Taylor | 1 comments I'm trying to remember the name of a book and it's driving me crazy. I read it when I was a little kid so my description is pretty vague. These 2 kids are at a house for some reason and everything seems to be perfect, I think there's something about summer lasting forever but I'm not sure. Some woman runs the house and is always talking about the guy who runs the house but they never see him. At the end it turns out that the guy really is the house and he's a bad guy.

Betelgeuze The book you describe sounds like The Thief of Always A Fable by Clive Barker.

Taylor, are you still looking for this or did you find it?

SamSpayedPI | 2306 comments I second The Thief of Always. It was published in 1992. I just read it, and the plot points match; not exactly, but close enough.

-There are more than two children at the house, but the story focuses on Harvey and Wendell.
-There are four seasons in a day, so the mornings are spring and the afternoons summer (every evening is Halloween and every night is Christmas).
-The woman doesn't "run the house," but she is the cook and is the only adult that has regular contact with the children.
