Trying to track down a book with the vaguest of information

This is a long shot but if anyone can help it's you good folk out there.

In the mid to late 1960s I as a little boy heard a snippet of a review on the radio. I think it was a children's book. The book starts as an historic story with various groups fighting one another but then a character sees a post with writing on he doesn't understand it reads " Radio and tv Deal".

This has always intrigued me.

If anyone has any ideas please let me know
