My review: R.E delivers strong sexy alpha males every single time and she always manages to set a scene beautifully allowing me to immerse myself in the worlds she creates, where I am happy to stay until the very end of the book and I am usually desperate for more.
There's something about this series I really, really like. I love a good werewolf book and this is truly one of my faves, it has everything I love - pack hierarchies, dominance challenges, were-human interactions, pack politics and in the middle of it a heroine that is likeable and easy to relate to. Acksel really needed a kick up the bum in the early pages but you could feel his inner struggle as he dealt with the fall-out from the first book and what it meant for the pack. I think his stubbornness, pig-headedness and unwillingness to go after what he wanted played a huge part in his decision rather than it all being about Brynn and her safety. I can't wait to read the next one, there are quite a few characters that I am patiently waiting to get to know better!

I may change my CH book if I find a shifter one that counts. I really want to read this -

REVIEW:
This was one of the books I read for pure decadence, and nothing else. Had I been looking for something serious to read, I would have been seriously pissed off with this book and would have given it a 1-star rating. As it was, there were a lot that bothered me, yes. But since, it did give me the relaxing, mindless read I wanted, and as I enjoyed it quite a bit, I am giving it a slightly higher rating.
The main problem with this book was that it read like a second draft rather than the final publication. By that, I mean, there were a lot of plot holes, 'really?' moments, TSTL-ness of the heroine, unbelievable actions and reactions by the characters in the story, mixed with promising parts and intelligent twists. Had the story been polished further to remove the bad parts, it would made a decent enough read. As it was, this book left me feeling less than impressed.

And for CH probably

With D & L we get 4 in a row.
With Freespace & LO we get 3 in a row.
With Freespace & HA we get 3 in a row.
So we are missing 1 review for Freespace, 1 for LO, 2 for HA, and
Happy Reading!

I think I will be reading
L:

CH:

(bought with gift card)

Just thought I'd mention the 4 in a row, as several teams will have it as well, so you never know what could happen next week.
So everyone should concentrate on D & L, then the other books if you have time :)

Review:
I seem to have a memory lapse when it comes to this series and I forget how powerful, emotional and well written it is in between books. And then I start reading and am struck anew by the story and the characters and the world they inhabit. It combines my favorite things, historical romance with paranormal elements and add in a little steampunk and fae. What more could I ask. This one continues the story and centers around William Thorne, who is a Sanquis and Holly Evernight, an Elemental and inventor who contributed to his receiving a clockwork heart. He is slowly being overtaken by platinum because of this and comes to kill her. Their relationship moves forward from here and it is quite a ride. I completely fell in love with these two difficult people and rooted for them to find a way to be together. Great stuff!!

ETA: I'm going to read Lady Macbeth: Daughter of Ravens for L shelf. (free ebook via blog tour).

Review: This was a quick, easy read. However, there was just something off in the dialogue or the narrative. Not sure which at this point. But it was an okay romance set in a small town.

Smiley is our first Primate New Species character and that brought a totally different vibe than the usual me alpha you jane routine.
Vanni is a little naive when it comes to men. She likes to think she is more open-minded and positive than her sister Mia, who is a downer. But she was pretty clueless about her fiance Carl, son of the NSO protestor Rev Graham Asshat and his cult Church.
They had a nefarious scheme to trap a woman and an NSO officer with the breeding drug, hopefully with him killing her in a drug induced frenzy, and all caught on video. Needless, Vanni accidently becomes that woman.
Whilst Smiley wasn't an aggressive in-your-face Alpha, he was totally all about Vanni. Anything to make her happy and safe, including some great smexy times.
I'm changing my D book to

My choice for CH shelf-

Not sure about the L shelf, though I have got

Interesting spin-off of famous story about Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde.
The Diabolical Miss Hyde is about their daughter Eliza. It was much darker book than I was expected from steampunk novel with such typical cover. Big part was Eliza's inner turmoil and fight to accept her alter ego Lizzie Hyde. And there was murderer to catch since Dr. Eliza works as medical investigator for police.
A bit out of my comfort zone (tough subject of mental instability and murder mystery) but I liked it.

I will read

And I will read

Both of these books were purchased with an Amazon gift card. Yay!!

Almost done with my L book. I'm going to read: The Secrets of Sir Richard Kenworthy for CH. (source: Edelweiss)

My Review: I loved this one like all of Eve's books. Her shifters are fantastic and I loved how growly and laid back Reid was and how feisty Tammy was. It's nice to see a curvier girl getting a HEA without all the putdowns and self hate. I'll definitely be reading the next one!

It would be really bad if I was behind *snigger* I'd never live it down.
Just over half way with my CH book. Not bad but the writing is a bit clunky.

Not on your life Leslie, you've done the important shelves now just enjoy some books like Nalini Singh (I liked that one)
Updated to here.

D -
L - 2 missing
Freespace - 1 missing
HA -
LO - 1 missing
CH -
I'm done with my D book. I'll post the review soon. So, according to the stats in post 232, I should tackle the L book first, followed by the freespace, then LO and finally CH. Correct?

Alexina is a Scottish 40-something Divorcee. Normal, boring, works in IT at a bank.
Zach is a couple-of-hundred yrs old Vampire. He works for the Supernatural Council, policing the rogues. He has been tasked with making sure Alex is safe. He can't see that being a problem, nothing happens in her life, though he has been fantasizing about her while watching.
Turns out Demons want to escape Hell and the only thing keeping them there is Alex's blood.
I enjoyed the story but the writing was a bit clunky. Alex is Scottish but we don't see her dialogue slip into Scots speak, yet Duncan's dialogue does, totally unnecessary, especially as none of the other Scots have that problem either. Duncan is the local Alpha werewolf.
I'd have to say that this story is also strung out at the end. Usually I deplore a hurried rushed ending, and I can now state that I deplore a rambling waste of my time as well. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy basking in a HEA as much as the next person, BUT this was messy, weeks turning into months with nothing happening that could of been resolved much sooner.
I may or may not continue with the series.

It was just all wrong. Why have only one character speak in brogue??? Especially as they were in Scotland, the first time, and every character bar the H was Scottish. When they were there the 2nd time, there were a few more Americans but still plenty of Scots and Duncan was still the only one speaking brogue. It just felt forced and ridiculous.

My review: I really liked this one, I haven't read the rest of the Tales of the Were series but I was still able to enjoy this one fully and I will definitely go back and read the others. I am fascinated by the mythology and intrigued by some of the other characters. I have been on a shifter kick lately and this was definitely another good one!

REVIEW:
Seventh Grave and No Body is another treat for fans of the Charley Davidson series. In some ways, this book follows the trend of the previous books- multiple plot lines, a snarky Charley, awesome set of sidekicks and supporting characters, and of course, the sexy Reyes Farrow.
Yet this book turns out to be so much more- it is a bit serious for one. A bit.. not much... Because, hey, it's Charley! Charley is now pregnant and is freaking out about how to take care of the girl-to-be-born. There are twelve hounds from hell dubbed The Twelve out to tear her limb from limb, and Reyes is determined to protect her by remaining with her constantly. Adding to the worry, her father is missing and has not been heard from for so long. Also, there seems to be more to The Prophecy, and Reyes has to contend with Charley trusting the Dealer. There is a ghost with a missing body and several similar suicide notes have been written by people who seemed to have disappeared soon after writing it, and it's up to Charley to get to the bottom of this mystery! In other words, just another normal day in Charley's life.
But, that ending! I did not expect that! At all.
I totally loved this book. I cannot wait to read the next book- Eighth Grave After Dark. May 2015 can't come soon enough!

REVIEW:
Spell Check is a middle grade, young adult story.
It all begins with our heroine Allyson Katrine Peterson(nick-named 'Ally Kat' by her arch nemesis) being the recipient of a cruel prank- she is strung up a tree, strings are thrown on her, and is left shivering upon the tree, until help comes in the form of her major crush Jack, who is incidentally the boyfriend of said arch nemesis Lisa Snoddy. And, all this embarrassment on her sixteenth birthday too!
But, things start becoming weider after that fateful day- for one, all her wishes are becoming true. While this might sound good, it ends up creating a major havoc in Ally's life-she unintentionally makes the whole cheerleader team sick, gives Lisa Snoddy aka arch nemesis a green hair and equally horrible nails, sends her divorced parents to fight anacondas in the Amazon forests, brings Lisa Snoddy to said forests and makes her younger brother mute.
Thank god, her grandmother comes to her rescue and explains what exactly is happening- Ally is a witch- a Troll Kvinna, and she has to face the Troll Trials which happened to be on Halloween-the next day, after fixing the mess Ally's wishes have landed her into. The trials have only just begun for Ally, who finds herself totally unprepared. When a supposed shadow of the past imprisons Jake, her almost-boyfriend, and threatens his life if Ally does not surrender her powers during the Troll Trials, Ally faces a tough time, indeed.
I thought at first that I was not going to like this book, especially during the first chapter. But once Allison came into her wishes, thing began to get interesting! The actual trials at the end were also well-imagined, indeed! The author does have a vivid imagination, which is evident in the way she brings forth the plot in this book.
I had so much fun reading this book. It has been quite some time since I have enjoyed a middle grade book so much! There are some logical mistakes, but hey, this book is purely for fun and nothing else. In that aspect, it achieves its goal.
If you love middle grade book, high school books with a twist of supernatural, humorous book, bizarre and weird books, or something light and fun, this book is for you.

Review:
I struggled with this one a little bit, but even while struggling - it's still a good book. Janvier is a wonderful, warm witty character and I love the fact that it's never any question about how he feels for Ashwini. She is more complex and difficult and yet there aren't any questions about her feelings either. There is a murder mystery to solve and it is a good one, though occasionally the story gets bogged down in it and in the activities of the secondary characters. But the best secondary character is Nassir - he is amazing and I can't wait to read his story.

And Preethi, I'm looking forward to Seventh grave, I think I'm up to 6 :)

Since fairy tale retellings are your weak spot (like mine) you should definitely not read my last sentence. :D
