The first is a stray kindle edition that needs to be merged with the primary entry.
Thank you!

Did not delete, because it was a unique edition. Fixed the author name and combined with the other editions.
Also, reverted the change that removed the ASIN and put a ISBN in place, since a kindle edition is supposed to have an ASIN.

I think it should be combined with this https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2... and then deleted.

They are identical. I have already separated them from the main group and combined them to each other. I have a higher quality photo, I will add and then combine back with others editions after one is deleted.
Thanks

515 done; btw, that was supposed to be an ACE for 9780385121675, but the edition on Goodreads with that ISBN13 also had the same cover image -- always a clue that someone has made a bad cover change on the edition with the ISBN13. i reverted some bad changes, and i placed the ISBN13 into the book description.

The first edition has an ISBN 0385121679. The Book Club edition has no ISBN within the book, on the cover nor on the dust jacket. Furthermore, both covers are identical. The only differences are in the quality of the photos taken of the books.
Please explain,

Concerning your note in the librarian Note section. I only added a higher quality picture of the pre-existing pic. That pic was overwritten before I made any edits. I have never seen that pic before. If it had meed there when I started, I would have made an ACE.
Hope this helps

One of the editions you wished to merge had a librarian comment at the bottom of the edit page (where it's a miracle I saw it, actually -- but you can see it here, just scroll down to the bottom) that said the Book Club Edition was actually an ACE for ISBN13 9780385121675/ISBN10 0385121679. I subsequently found evidence online that at least occasionally the Book Club Edition was indeed associated with that ISBN10/ISBN13. Hence my note added to the book club edition to that effect.
I went to the edition on Goodreads that DOES have ISBN13 9780385121675/ISBN10 0385121679 attached to it. To my surprise, it was the same cover as the book club edition. Why would anyone attach a note to a book record saying it's an ACE for an edition that has the same cover? They wouldn't -- what ACTUALLY happened was that once upon a time, there was a different book cover attached to ISBN13 9780385121675/ISBN10 0385121679. Then someone came along and created a new ACE with the book club edition cover but failed to mark it as an ACE in the usual way. After that, someone else, against Goodreads librarian policy, replaced the original cover associated with ISBN13 9780385121675 with the book club cover.
I was merely explaining that if you ever see an edition marked as an ACE of ISBN XXXXXXXXXX, but looking up ISBN XXXXXXXXXX, you see the exact same cover as the supposed ACE, that's a dead-giveaway that someone has made a cover change against policy.
I have no objection to changing out a cover image for a better quality image of the same cover. Have at it. I have 'overwritten' no covers. I have reverted a bad cover change, but that's on an edition unrelated to the one you were interested in editing.
Here is the book club edition in question, in case you're having trouble finding it now (links posted for merging here don't always work as you'd expect post merging):

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrote to get my new books appearing twice, but can you delete this:
The correct listing already appears on my profile and I'd like this one removed:

The first has a cover and pub. year, but no ISBN.
The second has an ISBN that matches the first's cover, but which has also been used in a 1993 edition of that same collection. I was debating if it would be best to make complete the record and make the first an ACE, even though we don't have the cover for the 1993 edition.
The third has publication date 1988, which would place it before the publication of two of the stories it allegedly contains. It also doesn't have ISBN data. There are other 'The Collections' on WorldCat (same name, different books), but none of them were published in 1988.

Z-squared, In response to 519. I hope our running lights don't fail! I appreciate your patience. I'm glad you sorted it all out! You are correct, whether you need my approval or not.
I saw both editions with the same cover and, well you said the rest in your reply! It didn't click as to why someone created an ACE with the same Cover! Good catch, Z!
I can't see the old covers before someone overwrites the correct one, without reverting them back. Then if I put it pack the way I found it, it attaches my name to the mistake! Is there a way to see it, (as a mere librarian), without reverting it back first? If not, I'll pass it off to you earlier in the process the next time, when it looks messy. Saying this, I understand I missed the flag or tell tale sign, that you caught.
Now, about my personal editions: One is an actual First edition with an ISBN and the other a Book Club copy without an ISBN and they match your ACE which is a BC with an ISBN. Both of my covers match the ACE! Should I just add in the description, that cover although an ACE, may or may not be a Book club edition and may or may not have an ISBN? This would cover all three books, (First Edition, BC w/ISBN and BC wo/ISBN) having the same cover and ISBN in one entry.
Lastly, I have editions in my collection that have the same cover and ISBN for the First edition and Book club Edition. If the page already shows my cover, and it's the same for both, I just note in the description that ISBN and cover applies to the First Edition and Book club edition, both. If they don't match my cover, I make a single ACE to cover both. I'm only speaking of when the first Edition and BC covers are "EXCACT" in every way, including the ISBN, of course! Just thought I'd mention it while on the subject, because I don't see it covered in the manual.

Oh! Is that what he meant? Sorry, interpreted the question wrong.

In the edit history https://www.goodreads.com/book/edits/... you can see that it was originally a paperback with the ISBN 978-1453728406 and then it was changed to an ebook edition with a new ISBN. The paperback ISBN - which is a legitimate edition - you can see here http://www.amazon.com/Jenny-Pox-J-L-B... - now doesn't have its own edition. Should we revert these edits? Or make a new paperback version? I don't understand why it was undone to make this ebook edition - and they didn't create a new edition for it!

I have little faith in Amazon as many of their books were entered by people trying to sell their books. Goodreads, although now owned by Amazon, take the information to much higher standard.
However, your statements holds true with the 6 sites I checked, including WorldCat and the following library
http://fvrl.ent.sirsi.net/client/default
http://fvrl.ent.sirsi.net/client/defa...
I see no reason why a new entry was not made for the ebook as the paperback version looks to be a valid entry.

Not that I've found, unfortunately. That's what I do.
Mike wrote: "Now, about my personal editions: One is an actual First edition with an ISBN and the other a Book Club copy without an ISBN and they match your ACE which is a BC with an ISBN. Both of my covers match the ACE!"
Ok, I'm genuinely stumped on that one. On the one hand, they are two separate editions, so you could argue that they need two separate entries. On the other hand, we don't make new editions for reprints if the cover & content haven't changed, even if they are published different years. This feels like the same thing -- the cover/content of the ISBN-less BC edition is identical to the ACE. Need a second opinion, as this doesn't happen very often!

I don't totally parse this, but it's probably kosher... Do the book club editions really have no distinguishing characteristics on their covers to differentiate them from the first editions? Not even a medallion or something somewhere? If they have the same ISBN and cover, what makes them a 'book club edition'? Is their content different?
Anyway, we're probably going to get booted from this thread soon, as our discussion of the minutiae of ACE policy has definitely gone far afield of the original topic. If you have further questions, start a new thread and I'll join you there :)
