Madison I'm not sure if I would watch it. Not necessarily because of ther ogre, but because if I see it, I'll never be able to reimagine all the characters and scenes the way I saw them. It'll be the way the movie made them, and in a series which I mostly like because of the realistic characters, I don't want my image of the characters to change. But I kinda want it to be made into a movie so it'll be more popular.
And as for casting, I didn't really picture anyone specific while reading, but (I know a lot of people have said this) I could see Elle Fanning as Astrid (if you gave her like a side braid and glasses, that's almost exactly the same way I pictured her, I think it's the mouth that reminds me of her).
And I could see Liam Payne when he was younger as Sam (I pictured Sam like the guy on the cover).
And Caine... I pictured him blonde... Oops. But he kinda looked like that guy who was on Sonny With A Chance... The blonde one, I think he had a movie he was in too. But it was when he had the longer hair in the older episodes.
Oh! And I think only people in Canada will know who I'm talking about, but I pictured Hunter like Hunter on The Next Step and Brianna like that girl in J group (Richell I think)

Madison *gore not ogre

Deej I've always thought it would be difficult to make this series into movies because of the amount of gore and violence. I think removing it would ruin the story though. It would have to be rated R18, which would upset a lot of fans because I assume most are under that age. I have imagined Perdido Beach and the characters so vividly that I would be disappointed and angry with whatever changes were made. Casting the characters is just too hard!

Dramapuppy Well, first off, the movie will never be made because movie companies want to use famous ADULTS. Grant has admitted it's a problem years ago.

If it WAS made, they would up the age to like, 18, because no director wants their leads to be fourteen year olds.

They would pull back on the gore to appeal to their target audience, but that would ruin it. So I would see it, but I would hate it.

Emma I have to try get through the book first before I can imagine a movie...

Vivien Nguyen I think the plot would flow better as a TV series.

Vivien Nguyen And I honestly don't think that ill be rated R18 just based on the gore and violence. In my opinion there's not much gore anyway and at the most it would be M.

Emma A TV show would be so much better! And believe me, there is not much gore compared to other books/movies/TV shows I've seen...

Deej Yes, a tv show would be so much better. Bumping the age of the characters up to 18 would take so much away from the story though because what makes this book even more interesting is learning about how young people governed themselves and looked after themselves in a world without adults. Hmmm, I dunno. It's a hard one.

Dramapuppy Yes, it would mess things up. And though the violence would probably rate only an R, the movie would be a failure.

Emma What gore/violence are we talking about? I've only read under half on the first book, but so far there's no gore...

Dramapuppy Yeah, it gets A LOT worse.
