shelf for a while! Starting out with Mount Blanc so we’ll see if I can get higher by the end of the year.

✩Anna✩ (annanna) Hi, everyone! I'm Anna, and this is my first time attempting the Mount TBR Challenge. I own way too many books that just sit on my shelves staring at me, but I'm very bad at reaching for the things I already own. I'm going to start at Mt Vancouver and see how far I make it. :)

Colleen (cocoreads70) | 4 comments Hey all,

I joined in 2017's challenge although I know I petered out quickly but as the stacks and stacks of unread books keep piling up around my house, I've realized I must do something! I'm going to start modest with Mt. Kilimanjaro because I can always climb higher!

message 126: by NekroRider (new)

NekroRider | 11 comments Hi all, am from Canada and this is my second year trying to do Pike's Peak. I seem to be good at maintaining a pile of around 24-ish books at home lol, so that's why I've been choosing Pike's Peak. Put in a pre-made list of 12 books in my thread and hope to hit most if not all of them. I'm currently on my second book of 2020 and it's one of the books on that list carried over from last year's list 👍

Hi, I'm doing Pike Peak too. I absolutely can't manage a TBR pile of 24 books, I've counted around 150 unread books in my shelves…. but since I read about 30 books a year… you see the problem! Anyway, a TBR pile of 24 books sounds amazing!

Bookworm (catsy2008) | 5 comments Hi my name is Celine. I'm Australian. I've only started reading heaps from the beginning of last year with the goal of reducing the books I have (spoiler, it failed).
I'm gonna read 24 on Mt Blanc this year, hopefully make it to that many, as a few I've chosen are quite hefty.

message 136: by Denise (new)

Denise (dunnica_harps) Hi!
I was so successful last year that I'm back for my second climb.
Like last year, I'm going start at Base Camp and hopefully make it to the top of Pike's Peak, while also climbing in the Virtual Mt TBR realm.
I'm a slow reader. Last year I read 36 books, 24 of which were TBR, both physical and virtual. I don't have all my TBR shelved on GR, but my "to read" was always much larger than my "read." However, I started 2020 with 19 more "read" books than "to read," all thanks to my double climb. My goal for this year is to widen that gap even more by 2021, by reading 24 books off my TBR as well as a few non-TBR, purging the list of books I know I will never read, and not adding to many during the year. The last one might be pretty hard. Lol

Kelly Schnorrbusch (kelly_schnorrbusch) Hello fellow readers! I am Kelly from NJ and I have a book-buying addiction. I currently own over 1500 books, most of which are unread so far. To entice myself to read more from what I already own, I thought this would be a fun way to kick it off! I'll start with a modest climb up Mount Blanc for 24 books off my existing shelf, leaving room for impulse purchases, ARCs, and unplanned sequels.

Linda Hanson | 10 comments I'm back for a second year. I'm not sure I will ever get my TBR down, but I made more progress last year in this group than ever before. However, I'm not quite as optimistic for this year, because it seems I'm already being swayed by new books. I'm going to start with Mt. Vancouver again this year although I was able to double that last year.

Marie (marie2) | 71 comments Well, I am not sure if I posted an Introduction this year for 2020, so I will try to do so. I was successful last year in my Mount TBR 2019 to Mt. Kilimanjaro and wanted to sign up again for the Mount TBR 2020 trek. Yes, I am a book-a-holic and want to read more of the books that have accumulated over the last few years in our Casey Family Library. Since I want to read some of my larger volumes on my bookshelves, I opted to hike up to Pike's Peak this year. I look forward to completing my goal for 2020 and maybe even trek higher. We'll see!

Kristi | 6 comments Hi, everyone. This will be my first year in the challenge, but I've been trying to reach the peak of my own TBR mountain for far too many years. I've always been an avid reader, and my years as an English teacher with a classroom library and access to book orders hasn't helped. I ran out of bookshelf space ages ago, and now have a stack of boxes holding the books that are left after I've purged twice.

My goal for the year is to reach Mt. Everest.

Since I also take prolific advantage of the local library and their app, I'm also competing in the Virtual Mount TBR too.

Jamie Barringer (Ravenmount) (ravenmount) Hi, I'm new here. I own probably about as many adult fiction books as my local branch of the public library, and yet I read a ton of library books and am always getting more books. I never intend to stop getting more books, and see no problem with owning such an extensive library, but I did actually intend to read every book I brought home. So I am aiming for Mt. Everest I think this year. I read about 300 books per year, usually, so that would mean about 1/3 of my reading should be books I own to reach that goal. :)
