Do the books have characters and/or universes in common?

Yes. These new books are newly written to fit the new series (so they actually don't fit the old series anymore as the characters, storylines, worlds have changed -- but I can't seem to do anything about that old Heroes Out of Uniform series that's showing up on the old, different versions of these stories, which was really just 5 unconnected heroes who happened to be military). Thank you for your help. Please note that I'll be out of pocket without a stable internet connection for the next few weeks so if you have another question I likely won't be able to see it/respond to it until the end of the month. Thank you again for all your help! I really appreciate it! :)
