When Kvothe's blood started boiling, I definitely thought it was Ambrose with blood from the roofing tile. Wil and Sim are right that Devi makes more sense in a lot of ways. But still, I kind of agree with Kvothe that I wouldn't expect Devi to do it - even if she is upset that he wouldn't break her into the Archives or sleep with her.

(view spoiler)[It's too bad Kvothe has to leave the University for a bit. Although come to think of it, he's not really accomplishing what he wanted to there. He mostly wanted access to the Archives so he could research the Chandrian, but he hasn't found any useful info yet. And he's not making much naming progress with Master Elodin either. I don't see how the Maer's plan to have Kvothe court this woman for him makes any sense. That's not really the kind of job you can delegate, and Kvothe's not exactly an accomplished ladies' man either. Foiling an attempted murder seems much more up Kvothe's alley.

So the wooing is going all right it seems... This doesn't make sense to me. Wouldn't the woman notice when the Maer in person sounds nothing like the letters he sends her? And earlier the Maer said proudly that he didn't want to use his position to get her too marry him, he wanted her to marry him for himself. But apparently he isn't above passing off someone else's letters as his own?

Ugh this whole section is making me so mad. I hate Vashet and most of the other Adem for being so arrogant. It especially makes me upset when she says mean things about Tempi, who I really like. And sure, Kvothe deserved to be taken down a peg, but they treat him like dirt. He is constantly insulted and beaten and given no say in his own life. I hope he can move on to another stage of his life soon.

So far I am finding this extremely boring. Auri was never my favorite character from the other books, and she is no better in a book all her own. I would probably DNF except the book is so short I might as well just grit my teeth and get though it,
