No worries, Ms. Anderson accepted Les Misérables for her task! Yippee!

This is the best group!!!

(Now to finish reading it...only 1150 pages to go!)

Dee (austhokie) | 8987 comments lol...eventually i'll get to it...look at it this way, you can reward yourself by finishing it, but going to see Russell Crowe and Hugh Jackman in the new version that is coming out ;)

I am so going to that movie. I don't go to many--but Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe!!

Dee (austhokie) | 8987 comments i have a hard time seeing them as Valjean and Javert - because i'm sooo biased by the broadway versions - Colm Wilkerson who played Valjean for over 15 years, Philip (ugh blanking on his last name) who was Javert

message 2256: by Michael (new)

Michael (book_nerd1991) I am about to begin Living Proof.

message 2257: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (mnmgbwi) | 197 comments Just finished Breathless (2 stars - disappointing), still working on Mudbound for task 30.1 and starting The Andromeda Strain for 20.7

message 2258: by Connie (new)

Connie G (connie_g) | 358 comments I'm reading State of Wonder and The White Mary: A Novel. I hope I won't be dreaming about traveling through the rain forest. The first is set in the Amazon region, and the second in Papua New Guinea.

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) | 3046 comments I finished "Flawless" and starting "Deadlocked"

message 2260: by Aoibhínn (new)

Aoibhínn (aoibhinn) I've finished reading The Lucky One by Nicholas Sparks earlier and now I'm starting Seven Up by Janet Evanovich.

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) | 3046 comments I love Stephanie Plum

Dee (austhokie) | 8987 comments Connie - how is The White Mary? i have it on the pile for Anne's task/group read in the around the world challenge - like you

message 2264: by Sue (new)

Sue (suetinge) | 1580 comments Still reading A Clash of Kings, I also started Crocodile on the Sandbank and I'm listening to Special Delivery in the van - only place I have a functional cassette player.

message 2265: by Connie (new)

Connie G (connie_g) | 358 comments Dee, I enjoyed "The White Mary." The author herself had been through the jungle of Papua New Guinea so I felt the reader was getting a true look of what it was like in a rain forest. It had a good story that kept my interest too.

message 2266: by Connie (new)

Connie G (connie_g) | 358 comments I just read The Snow Child tonight, and could not put the book down until I finished it. This was a wonderful combination of a magical folktale with the reality of setting up a home and farm in 1920 in Alaska.

Randi (mrsrandimoulton) | 254 comments Reading Going Bovine by Libba Bray for 30.7, and just picked up my first audiobook EVER for my commutes: A Spy in the House for 20.8 :).

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) | 3046 comments I read Going Bovine for Spring Challenge.

What did you think? It's taking me a little while to get into it, but the premise is just too good!

message 2270: by Michael (new)

Michael (book_nerd1991) Angel's Tip, I hope it is a good thriller.

message 2271: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 8987 comments I hope you like that Randi - I just looked at the audiobook and Justine Eyre is a narrator that I enjoy

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) | 3046 comments @Randi I finished it but it was kinda weird. I hope you enjoy it.

message 2273: by Randi (new)

Randi (mrsrandimoulton) | 254 comments @Dee I'm anxious to see how I do with audiobooks. I'd love to be able to "read" on my commutes (45 minutes each way), but I'm a little nervous that not following along with a paper copy will drive me crazy!

@Jayme Definitely weird! I'm almost to 100 pages and it seems to be piquing my interest a little more, but we'll see. :)

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) | 3046 comments @Randi I thought the character was on some kind of drugs. :)

message 2275: by Michael (new)

Michael (book_nerd1991) Just finished Angel's Tip, not a good thriller at all- lack of consistency.

I am about to begin another thriller- Hush

Randi (mrsrandimoulton) | 254 comments Jayme(the ghost reader) wrote: "@Randi I thought the character was on some kind of drugs. :)"

It's starting to get really trippy!! I'm kind of losing focus...I feel like I'm going to have to drag myself to the end in hopes that things get better. :(

Decided I LOVE audiobooks! Yay, no more boredom in the car!

message 2277: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 8987 comments lol Randi!! there are a couple of good audiobook groups here on GR - i'm member of 2 of them - you can find them in my profile ;)

message 2278: by Aoibhínn (new)

Aoibhínn (aoibhinn) Yesterday, I finished reading Seven Up by Janet Evanovich and today I've started The Client by John Grisham.

Randi (mrsrandimoulton) | 254 comments Thanks, Dee! I'm going to check those out. :) I wish my library had a larger audiobook selection. Have you used Audible? I'm debating buying a membership.

I gave up on Going Bovine. I hate not finishing books, but I just got stuck with it. Moving on to The Difference Between You and Me and I have 1 disc left of A Spy in the House: A Mary Quinn Mystery.

message 2280: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 8987 comments i love audible Randi - I have the 2 credit a month plan and they have huge sales as well...I just bought the rest of the JD Robb In Death series for only 7.95 each, compared to the normal 17-18

I also use booksfree - which is kind of link Netflix - they send you audiobooks on CD to listen to, once you listen, you return them and they send you the next ones on your list

message 2281: by Donna Jo (new)

Ooo, now to decide between the two! Hmm, my birthday is in 4 days so maybe I shall "hint" to the husband. ;) Thanks for the info!

message 2284: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 8987 comments lol, well if you want books to keep go for audible, if you just want to borrow, then do booksfree...I find that with a combo of both I get a good selection - books I might not necessarily want to keep through booksfree or my library, ones that I will re-listen through audible

Michael (book_nerd1991) I just finished Hush, it was a mediocre read, enjoyed the ending though.

I am about to begin A Ship Made Of Paper.

message 2286: by Bea (new)

Bea I can't believe how many books I have going right now.

Les Misérables
The White Bone
Blood Red
Letters In Cardboard Boxes

message 2287: by Randi (new)

Randi (mrsrandimoulton) | 254 comments I read The Difference Between You and Me yesterday and started Ashfall, which is awesome!

Dee, I think I'm going to check out booksfree. :) Mentioned it to the hubby last night as a birthday present haha.

message 2288: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 8987 comments lol Randi - they are addictive ;) I believe there is an audible option where you pay a flat rate for the year - don't get credits, but get the member discount and can have access to their sales - if you look at going that route...I would play around on both and see which one has more books that you think you will listen to

I'm leaning more toward booksfree mostly because I don't have an mp3 player and will listen in the car. But I need to do some more research on audible since I just realized they probably have a smart phone app. :)

Just finished Ashfall & highly recommend it! On to Between Shades of Gray.

Katrina (katmcv) | 455 comments Currently reading Catching Jordan by Miranda Kenneally (20.10) which had been on my tbr list for a while so good for the extra push to get it read. Not sure what I'll read next though.

message 2296: by Donna Jo (new)

Donna Jo Atwood | 2412 comments I'm almost finished with The Accidental Tourist by Anne Tyler. and upstairs I have just a couple chapters left of Selling Out by Justina Robson.
I need to find something nice and upbeat to read. Most of my recent reads have not been too cheerful to put it mildly.

message 2297: by Michael (new)

Michael (book_nerd1991) I just finished I Suck at Girls by Justin Halpern , it was pretty lame, despite the rave reviews.

I am about to begin The Book of Lost Fragrances by M.J. Rose .
