That's great. I'm glad you like it too. I'm really enjoying it. Not just the Mystery Thriller aspect but also the characters and the way Josie is evolving. Plus there's a bit of Romance as well (from book #3 onwards). I'm looking forward to reading the rest of it.

Kari by Terri Anne Browning

Just posted MY REVIEW of this book.

I was led to this book after reading Browning's book Hating Piper, part of her Rocker's Legacy series -- which is part of her Rocker Universe. I normally don't read series out of order, but the book's description lured me in. I really enjoyed the characters and their story so much that I wanted to read more in the related series of the "universe" -- only in order, of course -- which pretty much comprises every series she writes. I found a reading order on her website and Our Broken Love, a collection of five stories, was listed first. Kari is the first story in the set and is part of the Safe Haven series.

Only the audio version of the books in the print edition are listed on GoodReads separately, which is why I posted my review there.

Paranormal Romantic Suspense

A legend, a protector of her tribe, and a 2000-year-old warrior are combined with suspense, action, and romance. It was entertaining and has great characterization.

Historical fiction

Danger, intrigue, the Olympics, and a possible romance take center stage in this novel. The plot is twisty and the story kept me captivated despite a few slow spots. The historical references to events during the Olympics added a significant layer of interest and realism to the plot.

I read the first six books of the Detective Josie Quinn series by Lisa Regan. I enjoyed them all, though my favourites were book 3 & 4: Her Mother's Grave & Her Final Confession.

I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series, but before I do that, I wish to try out some of the books I recently got for free on Amazon.

Planning to start with The Girl from Silent Lake by Leslie Wolfe. It's the first book in her Detective Kay Sharp series.

By the way, I posted the list of free books here:

Just thought I'd share :-)

I read books 1 & 2: The Girl from Silent Lake & Beneath Blackwater River. Both were good. Mystery Thrillers with a touch of Romance. I enjoyed them. I would like to read the whole series one of these days.

For now I'm going back to trying out the freebies I recently got from Amazon. I'm torn between One Left Behind by Helen Phifer and Save Me by Molly Black. Have you read any of these books or authors? Would love to hear your thoughts if you have :-)

I also have Once He Sees on my kindle. It's one of the books I recently got for free from Amazon. Maybe I'll read that one next. From what I gather, the female protagonist, who is an FBI agent, develops psychic abilities after she dies and is resuscitated by her partner. Should be interesting :-)

I enjoyed Dawn Girl and would like to read more books of this series. However, if I had to compare, I'd say that so far, I like Detective Kay Sharp series more.

I read The Postcard Killers by James Patterson and Liza Marklund. I don't remember reading anything by these authors before, but the title caught my eye as I was browsing in the library. The plot seemed interesting, so I thought I'd give it a try.

My thoughts: The Mystery Thriller aspect was good, but somehow, the Romance didn't work for me. Still, for the most part the book was quite enjoyable.

I'm starting Until I Die Again by Tina Wainscott. It will be my first book by this author. From what I gather, it's a Paranormal Romantic Suspense featuring a female protagonist who is murdered and wakes up in another woman's body, who died at the same time but in a different location. Hope it's as interesting as it sounds :-)

It was good. I enjoyed it. I'm now reading book 2: Stranger in the Mirror. It follows the story of the dead woman, Hallie, whose body was inhabited by the female protagonist in the first book. The murdered Chris became Hallie, and now in the second book, the original Hallie wakes up in some other woman's body, Marti, who was killed by an unknown person. It might sound weird and confusing but it's actually pretty interesting :-)

Historical Fiction / Mystery
1943 Seattle, Washington
The plot is twisty and changing throughout with several potential killers. It gradually builds momentum and the period details felt authentic. However, I didn’t feel that I learned anything new from the novel and the killer was somewhat easy to discern. Despite this, the world-building was well-done, and story gave excellent insight into the main and secondary characters’ behaviors and actions towards others.

More of a survival story than a mystery or thriller ----
Difficult living conditions, fearful for her life and that of her son, and some unexpected resilience make for an interesting story, but it didn’t quite live up to my expectations from the synopsis. However, it is gripping and compelling at times and I wanted to know how it would end.
