Linda | 17 comments Paperback read between 1965-1970. In the particular story I am looking for, people in a castle hang towels etc. in all the windows to find a missing room.

Other stories in the book MIGHT have been The Willows by Algernon Blackwood, Cocoon by John B. L. Goodwin and The Ghost of Ticonderoga by Walter Gibson/Rod Serling.

I thought I’d read all these in the same book plus the “Hidden Room” story but I can’t find that one particularly story title to confirm.

Linda, what is horrific about the "hidden room in castle" short story?

Are there fantasy elements or fantastical creatures in your story?

About how many short stories in this horror anthology/collection?

Is it an attic room (e.g., a long shot - 50 Great Horror Stories (1971) by John Canning: "The Attic Room" by Ian Fellowes-Gordon)?

Linda | 17 comments The hidden room was in a Castle and I think there was something to do with the ghosts of medieval knights and their captain trapped in it and they came marching out when the room was found.

A few guesses:

- Some Things Strange and Sinister (1973) by Joan Kahn?
- Stories Of The Supernatural (1967) by Betty M. Owen?

Genesistrine | 575 comments That's supposed to be how some people found the hidden room in Glamis Castle with the Monster of Glamis in, but that's folklore, so it shows up in a lot of different forms and/or True Ghost Stories-type collections.

Linda | 17 comments It’s The Curse of Seven Towers from “ Chilling Stories from Rod Serlings The Twilight Zone.
