How do we know who is our secret santa??

On Decemeber 1st (I think that's the date), you will be assigned a Secret Santa through elfster. It is anonymous, so they don't know who has them and you don't know who has you.

I also found it easier to create a Goodreads Secret Santa shelf and then linked my elfster list to it. This way I can add what I see on GR to it and have to do it in only one place.

To do this, I copied the url of my Secret Santa shelf page and pasted in to the link tab on my elfster wish list.

Now I remember! For some reason my shelf URl didn't work this year and I couldn't remember why I did that.

Mine from last year brought up my whole read list when I first tried it this year, but I realized I had deleted the secret Santa shelf so when I added it back everything worked again. So much easier to just manage that shelf rather than having to do it in elfster.

Another ? - I have two groups listed in elfster, last year's gift exchange and this years and it looks as we make comments, some are going in one or the other. How do we make sure our comments are going in the right list. Leave last year's group in elfster which was the Goodreads Awesome People or am I just really confuzzled?

@Lei - I typed my preferences and pasted my GR shelf list into the "Notes:" section of the wishlist I created. Hope that helps :-)

Lei, go on the wishlist that you want to put your preferences in. Then go to the upper right corner and click on the gear symbol which will take you to preferences.

In the preferences sections, you can decide what your wishlist name will be, who can see it, and then at the bottom, there are "notes". you can put your preferences there and it will then show up at the top of the list like it does on mine. Let me know if you need more help.

As for your second question, Lei. I also went to preferences and altered who could see the list. I made my preferences such that my list was only seen by the people in this group. That way, I didn't need to make a new list.

You can put the link to one of your shelves there so people can see a Goodreads wish list.

Okay, let's say I accidentally put the paperback version of a book but I only want eBook copies, should I just put a note to say to get a Kindle version or should I try to make sure to not put paperback? Also, do we have to go to Amazon to get the book for our person or is there a way to order it from Elfster?

I would put a note on top saying "ebook only" or "mobi files only." You do your buying through other sites. Last year I bought my SS a combo from All Romance and Amazon and sent them to her email.

okay..my turn for the silly question.

How do I add a little bio to my profile? I didn't find it necessary the last couple of times but with so many people this round I want to make sure I put amazon or mobi books on there somewhere.

When I did my little note (if it showed up on the page), I followed the instructions above about clicking on the settings gear of the wishlist and typed it in the notes section.

Sorry if this was already answered and I missed it, but I just wanna double check before the deadline, do we have to do anything besides join the group to sign up and be included in the list of SS? And set up the elfster account.
