This is the best group!!!
(Now to finish reading it...only 1150 pages to go!)
lol...eventually i'll get to it...look at it this way, you can reward yourself by finishing it, but going to see Russell Crowe and Hugh Jackman in the new version that is coming out ;)

i have a hard time seeing them as Valjean and Javert - because i'm sooo biased by the broadway versions - Colm Wilkerson who played Valjean for over 15 years, Philip (ugh blanking on his last name) who was Javert
Just finished Breathless (2 stars - disappointing), still working on Mudbound for task 30.1 and starting The Andromeda Strain for 20.7
I'm reading State of Wonder and The White Mary: A Novel. I hope I won't be dreaming about traveling through the rain forest. The first is set in the Amazon region, and the second in Papua New Guinea.
I've finished reading The Lucky One by Nicholas Sparks earlier and now I'm starting Seven Up by Janet Evanovich.
Connie - how is The White Mary? i have it on the pile for Anne's task/group read in the around the world challenge - like you
Still reading A Clash of Kings, I also started Crocodile on the Sandbank and I'm listening to Special Delivery in the van - only place I have a functional cassette player.
Dee, I enjoyed "The White Mary." The author herself had been through the jungle of Papua New Guinea so I felt the reader was getting a true look of what it was like in a rain forest. It had a good story that kept my interest too.
I just read The Snow Child tonight, and could not put the book down until I finished it. This was a wonderful combination of a magical folktale with the reality of setting up a home and farm in 1920 in Alaska.
Reading
for 30.7, and just picked up my first audiobook EVER for my commutes: A Spy in the House for 20.8 :).
Jayme(the ghost reader) wrote: "I read Going Bovine for Spring Challenge."What did you think? It's taking me a little while to get into it, but the premise is just too good!
I hope you like that Randi - I just looked at the audiobook and Justine Eyre is a narrator that I enjoyRandi wrote: "Reading

@Dee I'm anxious to see how I do with audiobooks. I'd love to be able to "read" on my commutes (45 minutes each way), but I'm a little nervous that not following along with a paper copy will drive me crazy!@Jayme Definitely weird! I'm almost to 100 pages and it seems to be piquing my interest a little more, but we'll see. :)
Just finished Angel's Tip, not a good thriller at all- lack of consistency.I am about to begin another thriller- Hush
Jayme(the ghost reader) wrote: "@Randi I thought the character was on some kind of drugs. :)"It's starting to get really trippy!! I'm kind of losing focus...I feel like I'm going to have to drag myself to the end in hopes that things get better. :(
Decided I LOVE audiobooks! Yay, no more boredom in the car!
lol Randi!! there are a couple of good audiobook groups here on GR - i'm member of 2 of them - you can find them in my profile ;)
Yesterday, I finished reading Seven Up by Janet Evanovich and today I've started The Client by John Grisham.
Thanks, Dee! I'm going to check those out. :) I wish my library had a larger audiobook selection. Have you used Audible? I'm debating buying a membership.I gave up on Going Bovine. I hate not finishing books, but I just got stuck with it. Moving on to The Difference Between You and Me and I have 1 disc left of A Spy in the House: A Mary Quinn Mystery.
i love audible Randi - I have the 2 credit a month plan and they have huge sales as well...I just bought the rest of the JD Robb In Death series for only 7.95 each, compared to the normal 17-18I also use booksfree - which is kind of link Netflix - they send you audiobooks on CD to listen to, once you listen, you return them and they send you the next ones on your list
I just finished A Broken Vessel by Kate Ross and I'm trying to decide which of my four library books to read next--they are all due at the same time.

Ooo, now to decide between the two! Hmm, my birthday is in 4 days so maybe I shall "hint" to the husband. ;) Thanks for the info!
lol, well if you want books to keep go for audible, if you just want to borrow, then do booksfree...I find that with a combo of both I get a good selection - books I might not necessarily want to keep through booksfree or my library, ones that I will re-listen through audibleRandi wrote: "Dee wrote: "i love audible Randi - I have the 2 credit a month plan and they have huge sales as well...I just bought the rest of the JD Robb In Death series for only 7.95 each, compared to the norm..."
I just finished Hush, it was a mediocre read, enjoyed the ending though.I am about to begin A Ship Made Of Paper.
I can't believe how many books I have going right now. Les Misérables
The White Bone
Blood Red
Letters In Cardboard Boxes
I read The Difference Between You and Me yesterday and started Ashfall, which is awesome!Dee, I think I'm going to check out booksfree. :) Mentioned it to the hubby last night as a birthday present haha.
lol Randi - they are addictive ;) I believe there is an audible option where you pay a flat rate for the year - don't get credits, but get the member discount and can have access to their sales - if you look at going that route...I would play around on both and see which one has more books that you think you will listen to

But I need to do some more research on audible since I just realized they probably have a smart phone app. :)
Just finished Ashfall & highly recommend it! On to Between Shades of Gray.
I'm working my way through Proust's Way: A Field Guide to In Search of Lost Time in preparation to read the final volume of the epic novel, and I'm also just starting In the Shadow of the Banyan: A Novel which I won through Firstreads!
Finished Born to Rock(15.8) and Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children(20.6) (highly recommended!) and will soon finish listening to One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (20.3).Just started The Anubis Gates(30.1) and A Treasury of Royal Scandals: The Shocking True Stories of History's Wickedest, Weirdest, Most Wanton Kings, Queens, Tsars, Popes, and Emperors (15.3). Next up in audio will be The Dark Is Rising (10.2).
Currently reading
(20.10) which had been on my tbr list for a while so good for the extra push to get it read. Not sure what I'll read next though.
I'm almost finished with The Accidental Tourist by Anne Tyler. and upstairs I have just a couple chapters left of Selling Out by Justina Robson. I need to find something nice and upbeat to read. Most of my recent reads have not been too cheerful to put it mildly.
Michael - You'll have to let us know how you like The Book of Lost Fragrances. It looks like something I would enjoy reading.Mary
