Timothy Moonlight | 3 comments Hi Julie,

For anyone who may see this post, we read Mystery in White by J.Mystery in White Jefferson Farjeon.

I thought the plot was clever when I read the blurb. A group of strangers meet on a train, but due to the weather, they claim a house which doesn't look abandoned by what they find, but no one is home. The winter scenes added a layer to the world which aided the world building. With the novel being written in a different time, I liked how the author developed the dialogue even though at times, I felt the pace of the story could have been improved. What did you think about the plot of the novel overall? Did you root for any particular character? Did you have a favorite scene?

I had this book a couple of years always wanting to read it never having the right time or a good head. I had Timothy as my book pal we ready this book together as you might say.
My views
I love the front of the book think that’s what captured me to it. The story itself was for me quite slow getting off the ground like the train lol. I loved the main characters in the book but couldn’t connect with Smith (people will understand when reading the book) the story for me came up to speed when they found the deserted house which they used for shelter.

I loved the storyline set in a era with limited communication the ending could have been better but a nice book I scored it 4/5 stars.
I have been to my library to see if any more of these book and they are getting some in for me.

Timothy Moonlight | 3 comments I liked how Smith talked, but for the kind of person he was, he disappeared quite early in the story for me. The author put a lot of thought into his dialogue, which I enjoyed. I agree about the ending as well. I was pleasantly surprised by the picture near the end, then found the explanation for it to be rather lazy. This was a big plot hole also. I won't spoil this in case others would like to read it, but I will say the group of witnesses would not be as gullible as they were portrayed. I wasn't as invested in the story as I could have been. The book was laden with dialogue; this might be the reason behind my nonchalant attitude toward the characters. Thanks Julie for suggesting this book and reading it with me.
