I just finished re-reading Breakfast of Champions for the "In the Spirit of the Season" 5-star reread, and started Lords and Ladies. Either Soul Music or Mockingjay after that!
Still reading War and Peace. Getting close to the 1/3 mark, so I'm still on schedule to finish before the Challenge ends. Tomorrow, I hope to start Palace of Desire for the second half of one of the 15-point tasks.
I finished "Seeking Spirits: The Lost Cases of the Atlantic Paranormal Society". I will be starting "Titan's Curse"
I've read my first two books for the 50 point task-Little Women for part b, Blood Price for part c and today I'm on to part a Dark Summit: The True Story of Everest's Most Controversial Season
I've got three going right now - Glory in Death for 20.1, Speak for 30.7 and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets for 10.5.
I am hoping to finish Open and Shut and The Ginseng Hunter: A Novel today. Then I think I will start Whiter Than Snow and Sex on the Beach Book Club.
I am just getting ready to read Interview With the Vampire. I've never read any of Rice's vampire books before. I only have 4 books to finish, so I might be done by Sunday night if my last book comes in at the library. (Someone else has the nerve to be reading it! )
I have 10 books to go and 3 of those are in progress right now...starting my third book for the 50 pointer tonight, I think
I've got three going right now - Speak Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and The Romanov ProphecyI know there's no way I'll finish, but I do want to see how far I get.
@ Sue - I really liked the Romanov Prophecy when I read it a few years back, but I liked his The Third Secret more - after that the series sorta started going downhill
All right I am currently reading Outlander for 30.5 (home book), Jane Eyre for 50.1 (buddy read book), and I think I will start Back On Blossom Street for 10.6(on-the-go book).
Delicious Dee Challenge Addict wrote: "@ Sue - I really liked the Romanov Prophecy when I read it a few years back, but I liked his The Third Secret more - after that the series sorta started going downhill"Dee, I've read a couple of his other books - The Amber Room and The Venetian Betrayal I'll have to add The Third Secret to my TBR list, which somehow never seems to get any shorter.
lol...its the truth...it just keeps growing...I added another 4 to it today after what was supposed to be a quick trip to borders (but it only cost my $11)
The Wife by Meg Wolitzer by I am unhappy with this book. I don't think I will continue reading it. It is very slow and I don't like the back and forth. I will be reading After by Amy Efaw next :)
I've been battling through the first 100 pages of Feed by Mira Grant. It started fine with the zombies and the history but when it went to the presidential campaign I got bored. I like politics but NOT when I want more zombies!
just finished up my set in Asia book (Warrior) - so I have 4 books left to finish up and they are all in progress...and 2 12 hour shifts at work tonight and tomorrowThe Gargoyle and A Knight in Shining Armor for the best beginning and endings
Gentle Warrior and Cold Earth for my last 2 5-pointers
I've got White Corridor going for the black and white challenge and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix going for alphabetically speaking.
Finally found a third book to use for 30.7 Forever Young. I was having the devil's job finding a stand alone book but finally read Entangled. Will be doing the black and white challenge next so my next two reads are The Devil You Know by Jenna Black and The White Spider by Heinrich Harrer.
I'm reading The Skull Beneath The Skin for Blast from the Past and getting ready to start The Whole Truth for My Favorite Things
I have three going again. I'm still reading The Skull Beneath The Skin plus I've got The Murder of Roger Ackroyd andAnother Thing to Fall.
Finished reading The Secret Diary of Anne Boleyn by Robin Maxwell. I've been looking at the tasks for the Spring Challenge and they are really hard for me this time round. I'm already missing out 5.7,10.2,10.3,maybe 10.4,10.6,10.9,maybe 15.1,maybe 15.5 if I abandon the one book from this category I have,30.1,maybe 30.3 depending on book approval, and 30.5 will depend on the birthday list. It's not looking good so far!
I'm reading Fatally Flaky for 10.9 Serial Killer and The Horse and His Boy for the 50 pointer. Depending on how it goes, I may try to get in one more task as well.Good luck finding books for the next challenge - there are quite a few places where I have gaps, too.
I've had to add 25.2 on to the can't do list as well! I think I might just be giving this season a miss!
I'm reading An Echo in the Bone - not sure where I'll put it, I can work it into at least 4 different tasks.
I read Crooked Letter, Crooked Letter today during a long afternoon at the dept of motor vehicles. Thank goodness for a good book
I have started the Spring Challenge by working on 30.1 (Degree of Guilt and On the Grind) and 30.4 (Death Tidies Up for one book).
I am listening to The Swan Thieves in the car and am loving it so far. I am also reading The Glass Castle which I am enjoying more than I thought I would. I am reading it for the group read. I have just reread Outlander and I am Number Four has a long wait list at the library.
I am currently reading quite a few books...Twenty Wishes which I started last challenge but didn't finish in time so I need to finish that. For this challenge I have already started Outlander which I set to the side last challenge because I couldn't get into it, but will use it for 20.10 this time. I also started Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince for 5.2, The Book Thief (library book) for 10.7 and Clockwork Angel (Buddy Read) for 30.6.
I'm still working on An Echo in the Bone, it's 820 pages so it will take a while. I'm also reading Extreme Measures
i'm listening to The Girl Who Played with Fire in the car for the translated task (5.10)...then reading Heart of a Samurai for the water scene; Swing for the dance task; The Ghost Wore Yellow Socks for the random words task and Miracle in Seville for the shrimp of a book
Anna, I have Every Man Dies Alone, another Hans Fallada book, on my bookshelf waiting to be read. Have you read it yet?
Petra wrote: "Anna, I have Every Man Dies Alone, another Hans Fallada book, on my bookshelf waiting to be read. Have you read it yet?"Hi Petra, I think it's the same book. As far as I can see it seems to be called 'Alone in Berlin' in the UK but is called 'Everyman Dies Alone' elsewhere. I'm about halfway through now and I'm very impressed with it.
I just finished The Book Thief last night (I cried lol) and I've been listening to The Glass Castle in my car which is great because I've been having some long road trips. I'm working on finally finishing Buddhism for Dummies which I've had from the library for 5 months! lol I'll be happy to get that one done...
I'm reading Zorba the Greek and I can't stand it! I was so excited to finally read this book and I'm so disappointed. I'm also listening to A Golden Age and the narrator is really getting to me. The book has great reviews on goodreads, but I think it was probably a much better read than listen. Having a very disappointing book week!
i'm reading Mine to Possess (for the first book in DLM Rose's task), Warrior's Cross (for a 5 star read by a fan of an author); Coyote's Mate (for an animal in a title) and almost finished listening to The Girl Who Played with Fire (translated book) on the ipod - next up will be Room (for the british/irish award winner task)
I'm still working on An Echo in the Bone plus I'm reading The Rapids and Lemon Meringue Pie Murder just to mix things up a bit.
I have finished On the Grind and Death Tidies Up. I am still working on Degree of Guilt which will complete 30.1 Literature Map task. Now I am reading the second book for 30.4 Like I Needed an Excuse task - Starting from Scratch which is about writing and I am loving it! I am also working on 15.5 Award Me by reading The White Tiger.
Just finished My Turn to Make the Tea and now to decide what to read next. I have a whole raft of books from the library to go through in the next week, plus I need to run through the story I'll be reading to the 2nd graders on Wednesday--Kipling's The Elephant's Child. (I just love saying "the great grey, green greasy banks of the Limpopo River all set about with fever trees.")
I'm working my way through The Year of Living Biblically: One Man's Humble Quest to Follow the Bible As Literally As Possible - it's good, but can be repetitive, so I'm taking it in small chunks. I'm also listening to Me Talk Pretty One Day on audiobook in my studio and I think I'm gonna start The Color Purple tonight.
