There's a Sherlock-y dog, and I think his name is a pun somehow. This may have been part of a series, but I'm specifically thinking of the Valentine's Day one. The red ruby necklace/collar is stolen while everyone is out on a cruise. They realize it's been replaced with a fake after it gets wet and the red rubs off.
