I read this sample and I’m looking for book this year. This book takes place in a village with weird views about the forest. They think it’s cursed and believe in sacrifices. The book is about a girl who loves her sister who’s disabled. Her sister and her are working in the field by the woods when the girls looks up and her sister is gone. She follows her tracks into the woods where she finds a boy with a flute. She finds her sister and the boy leads them but the girl knows somethings up so she runs and get her sister out. She gets stuck passed out in words and villagers go in and get her. But things start happening after that and they get upset and the boy calls the girl to the woods every night with his flute because he can control people with it.

What exactly do you mean by "mates," like werewolves? Supernatural soulmates?

It was an ebook and it wasn’t werewolves. It did mention soulmates, it was similar to Piper with the pied piper similarities.
