Liam Hemsworth as Darrow
How about some color in the cast? Pierce Brown doesn't often give a character's skin color in describing them, but he did describe, for example, Apollo as dark skinned, Tactus as having bronze skin, and Aja in Golden Son as having very dark skin.I can picture Apollo as Idris Elba, Aja as a beefed up Regina King, and for Tactus I'm not familiar with any young Hispanic actors but I think that would fit. And for some reason I think of Roque as Asian.
I also pictured Mustang as Asian but then learned about her being related to characters I pictured as white. Really threw my imagining of the story off, haha.
How about Lorn au Arcos played by Bill Nighy (underworld style)

I pictured Aja as Rosario Dawson :) and I like Idris as Apollo but I don't why I always thought of Cillian Murphy for the role.

I would LOVE Eddie Redmayne in ANY part, but the Jackal would be best. He is an awesome actor.

Yes! I have read many great suggestions in the thread so far, but when I read your post that really struck me that Jamie would make a great Sevro. I like to see that side of him acting wise.
Every time I think of the who could play the Jackal, I think of the actor from Game of Thrones who plays Ramsay, Iwan Rheon.That guy plays evil oh so good it hurts.
I have to admit, I always default to Chris Hemsworth as Darrow as well, even if he is older. However, while reading the books I always 'aged' the characters up when it came to the Golds in terms of their outer appearance because they are basically walking versions of Michelangelo's statue of David. Liam Hemsworth is still too baby faced to me, which probably does make more sense because heh as to age as the movies and books go, but Chris is so God looking! Haha.
Throughout all the books... I always pictured Fitchner as the actor 'William Fichtner'... firstly because of the last names... but then I realised he matched the description perfectly.[image error]
And... just to throw something into the mix... I'd like to see 'Grant Gustin' as Roque!

I have pictured Fichtner as older, scraggly and quite homely.

He does have a Roque look and would take on the character role.
I know this isn't really a casting comment, but whenever I read about Darrow with his Sling Blade I imagine it to be like an Egyptian Khopesh or Dothraki Sword.
I would love to see Zoe Zaldana in a role. Can't decide who she could play though

I imagine Tilda Swinton as The Sovereign. I think she's perfect.

I also love the idea of Idris Elba as Kavax. As for Octavia, my first thought was Tilda Swinton, but after watching the first few episodes of The Expanse, I'm convinced that Shohreh Aghdashloo would make a fantastic Sovereign.
And since the Obsidians are described as having pale skin, I latched onto the idea of Gwendolyn Christie as Sefi.
For Lorn, I'm torn between Donald Sutherland and Max Von Sydow over who I'd want to play him.
I absolutely see Maisie Williams (Arya on Game of Thrones for those who don't know/remember the name) as Mustang.
I can definitely see Dane DeHaan as the Jackal. Also Richard Harmon seems the perfect Sevro to me. Aaand... maybe Julianne Moore as the Sovereign...? Idk but I always picture her as Octavia ;)
