Rachel N. | 2262 comments Kvothe is known throughout the world but he is currently living in a remote town as a innkeeper waiting to die. The chronicler follows rumors and finds Kvothe. He convinces Kvothe to tell him his life story. Kvothe agrees to tell the story over three nights. This covers the first night which is Kvothe's childhood through his first year at University where he learns to use Sympathy, a form of magic.
Kvothe is okay, though a bit egotistical at times. This book is just very long and detailed. Not a lot happens until the last 200 pages. I'm interested enough that I'd like to find out what else happens to Kvothe but I'm not in a huge hurry to read the next book, especially since the third one isn't published yet.

Meli (melihooker) | 4165 comments I felt quite the same, but I landed at 4 because I thought the writing and storytelling was really good.

Scared to read the second installment though because it is 2x as long!
