As long as you joined the group on the elfster page, you are golden!

What name did you sign up under? I can make sure you are there.

Yes I used that link (the first one you posted on this thread), and I used my FB, which also links to my GR account, so it has my user name from here.

message 105: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (pokey36) If someone's wish list is all linked to Amazon should we assume they only want books from Amazon and not another retailer like All Romance?

message 106: by Ali (new)

Ali Ditto that, Shannon...

I know I added books from amazon because it was easiest, but put a disclaimer saying any would do... maybe we could ask people to state a preferred format somewhere...

~ Lei ~ Reading Is An Adventure ~ (leilanilives2read) | 345 comments I added in my preferences that I use Calibre and buy from others besides Amazon. (To set the preferences, check message 83 in this topic - Sassafras answers my question).

I don't think so. I hooked mine up to Amazon but I don't care where I get my books from. I would send them an anonymous question through Elfster and ask.

message 109: by Beth (new)

Beth (jasonverlander) | 29 comments Just to make sure since I've never done this before:

I find a book on their wishlist that I want to buy them and then I go to Amazon and buy it from there and press "Give as gift" and then send it to the email that is on my Secret Santa's profile?

Yup, or from any other retailer. Just make sure to remove your name/email from the present on Amazon!

How do you do that? I've never bought anyone anything on Amazon except for myself (I'm selfish okay?)

It's very easy. Just follow the prompts!

message 113: by SueM (new)

SueM (4tun8) | 24 comments Yikes! I can't find the name of who I drew... Help please?!

message 114: by finecat (new)

finecat | 91 comments @SueM - On Elfster choose "Groups" from the drop down menu in the upper left hand side of the screen, click on "Goodreads Gift Exchange 2014", scroll down to "Upcoming Exchanges", and the fourth line down says "Your Draw:" which you will then find your giftee :-)

message 115: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (pokey36) I've never gifted a book from All Romance but I don't see how you can send the actual book. I'm guessing you have to buy Omni Bucks?

message 116: by Stella ╰☆╮╰☆╮ (last edited Nov 30, 2014 11:47PM) (new)

Stella ╰☆╮╰☆╮ (stellamatta) My pick has no wishlist yet, I was hoping to use the ARe sale

If you go into your library after you've brought the book there's a little present box icon that you can click on, you can then enter the email address of the person you wish to gift the book to.

Okay, although I know I joined up, that group is not showing for me, so I think I've been left out. Only last year's is there. Never mind, I'll try again next year.

message 119: by Meep (new)

Meep My pick's wishlist all shows as purchased, there's a link to a goodreads shelf but it's set to friends-only so I can't view it!

Help?!?!

message 120: by finecat (new)

finecat | 91 comments @Meep - Send a friend request to the person on GR and/or send an anonymous email via Elfster asking the person what books they want, etc. Let them know that you can't see their linked GR wish list because their GR profile is set to private, and only friends can see their shelves.

message 121: by Krissy (new)

Krissy (krissystewart) How do you send the ebooks anonymously with Amazon? I've sent gifts with them before and they always showed who it was from. And I saw no option where you could change that.

Also, if I want to send the gift via All Romance how can I be sure they have an account in order to accept the gift?

At ARe they will be able to create an account to claim the book under the email address you used to gift the book.

message 123: by Anne (new)

Anne I made a mistake and marked my gift as "received". How can I fix this? I don’t want to send the wrong message to my Secret Santa.

message 124: by Michelle (new)

Michelle McKinney (owlshelle) | 51 comments Ok I am super new to this lol. On elfster where does it tell us who are person is? I've looked everywhere (I feel so silly not finding it)

Stella ╰☆╮╰☆╮ (stellamatta) so if I send an email to my pick on elfster it's anonymous, right?

message 126: by finecat (new)

finecat | 91 comments @Michelle - I answered that question for someone else above. Just scroll up a bit, and you'll see how to find your giftee.

message 127: by finecat (new)

finecat | 91 comments @Stella - Yes, in Elfster, messages can be sent anonymously. Just "Follow" your giftee (anyone you follow is anonymous to them), tap on that person's profile, click on the gray colored "more" bar, choose the option to "Send a Message", and it will give you the option to send the message anonymously.

message 128: by Michelle (new)

Michelle McKinney (owlshelle) | 51 comments I don't see anything that says your draw.

Thanks!

message 130: by finecat (new)

finecat | 91 comments You're welcome, Stella :)

message 131: by finecat (new)

finecat | 91 comments Michelle, If you don't see anything on that page listing your giftee, then I would chat with Heather about it. Maybe there's a glitch in the system or some other problem?

message 132: by Michelle (new)

Michelle McKinney (owlshelle) | 51 comments So if I don't see your draw does that mean I missed it?

message 133: by Michelle (new)

Michelle McKinney (owlshelle) | 51 comments Thank you I feel like such a dummy lol

message 134: by finecat (new)

finecat | 91 comments I'm not sure. When did you signup? Did you use Heather's specific link to register with the GR Elfster group? I think the link was one of the first posts in this discussion. Also, the cutoff date to make it into the group was November 30th.

message 135: by finecat (new)

finecat | 91 comments Lol, you're not a dummy at all! If I could magically appear by your side, I'd fix you up :-)

message 136: by finecat (new)

finecat | 91 comments Michelle,

Here's Heather's original signup link:

http://www.elfster.com/exchange/view/...

And, it still states the following:

"Names have already been drawn, but you might still be able to get in!"

**** Actually, I noticed (when I just logged onto Elfster) that there's an odd number (147) of people in the group; so, perhaps, it won't match you until another person registers? That could be the problem? ****

The gift that you bought for your secret santa? They won't see what you marked at received.

Just delete your name from the Amazon email. It is really easy. Just follow the prompts! I can walk you through it if you message me.

You can buy books through All Romance and they can download a mobi file. That works!

Send them a message and see if ARe is okay? Unless their books are Kindle exclusive. Most of mine last year were Kindle on the wishlist, but that was just how they came from the search.

You should see yourself right away when you go here: http://www.elfster.com/exchange/view/...

You should see more info when you click on your name!

Oh good. Let me see if I can actually get onto the site now. It really shouldn't be that hard, but sometimes I find websites I'm not used to hard to navigate. Thanks!
