Very good series I read about 10 years ago. It's similar to Malazan in scope and some of it's concepts, subject matter and world-building. It's an unsung/under-appreciated series imo that's hard to find in depth discussion of, so I'd definitely like if more people started reading & discussing it
okay-Post 60 is up-to-date, and we have 11 series nominated--most of which look pretty interesting!
I will leave this up until this afternoon to see if we have any more response, and then start the poll.

This is my all-time favorite work by Donaldson. One of my top ten books I've ever ready (if you take them as a duology together).

I already threw out another 'double', so I cant make an exception

well, we have winners!
Promise of Blood-Powder Mage trilogy
The Sword of Shannara Trilogy and
Legend-Drenai -9 books
so since the drenai is longer, if we start Drenai in January, and do the powder mage after long price starting in March, followed by Shannara in June we will be set with reads up until September.
Does this sound good? Anyone have other options/ideas???

Unfortunately, as the series goes on... it's not so much that they become worse (maybe they do, I don't remember) but that they get more and more repetitive...
...then again, hats off to anybody who can make it through the whole Shannara trilogy. Teenage me did, but only due to a holiday stuck where no other books were available. It's the same book written three times... and that book is a sparknotes commentary on the Lord of the Rings.

I know, it's very unfortunate. I don't plan to read any of these, so we are actively looking for people willing to moderate. Please message me if anyone is willing!

So this is The Sword of Shannara, The Elfstones of Shannara, and The Wishsong of Shannara, and not any of the other Shannara books, right?

sorry about that-sometimes newer series are hard to get for library users. This series 3rd book is out in February, so its all pretty new.

Nope, thanks. If we were reading all the related books, I would probably reread the original ones to remind myself about them so I could go on to the other related series, but since it's just the originals, I doubt if I'll even reread them at this time.
