I'm so happy to hear that! I really did try to make the story as human and fun as possible despite the challenges the crew faced ... cartwheels and backflips along the way. I enjoyed The Martian, but I think it got bogged down with too much technical mumbo jumbo, so I made sure to limit that while still writing a legit Mars book. One of my favorite parts was writing Nikki reacting to the talking space truck with Elon's voice, and then Jo and Pluto discovering Carl Sagan (one of the space gurus of my youth) as the AI voice in their truck. That's something I didn't plan at the start of the book and it just kind of came to me along the way. It helps that Elon also runs Tesla, so the idea made complete sense and could actually happen.

Thanks Terry. He might get a kick out of it ... or he might send me a cease-and-desist letter and I'll have to change his name to Nole Ksum, CEO of the company XSpace!
