Mark OFS (brbearofs) | 10 comments I wanted to start this thread as a spin off from a discussion that was started in a discussion about Open Source Software ( Windows/Linux/*nix etc ) As a place to begin to gather sources for those who love open source software and sources and suggestions for how to use them / Tips and Tricks /How To's etc.

Jim Bowering (arjaybe) | 86 comments I'm using MX Linux with LibreOffice, Calibre, Audacity and GIMP as my main book production software. Unfortunately, my fountain pens are proprietary.-)

Mark OFS (brbearofs) | 10 comments I use a variety of OS's that by necessity ( although that is coming to a rapid close ) includes Win-ders Linux ( puppy, Debian, and Mint) and for software, Open Office, Calibre as well , and Gimp. Although like you I am a total rookie at Gimp.. Found myself wishing that there was someone who used it well it enough to leave a tutorial on the web somewhere that assists in doing covers !

That was the biggest frustration I had.. and everytime someone said .. well heres the way you do it in Adobe ( Pick a product here) , you just wanted to whomp them in a gentle loving way LOL
