Please help

I am in a massive book funk at the moment. I cant find a series at the moment that keeps me interested for more than 1 or 2 books. I find a series that seems promising, i get a few books into the series and then when i start the next book it cant hold my intrest for more than i few chapters before a have to put it down through annoyance. I really enjoy reading series and trilogys but i need to find some that will grab hold of me and wont let me go. Please can you help me with some series and trilogy suggestions that may help with my problem.

The runelords series by david farland, The sword of shannara trilogy by terry brooks, shadowdance trilogy by david daglish, shadows of the apt series by adrian tchaikovsky, valour (faithful and the fallen book 2) by john gwynne, tower lord book 2 of ravens shadow by anthony ryan, saga of recluse by l.e. modesitt jr., the five kingdoms series by toby neighbors, the morcyth saga bybrian s. pratt, the sorcerers ring series by morgan rice, the wars of light and shadow series by janny wurts. They are the most recent haha.

Well have you tried reading the Mistborn series by Brandon Sanderson.
The lightbringer series by Brent Weeks
The gentleman bastards series by Scott Lynch
The dark tower series by Stephen King.

I'm recommending the following trilogies "all in chronological order" by the same author, Robin Hobb

The Farseer Trilogy
The Liveship Traders
The Tawny Man series
The Rainwild Chronicles (quartet)
and now starting a new series, but it's pointless to read if you've not read the above list.

They are a good set of books Ian.

What is it about these series that turned you off to them? Character change over the course of the books? Same old adventures every time? No sense of progress or growth?
Do you only read fantasy series? I would recommend the Vorkosigan saga if you were more interested in Sf.

I'd recommend the Sorcery ascendant series by Mitchell Hogan. It's very good and it has a very interesting magic system. Currently the series only has a couple of books.

I forgot to suggest Jim Butcher's Codex Alera series, as well as the Dresden Files written by the same author. Appologies if you've all ready read my suggestions. Without knowing what turns you off the series I can't make any more certain suggestions.

Marc it was a combination really that put me off. Annoying characters, change in story style, Stupid storylines things like that. The one that annoyed me the most was tower lord by Anthony ryan I absolutely loved the first book blood song its the best book I have read all year and I was really excited about tower lord but it disappointed massively.

I have read the first book of sorcerers ascendant and I enjoyed it. I have read both codex alera and Dresden files and loved them, Dresden files is one of my fave series.

I read game of thrones first few books and enjoyed them but then I read one with endless chapters about dany and it bored the hell out me.

It sounds to me like you should try reading something from a different genre, just for a change. Sometimes all the tropes get a bit too familiar and stick out too much. A switch can freshen things up and be more interesting.

If you want to follow Michele's suggestion and switch genres I'd recommend the Lost Fleet series by Jack Campbell. It's a military science fiction series, this really had me hooked.

You could give Glen Cook's Black Company series a try. I was sad to finish the series. Different from your usual Fantasy fare.

The Drizzt Do'Urden books by R.A. Salvatore (beginning with The Dark Elf series since the first three were best, IMO.) were pretty good, though after a while the series got old for me. That was not until the 12th book or so.

Maybe I can recommend something? I like how Michele put it, starting a completely new genre.

I was really impressed with Dreams and Shadows. His writing style is unique, very TV show-esq. It's about the fairy world, Hell and Heaven, but mostly Hell. There's djinn, the devil, fallen angels and young boys, both a human child and a changeling, so there is the element of fantasy. It's surprisingly dark, even though kids are involved, and a really disturbing "Wrong Turn" episode where campers are involved and....
Yeah, disturbing.

His second in the series is out, I haven't gotten round to it yet, but I enjoyed the characters, a LOT, so I'll be reading it soon enough.

Maybe someone can recommend something in that "area" for me.

Jhereg great series, I just found out they might be in audio, will be one of my next move's.
One thing I would suggest, try some anthology's i would recommend At Hell's Gates as a great look into many author's works and goes to a good charity. You have so many great authors in fantasy ,sci-fi, military ect Oh Mark greaney's Gray man series 4 novels now I got them in audio,Larry corriea, tim marquitz, really just throwing some out there who know's what you might like, of course there is always Elric or david gemmell alone will keep you going for years of reading.

If your looking for something similar to Dresden I recommend the Hellequin series by Steve McHugh. There's only three books in the series and I'm all ready addicted. Again in the same vain as Dresden, Kate daniels series by Ilona Andrews, excellent series. Also the Alex Verus series, as well as the Peter Grant series respectively written by Benedict Jacka and Ben Aaronovitch are very good. Very much in the same style as Dresden.

Cristina, there are plenty of knockers out there about the Inheritance series, but I would give all of them 5 stars. One of the best series I've ever read.
