Yep. what galls me is that she went in KNOWING she wanted more than sex. She knew!!!!

message 102: by Ezi (new) - rated it 4 stars

Ezi Chinny (ezinwanyi) Why is she settling for "nothing"? That's what I need help to understand. She is okay with that. She seems like a bright girl. She wants more so bad. Why doesn't she believe she deserves more?

Kimberly (poweki) | 1713 comments I've just completed chapter 10. I'm listening to the audiobook - which I actually don't recommend. The narrator for Miles' chapters is really annoying and I can't imagine anyone (especially Tate) liking him.

I'll read through some of the spoilers that are identified as before Chapter 10 - but I might just skim through the rest of the discussion. Some of the recent comments make me think I know what happens in the end and, of course, I'd rather find out as I read instead.

Thoughts up to Chapter 10:

Ezi Chinny (ezinwanyi) I am liking the audio actually.

I will try to keep my comments under spoilers so I don't ruin things for you.

Skandia (sfgirl) | 1724 comments The way this book is written, especially the Miles' chapters, is partly visual and I don't think this makes a good audiobook at all. It can't be the same feel.

I can imagine that Miles' chapters sound weird in audio but they are beautiful in writing.

I enjoy the Miles chapters on audio. they sound like he is skipping around and his head is in the cloud etc.
It's light and happy

whereas Tate's chapters have this uncertain tone to it. It's like a person trying to Fake it until you make it.

I only have 2 hours left.

Skandia (sfgirl) | 1724 comments This "liquid thing" with Tate irritated me.

which part? I am so discombobulated right now. I need to read something smutty.

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Smutty? Chapter 5 of cut&run :P

I started the series re-read and I'm doing it slooowly :-)

I am proud of me. So far.

Kimberly (poweki) | 1713 comments I'm on Chapter 29 now.

I'm still not loving the audio. The way the narrator says 'Rachael' is cringeworthy. And he says it A LOT.

Kimberly (poweki) | 1713 comments I agree that it is the 'agreement' - but both parties seem to feel contrary to the nonchalant front they have tried to put up. They say 'I want to be aloof' but then they feel far from aloof.

At 23-24 years of age, they're still young but I guess I'd just expect them to be a bit more honest about how they really feel, rather than trying to maintain a dishonest (and probably unnecessary) front.

What I baffles me is that her internal monologue is VERY clear about what she wants. So I don't get why she continues on this path

Kimberly (poweki) | 1713 comments I'm sure he would respect her more if she walked away from him. That'd be the way to test his feelings and give her the opportunity to start to get over him if it really is going nowhere.

I've got about 2 hours left. Maybe I'll be more compassionate later. :)

Ezi Chinny (ezinwanyi) Kim,
Claire is her grandma's name so it belongs to her.

Re your spoiler, of course it takes Rachael because everything is better...with Rachael. That's why I question who had more of his heart...and the sheer intensity of his love

message 127: by Renee (new) - rated it 4 stars

Renee (reneeconoulty) | 3309 comments I finally got hold of a copy of this, then got so busy reading it I forgot there was a buddy read thread. I just finished chapter 19.

I'm curious to find out what exactly happened 6 years ago that is building up in Miles backstory. Lots of steamy romance. Fun read so far.

message 128: by Renee (new) - rated it 4 stars

Renee (reneeconoulty) | 3309 comments Just finished.
I liked how the majority of the book was in current time and the 6 years ago bits were short snippets. (view spoiler)

I had a friend who was in a "no strings attached" relationship. She kept complaining to me when he wouldn't commit, which frustrated me because he was very clear about that from the beginning. (view spoiler)

I felt emotional a few times through the book, but not to the point of tears.
