Carrie-Anne Graphic novels are super quick and easy to read, so that's always an option.

Read a book you already know you love, then you don't feel like it's a chore to get through cause you already know what's going to happen. You don't have to pay as much attention to it.

If there's a genre you love give a book in that a read, something easy like a cute contemporary or middle grade rather than a high fantasy or complex thriller where you have to think more.

But sometimes just don't read anything. Watch some Netflix, enjoy some youtube. If you try and force yourself to read a book you might end up not enjoying it, even if you would have if you read it in the right mood.

Personally for me, if I just don't read anything for a week I can then go on and read a bunch in the next few weeks. So having that break means I'll read more, rather than taking 2 weeks to slog through one book and not really enjoy it.

Thank you everyone! I will be trying ALL of this lol I feel like I’m looking for something with the right *mood* but I’m not even sure what that is???

I have some audiobooks I’ll try on my commute and see if that gives me my spark back! I have two graphic novels that are staring me in the face that I’ll pick up tonight and see what happens.

You are all amazing people so thank you ❤️❤️

Sahar Sultani | 1 comments Guys, I really need help. I'm in a big big reading slump. Whenever I start a book i immediately feel like going to Netflix and YouTube. I cannot read even one chapter. I've started at least 8-10 books but failed to continue. please help, I'm so full of guilt. What shall I do, what shall I read?*crying badly*

Kat koutroumbis (shmaterina) | 1 comments 1) Re-read a favorite book! whenever I'm in a slump I read "Carry On" by Rainbow Rowell.
Or
2) Allow yourself not to read for a little. Sometimes I feel like forcing yourself to read while in a slump makes it worse. Don't feel guilty about it. You will miss reading and WANT to return to it.
Good luck!

Tracy Frenette (tfrenette) | 3 comments I always switch to a different genre when I feel a slump coming on. it has worked for me the last couple of years. if I get burned out on thrillers, I will read a fantasy or a YA and it always helps.

Bailey Grimm I feel like I've never had a reading slump. I've always read books kind of slowly and if I'm not really feeling a book I just make myself read it.

I was slumpy throughout June and July - basically just don't read. There's no point forcing yourself to read or feeling 'guilty' (guilty of what??) because all you do is read mediocre books - even if you'd possibly really like them in a different mood.

I read 5 books in July, which doesn't sound super slumpy, but every single one was meh and I found myself picking faults or being more annoyed at tropes or things I'm normally not too fussed about.

Just go watch Netflix or draw or walk. You don't need to be constantly reading, and the more you push it the more slumpy you'll get cause you'll wonder 'why are all the books soooo bad???' - they're bad because you're in a slump!
