Darren Maskowitz (squitz) | 4 comments I read this book as a pre-teen/young teen in the mid 90's. My dad brought home from a thrift store, so I don't know how old the book was when I got a hold of it. It is a fairly small book, only 100ish pages. I don't remember many of the stories because they really scared me at that young age; but here are the details of the ones I do remember (spoilers I guess):

A story of a young man who's father tells him on his 21st(18th?) birthday that their family are cannibals, and that his mom never left them, his father killed and ate her. The father reveals that the roast they just finished eating was the last piece of the mother, kept just for this meal. The son then kills and butchers his father, then reports him missing to the police; eventually having one of the officers over and secretly serving some of his father for supper.

A story of a werewolf and a girl who loves him and wants to be a werewolf too, so she can be with him. When he bites her to turn her, he goes into a bloodlust and murders her instead.

A story of a man whose girlfriend tells him that if he kills her in a specific ritualistic way, she will come back to life. The rest of the story is a rather graphic description of the way he kills her and cuts her body with a razor blade. She doesn't come back to life, and then he goes to buy more razor blades. (end of story, but presumably he goes on to be a serial killer)

Darren Maskowitz (squitz) | 4 comments The cover is pretty plain to my recollection. Just white, title on top, a picture underneath that that left a white border all around it. Like Ray Bradbury's Something Wicked This Way Comes http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/24... but white not black.

It was long enough ago that all I remember of the picture is that it was dark, a silhouette of a person(or maybe a werewolf?) Maybe a full moon or twilight sky for background.

Darren Maskowitz (squitz) | 4 comments I got a reply on reddit, where I posted the same request, suggesting "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark" by Alvin Schwartz, but I tracked down a copy, and it's not that book (nor series). Though the edition with the clown face on the cover reminds me of the book I'm looking for, and got my hopes up.

As a follow up, I don't remember any illustrations in the book I'm looking for, which may help narrow it down.

Darren Maskowitz (squitz) | 4 comments Turn out that my parents kept a bunch of the books I left behind and boxed them up for a point when I would have kids old enough to enjoy them. Now that my oldest is 12 I was sent a box, and found that this book was in it. The book is older than I realized, published in 1974, it's "Vampires, Werewolves and Other Monsters" https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/4...

And the white cover I remember is just the spine and back cover.
