GETTING TO KNOW YOU

<closed thread>What are you currently reading?
Earlier, I finished reading
by Shirley Jackson. I was disappointed by this book to be honest. I felt the novel did not live up to the reputation it has gotten. I just felt like it was missing something. Plus I disliked all the characters and the strange dialogue between them really annoyed me. This is one novel where the movie, or in this case movies, are better than the book. My full review is here.Next I'm going to read
by Anne Rice.
Working on Bloody Jack: Being an Account of the Curious Adventures of Mary "Jacky" Faber, Ship's Boy and Seventh Son. Oh my sweet god is Seventh Son amazing. I got halfway through at school, and I was grumpy when I had to put it down to come home!
I finished A Perfect Day,it was pretty good and enlightening. It sorta dragged at the end but great read.I am about to beginDalva

I finished it, I am checking out some boring books:(
I'm reading The Rook and an Abundances of Katherines.I'm hoping to finish them this week, because I have to return them soon.
Yeah. I want to read Tyger Tyger as well, but I don't have time for it yet (must return today).
As I was saying, when I go to the library, I'll take out Eona (Eon #2). OMG I CANT WAIT. I love that series! At least, the first book. lol.
Reading Beautiful Chaos, which I'm really enjoying -- but I wish I could remember more of what happened in the second book. That's the problem with series spaced so far apart. Also reading John Adams, which is excellent, although I tend to only read it in bits and pieces.
And listening to Half-Blood Blues, which requires some concentration but so far has been well worth the effort.

With series that are pretty far-spaced, I usually read the first one and, if I like it, wait to read the whole thing at once (so I only have to reread one book). Some series, though, I collect until they're all out (I did that with the Chris d'Lacey dragon books, Artemis Fowl, and am still doing that with both Blue Bloods and House of Night).
Right now I'm reading a bunch of manga that my friend loaned me and some ebooks from the library.

Secret Daughter by Shilpi Somaya Gowda."I read that book and I enjoyed it.
Earlier today, I finished reading
by Anne Rice. The Witching Hour is an extremely long novel, 1207 pages, but don't let that put you off reading as once you open the first page you soon find yourself completely absorbed in the chilling tale of the Mayfair Witches. This novel has a spellbinding, engrossing, well-written tale with complex and mysterious characters. There are plenty of compelling twists and turns in the plot to keep you interested and the suspense is drawn out to perfection. The novel is completely unpredictable, I found the ending to be quite a shock! My full review can be found here. Now, I'm about to start
by Washington Irving and
by Mary Shelley.
I loved Between Shades of Grey when I read it - beautifully written - I recommend it to my mom who teaches russian history in high school because the annexation of the baltic states isn't something that is often discussed
I'm still struggling through Room (very well written, just difficult subject matter) plus I started Executive Power.
i liked room, but i did listen to the audiobook which I think gave me a different perspective since it was narrated by a kid
Sue T wrote: "I'm still struggling through Room (very well written, just difficult subject matter) plus I started Executive Power."I have a copy of Room but just can't get started. I, too, think it's the subject matter that I'm afraid of...
finished up The Thirteen American Arguments: Enduring Debates That Define and Inspire Our Country last night for sandy's task - the last chapter was the best - the rest was just ehhh (and no, not because it was the last chapter)hoping to finish up A Thousand Lives: The Untold Story of Hope, Deception, and Survival at Jonestown todya/tomorrow - it is the story of the Jonestown Cult Massacre in Guyana from the 1970's - using it as a non-fiction for one of the 30 pointers
I'm also reading Les Misérables but not counting it for the challenge, since I have no intention of finishing it in the 3 months
Earlier I finished reading
by Mary Shelley. This novel turned out to be nothing like what I was expecting. I was expecting a generic horror story about a monster but what I got was so much more complex, it's actually quite a philosophical story really. I was extremely surprised and impressed by the actual story itself. I really enjoyed this book and I'm happy I finally got around to reading this classic. My full review is here. I'm planning to read
by Janet Evanovich next.

Tuesday evening and really liked it ☺I just started
Dee wrote: "i liked room, but i did listen to the audiobook which I think gave me a different perspective since it was narrated by a kid"I started
as an audiobook and never finished it (listened to the first couple of chapters). Then I bought the book and re-started it from the beginning, made it through the first 5-10 pages and put it down. For some reason it just isn't holding my attention or maybe I just wasn't in the right mood for it. Eventually I hope to pick it up again as everyone says it's a really good book.

I finished reading
by Janet Evanovich this morning. Stephanie's adventures still make me laugh after 11 novels. There are so many hilarious and witty scenes in this book. But I have to admit I was a bit annoyed by Stephanie in this book. I just wish she'd finally choose between Joe Morelli and Ranger! http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...Now I'm reading
by Kate Morton.
