Looks like these are the books we have left for our clue:

Vicki:
Sea of Shadows for letter S
What You Did for letter W

Jenny: Iniquitous for letter I

message 204: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 3851 comments I should be done with my I book tonight or tomorrow at the latest. If someone else has an I book before I finish mine feel free!

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 5343 comments Thanks, Alaina.

message 206: by Ritika (new)

Ritika Chhabra (justagirlhighonbooks) | 736 comments Hey guys, sorry for the absence. We had this major festival that ended yesterday and I was crazy busy with that. So I couldn't write down my reviews.
Anyway, I ended up finishing a couple of books. They were short and easy to read and that's why I picked them up in that difficult time. Now I'm not sure which of these can I add to counting letters and which are just for page points. So if anyone could help me out here, then please:

The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein The Great Pet Project (Full House Michelle, #1) by Jacqueline Carrol The Ghost Next Door (Goosebumps, #10) by R.L. Stine George's Marvellous Medicine by Roald Dahl Grilled Cheese and Dragons (Princess Pulverizer #1) by Nancy E. Krulik Garvey's Choice by Nikki Grimes

I'm (almost) certain I can strike out letters for these: The Gospel of Yudas by K.R. Meera The Monster Who Wasn't by T.C. Shelley

Apart from that, I also finished 4 volumes of Fairy Tail, Vol. 01 (Fairy Tail, #1) by Hiro Mashima . Will that help me count them toward a letter? I can read one or two more by tomorrow, if they will help.

I've also reviewed the two books I had in the banked tabs. So if somebody is able to help me with these, then I'll gladly see what to do. :)

message 207: by Felicia (last edited Oct 30, 2019 06:27AM) (new)

Felicia | 15003 comments Ritika, I can't help you choose which letters to use because I'm not on your team. But I will let you know that any manga book has to be over 100 pages after you divide the total pages by 4 of the book. So the Fairytale one you mentioned won't work for a letter.

However, for points I add all the manga from one post together then divide by four to get the total points. (so you'll have to put all your manga books into the same comment, not separate.) So for example if the 4 volumes you read added together equals 790 pages you would get 2 points for them.

790 pages divided by 4 = 197.5 which equals 2 points.

message 208: by Ritika (new)

Ritika Chhabra (justagirlhighonbooks) | 736 comments Thanks. What's the minimum page count for poetry books?

message 209: by Felicia (new)

Felicia | 15003 comments Everything has to be over 100 pages. But poetry and plays get divided in half. Not by 4.

message 210: by Ritika (new)

Ritika Chhabra (justagirlhighonbooks) | 736 comments Okay, thanks. And the last one. What happens to the page count of illustrated books? For example, if they have some illustrations. Do they get divided by 4, too?

message 211: by Felicia (new)

Felicia | 15003 comments It really depends how many pages have pictures. If it's only a few like Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (Miss Peregrine's Peculiar Children, #1) by Ransom Riggs . Then you can leave it at regular page count. If it's a significant amount you can divide it in half. But if it's as much as a manga then it'd be by 4.

Ritika,

I'm about to head off to a team lunch but if Vicki and Jenny haven't finished or posted their books yet for the 3 remaining letters and your books happen to fit for them - I can add them once I get back!

message 213: by Alaina (new)

Alaina (ameserole) | 82115 comments Mod
Just did a quick look and it looks like we can add:

Vicki's The Cove (FBI Thriller #1) by Catherine Coulter can be used for W with this edition: Wo keiner dich hört.
Vicki's Dead Until Dark (Sookie Stackhouse, #1) by Charlaine Harris can be used for S.
Ritika's Love Story (Love Story, #1) by Erich Segal can be used for I with this edition: Armastuse lugu

message 214: by Ritika (new)

Ritika Chhabra (justagirlhighonbooks) | 736 comments Thanks! But I just checked the spreadsheet. All the letters are accounted for. Should I use my "I' in place of Jammin Jenny's CR?

message 215: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 3851 comments Yes Ritika go ahead - I haven't finished my book yet.

message 216: by Felicia (new)

Felicia | 15003 comments You know, you guys might finish clues faster if you didn't claim letters for your currently reading books. If you only claimed letters as you finish books you could probably finish clues much faster instead of banking finished books because people are currently reading one. Just saying. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

message 217: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 3851 comments Thanks Felicia. Good advice. Also this goes through December so we have two more months to play this game, right?

Yes, that is correct.

message 219: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 3851 comments When we get our next clue, I think we should fill in everything we can with the banked books, then follow Felicia's advice and only add books to the SS when we are done with them.

message 220: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 5343 comments I’m OK doing that Jenny, but I’m also OK to put books that we are planning to read so that we know what others have but letting somebody put theirs in place of ours if they happen to read a book with that same letter first but I can do it either way.

message 221: by Mayra (new)

Mayra Biggs (mayrasissi) | 133 comments we can add our CR and the TBR to the banked books so we know what letters we'll have . we can highlight the row of the finished ones so we know which ones we can fill the SS

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 3851 comments Hey all.

I moved the two books that weren't finished to the banked books tabbed, and used books that were finished to finish out our second clue.

What clue does everyone want to go for next? Looks like we've done Clue one for all four so far...

Another L book?
A book over 10 years old?
Brandon Sanderson?
A book with NO living things on the cover?

Alaina (ameserole) | 82115 comments Mod
I'm down for any of them really but picking brandon sanderson means we don't get a chance of extra points.

message 226: by Felicia (new)

Felicia | 15003 comments Well, you get extra points. But not the double jeopardy 200. Only 25-100.

Can someone just pick a clue before the day is over? Or should I just choose one at random right now?

message 229: by Jammin Jenny (new)

message 230: by Ritika (last edited Nov 01, 2019 11:24AM) (new)

Ritika Chhabra (justagirlhighonbooks) | 736 comments Let's go with a book with no living creatures on the cover and be done with it. XD

message 231: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 5343 comments I don’t recall doing books over 10 years old. Did we?

message 232: by Mayra (new)

Mayra Biggs (mayrasissi) | 133 comments No we haven’t done the older than 10 yrs old

message 233: by Felicia (new)

Felicia | 15003 comments You have done:

We have done 10 years + with Lord of the Flies. I will go ahead and go No living Creatures

message 235: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 5343 comments I guess I never read any for books 10 years old then because I don’t recall doing any. Maybe I just forgot.

Mayra Biggs (mayrasissi) | 133 comments Ok team! I've gone through the SS and filled out some letters.

Everything highlighted is finished and reviewed, the ones with an X in the column next to the name need to be posted on the Review chat.

Okay guys posted books from the banked tab that Mayra mentioned. Can everyone please remember to remove their book from the banked tab after posting it? Makes zero sense to keep it there.

Also, if someone has a link to their review on the banked tab and it can be posted - PLEASE for the love of god just post it. There's a reason why the links are there and not everyone can get on every single day.

message 246: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 3851 comments Hi Ritika.

You forgot to include a letter for this post:

https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

I looked on our SS but couldn't figure out what letter you were claiming, unless it was from an alternate edition of the book. What letter were you claiming it for?

message 247: by Ritika (new)

Ritika Chhabra (justagirlhighonbooks) | 736 comments No, actually the page count is less than 100 so I was aiming for page points, only.

message 248: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 3851 comments Ahh. Makes sense. Thanks!

message 249: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 5343 comments Is it OK to use an X if the title is Alexander's Bridge, or does the book have to start with an X?

message 250: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 3851 comments I found a book with a word that starts with X - it's really short so I'll read it today...
