No idea, but it sounds interesting Santana.
However a few questions--When did you read this? Where did you find it? Was it adult, NA, YA, MG, or children's chapter?

Some YA books--especially the dystopian ones--can get really graphic. So that's not necessarily a barrier to it being YA. But if it's not too old, possibly a NA then?

The basic idea is some dark part of humans is coming to the fore. The chapters are told by different characters perspectives, the kids trying to survive. At first they are all pretty separate, trying to survive their individual horror stories, but their paths eventually start to cross. I unfortunately cant remember the kids names.. it's so frustrating.
Time for spoiler.
(view spoiler)[One of the kids loses his mother to illness which makes him head off by himself to try survive. One girl is on a bus with her friends, a crazy homeless-looking man keeps muttering about how it's coming, they're coming. There's a strange boy on the bus that she feels drawn to, the bus crashes, almost everyone dies. The strange boy helps her get as many survivors out of the bus as possible but they find her best friend dead, they get off the bus and he says that they're coming, she has no idea what he's talking about but thinks it's weird how similar to the crazy homeless guy's mumblings that phrase just was. They hide and watch as a gang of people start beating the hurt people they had gotten out of the bus to death. She is now terrified and doesn't understand why ambulances or the police are not responding. The two of them go to the nearby school to hide, there they meet more people waiting. The mysterious guy leaves saying it's safer for her if he's not there. People break into the school and kill some people. The kids escape. They eventually run into the mysterious guy again and she begs him to stay with them this time yet he keeps saying it's not safe for her if he does. Some of the chapters are told from the perspective of Darkness rather than from the kids perspectives. You eventually find out that this mysterious kid and the darkness are kind of the same or linked, I can't really remember correctly, but it's like he has moments of darkness and wanting to murder and moments where he's the boy he was before all the madness started. Also the people who have turned don't hurt each other, they only hurt people who haven't turned, they also sort of act like they have one single mind, like a larger entity is controlling them. I really hope someone out there knows this book, it's been tormenting me for months now.
