List some of your favorites that you would like to see collected in oversized hardcover. Work that has never been collected in OHC before (no reprints). Looking for missed opportunities, untapped potential!

Can be:
A specific run by a certain creator(s)
A limited series
A specific story arc
Any publisher

Darth Bane | 261 comments A few from my wish list:

Lobster Johnson Omnibus 1 + 2
Ben Reilly Omnibus vol 2
Venomnibus vol 3 + 4 (page count wise gets us approximately up to Donn Cates current run, which is epic and deserving of an omnibus as well)
Paul Dini's Tec run
Absolute Omega Men by King
Dr. Fate omnibus collecting some of his solo series

I've heard Omega men is good and I think it's getting at least a standard size hardcover soon. Is the art that good to warrant the absolute size?

Is Lobster Johnson the character that was created in a contest way back in Savage dragon?

message 4: by Rick (new)

Rick | 41 comments I want to see several omnibuses:

Indiana Jones: The Original Marvel Years (collecting the Raiders adaptation, the Further Adventures of Indiana Jones 1-34, Temple of Doom adaptation, and Last Crusade adaptation).

JLA by Grant Morrison Omnibus.

The Invaders (Marvel’s Original series ran about 40 issues).

Superman by John Byrne Omnibus (Man of Steel 1-6 and all of his other Superman work could fit in one Omni us).

The Defenders Omnibus vol. 1 (the first three masterworks would make a perfect Omnibus).

The Spirit by Darwin Cooke.

Absolute Superman: It’s a Bird with Absolute Batman: A True Dark Night Story.

Sub-Mariner: The Depths Gallery Edition.

Doctor Strange Silver Age Omnibus vol. 2.

Luke Cage Bronze Age Omnibus

Iron Fist Bronze Age Omnibus

Powerman and Iron Fist Bronze Age Omnibus

And a Scott McCloud Craft of Comics Trilogy Omnibus would be really cool (collecting Understanding Comics, Making Comics, and Redefining Comics).

Ran Michael Ekman (ramiek) | 2 comments I'm hopeful for a Jessica Jones new omnibus printing with the second volume Bendis wrote added to it.

Y the last man omnibus is coming out in December (I think?) so that's pretty much my entire wish list...

Excellent suggestions!

I've never even heard of Superman: It's a bird. That would make a nice companion piece to the Dini Batman story.

I'd definitely get a doctor strange v2. I'm quite sure I read they already have a couple volumes mapped out. When the movie sequel comes out will be a good time to keep and eye of agamotto out for that.

I'd be in for a Morrison jla run which I think is inevitable. Just about all his other work is in Omnibus format. I really loved that series.

Man of Steel by Byrne you'd think would be a no brainier but well it is DC.

The McCloud stuff has been on my to read list for awhile.

I'm torn on the Defenders Omnibus. I went ahead and purchased the MMWs but would have preferred the Omnibus.

Was there a Jessica series after Alias or is that the one you are referring to?

DC really seems to be focusing on getting their material in Omnibus form, which is a good thing.

^this right here.
Also every Marvel 2099 run should get the Omnibus treatment.
And Spider-Girl, What if classic and The Exiles need the same.

I've always thought the what if classic should be collected.

Rick | 41 comments The 1970s What If, would be awesome!

Regarding Omega Men's art, I think so! Lots of King-esque 9 panel pages, but then you get hit with a magnetic full page piece and its undeniably epic.

As for LJ, he's a Mignola creation. Pulpy 19th century hero that gets involved in punching Nazi's and fighting skeletons. Very fun read! I'm not too sure about any connection to Savage Dragon though.

Every time I say I want a Spider-Man 2099 omnibus my friends laugh at me haha

Seriously 2099 is probably my favorite "legacy character". Very deserving of a collected edition so new readers can experience him in all his 90s glory

And I assume you mean the very first Spider-Man 2099 series? There was a reboot a few years ago.

I remember reading it when it first came out. Had Peter David's trademark humor. Best of the 2099s at the time I thought.

Of course, I liked that series so much I had Peter David sign my #1 last year at NFCC!

message 15: by Mark (new)

Mark (fossen) After reading The Authority Omnibus, I really wish there would be an OHC of Ellis' Stormwatch run. The "Change or Die" arc is still one of the best arcs in all of comics, and there's no good way to read it right now.

Blindzider | 3293 comments Mod
Yeah I’ve been wanting an absolute stormwatch. There are some fascinating ideas in those stories.

message 17: by Ran (new)

Ran Michael Ekman (ramiek) | 2 comments There were another 18 issues coming out a few years back,
after the original run of the 28 issues of Alias.
They weren't as good, but they were pretty good :)
I liked that they had the same creators and tone of the original run.

Birthright is the first comic that comes to mind. I haven't kept up with the single issues/TPB but I read the first 5 TPB and would love to have this one in hardcover.

The Realm, a post-apocalyptic fantasy Image series

Ether by Matt Kindt with art by Dave Rubin. Two TPB volumes out so far. Would love a Library Edition.

Coda OHC. This fantasy story nominated for an Eisner for best art. I bought all 12 of the single issues but would love some hardcover action.

Starlight by Mark Millar

Volume 2 of the Golden Age Captain American material (mostly so I won't have a lonely volume 1 on my shelf).

Volume two of Claremont's Wolverine.

Claremont's Excaliber

Exiles Omnibus series

Batman - Murder/Fugitive Omnibus, War Games Omnibus, Cataclysm Omnibus. There are probably a few other story arcs I haven't read that seem to get mentioned as significant I wouldn't mind picking up and reading.

Spider-Man 2099 and Doom 2099 Omnibus volumes.

Probably would buy Aaron's Avengers run in omnibus one day when it is complete. Same for War of the Realms.

I'd like to see those Batman stories as well.

I think Excalibur is inevitable and I wouldn't be surprised to see it next year.. For Wolverine, I'm guessing they would just start to collect his first long-running solo series, since V1 covered just about everything before that...

Very much agree. :) I'm torn between wanting a set of multiple Absolutes or a couple omnibus editions.

message 22: by David (new)

David | 6 comments Top of my omnibus want list is DC's 70's run of The Phantom Stranger which would include the Showcase debut and the 41-issue series. Perfect for a one-and-done volume. I would also like to see all Omnibus include the in-house ads of the times.

When I first think about this question, there are only a few that pop in my head immediately. But when I start focusing on publisher or writer . . . There is still, surprisingly to me, many I would want to have. I’ll post more if I can remember to, but for this post I’ll just hit the Image comics I want in DLX HC as sadly image has greatly slowed down HC releases. I’m not including series that have started and I assume will be finished (such as Low).

One or two of these may have been cancelled, in that event, I don’t really want it . . . But would sure like to see a good conclusion and then an DLX.

Birthright
God Country
Curse Words
The Realm
The Old Guard
Seven to Eternity
Elephantmen
Extremity
Undiscovered Country

Invincible, Savage Dragon and Spawn would be nice to have in formats similar to the Walking Dead Slipcases.

I’m sure we will get Ascender.

I wish Snyder would write more or let others write more Wytches stories. I loved it and thought it was a great horror comic creating an interesting world with unique mythology. If there was more, I’d want that too.

Old Man Quill and Old Man Hawkeye could both use some OHC love. The Mark Waid return to Captain American might be worthy of a short OHC.

After the Bendis, Brubaker, and Diggle runs on Dardevil there was a run where the Black Panther came in and took over as Daredevil for a while. I'd like to read that if they put it out in OHC.

Erik, I would be in for most of those as well. I like to think we have a really good chance to get all of Remender's stuff in his Absolute size hardcovers.

I've heard Manifest Destiny is a really fun Image series but they don't plan on doing any hardcovers.

Hickman is getting ready to start a new sci-fi series with Image and I already know I'll be in for it in hardcover before the first issue even comes out. :)

Yes on Hickmans new series. I think I saw an announcement from his Instagram a week or so ago. Excited . . . But not as much as I’d be for Remender announcing something new in this genre ;)

Oddly enough, so far I've liked Hickman's Marvel work much more than his creator owned work. I think Remender's Uncanny X-Force was really good but overall I like his creator owned work more than his Marvel work.
