Laurie (barksbooks) (barklesswagmore) | 505 comments This is the spot to post your thoughts on Part 1, pages 1 - 92. Feel free to spoil away. If you haven't read this far yet, please turn away or risk being spoilered.

Cécile | 56 comments When I start the book I was pleased to see the characters look so much the ones in my new book (a horror fiction but in french).
It is what I enjoyed the most, the sisters and their relashionship. I like weird teenager and I like story focused in psychology ! ^^

Laurie (barksbooks) (barklesswagmore) | 505 comments I'm only about 30 pages in but I'm enjoying the writing and I want to know why Skye was nicknamed Psycho Skye at her previous school and learn more about Deidre. The author hints at a lot of weirdness simmering here under the surface and I can't wait to discover it all.

Laurie (barksbooks) (barklesswagmore) | 505 comments I may have to put this aside until I finish SAWKILL GIRLS. I keep confusing the two in my head and it’s slowing me way down.

Shainlock Mine is coming in. Borrowed from the library. By then maybe everyone will have finished Sawkill Girls.

Laurie (barksbooks) (barklesswagmore) | 505 comments How are you doing with our second group read? I have decided to let it breathe for a bit because there were too many similar elements to SAWKILL GIRLS and the relationship between the sisters, though realistic, wasn’t working for me. I am anxious to hear everyone’s thoughts. Are you finding the content as creepy as the cover?

Kimberly Godwin (kgodwin) | 29 comments I like the weaving of past and present in this section to provide the context for Skye's guilt. I'm sure that she's replaying this sequence of events as she tries to understand what is going on and where she failed Deirdre.

message 8: by Latasha (new)

Latasha (latasha513) i started this today. i don't know ladies...these girls are getting on my nerves bad!

Laurie (barksbooks) (barklesswagmore) | 505 comments Yeah, I had the same struggle. One is odd for her age and the other is unlikeable, at least in part one.

message 10: by Latasha (new)

Latasha (latasha513) I agree.

exorcismemily (exorcismofemilyreed) | 43 comments I started it last night & I really like it so far. Very interested to see what happens. It kind of reminds me of The Missing Season by Gillian French, if anyone has read that.

message 12: by Latasha (new)

Latasha (latasha513) I haven’t read that.

Laurie (barksbooks) (barklesswagmore) | 505 comments Tell me how part two goes @emily. I still have it waiting in the wings.

Käthe | 22 comments I’m glad I haven’t started sawkill yet, good to know these two books are similar. I will finish this first before starting it.
I had some issues with the first few pages of this book. It was just all over the place. I’m still not into it, but will press on out of curiosity and the hope it gets better.

I hope it gets better for you. It's still sitting on my nightstand waiting for me to pick it back up.

Kerry (kerryebblack) | 92 comments My library only had one copy of this book, so it took a long time for me to get it. However, now I have it and look forward to participating in the group read with you all. (I'm so glad I found your discussions!)

Kerry (kerryebblack) | 92 comments So far, I'm on like page 12, and Deirdre's missing. Leaves and branches in the bed.

My impression at this point is "fairies" took her. The dark kind that lurk in the darkest of the Grimm tales and haunt the oldest woodlands. My question is where Skye's feeling of guilt comes in. Guess I'll discover if my thoughts are founded and the answer to my question as I read.

I'll write more as I read.
