Daisy (daisyporter) | 1200 comments I could've sworn this was by Sarah Bird, but I'm not finding anything by her that matches. It was set in Texas and had her wry tone. I read it in the late 90s, maybe.

The main character was a young woman who worked in the archives of a Lady Bird Johnson library, or probably the Lyndon Baines Johnson presidential library but she was working on the Lady Bird section. Her job was to go through tons of minutiae but sometimes she found something interesting. Once she found a piece of cake that was decades old but had been preserved for this collection.

Her colleague was a man who basically lay around and did nothing, or slept behind piles of boxes, but she didn't mind because she enjoyed the work. I believe they ended up dating but I'm not sure. TIA for any help!

Author mentioned - Sarah Bird

Daisy, what's the tone in addition to being wry - e.g., romantic, angsty, steamy/clean, funny, chick lit, sad/somber at times?

Daisy (daisyporter) | 1200 comments I'm so glad you asked this because I found the book! It WAS by Sarah Bird, but it wasn't the main plot; it was part of Alamo House. Thank you for your help.
