Dani (yogidani) | 10 comments Hi all! I'm Dani. This is my first go at this challenge, and I'm really looking forward to clearing out my TBR piles. I have a book pile as well as an ebook pile to dig through. I'd already made plans to start whittling away at them, so hopefully this challenge can give me some guidance and help me track my progress. I'll likely start at Pike's Peak, but I'd love to be able to climb numerous mountains next year!

Holli | 47 comments Hi all! I'm Holli and am new to both Goodreads and the Mount TBR challenge. I have a monster TBR pile/mountain I swear breeds while I sleep and hope to reduce it some in 2015. I'm starting with 48 books, but hope to move up at least one level before year's end. Good luck to everyone!

Sarah u (mrssarahu) Hello everyone, I'm Sarah. This will be my first Mount TBR so I'm still deciding which mountain to climb. I've got 150 + on my TBR so it definitely needs some work. My trouble is I just can't stop buying! :)

I'm looking forward to being a part of the challenge next year and getting to know you all.

message 58: by Sophia (last edited Dec 19, 2014 03:08PM) (new)

Sophia (sophiarose) Hi everyone!

I love a good challenge and I seem to need one to motivate me to work through my books. I love them so this is no hardship. I spend a lot of time reviewing so I don't tend to just pick up my own chosen pleasure books as much (not that the review books aren't a pleasure). I love many genres of fiction and an eensy bit of non-fiction. I read for escape and I'm a mood reader. I can have a few different books open at once, but I don't peek at the end and rarely set one aside as a did not finish.

This will be my third year to participate and my TBR pile is still as mountainous as ever. I suspect that has something to do with me adding more than I read this year. I have more e-books than actual books, but I still have stacks of those too. I get my books from several of the usual sources and have lots of friends and family who feed my habit too.

I barely made it up Mt. Toro last year (2014) so I'm going to stick with that mountain again for 75 books.

Good luck, everyone!

message 59: by ClaireB (new)

ClaireB Hello everyone,

Like all of you I have a stack of unread books at home that keeps growing and growing. Even when I know I have so much books already I can't resist buying new ones. This challenge is perfect for me. It'll help me a great deal I think ! I'd be overjoyed to even have a fourth of what I have read. I'll start with level one and climb my way up to higher mountains.

message 60: by Marina (new)

Marina (sonnenbarke) Hi everyone, I'm Marina from Italy.

I heard of this challenge in another challenge group and I decided to join. I have a TBR pile of around 400 books, although they might actually be slightly less as I did move various times over the past few years and each time I gave some of my books as gifts/bookcrossed them/etc. without caring to update my GR bookshelf. So I lost some of them on the way.

I don't have a big library at home because my books are spread across my own home and that of my parents' - again, the reason is that I seem to keep moving around and haven't found *my* place yet.

I will start with Mount Ararat for a personal reason, and that is because I love that mountain as a symbol of Armenia, a country which I really love (before you say, yes I know that Mt. Ararat is currently in Turkey, but it's historically the symbol of Armenia). I might up my goal if I do well.

Julia (julia_heller) | 1 comments Hi everyone,

this is my second year of participating - didn't quite manage to climb up Mt. Vancouver in 2014, but in 2015 this will change (hopefully). I'm now at 399 unread books, about 35 are ebooks, so most of them are actually sitting on their shelves waiting for (and staring at) me. Time to give them all the love they deserve!
Have a great time reading(and happy Holidays!)

Christine Hi Bev, back again to try get rid of the every increasing tower I seem to have accumulated. I didn't make the target for 2014 but will keep the eyes on the page and work harder in 2015 ...

message 67: by Katherine (Kat) (new)

Katherine (Kat) Nagel (katnagel) | 1 comments I'm signing up again. This year, I'm going to actually take two bits of advice I was given last year, but ignored:

1. Pick a level you know you will achieve, and level up later if you finish early.

2. Don't post the titles before you read them. You'll get distracted, and read other books instead. List your TBR books when you FINISH them.

So, this year, instead of picking a number that will feel oppressive, I'm going to start with baby steps and commit to 12 books to begin with. And I will list each book when I finish it and write the review.

Wish me luck!

Welcome back, Chris! Yes...they do. I'm going to end 2014 having knocked off almost 130 books from my stacks....I haven't counted up how many appeared in the house over the past year, but I'm quite sure it's more than 130.

Kathy Broyles Hi - back again for the 3rd year. I struggled up Mt. Ararat in 2014. I was really afraid I would not make it. I read over 200 books last year, but I read so many new books (or new to me!) that I almost didn't get to the top. This year I'm going to make Mt. Vancouver and go jump on another mountain if I get to the top too quickly!

Kristie3898 | 2 comments Hello Everyone! My name is Kristie and I too am a book lover/hoarder! I have hundreds maybe into the thousands of books in my stash, because I am addicted to books! The problem is I can never find the time to read like I would like to. I tried this challenge last year, but unfortunately did not make my goal, so I am challenging myself again in 2015! My goal this year is to reduce my stash by at least 50 books. This is still a pretty aggressive goal, but I think I can do this knocking out some of my shorter books.

I have also accumulated several magazines over the last few years. Are we able to count magazines in this challenge? If not, I will just challenge myself to get rid of all of my old magazines by December 31, 2015!

Man, I really have some lofty goals for myself, so I better crack open my first book! Happy reading friends!

Katie Leversuch (katieleversuch) Hello!

I'm back again too! This is my second year doing this challenge. I will be attempting the Mount Blanc this time round. I do have a lot of unread books on the shelf....

Good luck everyone, and Happy New Year!

message 83: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 28 comments Hi, my name's Sarah. This will be my third year participating in this challenge. I'm still climbing the smaller mountains, it will be Mount Blanc for me again this year. Here's hoping I can complete it (for the first time) in 2015. I'm a librarian and love my public library - I usually end up borrowing more books to read then focusing on the ones I own. But anyway, here's hoping I can manage this smallish climb. Best of luck to everyone on their reading challenge this year!

But in the past I have allowed my life to get in the way of my passion for reading, not this year. Time to tackle that wee mountain...this is my first year joining the challenge. Barbarac (bcb72) | 16 comments I'm in again this year. I made such good progress last year (78 books!) and was able to hold myself off for several months before buying new books. So I'm hoping to keep working on my TBR pile (both on the floor by my bed and on my Kindle and Google Books).
This year I'm aiming for approximately 30 books. That should make my house less cluttery and dangerous :)
