Hi everyone! Welcome to team 1. :)Almeta - captain
Kristie - co-captain
Carol
Valerie
Vicki
Roz
Amanda
Does anyone have any suggestions for a team name?
Counting One's Blessings/Books (same thing)One for the Books
Taking care of Number 1
Just throwing those out there, I think we can do better :P
Hi team 1. Sorry it took so long to say hello. I was experiencing several technical difficulties this morning. Things are looking better this afternoon. Thanks Kristie for sending out a welcome to the team.

Vicki, I like your name ideas. I can think of no others that would be better. Maybe some of our other teammates will think of something.
I like your suggestions too, Vicki. It's tough to pick one, but since we can only have one name my vote would be for One for the Books. Although I do like the idea of "counting" in the name too. I also thought of: All for one and one for the win. I'm not sure if the number in the title of The Three Musketeers had any influence. lol I'd be happy with any of the suggestions though.
I think I'm going to start the toppler with Thirteen and The Fourth Monkey.
fits 1, 4, 6, 8
fits 1, 4, 6, 7 Anyone else have any ideas of what they might be reading?
Kristie wrote: "I think I'm going to start the toppler with Thirteen and The Fourth Monkey...."Here's my review of The Fourth Monkey:
"Nauseatingly tense. I couldn't look away and dreaded turning the page! Wonderfully disturbing ride!
Gasp...there is a sequel!☻"
Kristie wrote: "Anyone else have any ideas of what they might be reading?..."I think I'll start out with Two for the Lions for the extra points.

Yikes! lol
The third book just came out in August and I picked it up through NetGalley to review. I haven't even read the first tow yet! I hope I love them because it looks like I'm in for the long haul now.
I'd like to read Nine Perfect Strangers. My library hold just came in yesterday. It would work for 3, 6, 8, 9.
Amanda wrote: "I'd like to read Nine Perfect Strangers. My library hold just came in yesterday. It would work for 3, 6, 8, 9."Nice, Amanda! I have that on my TBR. I'll be interested to see what you think of it.
I have no idea how to approach this, but thought I’d gather all of my 175-200 page options together Wednesday or Thursday and see what options they present. Is there better approach? Lord, I’m glad you guys are in charge and can advise.Oh! Team name. Yes to all suggestions :)
Any book you have should fit at least one number. I think collecting a bunch of books is a great idea. Almeta will keep us notified of which numbers we need and if you're open to it, you could choose your next book based off that information. I think it's probably going to be pretty open to start, but I'll let Almeta tell us her plan for keeping organized and how we can help her.
Amanda wrote: "I'd like to read Nine Perfect Strangers. My library hold just came in yesterday. It would work for 3, 6, 8, 9."Good pick for extra points!
Carol wrote: "I have no idea how to approach this, but thought I’d gather all of my 175-200 page options together Wednesday or Thursday and see what options they present. Is there better approach? ..."If you have the time to read more than one book, your strategy is a good one Carol. Choosing shorter reads means you are more likely to have time for more than one. Every book is worth ten points.
If you have the stamina, don't forget that a book with 400 pages or more, earns an additional 5 points. Still, if you aren't able to read several books during the week, it is better to read two 200 page books (20 points), than to read one 400 page book (15 points).
Look for books with a number in the title first. Those will give us 5 extra points.
MOST important, pick books that you will enjoy and have a good time! ☺
Put your thinking caps on. We need a name.
Suggested so far are:
Counting One's Blessings/Books (same thing)
One for the Books
Taking care of Number 1
All for one and one for the win
Here's some more ideas:
Ones that Count
Getting Down for the Count
Count to Nine
Countdown to (?) (Noon) (One) (the Hits) (Blastoff)
The Final Countdown
Critical Countdown
Ah-Countable Ones (Accountable)
Count on Us
One Can Count Upon It
Let Us Count the Ways
What have you thought of?
You can count on me for at least 2 books -- one to read and one to listen to. I'm hoping for more, but we'll see. I know I have a lot of number books but like Kristie said, any book will fit. I'm starting my gophering today.

and
Ah-countable Ones
I keep flipflopping on what books I'm going to read so I haven't posted any yet. I can probably do 3.
Any other support for one of the names submitted? So far we have a nod for:
One for the Books
Ones that Count
Ah-Countable Ones
Count on Us
If not, I'm going to throw them into the fruit machine for the final decision.☻

I'll start with Paris, 7 A.M. (I have the audio book downloaded already to go) and The First Time I Said Goodbye ( I own it so that's easy).
Roz wrote: "I'll start with Paris, 7 A.M. (I have the audio book downloaded already to go) and The First Time I Said Goodbye ( I own it so that's easy)."That's Great! It would complete the first set.

Ah-Countable Ones we are!
I think we should change our name to:Ah Ah Ah-Countable Ones
"Ah Ah Ah" is the sound that the Count makes when he laughs.
COUNTING BATS
WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Love it!
I'm here! Been sick and work has been super busy this week and for a minute there I was thinking I'd missed most of the toppler but looks like it's next week! Whew! Gonna do some gophering, are there any numbers still needed?
Ok, did some gophering just now. The only book I own but haven't read yet with numbers in the title is 4:50 from Paddington by Agatha Christie. It would fit 1, 4, 5, or 7. I can probably squeeze in one other book as well and have options for most numbers.

Welcome Valerie!! We've been looking for you everywhere! Looks as though you are feeling better, and have been getting ready to play. Glad to have you on our team.
So far we've been able to choose enough books that qualify to fill one set of numbers, We are now speculating on what we need for Round Two.
Books qualifying for 3, 5 and 7 appeared to be the more difficult to find in the first round. 4:50 from Paddington with a 1, 4, 5, or 7 fit looks like a good choice.
I put you down for that one. If you find you want to swap for a different one, it will not be a problem to change.
When you have time can you identify which edition you are going to read,? Maybe find the html link or give me the ISBN?
Again Welcome. Have fun gophering for the perfect second book. ***grin***
ATTENTION AH-COUNTABLES
Start gophering for qualifiers for 1, 3, 4, 6 and 8 to complete round two.
I *may* be able to read a second book. If I can, I'm thinking of Between Noon & Three: Romance, Law & the Outrage of Grace.number of pages: 308
pub date: 1/20/97
first published:
series:
if audio, add length:
fits numbers: 1,3,7,8
